Error message opening file

Get error message - cannot preview file, not enough memory or file is too complex.
Not a big file or complex....
Any ideas how to overcome this?

You have told us nothing about the file. Why do you think it not a big or complex file? Large linked images, nested effects, multiple fills and strokes on objects and layers and groups, and other aspects to the file could be making things difficult.
You have told us nothing about your version of Illustrator. Different versions have different quirks which can effect performance or memory.
You have told us nothing about your system. Are you on Mac or Widows? Which version of the OS? How much RAM does your system have? How new is it?
If you are willing to let others see the content of the file you could post a link to it in a reply. You cannot upload Illustrator files to the forum but you can upload them elsewhere then paste a link to that file in a reply. The easiest way is to have Dropbox and put the file in your Dropbox/Public folder. If you do not have Dropbox, this link will help you set up a free account with 2GB of storage. You will find Dropbox convenient.
When you ask for help on this forum you are asking expensive professionals to work for you for free. The fewer of these questions we need to ask the more likely we are to answer your questions and the more likely those answers are correct.

  • What does the error message "Opening file in iCloud(state=5) mean?

I have been ushing iCloud to backup my data for Ascendo DataVault for my iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4) and original iPad (iOS 5.1.1) very successfully for some time.  Both devices are synchronized with my PC using Wi-Fi.  The DataVault data on my PC is also synchronized on my wife's iPhone 5 (iOS 7.0.4) and iPad Mini (iOS 7.0.4).  Recently, every attempt to synchronize my iPhone or iPad with my iCloud results in the error message "Opening file in iCloud(state=5)," but my wife's iPhone and iPad continue to synchronize with her iCloud without any problems.  What does this error message mean, and is there a cure for the problem?

    OK found a solution!
    It is really lame!
NEVER add a reminder in iCal dragging them into the Week or Day view!!!
Change to Month view and then drag the reminder on the desired day!
You can now change to Week or Day view and move the reminder to the selected hours.
Please help share this solution and click like to get Apple to finally fix this issue, which is clearly on their side.

  • TS1424 I can't open iTunes. Get error message "the file iTunes library.itl cannot be opened because it was created by a newer version of iTunes"

I cannot open itunes.  Getting error message: "the file iTunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of iTunes"
What do I need to do so I dont lose all my loaded music, etc.?
    Thanks

If you still have an issue you may have to see about using the iTunes version (application) included with Snow Leopard 10.6 from the installer or an another one if available online, and see if that will install.
Sometimes you may have uninstall the bits left in your system by the earlier (or later) iTunes installers; as they all leave a trace and these can stop a different version of iTunes from being installed.
Not sure if the following site/link will tell the method...

  • Printing from Preview produces error message "The file couldn't be opened".

    Hi,
Ever since the upgrade to OS X 10.8, I get the error message "The file couldn't be opened" each time I want to print from Preview. I just have to click "OK" and then everything prints fine, but if anyone knows how to get rid of this message, it would be even better!
I have run "Verify disk permissions" without success.
The system is on an SSD volume whereas my home volume is on an internal HD. But other users with (smaller) accounts residing on the system volume have the same problem.
Each time I open the print dialog, the following message appears in the logs:
com.apple.Preview.TrustedBookmarksService[2159]: Failure to de-serialize bookmark data file.
I removed  files related to Preview in ~/Library/Preferences/
There is no *.plist file in ~/Library/Application Support/Preview

Since when do we write error messages with "n't"?
Usually a well written error message offers a suggestion as to what you might do about it?
Since it says opened and I clicked on Save, there is a bug in there somewhere.
All I was trying to do today was copy and paste some text from a website into numbers spreadsheet
Both Edit > Paste options but the text in one cell so I tried to save it as a text file first to try and import the data
Text Edit does not have a text only export format so before loading Terminal and starting vi or emacs, I tried pages. I'll go try XCode's editor or my Windows 7 vm with notepad and openoffice
I miss the old Pages with the Appleworks importer, this one needs more Quality Assurance Testing IMHO

  • Error message - Original file could not be found

When I open itunes, and try to click on a song, there is an "!" and I get the error message "original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?"
It does this for every song. I have to trace it down to "My Music\itunes\itunes\itunes music" and under that I have hundreds of files by artist.
How can I listen to the songs so I don't have to click on each one to make them play?
I hope you can help me.

First, a correction from my previous post: At the beginning I meant to write The iPod wasn't designed to sync playlist-related information back to iTunes.
And as for the polydorus link, let's try this .
    Sorry about that.
Does that make sense? Do I need both folders?
No, in the end you'll only need one but I'm still not sure which one.
*I think the difference is there are no folders like in wndows, but the itunes library leads me directly to my library on the itunes website
I don't understand what you mean by the itunes library leads me directly to my library on the itunes website.
It sounds like there is only one iTunes database - iTunes Library.itl - file and that it's in your iTunes1 folder. Whether or not that is the case, what I'd like you to do is follow the instructions in this article in the Apple Knowledge Base for opening an alternate iTune Library file. Select the Choose Library option and use the navigtion window that appears to make your way to an .itl file.
Select the .itl and iTunes will open with a Library that may - or may not - be different than what you last saw: somewhat different contents or exclamation marks may be present again.
If it's not a library you're happy with, close iTunes, wait ten seconds or so and then repeat the procedure looking for another .itl file - each one contains references for a different iTunes library.
When you find a library you're happy with, i.e. all the contents are listed and no exclamation marks, make a note of the location of that .itl. It's the one you're going to want to work with.
Using that database file, you can go back to iTunes, right-click various songs > Get Info > Summary tab and look to the bottom of that window to find out where that Library is being directed for those files. Make a note of that location.
When we know those two things, we should be able to proceed from there with deleting things.
In the future, when I buy new songs from apple, where will they automatically get stored?
In the location that's been selected in iTunes Edit menu > Preferences > Advanced tab for the iTunes Music folder.
What will happen when I sync my ipod on the computer?
That brings us back to the beginning of this post, by default the synch goes from iTunes to your iPod. So you shouldn't synch your iPod unless there's a satisfactory Library being displayed in iTunes.

  • Upgrade Plug-ins error (Cannot Open File)

I was working on a document in CS3 as a final thesis for my masters work. I was using a Blurb template in order to export the file for printing. In between working on the file, one afternoon I could no longer open the file and was met with the follwing error:
    Cannot Open File
    IMAGE.RPLN
    IMAGE FILTERS.RPLN
    HYPERLINKS.RPLN
    "Cannot open "Masters_book dec.indd".
Please upgrade your plug-ins to their latest
versions, or upgrade to the latest version of
    Adobe InDesign."
I hadn't changed any other files on my computer or ran any updates. I was simply met with the error when I tried launching the application. After trying to run necessary updates I was still met with the same error message. I downloaded the trial version of CS5 on another machine and tried to open it and was once again met with the above error message. I have a back up of the file that I can use but it still represents a lot of lost work if I have to resort to an old file.

I probably shouldn't dwell, on this, but I can get really worked up over it.
I come from the Cosmos and I can assure you we have sent no "Rays" to your puny Earth Planet today!(*)
Since this concerns a CS3 file and I haven't seen posts of others having the same issue, either with CS3 or with any other version, I have to take it as a One-Time Fluke.
I'm pretty firmly convinced this never happens. There are real problems and even if we only see them once, they are happening hundreds and thousands of times and going unreported and undetected, but they are no less real. In fact, because of the reporting bias towards repeatable problems, they are probably causing added frustration and confusion without being detected or fixed properly. So, IMNSHO, we owe a larger duty to pay attention to so-called "unreproducible" bugs.
(You can imagine how well these conversations with Adobe Support go...)
Of course, in this case, it's probably really hard to find the problem. And since it's effectively an end-of-life'd product that is 3 versions behind the released product and at least 4 versions behind the development product, well, it's hard to lose too much sleep over it.
(*) Yes, I know, this incident would not have been "today." Consider it time dilation.

  • IWeb 08 error message "The file format is invalid"

I have been reading all of the problems regarding publishing iweb pages at the moment, I too cannot publish my site but I get a different error message
    "The file format is invalid"
Can anyone help as to why I might be getting this message?
My iDisk seems to have a very old version of my website stored and I don't know where to look to find the current versions files?
Why hasn't iDisk got the most up to date version of my iWeb site and how do I get it to have?
Which folder on the iDisk should your iWeb files be stored in?
Sorry to ask so many questions but I am new to the publishing part after spending weeks building a site only to find it I get an error and my iDisk file structure holds old files.

When I opened iWeb I could see the most up-to-date version of my site, I could edit it and save it (to where I don't know). When I opened the web and sites folder on my iDisk it contained only the files from a previous version of my website created months ago.
I tried looking for the Domain file for my iWeb site and looked in my home folder, application support and then iWeb but the iWeb file in App support was empty.
I believe the iWeb file in App support is where the Domain file should be located, correct?
I have used Time machine to go back a week and have located the domain file and have restored it. The domain file now sits in the iWeb folder in App support in my Home, where it should be.
Now when I load iWeb I see the version of my website that was created a week ago which is fine but iDisk still has the old file structure of my site from months ago.
Can I delete the old file structure completely from the Sites folder on my iDisk? this should remove the old version of my website shouldn't it?
How do I get the restored version of my website to appear in iDisk?
Do I simply copy the Domain file into the sites folder on iDisk?
My iWeb files on Mobile me are also the months old versions, how do I update these so my new site is all that I can see?
Any answers to my 'File format' problem when trying to upload, is it because I don't have my iWeb files in the correct places?

    Hi Danlew,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion g7 Notebook and errors on restore. Try performing a hard reset. When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices, and remove memory cards from the card reader slot. Disconnect all non-essential devices.
Are you able to boot into safe mode? If so are you getting the same Windows is not genuine message?  If you are not sure how to boot to safe mode use method 2 in this link.
If that does not help try to turn on the computer you start to press F11 repeatedly till the menu opens. You can do a system restore.

  • "An error occured opening file".

Hello, I am using flash cs 6 on Win 7, i was working on a project and my machine  got  shutdown due to lights, now i am getting error  "An error occured opening file". Can anybody please help me to recover this file?

There is a way to try to recover it, and it may work. That is to take the couurpt .fla file, rename the ".fla" extension to ".rar" and open it in winrar. (When doing this, at some point yo will get a warning saying "this could damage the file", you can safely ignore this message.) Next, you open the file with winrar, and under one of the drop-dwon menus you have the opition that says "fix". click that. It'll load for a second then say "fix successful". Take the new .rar file that was just made, rename it back to the.fla extention, and try to open it in flash.
I've read where people said it worked, but it never did for me (mine has gotten corrupt twice)

  • Capture error message and write the error message to file

Anyone know that how to caputre the error message which is generated in a scope catch? and then write the error message to file?
    Thanks a lot!!

    Hi,
    Please try the following:
    1. Double click on the newly created catch activity (denoted by an ‘!’ symbol
    on it)
    2. In the General Tab, Click on the ‘Browse Faults’ icon (denoted by a torch
    symbol)
    3. A fault chooser window opens, (Eg. Expand partner links->CreditRatingService
    -> CreditRatingService -> FaultNegativeCredit)
    4. Create a variable (Eg. Fault1_NegativeCredit) in the Fault chooser window to store this value.
    5. Create a partner link, configured as a file adapter. (Specify your output file in this file adapter wizard)
    6. Invoke this partner link and pass the 'Fault1_NegativeCredit' variable to that partner link
I hope you are aware of the terms I used, the steps are just guide lines. practically, u need to do a few more steps. Please refer the BPEL tutorials on exception handling and file adapters. that will help you...
    best regards

  • Error message "Live file system repair is not supported."

System won't boot. Directed to Disk Utility to repair but get error message "Live file system repair is not supported."  Appreciate all help.
    Thanks.
    John

I recently ran into a similar issue with my Time Machine backup disk. After about 6 days of no backups - I had swapped the disk for my photo library for a media project; I reattached the Time Machine disk and attempted a backup.
Time Machine could not backup to the disk. Running Disk Utility and attempting to Repair the disk ended up returning the "Live file system repair is not supported" message.
After much experimentaion with disk analysis softwares, I came to the realization that the issue might be that the USB disk dock wasn't connected directly to the MacBook Pro - it was daisy-chained through a USB Hub.
Connecting the USB disk dock directly to the MBP and running Disk Utility appears to have resolved the issue. DU ran for about 6 hours and succesfully repaired the disk. Consequently, I have been able to use that Time Machine disk for subsequent backups.
