Error message - media being played is of an unsupported format

I have the Curve 8330, my friend has the BOLD 9700 - both on the TELUS network.  When I send a video or voice note everything works as it should.  When they (BOLD 9700) send me (Curve 8330) a Voice Note or Video (bb to bb) I get the following error message.  "Media being played is of an unsupported format".
I've checked for Updates .. there doesn't appear to be any.
v 4.5.0.186 (platform 3.4.0.59)

I have the same issue and this clears it, but it happens all the time if you use media player.

This is a known issue that is a pain in the butt.  Your media player is locked up as well.  Look here:

Try a Battery pull please, with the BlackBerry device powered ON, remove the battery 15 seconds and then reinsert the battery to reboot device. This will clear all cache like rebooting a PC. Then try again and see if your problem persists.
If you have done the above, try removing the media card and inserting it again.

I recently download an app to watch movies on my phone from blackberrymovemachine.com.  I successfully downloaded this app and when I go to play movies it starts the download and then I get the error message: The media being played is of an unsupported format.  I have gotten this message too when trying to play some videos on you tube.  Any suggestions or help would be great?  Do I need to download another app to support this type of media?

  • Media file error message trying to play files from WDMycloud on ipad

I am using a WDMyCloud networked hard drive to provide cloud backup for my Windows PCs. This backup includes my Itunes music library
Using the WDMyCloud app on my iPad(or iPhone) I can see the library is succesfully backed up onto WDMy Cloud and can see all expected songs listed.
Unfortunately when I try to open some of them on my iPad or iPhone using the WDMyCloud app I get an error message "Unable to play this media file". Some files do open OK
File formats are mostly .m4a or otherise .mp3 and I have experience of problems with both types of files.
I used to be able to play all WDMyCloud stored media files without any problem on my iPad/iPhone devices, and I am not aware of changing anything in iTunes/WDMyCloud or my Apple devices other than ensuring I keep up with the latest released software/version.
Interestingly, I copied a couple of files that would not play into Dropbox onto my PC. I then looked for them on my iPad and iPhone usingWDMycloud app and looked into synced Dropbox folder in WDmy Cloud and found the files and hey presto they play OK.
They also play on my iPad and iPhone if I go direct to the Dropbox app itself.
Finally,I can also access my WDmyCloud via my Samsungsmart TV since it is on the same home network and and the "problem"  files will play OK on the TV.
With my limited technical knowledge, its not clear that there is any difference between the files that play and those that don't.
Grateful for any advice on what I might be able to do to fix it so all my files will play
    Many thanks

I see. I understand Cisco just recently released this model in the market so probably there would be more tests to be done for further isolation and come up with a fix solution if proven to be really an issue. I guess for now we'll stand by for updates and just make the best out of Cisco's one of the top of the line routers.

You would need to have burned the disc using iDVD or a third-party application such as Toast. Is that what you did?

If you are working with a file you modified in Lightroom, you should go to the Lightroom Photo menu and choose Edit in... and the version of Photoshop you want to open it in.
There a dialog will ask if you want to transfer the LR settings you made to your photo when you open in Photoshop.

  • HT3209 error message when I play video purchased on iTunes

'This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes.'
Why does this happen only for some movies & TV shows? All the rest play fine. I have the latest version of iTunes, and 'yes', it's up to date. I have all my OS updates as well. We purchased an AppleTV a couple of months ago, and I'm beginning to wonder whether it matters whether I buy media through the AppleTV or my computer. Would that cause this error message?
I purchased two products through iTunes on my computer (I wanted the standard version of both a movie and a TV show which isn't available through AppleTV, but is through iTunes on my computer). When I went to play it I couldn't, I got the above error message instead. This only started happening after we purchased the AppleTV. Coincidence or the culprit?
Has anyone else had this problem?

'This movie requires QuickTime, which is not supported by this version of iTunes.'
Try relaunching iTunes in 32-bit mode first, as per the instructions in the following document:
iTunes for Mac: Older media files may require iTunes to reopen in 32-bit mode
Can you watch the movies and TV shows now?

  • Error Message (-208) -- Cannot play purchased music

After upgrading to itunes 6.0 I can no longer play my purchased music. The itunes store is telling me I am not authorized to play the song files, so I log into my account and it says authorization successful. After I click ok I receive the error message:
"We could not complete you Music Store request. An unknown error occurred (-208)."
I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling itunes, and have even tried downgrading to itunes 5.0. Itunes 5.0 wouldn't play the songs because it said I needed itunes 6.0 in order to play my music, and that I would have to upgrade.
I have also tried deauthorizing my computer and then playing the song again but I still receive the same error message.

Cross-posted from another thread.. This *WORKS*:
After having checked my other computer for what files had been altered or created this last day (during thich i had successfully authorized it for playback in preview and for purchased music) i found the file "SC Info.sidb" under "X:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info". This appears to hold your authorization keys or some other magic stuff. By deleting this files parent folder, iTunes was forced into asking me to authorize this computer again for playback, with the difference this time that there were some other options on the authorization dialog, just like there should be when for the first time authorizing a computer to play protected iTunes content. When I then entered my information as always and was expecting to see the same -208 error, i was instead greeted with sweet opera that I had been longing to listen to.
A minute or so later, I found this article on the net:
    http://nslog.com/archives/2003/05/02/authorizingitunes_scinfo.php
It describes the same problem, but for users of macs, but the same principle applies to windows machines. The only thing fifferent is the paths to the key database. "I:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info"
Try the same procedure and hopefully your iTunes copy should work again. Just remember to make sure all iTunes related processes are shut down first before trying this. It might not matter, but that is what I did.

  • Error message -42110 when playing rental movie

I've just downloaded Tintin from the rental section on iTunes. When I try and play it I get the error message -42110. When I access my account on iTunes it says that I still have 1 purchase to download. I went through the download process for a 2nd time and again when I try and play the movie I get an -42110 error message. I have the latest version of iTunes and I'm running Mac OS 10.7.3. Can anyone help? I've e-mailed Apple and I'm waiting to hear back.

  • Qosmio G30-153 HD DVD error message - Unable to play back

After 6 months of great HD DVDV viewing (well four actual playing times) I now am unable to play any HD DVD's but instead get a message saying "Unable to play back. Please restart the computer. event code: 6".
Have deleted Toshiba HD DVD programme and reloaded from 'Drivers and Tools' back-up CD but to no avail.
Audio CD's and std DVD's work ok, just not HD DVD's. Sometimes I get a black screen, the little control panel shows something iis playing .e. the indicater moves left to right, but no audio is heard.
Is the disc player components of these laptops prone to failure?
    Any advice gratefully accepted.

Same thing happened to my machine. Although "chronicles of Riddick" plays fine. I bought "Bourne" collection and get that error message on all 3 discs so I think it has to do with security coding on the DVD itself. I bought this machine for to be able to play these things.
Hope someone out there can help.

  • Saved keynote document could not be read. Error message says The document does not have a valid format.

Using Keynote '09 on an iMac OS 10.8.4. Two of my students saved a Keynote file then the next day when trying to open received an error message- The document "4b Molly.key" could not be read. The document does not have a valid format. The students are saving correctly. Any ideas how we can retrieve a working file? Why did this happen?

Just tagging on as I encounted this problem this morning.  I'm using Mavericks, on MBP (late 2013).
Have both Keynote 5 and 6 - tried to open the file in both, to no avail.   I have also tried the renaming of .key to .zip that seemed to work for others with previous OS, but does not fix now.  Also tried uploading to iCloud, renaming, redownloading - no fix there either.  I've tried to open on iPad and on a different user's iMac - again, get the same error.
It worked yesterday and the day before.  It is a large file; however, I realized that from last night to this morning the only different thing I did was that I inserted photos in the keynote deck by drag & drop verses Insert/Choose and wondering if this corrupted the file.
I'm going to hope a fix is out there somewhere and that I don't have to spend hours upon days upon weeks redoing this 98+ page deck.
    Any suggestions?
