Error message upon opening Microsoft word, Excel, etc.

I'm hoping someone can shed some light. I am a NEW user of Macs and just bought an iMac and have been having fun however I am getting an error message every time I open the Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. programs in Microsoft Office 2004 that say "An unexpected error occurred while trying to load the Microsoft Framework library. Anyone know what I should do to get rid of this message from popping up each time? Thanks!
Sean

Have installed Lion, but Lion says it will not support microsoft office programs words.  Is this a major glitch with Lion?  I cannot believe Apple would create a operation system not conducive to running word, excell etc.!!!  Anyone know what the fix is?

There is no glitch. Lion does support Office and Word. You can use Office 2008 or 2011.

  • Will iWork open Microsoft Word & Excel documents ?

Do I need to install Microsoft Word & Excel or Apple iWork to open documents that are emailed in Word & Excel ? I am going to run Windows XP Pro on this machine.

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
Apples iWork or better said Pages can open Word documents and Numbers can open Excel documents.
But iWork is only avaiable for Mac OSX, not for Windows.
When running Windows you either need the MS Office package (or MS Word and MS Excel as standalone programs) or you can use the free OpenOffice http://www.openoffice.org/
OpenOffice is also avaiable for Mac OSX.

  • Just Updated to 10.9.5 Now iPhoto 8.1.2 Won't Open-Microsoft Word & Excel Won't Open

I have a MacBook Pro now running 10.9.5
I updated last night to the 10.9.5 version and after doing so my iLife applications stop working: iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand
My Microsoft Word and Excel stop working as well.
Every time i try to open these applications i get error and they just won't open.
" iPhoto quit unexpectedly wile using the iPhoto plug-in"
I get this same message for all my applications.
I tried getting help from Apple and all they really told me was that I may need to update to my iPhoto by paying $15 bucks.
I'm upset that my applications have all failed me only after updating to new 10.9.5
This update was done at 10:30PM, all day my Microsoft Apps and iPhoto app were working fine and now I'm out of luck?

iLife 11 is only available thru 3rd party retailers like Amazon.com or eBay.com.  That will install iPhoto 9.0 and you can get to 9.4.3 vis these updaters:
1 - update to iPhoto 9.2.1 - you may be able to go from here directly to 9.4.3
    2 - update to iPhoto 9.3
    3 - update to iPhoto 9.3.2
    4 - update to iPhoto 9.4
    5 - and finally to iPhoto 9.4.3

  • Javascript error message upon opening gmail only in firefox

I get a javascript error message (Error: embeds[i].attributes.getNamedItem("src") is null) upon opening gmail, but only only in firefox, not in safari. I had firefox ver. 16.0.2 installed, then downgraded to 15.0.1, but I still get the message. I have an old macbook pro, OS10.5.8 -- can't go any higher. How can I resolve this?
    Thank you.

I checked Gmail with a Firefox 16 version and it still works.
You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
You can reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and remove cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
*Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > "Use custom settings for history" > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.
*Switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window

  • Keynote error message upon opening file

This is a relatively new problem with this file... used it for a while before the error message started appearing. I'm attaching a screenshot. The presentation looks and works fine - so I don't believe I actually need the files.
I use this file once or twice a week so if someone knows how to fix this I'd really appreciate it.

Open Photoshop and check Edit - Preferences - General.
Note the History Log section at the bottom.  What's set there?  Is it possible it's set to save a log of edits to a file in a folder that no longer exists?

I can't click on anything other then the error message window either.
    Please help?

Lightroom is presently at version 5.7.1 and there have been a multitude of fixes since version 5.2.

On opening, Illustrator needs to read your preferences file - could it be locked? Could it be that you don't have full privileges?

  • Error message "Cannot find Microsoft Word installed on your system"

The problem occurred on RH8 (with all latest updates) on Windows Vista (SP2).
    Hi,
I suddenly encountered this error this week, when attempting to generate printed documentation, and finding I couldn't.
I found a previous very long thread and trawled through the many alternatives to try and fix the problem.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/244420
Only 2 weeks ago I was very happily generating printed documentation and couldn't understand why I was suddenly experiencing this issue.
I've had the odd problem with opening cetain file types since an automatic upgrade to Open Ofice within the last two weeks, so thought it might be connected to that. (I know (!) but I need Open Ofiice to edit docs from our non Windows users.) All attempts to uninstall and re-install RH, as well as Open Office had no effect.
Having looked at Peter Grainge's site (http://www.grainge.org/pages/authoring/printing/print_issues.htm#word_issues), I requested a copy of the MPJ2DOC.dll file from Peter, which he kindly sent me.
I'm extremely happy to say that this has resolved the issue.
I wanted to put a more recent posting on the forum, in case anyone else suddenly gets the same problem in a more recent version of RH8.
Thanks to Peter for his excellent site & help.

    Feebeegeebee

First, thanks to Wkugelman for this new initiative. I think
we are a big step nearer, but not quite there yet.

If I manually type in the path to the shortcut, RoboHelp
tells me the path is invalid.
This happens to me on XP too, so there must be some other
problem. I do have adminsistrator rights on this PC. Here's what I
    do
    1) Find WINWORD.EXE and create a shortcut to it on my
desktop. I rename it to WINWORD.EXE
    2) In RH. Menu:Tools > Options > Tab:Tool Locations
    > Pane: HTML Editors
    3) Select the line Word 2003 and click the Edit... button to
    change the path
    4) I get a popup called HTML Editor with Word 2003 grayed out
above, and a path selector text box below.
    5) Now it doesn't matter whether I use the path browser icon
and navigate to my new shortcut, or whether I enter the path
manually. When I click OK I get a popup saying the path is invalid
or I return to the HTML Editor popup but the path to Word has not
    changed (it remains C:\Program Files\Microsoft
    Office\OFFICE11\WINWORD.EXE ).
Notes: It doesn't matter whether the path is on C:\ where
Program Files (with Office11 And Adobe Robohelp 7 reside), or on
D:\ where my "My Documents" directory is with subdirectory My
    Robohelp projects.
I have also played around with the two radio buttons at the
bottom of the Tool Locations tab:
    * Auto-select editor and
    * Use default editor
But to no avail. Can someone explain what these options
    change?
If protections on the OFFICE11 directory or Winword
executable are the problem, wouldn't it be simpler to loosen these
so that RH can use it?

  • Error message upon opening iphoto

message reads: an error occurred while trying to save your iphoto library. some recent changes may be lost. make sure hard disk has enough space and that iphoto is able to access the iphoto library folder.
this message began appearing after having boot camp installed. hard disk still show over 50gb of available space. i can no longer add, move, or organize any of my photos. please help. thanks, dan

I have identical problem ("error occurred while trying to save iPhoto Library" etc) which started after installing Leopard (OS 10.5). Already have iPhoto 8 installed and 35 GB disk space.
Pictures I downloaded from a card reader were not saved. I am currently on vacation but when I return
to Cairns, NE Australia, I have two MAC stores within walking distance. They're outstanding Apple experts and I'm sure they'll fix it. WIll let you know how they do it.

  • Office X uninstalled, but files try to open in Word, Excel, etc. anyway

I uninstalled MS Office X removed all Library files (that looked appropriate for Office) and when I click on .xls or .doc or any other file with a typical Office extension, it still tries to open in the MS Office product, then fails.
How can I get rid of these references?
I'm now either using Pages, KeyNote or NeoOffice.
    TIA

Ah, you've run into the fruits of the labors of the hapless Updater Team, to whom the individual members of which the Adobe engineers and program managers probably want to wring their necks—or worse.
After reading a tip on this forum, I was able yesterday to get a friends Photoshop install to work by simply running the original Photoshop installer DVD (without having to uninstall Photoshop first), and then running the 12.0.4 patch installer again.  Amazingly, it works.
