Error message on my IMAC

recently i've begun to experience a noticable slowdown in my Imac everything is working verry slow imovie , e mail, etc etc. When I restart I sometimes get the white screen with the flashing folder with question mark. what does this all mean. I have to unplug the system and wait a while it will then restart and work normally for a few minutes then return to its turtle like mode. I'm just about to call apple care tonight

It's possible that the hard is starting to fail. Make sure you've got it backed up just in case it stops all together.

  • I keep getting an error message on my iMac about my iCloud id.

I just upgraded my iMac to OS X 10.9.1 and the message started popping up immediately afterwards.  The message says "This Mac can't connect to iCloud because of a probelm with "[email protected]".  It says open iCloud preferences to fix this problem.  I can't figure this out.  The error message pops up several times in a row.  I am given the choice to fix the problem later  or go to iCloud Preferences...- When I select "later", the message comes up again immediately, I press "later" again, it comes up again a few more times and then goes away for a while.  When I choose the option "iCloud Preferences..." I cannot see anything wrong.  I tried changing my password, which is a real pain because I have three ATVs, four iPads and two iPhones all using that id.  Is seems that those other devices are getting updates from my iMac, so I don't understand why I keep getting that annoying message.

I've never had that problem but perhaps "Manage your account" might help you.

  • Get error message on my iMac while downloading new IOS5 update

    Hi to all
Its very frustrating, since 1 week I'm trying to download the new software update ios5 for my iphone on my IMAC via Itunes.
Always shortly after the download, when the system unpackes the download I get the error message that the software für my Iphone got damaged
during the download (error = 1403)
I also get an error message when I want to download an normal update from apple. For example the new MacOSX Combo Update (see picture below)
    = ungültige Prüfsumme
I also tried to do the download via my windows pc and got the same error messages, which shows me that the problem cannot be on the IMAC it must have something to do with my network connection.
Can someone pls help me, I already spent 3 hours with apple care but the only thing they told me is to completely re set up my imac again and hope it works but that does not make sense when I get the same error message on my pc.
    I already :
    - reinstalled lion completley
    - reinstalled Itunes completely
    - setup a new administrator
    - checked with my internet provider whether I have outages
    - downloades other software from different providers -> works fine
    - restarted my internet modem and infrastructure several times
Only when I try to download something from the apple server I have this problems
    Many thx in advance
    Kind regards

  • I get an error message on my imac when trying to create home sharing.

I am trying to copy my contacts from my iMac to my iphone 4s using iTunes Home sharing. I get an error message stating that Home sharing could not be activated because an error occurred (5506) What does this mean? Am I using the correct application to perform this task?

  • Please help. Error message on desktop iMac reads: "Unable to update Firefox. Please see your administrator."

Hi. My last update was March 27, 2015. Just last month. I keep getting error messages that say Firefox cannot update. I've read this makes it a security issue if it won't allow Firefox to update. Please assist. Thanks.

If there are problems with updating or with the permissions then best is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox application and save the disk image file to the desktop
    *Firefox 37.0.2: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/
*Trash the current Firefox application (open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re)install
*Install the new version that you have downloaded
    *https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Installing+Firefox+on+Mac
Your personal data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox profile folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data when you uninstall and (re)install or update Firefox.

  • Error message at startup iMac G3

I have an iMac (500) G3 (Summer 2000) and it will not complete its startup. It starts, then before it is complete I get a bomb message, 'Sorry, a system error has occurred. "Time synchronizer" error Type 41 Restart.'
I have tried restarting, but it makes no difference. I have also started it from the CD, but the same thing happens. What can I do now?

  • A FIX for error message: When I try to open Snood (it's a game) I get this message.  Not enough memory {Error # :: 0, in sound.cp@line 101  Can you help?

After years of playing Snood, w/o problems, I started getting this error message, on my iMac, OS 10.5.8,
with 4 GB of memory when opening Snood:  Not enough memory {Error # :: 0, in sound.cp@line 101
My MacBook Pro w. Mac OS 10.6.8 did not have this problem.
Initially I thought that Snood raised its minimum requirement to Mac OS 10.6.
I had several correspondences with Snood. Their tech support is great. Quick and thorough responses.
They thought the issue was in Mac's system preferences/ Sound. It was.
I didn't realize that my sound input and output devices were gone.
The fix was resetting the PRAM. I found this advice on MacFixIt.com.
    MacFixIt help with volume:   http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13727_7-10415659-263.html
Resetting the PRAM is on Apple support:   http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
My sound (music!) is back, along with Snood. So glad I reset the PRAM before reinstalling the OS software!
Thank you to Snood, MacFixIt and Apple.
    Happy new year all!

    Good work, nice post/tip, thanks!

  • Can't update OS to latest version - get error message

I was getting some advice/suggestions for this problem (see below) from the imac section of Communities, and after several attempts did not work, a contributor suggested posting to the iphone forum. ( I don't know how to cross link)
    Problem:
With my 2 yr old macbook, I cannot update my recently purchased iphone 4 when an update is available. I get message: "...device isn't eligble for requested rebuild." I have worked with Apple store Genius bar staff 4 times with no sucess.  Latest attempt was to erase HD, reinstall OS X, and only reinstall itunesin orde to test the update feature.  In this scenario, with only itunes on the macbook, the update is successful.  However, after  I drag and dropped many, but not all, of my programs and files from the saved data on external HD back onto the macbook, and tried an update on a different iphone 4 (in our family plan), same problem.  So I guess somewhere in what I transferred back onto  the macbook is a bad file.  I suppose I could go through the tedious process of transferring one program/file at a time onto the macbook, then trying the update again, but I can't do an update after each transfer because there is no new update to download, as they come out only every so often.
Is there a program that can scan the external HD to find bad/corrupted files?  I have Spring cleaning and Drive Genius, neither of which seem to have the features to do such a scan (they do have disk scan, which I have run, along with Apple's Tech Tool, and all such scan operations have show no problems)
(to complicate this, this apparent bad file on this macbook likely came from my white intel based iMac.  I first discovered this "updating of the iphone 4 problem" on the imac.  When we bought the macbook, we bought one to one and had the Apple store do a complete transfer from the imac to the macbook in its first time set up.  I purchased the iphone 4 in Sep 2010 and first tried an update in Nov 2010, which failed.  I have been back to the Apple Genius bar 5 times since then with this problem.  During one of those visits, Genius suggested trying to do just the update of my iphone 4 from the macbook, and that is when we discovered the macbook had the same problem.  So this bad file likely was transferred to the macbook in that initial set up transfer.  Furthermore, this macbook is still under AppleCare, yet that does not seem to mean anything to the Genius Bar.  Tomorrow I will call applecare about this, but in the meantime, if anyone out there has a clue, I'm much obliged.
If this works, here is screen shot of the error message:
    file:///Users/imac/Desktop/Screen%20shot%202011-07-18%20at%203.21.36%20PM.png
One suggestion was to do a safe boot, then try. Same problem
Another was to provide the contributor a cut and paste of teh Console activity lines of the time this happened.  I did that and found an old version of Mozy still trying to do something.  I fixed that , shut down, started, tried again, same problem.
    Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks

Sorry to hear of your woes too. So, do you even get to the point where an error message box appears that  states ... isn't eligible for requested rebuild...", or some other wording,  (with a "more info" tab that takes you to an apple.com  help screen)

  • I keep getting an error message that says the safari browser version you are currently using does not support the community toolbar.  how do I fix it?

Everytime I open my imac I get an error message that says: "We're sorry but the Safari browser version your are currently using does not support the community toolbar."  I can't see where it affects anything else, but getting an error message on an imac, just doesn't seem right, ya know?  How can I get rid of the message.

Apparently an add-on named Community Toolbar was installed at one time, and is causing the problem. To get rid of it, quit Safari, then throw away these files -
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Conduit
    Macintosh HD/Library/InputManagers/CTLoader
    Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts/ctloader.pkg
    Macintosh HD/Library/Receipts/<Toolbar name>.pkg
    Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/SIMBL/Plugins/CT2285220.bundle
    Macintosh HD/Users/<User name>/Library/Application Support/Conduit
Note - if you are using Lion, the Library folder in your home folder (user name folder) is hidden. To get into it, in Finder open the Go menu; with that menu open, press and hold the Option key. An item "Library" will be added to the list, and can then be selected. That will open the Library folder in your home folder.

  • Warning: Your Adobe Flash Player version is outdated. (false error message)

When I get this false error message and click on the link, Adobe tells me my current Flash Player version is 11.9.900.170 and "Your system is: Windows 64-bit, English". I actually have an iMac with OSX 10.7.5, and Adobe Flash Player 11.9.900.170 already installed. I've reinstalled, deleted Flash Player completely and reinstalled several times and yet I continue getting these false "Windows 64-bit" update needed error messages for my iMac computer. How do I stop these false error messages?

I'm having a similar issue on both my Macbook Pro (OSX Mavericks), my iPhone 5S (iOS 7.0.4) and my wife's iPhone 5C (iOS 7.0.4). It happens on almost every site I viisit and when I launch some apps. I've cleared histories, caches and turned Javascript on/off. Also, get the "warning" when I use Chrome for iOS. I've added an image below of what it looks like on my phone. I'm attempting a factory restore on my 5S. I'll let you know if it helps.
