  • Searching for Missing File Message

When I click on a picture in Organizer getting a message "searching for missing file". The picture opens ok, but then get the preceding message which eventually goes away.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening.
    Thanks

It means you moved or renamed the file outside of PSE (e.g. with Windows Explorer).   PSE is searching your folders for the new location, and it sounds like it is finding it.  It is much better to only move photos and folders containing photos within PSE.

  • PSE5 "searching for missing file"

Whenever I click on a thumbnail picture it gives me the message "Searching for missing file". Some of the pictures I was able to view only hours ago and now they are apperently missing. I have not done anything differently with these pictures. When I click on browse to search for the missing file, it is unable to locate the picture. I am afraid I have just lost hundreds of pictures!

PSE keeps only the hard disk references (location) of the files imported. So, whenever any operation like file renaming, moving to some other location, editing etc happen to a file outside PSE, the file go missing in PSE. On double clicking a file, PSE tries to connect its thumbnail to the original file on hard disk and when it does not find the file, it shows "Reconenct" dialog.
To reconnect the file, you've 2 options - Auto Reconnect & Manual Reconenct
For Auto reconenct just double click the file and allow the dialog to search for file on your hard disk. This can be at times time consuming process.
You can also connect your files manually:
    1) Type "Ctrl + K" on app. A preference dialog will open
    2) Choose "Files" from left side and uncheck second preference to "Automatically search for and reconnect missing files".
    3) Click "Ok" to save the settings
    4) Double click a missing file to open manual reconnect dialog.
    OR
4') To reconnect all missing files in one go --> Goto File menu --> Reconnect --> All missing files. An engine will search all the files that are missing from the catalog and a manual reconnect dialog will be shown..
    5) Now, you can connect each file seperately by manually searching the hard disk.

  • Searching for missing files and damaged photo icon

I am trying to view photos that I have viewed in this program numerous times before but now when I click on the photos, I get a message that says "searching for missing files". Sometimes, the photo appears with a red icon below it that resembles a wripped photo. Does this mean my photo has been damaged by the program?

I too have been told to find them on my hard drive but still nothing comes up, I can find the picture name and then do a search, but nothing. I've tried several times and it just keeps saying seach for missing files not found. I can see my collection of pictures, but there blury and then when I try to click on them, it says searching for missing file and it gives me the file name, and then I've tried to go under my search and put that file name in and nothing comes up, I also got NO help from adobe and they want us to buy more products??? They could have warned us somehow on what happens if you move them or try and put them on disc, and that's what happen, I put some on disk or at least thought I did and then realized I didn't want to do that, so I hit the UNDUE and I guess it was so late or something, cuz I can see the pictues, just can't open them. I'm wandering if I need to have a expert see if he can get them off of Adobe, I really want the pictues I have graduation pictures on there and need them very much. Would love to have help from anybody. Please.
    Thank you

  • Organizer. not able to turn off "automatic search for missing files"

Organizer starts searching for missing files. files that i have deleted, and the programme just keep on forever searching for those already deleted files. When i try to turn off that function, the organizer just stops. Running the program on Imac 2010.

That's the thing with the Elements Organizer - once you start managing your media in it you must also use it for all subsequent maintenance so that it retains integrity.
To try and resolve the Find> all Missing Files crash problem go to File> Manage Catalogs and Repair your current catalog. Follow that with an Optimize. See if you can now find them without the crash.
If Find> All Missing Files is still causing a crash, you could try File> Reconnect> All Missing Files. As that searches your entire hard disk for one image at a time, and will take a very long time if you did a lot of deletions with your EasyDuplicateFinder program, wait for it to finish examining your catalog then cancel the attempt to find each image. Now in your organizer each of the missing files thumbnails will have a question mark at top left - you can then delete these from the catalog. After you've done quite a few retry Find> All Missing Files again to see if it will run without crashing.

  • Searching for missing files, using PSE6

After I have transfered a batch of photos using the -file -get photos -From files and folders, the thumbnails appear in         " Organizer" but when I want to look at the photos in full screen they come up unclear and a dialogue box comes up ," searching for missing files" I then click on "browse" and the folder from which i have transfersd the photos, in "My Pictures" is not shown in the list. I have done this with an other folder of photos and it is also not shown in the list, as if they have dissapeared. The folders are still in " My Pictures"
I am totally frustrated with trying to get past first base with this program I have spent many hours trying to find a solution

It sounds like you may be encountered one of the drive-handling bugs in PSE.  To diagnose that, download and run the free utility "psedbtool":

Copy and paste the output in a reply here.

  • Can't retrieve project from early Photoshop Elements 5.0 as program is searching for Missing Files.  These were transferred from that computer and then lost HELP

When I bought my new laptop I transferred "My Pictures" onto a memory stick then onto the new laptop which are now lost.  I have a very important family holiday/wedding still on my old computer in Photoshop Elements 5.0.  The photos are there but when I open them I get a window where PE is "searching for missing file".  Is there any way I can save these photos please?

  • Getting an error message about a missing file when I try to open Firefox

When I tried to open Firefox today I received a message about a missing file (Wrusr.ddl) and that Firefox was not able to open. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling but it did not work. I have no idea what that file is or where is went. I used Firefox 2 days ago and it was working fine. The only thing that changed between then and today was that I renewed my antivirus software but I definitely did not delete any files and I made sure that Firefox is allowed to access the internet. I've been using that same software (Webroot) with Firefox for years and never had any issues before today. Any help would be greatly appreciated! I have included a screenshot of the error message below.

hello angelag.132, the WRusr.dll file is part of Webroot SecureAnywhere - try to reinstall or uninstall that software.

  • Search for missing file - can't remove it

I keep getting "Searcing for missing file"  I cancel it and shut the system down and it comes back every time.  When I go into the pictures there is a little red broken box at the bottom of them.  How do I stop this?

When you 'add' your pictures to Starter Edition, the program notes where the file is, and creates a reference thumbnail representation of the picture for you, so that you can work with a large collection of files in different places on your hard drive. If you move or delete any of your pictures, that will result in outdated references to your files in Starter Edition. That is what is meant by 'missing file'; the file has been moved, deleted, or renamed.
The way to make it stop is to delete the picture of your file (with the red icon) in Starter Edition, because it is no longer able to locate the original moved/deleted/renamed file.
The other way to fix it is to move the file back to wherever the program 'thinks' the original file is.

  • Searching for missing files?

    Using LR4 and a Mac:
    1. My main drive shows I have 42,619 photos, however, I also see that on my Macintosh HD I have folders for 2001 with 9 photos, 2009 with 0 photos and a folder for 2012 with 1297 photos. All 3 of these folders have a question mark next to them. I have no idea why these folders are here, because I store all of my photos on the external drive with the 42,619 photos. When I expand these folders I get photos with question marks indicating the photos are offline. Any idea what might be going on with these 1297 photos?
    2. Is there a way to search all of LR to find any missing photos/videos that somehow became unlinked/offline?
    Thanks!

Possibly at some point in the past you imported photos to your main drive rather than the external drive, and then moved them using the Finder.
Regardless, the command Library > Find All Missing Photos will find all photos in the catalog that don't currently exist on the hard drive.

  • Attempting to upgarde itunes and I get an error message looking for "an alternate path to a folder containing 'iTunes.msi' location.  I've searched my hard drive and the file doesn't exist.  What to do?

Attempting to upgarde itunes and I get an error message looking for "an alternate path to a folder containing 'iTunes.msi' location.  I've searched my hard drive and the file doesn't exist.  What to do?

This worked...found on a prior discussion:
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page)...
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
From the link above (near the top of the page)....Under 'download locations'   click on 'download@majorgeeks'
To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you just downloaded and ran.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    Restart your computer.
Re-download Itunes (latest version form Itunes website) and install.  It worked!

I get a Microsoft Visual C   Runtime Library Error message: Program C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes\iTunes.exe R6025.  Pure virtual functional call.  If I select ok, Windows 7 pops up with iTunes has stopped working and then it shuts iTunes down.  Anyone else every have this issue.  Any ideas on a fix?
    Thanks,

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

  • TS3212 the new download of itunes will not run. I get a message during the process that I need to verify that I have sufficient privilege. then I get an error 126 and a missing file MSVCR80.dll. what can I do?

I'm trying to download the new version of itunes. durig the install i get a message that I need to verify that I have sufficient privilege. Then I get a message of a Windows error 126 and a missing file MSVCR 80.dll. I've tried everything on the support site and nothing works.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
