Error message please restart your computer also skype demanding password

For about six weeks I get a random demand to restart my MacBook (about 2008 vintage)
WHen I restart I get a long list to send to Apple.
Today I also found that skype doesn't work even after a clean reinstall?
Thanks

Jonkpirateboy did you migrate/transfer/copy your CS5.5 application to this new Mac?
If so then please utilize the uninstallers located in the Applications/Utilities/Adobe Installers folder.  You will then want to run the CC Cleaner Tool located at Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6 - http://helpx.adobe.com/creative-suite/kb/cs5-cleaner-tool-installation-problems.html.
Finally if you need a fresh copy of the installation files they are available for download at Download CS5.5 products.

When I try to start my macbook it gives an error of Please restart your computer, but when i do this i get the same error. This occured after my macbook pro shut down (because of low battery) while it was installing some updates. Please Help?

Try reinstalling OS X. What version did you have installed? If it's Snow Leopard do this:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
    Do the following:
    1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install the Combo Updater for the version you prefer from support.apple.com/downloads/.

  • I was installing a new update on my MacBook Pro. With only 20% left it said "an unknown error had occured, please restart your computer." Now that I've restarted - I can't log in!

Ok, my MacBook haven't had any issues earlier, until today. At first Safari was acting kind of weird in that sense that a lot of letters were missing when you went on certain webpages, so I thought of updating since an alert-window popped up and notified that new updates were ready to be installed. So I opened up App Store through my Applications-folder and selected update.
First it asked if I wanted to connect my Mac to a powersource but since I had charged the battery to 79% I didn't think it was necessary. So I continued, computer restarted and began installing the updates.
Everything went fine until it was approximately three minutes left. An error message popped up and said something like "An unknown error has occured. Please restart your computer and try again". I pressed OK, rebooted my computer and when it asked for my password I typed it in. After I pressed OK, the computer indicated it was the wrong password. I tried multiple times and sometimes with different passwords... so now I can't simply log in! What's the problem?
TL;DR - Updated mac, failed after five minutes and now I can't log back in since "I have the wrong password"

  • Please restart your computer or verify your Compressor installation is corr

Please restart your computer or verify your Compressor installation is correct. - That's what it says every time I try to compress anything, it was working but after installing new programs I think it messed it up. Anyone help me?

This is how I fixed it:
    http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6246491#6246491
It seems like qmasterd just needs a kick-start. All I had to do, was to start the qmasterd using a few simple Terminal commands. That made SystemStarter start qmasterd on startup of OS X again.
If my suggestion does not work, have a look at Matthew Judy's solution linked to in the same thread.
    Good luck!

  • Windows Updates Loops (Please restart your computer to finish installing updates

    Hi Mike,
Thanks for the response!  I am a little confused though. Which update do you mean? I am seeing quite a few pending.

Hi All,A ton of our clients have recently been getting caught in a loop of "please restart your computer to finish installing updates", configuring the updates, and then restarting to come back to the exact same thing. The updates never seem to apply. I know this is not a new problem, but the old methods do not seem to be working to fix it. Here is what I've done/ what I know so far.1. We use CentraStage RMM for patching. I've looked into it and it does not appear to be a problem on the CentraStage end.2. So far I am only seeing this on Windows 7 machines.3. I believe this started sometime in the last 3 weeks, and has definitely been going on longer than 2 weeks.4. No updatesare "failing" that I can see (see screenshot 2). The same updates appear to be pending after every reboot though (even though it is definitely configuring...

  • "please restart your computer from the power button" message

    Hi,
I woke up yesterday and the computer´s fans where running like crazy. Everything was frozen so I pushed the power button in for a few seconds and restarted the computer. When it came up I used it for like half an hour and it froze again. I did the same thing because the keyboard was´t working eather.
It did that a couple of more times during the day. So I started shutting it down when I wasn´t using it.
Last night, the last time it happened, I was checking my email and this message came on full screen in 4 languages.
*"Please restart you computer by pressing the power button for a few seconds"*
Or something very similar to this.
I did it and I haven´t turn it on since then.
In the middle of all this I checked the disk and it said is was fine, the permissions as well. I don´t know if it means something thought.
I don´t know if it´s a hardware or software issue, any ideas?
    Thanks!!!!

    Hi japamac,
This morning the computer froze again... no messages but I had to restart it.
So, I did the things you pointed:
+-Boot to the OS X Install disc, in the second window after the language selection, from the Menu bar, select Utilities/Disk utility, and use that to "Repair Disk" on your hard drive.+
I did this and the disk was fine... it said something like +nothing to repair+
+-In the original software discs is one with the Apple Hardware test.+
+Boot to that disc and run the extended hardware test to verify system performance.+
Did the extensive test and as soon as the dialog box came up, under test results next to MEMORY, it said: error detected at startup. Then It went throughout the devises and everything passed (including the MEMORY) but there was an error code *post/0/2048 DIMMO/J11*
So, I tried to download Rember but it`s for 10.5 and higher... I´m still using 10.4... is there a similar software for my OS?
    Thanks for your help!

  • I just upgraded to 4.0, but every time I try to log on, I get an error message that says "Your computer must be restarted to complete a previous upgrade of Firefox." I restarted three times and I still get that same message.

When I got the error message, I logged off and then signed back in to this same desktop computer. When that didn't change anything I shut it down and restarted it. No change, so I rebooted again without actually shutting the computer down, and again, no change. I can only access Firefox via Explorer when I log in as "Tech Support" on my computer instead of my own user name.

    Hi,
Please try deleting the '''updates.xml''' file and the '''updates''' folder in the Firefox [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installation_directory installation directory], if present.

  • IPOD ERROR MESSAGE:   Connect to your computer. Use Itunes to restore.

Whenever I turn my ipod on after its been off for a few hours the screen displays "Connect to your computer. Use Itunes to restore" and then goes blank. I turn the ipod back on again and it appears to work normally but the battery is showing close to zero even though it has been freshly charged!
I have restored the ipod several times as it suggests but this does not get rid of the error message. Is my ipod screwed? I'm surprised there are very few posts on this topic too...
    I have a 30Gb ipod video running v1.2.1

I just found this support document which explains the issue exactly.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=303915
Looks like a visit to Regent St is needed.
The reason why I am surprised about the lack of posts on this topic is that I can't believe my issue is so unique. Surely out of the millions of ipod users out there this exact same issue would have been reported more frequently.

  • Error message: "Please review your billing information and approve it"

I keep getting this message and I'm pulling my hair out. It says my account information has changed. My account information changed because I was having trouble ordering a book when iPhoto suddenly decided to decline my credit card even though I had just successfully used it moments before on a different book. So I re-entered my billing information. It is identical to what I had before. So then I get this message saying my billing info has changed and please review it and approve it. So I click okay but it doesn't actually take me anywhere. So I click on Account Info, look at the info and it's all correct, there's nothing to change. So I click okay and try again. Then it says to enter a valid security code. I go back and re-enter my security code. Then I get a message saying "Please enter a valid security code." AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!

    Check with Apple at:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphoto.html
    http://www.apple.com/support/iphoto/customerservice/orderbooks/
One of those should get you some help.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
