What is your operating system?  What software are you trying to open?  How is the printer connected?  What driver version?

  • HP Photosmart 2610 All in One Printer Paper feeds OK but the software and sensors are a problem

HP Photosmart 2610 All in One Printer   Paper feeds OK but the software and sensors are not allowing paper to feed until several steps are taken first.
(I am using Windows 7.  I also use the virtual XP mode and mostly MS Office 2003 docs).
I have had this printer for several years and love it.  Before I toss it out, I thought I would check if I could get it to work properly before I buy another printer.  Note: I did put in a new HP black cartridge (because it was out of ink) but the printer was not working properly for several days before I changed the cartridge. The printer was at step 5 before ink change.
Lately, each time I turn on my printer, I have to go through the same routine
    1. The printer wants to align the cartridges so I push OK
    2. The paper feeds into the printer and stops at the exact place to start printing.
    3. Error message appears that it is out of paper.  So I press OK to continue.
    4. It says "aligning print cartridges" runs through 2 sheets of blank paper without trying to do anything and then states "cartridge alignment failed"  "Press OK to continue"
    5. Screen is now normal and it appears it is going to work.
    6. It makes no difference if I used the copy function OR when I send a print job from the computer, the paper feeds into the printer and stops at the exact place to start printing but nothing happens.
    7. Error message appears that it is out of paper. OR that it is the wrong size paper.  I pull the paper that was at the proper place to be printed from the printer and then the error message says "Paper jam.  Press OK to continue"
    8.  I press OK.  The printer will then quickly feed in and eject 2 sheets of paper before it will actually start printing the print job.  It will work fine after this as long as I print from the same document.
    9. If I want to print a different document then I have to start all over again at step 6 to get the printer to work.  If I shut the printer off I have to go back to step 1.
    What I have already tried
    A.  Uninstalled and reinstalled the printer driver direct from HP web site.  I have done this several times with both the basic driver download and the complete package download.
    B.  I have done a partial reset by unplugging the printer, and then re-plugging the printer while pushing the  "# and 3" buttons while turning on the printer.  I have done this several times.  Each time it will work fine until I try a different document of turn off the printer.
    C. I have downloaded the HP Print and Scan Doctor and used it several times.  It states that "everything checks out OK"
    D. I have downloaded the HP Hardware Diagnostic Utility 4.0 but it does not work with my printer.
    E.  I have cleaned all the rollers and blown air throughout to make sure there were no bits of junk in the paper's path or blocking a sensor.
    F.  I have tried different brands and weights of paper (all 8½  x 11) but nothing works.
Most of the problems started when I added the printer to the virtual machine so I could print XP files.  This may just be a coincidence because the printer has the same problems when I use the copy function without the computer being on.
Thanks for looking at my issues.  Any help would certainly be appreciated.

I just tried using Notepad as you suggested and had the same result.  Paper feeds in stops at proper place and error message "out of paper"
I just put in two new HP ink cartridges because the other two were low and I was told that this might be the problem.
I seem to remember that the HP 2610 shows 2 "ink icons" in the lower left corner.  One for black and one for color.  The ink icons would change from completly full to just an outline as the amount of ink went down.  Currently the black ink icon is missing
This is a very frustrating problem because the printer works great after doing a few steps to get around the problem.  The fact that the problem reoccurs any time anything is changed is the major problem
Most of the problems started when I added the printer to the Windows 7 virtual machine so I could work with Windows XP programs.  This may just be a coincidence because the printer still has the same problems when I use the copy function without the computer even being on.
I want to thank you for all of your efforts.  Perhaps this is a unique problem that will never be solved and it is best to take my losses and buy a new printer.  As a last chance, if possible, could you refer my post to someone who is an expert with the HP 2610 printer.

  • HP Photosmart 2610 all-in-one refuses to apply manual IP

My home network has a HP Photosmart 2610 all-in-one printer on it.  Occasionally all the computers on the network see the printer as offline (Vista and XP).  The printer must be deleted and then added again in control panel to make it work again.
This is happening because the printer IP is changing sometimes.
I am trying to assign a static IP by going to the printer server in a browser (192.168.1.101) in my case.
Then I click the "Networking" tab on the top, select "Wired (802.3)" on the left, select the "Manual IP" bullet, and enter "192.168.1.126" in the "Manual IP Address" field and "255.255.255.126" in the "Manual Subnet Mask" field.  When I click apply, the standard 'page loading' progress bar in the browser starts but never finishes  Opening a new browser and going to 192.168.1.101 confirms that the IP has not changed.  I tried this in multiple browsers (IE8, Chrome) and nothing would work.
I also tried "telnet 192.168.1.101" in a command window but I couldn't get it to connect.
    Thanks in advance,
    Daniel

  • Photosmart 2610 all-in-one Scan preview does not display

Recovering from a hard-disk crash, I've just reinstalled my Photosmart 2610 all-in-one using the driver and software package for Windows XP : rub_W01_Americas_Euro1_NB.exe. downloaded from the HP support site. All seems to be running well, except for a glitch when I try to scan: the document Preview does not display.  I have made certain that the Preview checkbox is duly selected, but nothing seems to help. It is the same whether I'm scanning a picture or a document. It also makes no difference whether I launch the scan from HP Director or from within another application.
Note that if I click Accept, the document (or picture) will indeed be scanned and saved. But I won't see it until I open it with some other application.
    Thoughts, anybody?
    Thanks!
    James

Hello James, welcome to the forums
I understand you are unable to see your scanned preview with your Photosmart 2610. I would suggest the guide below to use for troubleshooting steps for this issue.
Scanning Stops at the Preview Screen when the Printer is Connected to the Computer with a USB Cable ...
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions: click here.

  • HP Photosmart 2610 All-in-One, Manual Two-Sided Printing, HP e-mail support Ticket no: 8028153835

HP e-mail support, Ticket no: 8028153835
I purchased my HP Photosmart 2610 all-in-one printer in 2005. It was previously installed on a HP Laptop, Windows XP, and all the features worked.
It is now on a PC running Windows Vista Ultimate 32. When I tried installing the printer software CD, it wouldn't load because of the Vista OS. I then loaded the HP Photosmart 2600 series full feature printer driver (Vista OS compatible) from the following HP website link:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-47754-1&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&...
Now I cannot get the Printing Preferences to allow Manually Duplexing (two-sided) printing. This option was available on the original printer software.
I've tried the solutions on: HP Image Zone Help / Two-Sided Prints which indicate:  Click the Finishing tab / In the Document options area / select the Print on both sides check box (this box is not available).
When I run the printer from the Control Panel as Administrator, the printer Properties / Device Settings show Manual Duplexing: Enabled.  When I go to the printer Properties / Advanced / Printing Defaults, neither the Finishing / Print On Both Sides check box is available nor will the Printing Shortcuts tabs allow the Print On Both Sides option to appear (only shows Print On Both Sides: Off).
HP e-mail support told me to install this patch to correct the problem:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericSoftwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=mp-69848-1&cc=us&lc=en&...
When I try installing the patch, it won't load because it wants the original CD software. So I'm back to my initial problem of trying to load the original printer software that won't load because the CD is for Windows XP OS. I am at an impasse between the Software CD that I have, and what is available on the HP website.

Also, if it were, do you download the driver?
The driver is supplied through Windows Update.  Go to the Devices and Printers folder, Add a Printer, then select Windows Update.  It will take a few minutes to update the list, then the Deskjet 6500 series will be a choice under HP (not Hewlett-Packard).

  • Receiving a false paper jam error message for a 6310 all in one printer

I have an hp 6310 all in one printer.  It is showing a false paper jam error message with no paper in the printer.  I have tried all  of the fixes that have been suggested on the website as well as on you tube to no avail.  Nothing works, I have cleaned all of the parts that have been suggested to clean and reset the printer. I am still receiving the same paper jam message with no paper in the printer.  Does anyone have any suggestions to try to fix this printer.

Do you here any clicks or other sounds when the 6310 first starts up?
I'm trying to fix false paper jam error on Sharp Fax/copier,F0-4450.
When researching the problem, found suggestion that a bad solenoid could cause that error.
After completely disassembling the copier found that wasn't the problem.
I here 2 clicks during start up that sounds like gear slipping a tooth, as if something is preventing a shaft from turning.
    Back to the drawing board.
UPDATE!!! Took fuser out, turned gears with screwdriver til 81/2x11 paper went thru, lubricated ends of fuser roller with powdered graphite lube.
    3 page fax came thru.

  • I have received an error message on the C6380 all in one saying "Printhead Problem"

Then says " remove all cartridges. Next lift grey latch and remove printhead, then reinstall printhead and cartridges."
I have done this, I have cleaned the printhead and contacts, put it back  taken it out again and put it back again all to no avail.
I have turned it off at the mains, at the switch and anything else I can think of.
I cant get rid of the error message so I cant use the printer even as a  scanner as it shows offline.
Cartridges have always been HP. Usage is minimal, intermittent but not great use. I tend to use it more for occasional scanning and copying. I cant even check the page count as I cant clear the error message.
    What to do please?

If the HP warranty is over you can try soaking the Printhead.
Get a pan and put 1/2" of very hot (not boiling) water in the bottom.
Next remove all the ink cartridges, then remove the printhead assembly.
Gently put the printhead nozzles down in the water and let it soak for five minutes ONLY.
Remove the printhead from the water and gently dry the electrical contacts.
Put the printhead back in the printer and then reinstall the ink cartridges.
If the error is gone then run a few cleaning cycles from the front panel.

NOTE:The product might not turn off after pressing the Power button. Continue to the next step regardless.
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the product.

    Hi Edgardsm,
I understand you have a Photosmart C5280 that is giving you an error stating the alignment has failed. I will certainly do my best to assist you with this.
I would recommend that you follow this 'Print cartridge alignment failed' Error Message Displays on the All-in-One document as it should be able to help you clear this issue. If not please also ensure that your printer is plugged directly to a wall outlet to ensure the printer is getting enough power to function properly.

  • HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One , Mac 0SX 10.6.8 Error message:' pump motor stalled

HP Photosmart C7280 All-in-One , Mac 0SX 10.6.8 Error message:' pump motor stalled' press (I don't recognise the icon!)
What is the button & what is the solution?

Hello, I don't have a floor model of that printer available and the manual for this printer does not mention the pump motor. But I would first try removing and reseating all the cartridges in the printer and power cycle the machine. If you are still getting that error message I would do a hard reset that involves removing the cartridges. No user settings are lost with a hard reset and it is a very common tool used to try to resolve a hardware issue with a printer.  To do a hard reset with removing the cartridges:
While the machine is powered on take all the cartridges out of the machine. Close cartridge access.
Then pull the power cord out of the rear of the Product, and then unplug the cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 20 seconds.
Plug power cord back into wall outlet and then back in the rear of the printer. It should power on by itself but after 10 seconds or so use the power button to turn machine on
Wait for printer to go through start up process and as it recognizes the cartridges are missing (the display panel will inform of missing cartridges) put them back in their slots.
