Error message trying to download Kindle book

I can get a free Kindle book but when I select download I get the following error message:
"Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (ohttp) isn't associated with any program."

I was referring to that dreaded box that pops up and says something to the effect of having encountered a problem and has to shut down whatever page you are viewing and you have the option to send the error message to Microsoft. I have tried to download the reader using both Opera and internet explorer. I am using Windows XP Pro 2002 service pack 3 Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHZ 2.99 GHZ 512 MB Ram/ I have never had problems with any previous downloads of reader and really don't understand why it is telling me I need to update a service pack for Windows 2000? I understand enough about computers to be dangerous and will ultimitely probably mess up a direction that will make me take it into the shop. I just hoped that there was a possible easy fix?
Thanks for your time.

  • Safari error when trying to download ePub books

For years I have been purchasing books through several websites on my ipad.  When it comes time to download the book I would choose the ePub format and a box would pop up asking me if I would like to open the book in iBooks or Overdrive.  I always choose iBooks and the book would open.  Now I am getting an error message that says Safari can not open this file.  I don't understand because I have been doing it for this way for years, I have ordered books from these websites many times so they reputiable.  I was able to download the same file to my apple desktop and open it in itunes so I know there is not a problem with the file the problem is with my ipad.  I tried deleting iBooks on the ipad and reinstalling it but still get the same error.  Does anyone have any suggestions.  My IPad has the latest software version and I'm at a loss as to what to try.  HELP!

Frankly, I don't know why this error is happening to you...but I'm interested in knowing why.
However, I suspect the problem is related to the way that books are stored on your device. Most users store their documents on iTunes, which manages book and music and such. On the most recent version of iTunes, most purchased books work fine, but importing other books may require some help - DropBox is free, and it's a good way to transfer ePub files so you can read them on your iPad.
In other words, use DropBox to manage your ePub files from now on. Guaranteed to work.

  • I keep getting error messages trying to download Microsoft Office 2013 ProPlus HUP

I am getting so frustrated. I have been trying to download this software for over a month. I'm not sure what else to do. I got a download link after I purchased the software through the HUP program. When I click it I get an error message that says "We're
sorry.  We had a problem installing your Office program(s).  Is your internet connection working?  Do you have enough space on your main hard drive?  Please try installing again after you have checked the above".
My internet connection is fine.  I have tons of space on my hard drive.  I have removed all trial versions of Office that came with the computer.  I went into 'regedit' and deleted the office registry.
I even purchased the backup disc and tried that and get an error saying something like it couldn't 'mount' or something like that.  I had a Microsoft tech who remoted into my computer and was trying to download it for me for over an hour and even they
    gave up.
Anyone else having this issue and is there any suggestion on how to fix?
FYI, I'm using a Dell Inspiron laptop and have Windows 8.1 (recently upgraded from Windows 8).  Would appreciate any help!

    Hi,
    Try the following steps:
    1. Check windows updates.
    2. Try the Microsoft Fix it in this kb to remove previous install completely:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2739501/en-us
    3. Reboot.
    4. Try installing again.
This seems helpful on the issue.
As always, thank you for your suggestion, Don:)

  • After updating Firefox I keep getting a 3259 error message trying to download songs from I Tunes

After using Firefox for quite some time after one of the updates, I can no longer download songs from ITunes, it gives me an error message 3259. ITunes says it is coming from my software. Any suggestions?

Not there aren't any special settings for this. You just use the Open In feature to save the document into Pages. You could have a font in the document that Pages doesn't like, maybe something that you copied and pasted from somewhere into the document that went corrupt. But there is nothing special about the way that you save a Word document into Pages. You save it like you save any document or file into a compatible app.

Hi I had a similar issue to you, I could connect to the router but no internet. Here is my explanation of how I sorted it.....I hope this works for you.
*To anyone that is reading this it appears that the problem lay in the airport setting: IPV6: set to 'Automatically'. I turned it off (after reading someones plight on MacFixIt) & everything is back to normal.*
*The worrying thing is although my problem was extreme with other computers on the network being locked out nothing was changed, one minute it worked the next it didn't. Reading on other forums it appears to be a problem with laptops (but I could be mistaken). A lot of people on the Macfixit forum are complaining of network just dropping out even when they are next to the router.*
*I hope this is the fix (although I dont know why it suddenly went to sh*t!) & I hope my hair pulling & trawling the forums can help someone else out.*
    Much Respect
    Lammo
