Error message 'One or more cartridges appear to be missing or damaged'.

Hi, can someone help suggest what i do next? I'm getting the above error message on the main black ink cartridge. I've tried 3 different cartridges so I'm pretty sure it's not the actual catridge that's a problem as they can't all be faulty. There's no problem with the other 4 cartridges.

Hello MTBB,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I would like to see if there is anything more to suggest regarding the cartridge error on the printer. What is the model of the printer you are having the issue with?
Since you have done - in my opinion - the best troubleshooting step by replacing the cartridges already, it may be a printhead issue. Take a look through this HP document: 'Incompatible Print Cartridge', 'Print Cartridge Problem', or 'Cartridge Missing or Damaged' Message..., it may have a step or two more worth trying.
Thanks, for posting.

  • Error message:- One or more cartridges appear to be damaged.

This error message comes up when I turn on the my HP PHOTOSMART 6520 printer:-
One or more of the cartridges appears to be missing or damaged. Install or replace the affected cartridges.
When I lift the door up, the printer cartridges do not move from the right hand side and so I can't get to them to change them/remove. What would you suggest? Thanks for any help.

    Hello Sassari,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the carriage not moving so you can change the ink cartridges as well as a Ink cartridge error.
I do have a few troubleshooting steps we can try in the attempt to resolve this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
I also suggest that we try to remove the power cable from the rear of the printer and while it is disconnected, please attempt to move the carriage over by hand to the middle of the printer.  Remove the ink cartridges but do not replace.  Remove them and then close the printer back up and reconnect the power cable.  The error message should change to "No ink cartridges installed". At this point, open the access panel and install new ink.
If you are still getting the original error message, please click on the following link for the 'Incompatible Ink Cartridge' or 'Indicated Ink Cartridge Must Be Replaced' Message Displays on the C....
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
    Thank you for your time.

  • Cartridges appear to be missing or damaged

I have a new 6830 printer. After printing two photos I am now getting a "one or more cartridges appear to be missing or damaged" message. I have replaced them, cleaned them, reset the printer and nothing works. This is infuriating as I just bought the printer to replace another HP printer that died.

    Hi ayaggy,
Here is a support document from hp.com that gives you steps to try for this exact printer and error message.
Let me know if this solves your problem!

  • "One or more cartridges appear to be damaged"

I purchased my office jet 8620 last Oct 29 from the Office Depot in Niles, IL (#3242). It worked very well until the original ink cartridges (set up) needed to be replaced. I removed the old ones, installed the new ones using HP cartridges and after a couple minutes the screen on the machine displayed this message:
""One or more cartridges appear to be damaged. Remove them and replace with new cartridges."
I assumed that the brand new cartridges were defective so I returned them and bought new ones but I am getting the same message, and the printer won't print anything.
I went through this checklist (http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Officejet-Pro-8600-e-All-in-One-Printer-series---N9/4322914/m... and spoke with HP customer service by phone. The tech never offered to replace the pinhead assembly - instead, she suggested that I contact the Office Depot store in Niles and return the entire thing.
Now the store manager tells me he won't replace the unit because it is past the 6 month purchase date, but did offer to "take a look" at the cartridge carriage and heads to make sure they're okay.
Can an HP rep inform me what my next step should be? Recontact Tech support?
    Thanks,
    Mike M.

What cartidges are you replacing? 932/933 or 950/951. I have an 8600, approximately 2 years old where the printer ran fine on 932/933 but now insists on 950/951.

My hard drive fried and had to be replaced. I'm trying to install CS4 from my original discs but keep getting this error message - "One or more of the required components of Adobe Creative Suite 4 Design Standard failed to install correctly". A customer service rep gave me a link to download off the Adobe site, but when I try to open the file to run it, I get this error message - "A problem occurred extracting the archive".
    Can anyone help?

Yep.  Nothing happens at all. Windows tries to execute the uninstaller, but I don't get any other screen and all activity stops for the MSI.  I monitored it in Process Monitor and the MSI executable appears, but is quickly ended, like it couldn't find anything or something.
It's as if windows has a blank entry in Programs and Features, because it used to show the size of the Adobe application in the "Size" column.  Now it's just blank.  Link to screenshot below:
    http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/5006/screenshotcaf.jpg
Note the install date.  That's when I was able to successfully reinstall it.  Now I can't even do that.  I should also mention I tried Revo Uninstaller.  It deleted one small registry key, but nothing changed.
By the way, is the CS cleaner supposed to ask for a disc in the drive when you run it?  It refused to run unless I had one in it, so I used my install dvd.

  • Error message: "One or more items can't be copied."

So I just upgraded from my old 256 USB stick to a 1GB iPod Shuffle. Now I can listen to music and transport my files between home and work in one device... or so I thought.
I tried to copy some important files to my shuffle today and I get the following error message:
"One or more items can't be copied. Do you want to skip them and copy the remaing items?"
So I click yes so skip the bad items, but instead it skips all the items and I can't copy my important stuff onto the shuffle. This doesn't seem to be a problem with my old 256 USB stick... anyone know how to fix this problem?

Can you be more specific about the filetype? any odd characters in the file names? is it music or data?
There's some filetypes you can't copy to an ipod. See this KB article

  • When I try to print my book I receive the following error message:  One or more of the images in your book are not presently available at full resolution. Please reconnect to these files by mounting the volume(s) containing the original images.

When I try to print my book, I receive the following error message:  One or more of the images in your book are not presently available at full resolution. Please reconnect to these files by mounting the volume(s) containing the original images.  I don't understand what this means since all the photos are in the book.  Can someone please clarify?

When you look at the images in the browser, do you see any arrow icons on your thumbnails? Like these:
When you import your images from a folder on your system drive, you have two ways to import:
Managed: Import and store the images in the library
Or referenced: Leave the images in the folder outside the Aperture library.
This is controlled by the "Store Files" settings in the Import panel:
If you did not set "Store files" to "In the Aperture Library", the originals will stay in the folder outside.
The error message you get, suggests that Aperture assumes the original files are in a folder outside the library.
Select one of your images in the Browser and use the command "File > Show in Finder" - is this command available or dimmed out?

I cant send pic messages to iphone users. I get the error message:  "one or more of the message components have been delted by MMS Adaptation.  Either the message was too large or the components were unsuitable for your handset".  This only seems to be an issue to iphones.  I like this phone but have had nothing but trouble since day one.  I am so tired of being on the phone with verizon and still not getting all the problems corrected.  Someone please help!

    Hello christina267,
Help is right here, front and center! Let's get your mms working properly. May I ask are you using the original stock messaging app to send texts and mms? Also, are you using any special characters or emojis in your message? Since you state that the issue is to iPhones, did you happen to have used an iPhone on your mobile number just before you were using the Galasy S 5? As you share the details then we can investigate.
    Thank you…

  • Trying to copy files and getting this error message, One or more items can't be copied because you don't have permission to read them. this is really annoying, can someone pls help..?

i have two network drive and i am trying to copy a file from my mac mini to one of the network drives, but i keep getting this error message "One or more items can’t be copied because you don’t have permission to read them." i have no idea why this is since i have always been able to copy stuff back and forth. i checked my file sharing permissions and it is set to read and write for admin (me), none for everyone and read for guests. can someone please, this is very annoying and this is the second time it has happened to me.

neither move nor copy is working. both way gives same error message. what i would like to do however is move the file. yes i am logged in as a the admin and the issue is affecting not just that particular file in my system but others as well. i looked at get info and no the file is not locked but under permission, it says everyone and read only. it will not let me change this setting from get info however when i look under system preferences for file sharing, my setting is read and write for admin (me), none for everyone and read for guests.

  • Following cartridges appear to be missing or damaged

    Hi,
I have an HP Officejet 6500A Plus. I've replaced the ink in the printer several times since I purchased it, however I've had A LOT of problems with these cartridges. I keep getting the error prompt "the following cartridges appear to be missing or damaged." I've owned HP printers since the early days with my first Mac, but never have I had this problem. There is no real secret to installing these cartridges, but I waste more time getting error message off than I do printing. That's not productive.
So if I'm missing something, please tell me what because this sure is a pain.

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500A 910A "Ink cartridges appear to be missing or damaged"

I have a yellow ink cartridge that is still 75% full but now my printer is giving me the error message, "Ink cartridges appear to be missing or damaged".  I have tried all of the troubleshooting tips recomended by HP and all have failed other than replacing the cartridge, and that worked.  I am trying claim a warranty on this cartridge as it is still well within the warranty date.  HOWEVER, everytime I input the information, the page switches to the sales page!!! I am ready to throw this $350 POS HP 8500a out the door and burn it then post the video on youtube of how crappy the service and product is!  PLEASE GIVE THE DIRECT LINK TO OBTAIN THE WARRANTY ON THIS INK CARTIDGE!!!! Or is this your plan to make people so frustrated that they give up and you don't have to reemburse the customer?  Way to go customer service!!!
        Regards, Joanns

I'd advise calling HP phone support. You'll need to tell them the warranty ends date written on the cartridge...(no need to enter it on the website, as that's just for printer warranty)

I have a Photosmart Premuim C309a printer.  I have just installed a magenta cartridge and this message comes up. 'The following ink cartirdge(s) appeat to be missing or damanged. Hi Castletonway, Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you have recently replaced your Magenta cartridge on your HP Photosmart C309a printer and are now getting the error 'The following ink cartridges(s) appear to be missing or damaged. (pink square symbol) refer to printer documentation',  I understand your frustration and would like you to start here: 'Ink Cartridge Problem: The Following Print Cartridges Appear to be Missing or Damaged' Error Message Displays on the Computer Please complete all steps in order and let me know the outcome, I will watch for your reply. Thanks,

  • Re: one or more cartridges appear to be damaged

my printer is approximately 2 years old and no longer under warranty.  I just replaced two cartridges that were empty, approximately 60.00 worth of ink.  Printer had not been used in about two months as I could not afford to replace the ink.  Now I am getting an error message that two of my cartridges are damaged.  I pulled and inspected them.  They look fine but cleaned them anyway.  I have reset several times and still getting message.  Both cartridges are almost new just unused for the two months I was out of the other inks.  Printer is telling me I need to remove and replace.  There must be another solution as they are new and I refuse to replace new cartridges.  If this is the only solution then I will be buying a brand new printer made by a different company!!!!!  This printer cost me a little over 300.00 and ink is expensive!  Frustrated here to say the least!

The document here may help resolve ink cartridge errors on your Officejet Pro 8600 printer The area to clean would be the gold contacts.
