Error Message mystery

When I try to open my newly downloaded and installed CS6 I get the following error message:
The procedure entry point GetLogicalProcessorInformation could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll
What is going on and how can I fix it?
Thanks in advance.

  • Strange Error Message Mystery--Virus?

Thanks for your help in advance. I have been using macs for years and I have never ever received an error message like this or one that looks like this. I have a Mac Powerbook G4 running 10.5.6 and I was using the new Safari 4 beta which I have been using for some time if that makes a difference and was trying to post to a message board on a website and all of a sudden the whole computer froze and a little black box about 3 inches long appeared in the upper left corner of the display and over the upper left corner of the Safari window and it said something in old computer font with white letters (looked like something you would see on a PC in a Windows system error screen) about "stacks exceeding or overflowing" or something about "stacks" (not too sure because in my panic I pressed and held down the power button because I thought I was under a virus attack). When the computer re-started, I turned on the firewall and everything seems to work fine. However, should I be worried? Does anybody know what the heck happened? What makes it more bizarre is that I was posting to a message board when this happened that I have never had a problem with viruses on a mac...did someone on the board try to show me that macs are vulnerable or was that just a coincidence? I don't see how they would get my info through an anonymous message board on a big commercial website (Newsweek). I googled this problem and found nothing on the net about it. What happened?

    Allan and Kappy,
Thanks for your replies and easing my worries. And your 2 additional points Allan are well-taken. I normally would do what you said and should have in this case. I think I just freaked out in this instance over the coincidence of it all because I just happened to be debating some PC guy on this Newsweek message board who said Macs are just as vulnerable to viruses as PC's are so I responded back to him and right after I did, my event happened so I panicked...lol, life is good again. If you want to see an infuriating article about PC vs. Macs, check out this week's Newsweek. Thanks!
P.S. I also received this answer on another thread...Any thoughts about it?
    Hi
No need for concern. That's not a virus attack, just some creative web site coding.
Add these DNS codes to your Network settings, and that ought to take care of those type of weird prompts.
To add the codes, go to System Preferences>Network. Click on your internet connection - either Ethernet or Airport, then "advanced". In the DNS panel enter on separate lines the following OpenDNS codes: 208.67.222.222 and 208.67.220.220. Select "OK", then "apply".
In the Network panel, if Ethernet or Airport (whichever you use) is not at the top of the list, click on the "gear icon" at the left bottom. Select "set service order". When the help box opens drag your connection type to the top of the list. Select "apply" when complete.
    Restart Safari.

  • Mystery with SE3320 - Error message "External SCSI BUS Reset

We have had this problem for several weeks and have been unable to resolve with much trial & error attempts.
Appreciate the help of the Sun community!
    =============
*Initial Problem: During Sybase installation on E2900 server. During "create database" stage, which involved a lot of harddisk operation, the system showed external reset error message for several disks on StorEdge 3320
During mirroring process, we always getting error message "External SCSI BUS Reset" then "target xxxxxx reduce sync transfer rate". We suspect that we have a wrong cable as of we are using P/N 530-3631-01 instead of 530-3631-02 as mentioned on SE3320 Product Manual. Unfortunately, we do not have the suggested cable with us, if you believe the problem is with the cable? Now we are trying to re-seat connections as well as change available SCSI cables just to find our luck. We are also suspicious if we need jumpers and terminators.
2 (two) faulty storages condition now is still in the SAME with condition when we raised complaint which is error message during high load I/O operations. In total, we have 6 SE3320 Storage, and the error messages only occur for this 2 faulty storage systems. It is true that mirroring will still created sucessfully regardless the error messages, however after error messages, I/O speed for that disk will be reduced.

Correction to my previous post: the "burn" button is not visible when browsing through the music library, only in the "purchased" or "playlist" views (which is really confusing, by the way.)
that's normal. you'll only see it in a playlist of some description. (the "Purchased" list is a playlist.) see:
I'm having trouble burning a CD or DVD
is that a home-built or custom-built PC? (checking, because it makes a difference when going checking for updates to drivers and whatnot.)

  • Mysterious error message when syncing

Whenever I sync my iPhone I always see the following message:
"Duke Ellington" was not copied to the iPhone "John's iPhone" because it could not be found.
I am puzzled by this message because I don't know what "Duke Ellington" is. I have searched my computer for a file of that name and find nothing. Furthermore there is no song by that name in any of my iTunes playlists. All of the songs that are in my iTunes playlists are copied onto my iPhone.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    John Link

My only other guess on this one is if it is a podcast or video that may have existed in your iTunes at one time. I would think to check the next time you have you iPhone connected to iTunes and change your sync settings one by one, and then try a sync after each change. That could allow you to maybe find the culprit. Again, since you cannot find the file in iTunes in music, it could be somewhere else. Once you locate it, you could delete the reference and it should correct the error message.
    Hope this helps you.

  • ITunes won't start up, no error message, appears in task manager

    Hi,
I have been running this system since quite a while and haven't had problems with iTunes for a while. I updated to the recent version not to long ago and it worked then once or twice, I even bought a game for the iPod (Tetris)...
Now iTunes doesn't start up anymore. I haven't installed anything new and I am virus free.
I try to launch iTunes and but the UI will not appear. I can see that it's loaded (or stuck somewhere) as the application is in the processes tab in the task manager and doesn't disappear.
Obviously I did the usual: curse a lot, removing everything incl. any traces of quicktime and itunes in the reg, 'application data' folders, the mysterious 'My Music' directory in my docs, reinstalling different versions of iTunes and quicktime, running hijack-this to see what processes I can't recognise, curse even more (**** MS monopoly) and reading a lot on the net and on this particular website.
There are holes in my firewall to accomodate iTunes. I use Sophos anti-virus software (not becasue I chose too).
Is there anything you could recommend?
Reinstalling windows is really not an option here, as I use this computer for work too.
I also use Linux on a seperate partition (Fedora 7), but I know that there were issues with iPod support on Linux and it once broke the whole **** database. Maybe Apple can one day release some software for Linux users? Afterall OS X is just a unix based OS anyways...
Please help, I wasted so much time on this already

    Hi, dengar.
Let's try to get an idea of what might be going on by running through b noir's "smack" for iTunes launch failures.
Based on your original post, I'm going to bypass some of the preliminary questions and make the following assumptions - if any of these assumptions are wrong, post back and we'll follow a different path.
    Assumptions -
    1) There is no error message associated with your iTunes launch failure.
    2) QuickTime itself launches on your computer without any problems.
    3) When you reboot your computer and attempt to launch iTunes, iTunes.exe appears and remains in the Processes list.
If those assumptions are all true, I'd refer you to this article in the Apple Knowledge Base.

I have a problem syncing iCal on my Macbook air (10.7.5) and my iPhone 4s (5.1.1) over iCloud. The following server error message comes up "The request (CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation) for account “iCloud” failed." Been to Apple Store - no luck instore, or with Super genius over the phone when with genius in store, taking data in real time via ethernet!
I had to do a full wipe of my system because of time machine back up issues 2 weeks ago, and the error has only occured at some point since then. I only did a drag and drop of my user account folders/files into an External HDD rather than a copy of my user account (advised by the staff in store at Apple to do this) and when reimported, the Mail folders are all present but each message is in a sub-sub-sub folder that is numerically named. I do not have a mirror image of the hard disk prior to the wipe, only a time machine back up from 2 weeks prior to it being done. I am uncertain if this reinstall has caused the issue.
I am not happy to upgrade the software in my iPhone until I have the calendars working. I have purchased Mountain Lion, but again am concerned about upgrading until the issues are sorted.
I have tried the other solutions on here with no luck. HELP please.
    Many Thanks.

    Progress Update.
I made a back of what existing phtos and Videos I had on my Iplhone.  I used Image capture to do this making an entire back up of photos and videoa that were still intact on the phone.
Image capture is god for this purpose, as it does exactly what you ask it to do without applying any rules or squishing the files back into iphote (which might also be corupted)
Image capture wil do the basic function of retriving the contents of the phone and save them as native files on your hard drive.
Once I did this I erased my iphone, and re intitialised it restoring an older back up from icloud.
As the retore was happneing - I did retreive the missing files that cuased the intial beviour as above, and I could play the videos that were missing in the above scenerio.  The wierd ting was however that even though the source files were now back on the device, the thumbnail previews were missing. Where I ahd balck thumb nails for server portions of the resotred content.
I then went to bed as the restore is a long process.  When I woke up the library had library had cleaned itself up.  Mysteriously the prcess had deleted the files missing the their thumbnails.
This is very perculiar and bad behavior.
I am now repeating the process, and will attempt to download the missing content as it is restored and prior to the phone trying to fix itself.
    Here are the lessons learned.
DO NOT rely on Photo Stream to keep back ups and synchornise videos from you IOS device. IT DOES NOT SUPPORT THIS CAPBILITY
DO NOT rely on iCloud Back Up alone - always fd an occassional iTunes back up or more reliably still always take a back up of photos and video files using Image Capture to be doubly sure that you a have backd up any content.
DO THIS NOW - dont wait to loose your phone ofr have your phone repaired by replacement at the apple Store.  (I did both :-(

  • I have a an iMac 27" and am trying to import some videos of a friends wedding into iMovie however one of the movies won't import. It doesn't say why or give any error message or codes. All of the other movies on the card download with out a problem.

I have an iMac 27" and am trying to import some videos of a friends wedding into iMovie however one of the movies won't import. It doesn't say why or give any error message or codes.
All of the other movies on the card download with out a problem. The movie in question is not 'corrupt' as you can watch it in iMovie direct from the SD card but as soon as you try to import it, it  just says 'error'. iIve tried moving the file to an external drive ( and other variations on this theme) then importing but have had no luck.
    Can anyone please help me.

    The mystery remains....
Thanks for the pointers. The file type is .mts (a proprietry sony one).
I have now found some video converter software (Wondershare and iSkysoft) at a cost. Either will convert this file for me into .mp4. This I can then import into iMovie without any problems. I've checked this on the trial versions and it worked well but without paying am left with a giant watermark in the video
The mystery (which I still havent solved) is why did 20 other .mts files import fine and then this one not?
If you could point me in the direction of some free .mts converter software that would be the cherry on the cake.
    Thanks

  • "... Items could not be copied..." error message - can't find items!

    Hello,
I get the following error message when sync'ing ATV with iTunes on my iMac:
"Some of the items in the iTunes library, including "file name", were not copied to the Apple TV "Apple TV Name" because they cannot be played on this Apple TV. For a list of items that could not be copied, click the triangle below."
I clicked on the triangle and get this error message:
+Clicking on the ! in the list states that+:
"file name" was not copied because the file type is not supported by the Apple TV "Apple TV Name".
Here's the mystery, these files don't exist in iTunes. They used to at one time but for some reason, Apple TV thinks they're still there.
    Help!!

Ok, I'm getting a similar problem. I purchased the TV Shows from my ATV, at one point they synced back to my iTunes and are now not physically on my ATV. I recently copied all of my iTunes library from the iMac HDD to an external drive. Now I have 2 problems:
    1. Attempting to sync gives me the same error, which makes no sense to me since I bought them from the iTunes Store on the ATV in the first place.
    2. Since only streaming is available, I see the full list of shows on itunes, but it disconnects within 3 mins of watching the stream on my ATV. The ATV then disappears from the Devices list in iTunes, and won't reappear until i restart the app.
I've searched all over the net, but can't find any answers. I'd be willing to try any suggestions.

  • Another itunes failing to start post - no error message

I've read a fair few posts like this & so far the one started by theazzi seems to be about the closest.
A few weeks ago Itunes mysteriously stopped loading. The symptom is that itunes looks like it's about to load but nothing happens. The app comes up for a while in in the task manager but propmtly disappears without an error message. Interestingly (related??) a Cannon app that I use for capturing photos from my digital camera started doing the same thing at about the same time. Unfortunately I can't remember what new apps were added or software updates done at the time to work out whether it may be a conflict issue.
I've done all the things in the Apple troubleshooting site to no avail - it is a system not user issue & I've uninstalled and re-installed, I've also run MSconfig to see if it's a conflicting service etc all to no avail.
I've been through most of theazzi's thread things to try but no joy so far - downloading the latest version of the .net framework didn't work on my machine.
Oh, and Quicktime does exactly the same thing as itunes - looks like it's trying to start but fails without an error message. I've also run AVGFree antivirus with nothing picked up as well as Malwarebytes also to no avail.
The event log of the error from itunes is:

  • Automatic Downloads and Strange Error Message: "You can auto-download purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days"

    Hi gang-
Yesterday I noticed that iTunes on my iMac had not auto-downloaded several new songs that I had recently purchased on my iPhone.    In iTunes Preferences, under Store -> Automatic Downloads, I always have Music selected so all songs purchased from any device using my Apple ID normally download automatically.
To troubleshoot this, I double-checked my Preferences and sure enough, Music was de-selected under Automatic Downloads.   I then Selected it and clicked OK.   Here's where it gets weird and I get this error message:
This computer is already associated with an Apple ID.  You can auto-download purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 84 days.
I read and re-read this message and none of it seems to apply to me.   I have only one Apple ID.   I am currently logged in with iTunes to that one Apple ID.   All my iTunes Music ever has been purchased with that one Apple ID.   I am not trying to associate this computer or any other with a different Apple ID.
I logged iTunes out and then back in again and tried all the above- but same error message.
So, as it is now, I am unable to turn on Automatic Downloads in iTunes.
Anyone know what the heck is going on?
    Thanks!
    Dave

    Hey gang-
Okay, this gets more and more bizarre.   I sent a support email to Apple and basically they said  "...it seems that someone else associated your Mac with their Apple ID. That's the reason your purchases won't download."
Yikes!   My wife and I live alone- and we have exactly one and only one Apple ID.    Would somebody have needed physical access to my iMac to do that?
Support then said "You can view which devices or computers are currently associated, remove unused devices or computers, and see how long before they can be associated with a different Apple ID from the Account Information page in iTunes on your computer."
Okay- so I logged into My Account in iTunes.   On the list of associated devices, my own iMac is NOT on that list.   But I am logged in under the same Apple ID I've had for years on that iMac.
So my big question right now is...if my iMac (that I've owned for 5 years) has somehow been dis-associated from my Apple ID, how do I find out what Apple ID it is associated with?
Thanks gang for trying to help me unravel a mystery.
    Dave
PS- Here's an Apple Tech article on iTunes associations, but it doesn't really go beyond what we've discussed above:

I receive the follwing error message when trying to open my ipod touch/itunes "the itunes libary.itlfile is lockedon  a lockdisk or you do not have write permission on this file. How do I resolve this problem?

    Repair iTunes Security Permissions
Right-click on your main iTunes folder and click Properties, then go to the Securitytab and click Advanced. Use the Change Permissions... button grant to your account (or the Users group) and SYSTEM full control of this folder, subfolders and files, then tick the option to Replace permissions entries... which will repair permissions throughout the library. When complete switch to the General tab, click in the Read-only check box to clear it, then click Apply.
If you don't have the option to change the permissions then use the Owner tab and Edit... button to take ownership from an account with administrator privileges. Tick the option to Replace owner on subcontainers and objects.
Repeat with the media folder if it isn't stored inside the main iTunes folder.
If you've brought over the library from another computer you may also want to remove any "mystery" identities (S<string of dashes & digts>) that have come over from the old computer...
The images above are from Windows 7. Hopefully the system isn't too different in Windows 8.

  • A strange error message on a code-modified page

I am trying to implement this plugin on a simple Muse page:
    http://www.catchmyfame.com/catchmyfame-jquery-plugins/jquery-beforeafter-plugin/
Simple addition of working code to the Muse page produced a strange error. "beforeAfter is not a function"
By trial and error, a fix was removing one Muse function! The page then seemed to work without problem from my hard drive. But when added to my server, a Muse-related error message pops up. After dismissing the error, the page seems to work. I have been unable to figure out this mysterious error. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Come on, Adobe Muse engineers. Give me a hand with this problem. Someone must know what this error means.

    Hello!
I have received a new WLC2504 for my lab, which is nice....  :-)
What's not so nice is that I get a mysterious error message on the console. It appeared when the wizard started at first boot and it apperars at every startup since.
I have gone through the wizard twice and reset to factory defaults in between but the error message persists. It looks like this :
    (Cisco Controller)
Enter User Name (or 'Recover-Config' this one-time only to reset configuration to factory defaults)
User:  Failed to write I2C device: Input/output error
    [i2c_wr_to_wdt_timer_reg]Got error -1 during tx.

I would suggest talked to TAC & RMA if that is their view on this.
Normally you should not get any errors like this on console, if it is working properly

  • I get an error message when starting itunes

Hi, i'v ehad this problem for a while .. i'm not a computer expert but i do my best. I get an error message when clicking to start iTunes ... can someone help me ! i don't want to lose my songs !

    top fixes are
    - turning off security software before the install as Apple suggests
    - installing QuickTime standalone, not regular
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/standalone.html
    - setting up Norton to allow iTunes
    - scanning for malware with ewido (Free at www.ewido.net/en/)
In your case, if iTunes was working OK for a while and then mysteriously stopped, youve got a virus, I bet. Do the ewido malware scan.
