Error message on ipad

whenever I try to download from the app store, or update an app, I get error 1004. What does that mean.
I have a wi-fi connection

See if this helps clear up the error message and your problems.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Cache or Data . Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't help - look here.

  • TS4036 Error Message:  This iPad hs not been backed up for 3 weeks. Backups happen when the iPad is plugged in, locked and connected to Wi-Fi.

How do I clear up this Issue?  Error Message:  This iPad hs not been backed up for 3 weeks. Backups happen when the iPad is plugged in, locked and connected to Wi-Fi.
I plugged it in and it is charging now.  It will not allow me to unlock it and when I push the 'ok' button for the error message, it still appears....will not go away.
Do I just allow it to charge and it will automatically backup itself?  If not, what do I do?

Hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release.  This will restart the phone and give you access again.
To troubleshoot your iCloud backup, try deleting your last backup by turning off iCloud Backup in Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, then tap Manage Storage, swipe across your backup and tap Delete, then go back and turn iCloud Backup back on again.  If it still won't back up, you may have an app that is preventing the backup from succeeding.  To locate which one, go to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your device under Backups, under Backup Options tap Show All Apps, then turn them all to Off (including camera roll) and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, then the camera roll and/or one of your apps is preventing the backup and you'll have to located by process of elimination. Turn the camera roll On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds, turn some of your apps to On and try backing up again.  If it succeeds again, turn some more apps to On then try again; repeat this process until it fails.  Eventually you'll be able to locate the problem app and exclude it from your backup.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect to your computer & click on the "Update your device using iTunes".
Tip - You may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. After you update to iOS 5.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

Hold the Sleep/Wake and Home button down together until you see the Apple Logo.
Note: You must hold both buttons down together.

Try a reset and see if the popup disappears after the iPad has restarted : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • I keep getting error message on iPad that it has not backed up to iCloud.  How to resolve?

I keep getting error message on iPad that it has not backed up to iCloud.

To get rid of the message and use your iPad normally again:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.

  • HT1766 I have an IPAD 2 and when I awoke it I received an error message; "This IPad hasn't been backed up for 3 weeks." It goes on to tell me when backups occur but it doesn't back up automatically. How can I get rid of this message and use my IPad?

I have an IPad 2 and when I woke it up it gave me an error message on the desktop: "iCloud backup: This IPad hasn't been backed up in 3 weeks. Backups happen when this IPad is plugged in, locked, and connected to Wi-Fi." I have done all of these and it still doesn't allow me to get rid of the error message. I even connected the IPad to the computer and attempted to back it up using the Web but it still doesn't get rid of the message. Help!

Reset your iPad to clear that condition:

  • Error message on iPad using safari and iMessage/ FaceTime.

I'm having trouble with my iPad (3). Just recently I keep getting the same error message when searching using safari, it says cannot open page as too many redirects occurred. I've tried closing all tabs, clearing the history and clearing cookies and data but nothing is working. I can still use google and use my Facebook and Twitter apps. Also since clearing data, I have been logged out of iMessage and FaceTime, when I try and log back in again it says that an error occurred during activation. What's wrong with my iPad?! I updated my iOS software a few weeks ago so I assumed that couldn't be the problem. Please help!

You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists.

  • IPad with retina is stuck on error message that iPad is unable to back up.  When hit ok, the message does not go away.  Cannot power down.  Don't have computer to sync with iTunes.  Now what?

My coworker has a fairly new iPad with retina display.  She has an error message that the iPad has not been backed up and needs to back up when locked, on wifi, and connected to a power supply.  It has an ok button to acknowledge the message.  Every time she hits the ok button, the error message remains.  She is unable to power down because the error message stays at the top and disables the ability to use any other touch portions of the screen.  She tried using Siri to reboot, but Siri was of no help.  She just kept saying that she does not wear boots.  Holding the power button down for an extended period also did not help.  She does not have access to the computer that has her iTunes on it, so she cannot sync it via cable.  She also does not want to do a reset because she has several photos that she does not want to lose.  What can she do?

Try holding the Home and Power keys at the same time for approx 10 seconds or until the Apple logo appears, this will 'reset' the device - it won't lose any data doing this, let us know how you get on.

    Steve

  • Download error message on ipad for all itunes purchases

I am unable to download any of my purchases from itunes, music, movies, and tv shows on my ipad. When I click the download icon and the movie, for example, shows up in the downloads section of itunes with an error message "Download error: tap to retry". I have deleted the download using the swipe left & touching the Delete button. I have triede the multiple tapping of the down arrow, and even had to try an play the movies touching the play icon until the download cloud reappears and then the movie dissappears from the video window. No movie trailers will play either. The window opens up for a split second and that's it.
I have rest the ipad back to new and tried all of the above. Nothing works.I was not having this problem prior to yesterday. I had music, movies and tv shows downloaded prior to the reset.
What is the problem and what is the fix?

    Hello donada6240,
That definitely sounds frustrating. We have two potential fixes:
    A) The issue may be isolated to your Wi-Fi network. Simply trying again on a different network will give us more insight into where the problem lies.
    B) If the issue does not occur on your computer with iTunes, you may be able to download the purchases there, then sync to your iPad.
I highly recommend trying a different good-known network. And if it is indeed isolated to your network, see the following articles:
