Error Message when I try to update my iPod and Nano

HELP! I am suddenly getting an error message when I try to update both my iPod and Nano that states "...certain songs could not be added because I am not authorized to play them on this computer..."
Any thoughts???

do you know which songs are being missed? (they will be itunes Music Store purchases.)
do they play in your itunes at the moment?
were they purchased through your iTunes Music Store account, or were they purchased by someone else (and your PC has been authorised to play songs from that account?)

  • Error message when I try to update my iPod Touch 4G 5.0.1 to 5.1.1

I'm trying to update my iPod from the 5.0.1 version to 5.1.1 and always I get error messages (error # 9134). The same happens when I try to restore it too.  Any of you know what happens?

This device is not eligible for the requested build: Also sometimes displayed as an "error 3194." If you receive this alert, update to the latest version of iTunes. Third-party security software or router security settings can also cause this issue. To resolve this, follow Troubleshooting security software issues.
Downgrading to a previous version of iOS is not supported. If you have installed software to perform unauthorized modifications to your iOS device, that software may have redirected connections to the update server (gs.apple.com) within the Hosts file. First you must uninstall the unauthorized modification software from the computer, then edit out the "gs.apple.com" redirect from the hosts file, and then restart the computer for the host file changes to take affect.  For steps to edit the Hosts file and allow iTunes to communicate with the update server, see iTunes: Troubleshooting iTunes Store on your computer, iPhone, iPad, or iPod—follow steps under the heading Blocked by configuration (Mac OS X / Windows) > Rebuild network information > The hosts file may also be blocking the iTunes Store. If you do not uninstall the unauthorized modification software prior to editing the hosts file, that software may automatically modify the hosts file again on restart. Also, using an older or modified .ipsw file can cause this issue. Try moving the current .ipsw file, or try restoring in a new user to ensure that iTunes downloads a new .ipsw.
Error 3194: Resolve error 3194 by updating to the latest version of iTunes. "This device is not eligible for the requested build" in the updater logs confirms this is the root of the issue. For more Error 3194 steps see: This device is not eligible for the requested build above.

Yes, I had found a similar solution also.  I'm running XP Pro, SP3.  I went Control Panels/ Add-Remove programmes/apple software update/ change/ repair.  Then run the 10.5 exe.
While the programme updated from version 8 of iTunes, my new iTunes is now a mess.  Not all of my music was in the same folder previously but it all showed up on iTunes.  Now many albums have been left out, some have only a few tracks and some have two copies of some tracks as well as having other tracks missing.  I haven't begun to work on that.

Try deleting the iPod Photo Cache folder. If location can be found here:

there was a problem downloading the software for the ipod of (my name) . the network connection has timeout

    Hi,
If any of you are getting the error: "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPod. The network connection timed out."
    Here's the solution:
TO ANY OF YOU WHO ARE HAVING PROBLEMS UPDATING THEIR IPOD TOUCH TO SOFTWARE V4.1:
    1) Disable your antivirus
    2) Disable your firewall
    3) Click update in iTunes and when it says 20 seconds remaining for the download to complete, slide the unlock bar on your iPod Touch ("slide to unlock"). (Your iPod Touch must be unlocked to update)
I searched for months and this was the only update method that worked. I hope it helps.

  • HT1386 I get an error message when I try to sync my iPod touch - "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation"

I recently installed a new hard drive on my PC, downloaded iTunes, updated the software on my iPod touch and now I get this error message when I try to sync:  "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation."  It never did this before, whether it's the upgrade in software or something in iTunes, but it's very frustrating, since I'd like to add more things to my iPod.

  • Weird error message when I try to update to 4.2

When I try to update to version 4.2 of the iPhone software, I get a message telling me "This version of iTunes (9.2.1) is the current version." That's a strange response to get considering that it's not iTunes I was trying to update!
Edited to add: I remember this happening with a previous iOS update, and eventually it stopped happening, so I thought they'd fixed it . . .
Message was edited by: D. B.

Does apple Read these? I want to upgrade to 4.2 on my 3G and cannot because I don't have itunes 10, and i'm only running 10.4.11, so Itunes 10 won't run on my pc, I'm not ready to upgrade yet to a new computer yet. I guess Apple does not care about it's older users of older equipment..not to allow us to fix our phones with the lastest updates????

  • Error Message When I try to update... HELP PLEASE!

Whenever I try to update my ipod, I get this kind of error message:
The IPod "My Ipod" cannot be updated. The required file cannot be found.
What is causing this problem and what can I od to fix this?
I have already tried re-installing the newest versions of ITunes and Ipod software and I restarted my computer numerous times. Please help!
    THANK YOU!
    30G IPod video   Windows XP

OK first we will see if the issue is on the PC side and not the iPod. Uninstall iTunes,Quicktime, and the updater from control panel>add/remove. Uninstalling iTunes will not delete any playlist, songs, ect ect.
Then run chkdsk in windows to correct any lost or damaged system files. To do this goto "My Computer" rightclick the harddrive (Usually C Drive) Select properties>Tools tab and under "Error checking" hit check now. In the following window that appears, put a check beside "Auto fix file system errors" hit OK then hit yes in the next window. Reboot and after the check is done it will boot back into windows
Now disable any antivirus/security/norton/mcafee products then download/install the latest iTUnes here http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and iPOd updater here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
If this does not work check the system for malware (General term for adware and spyware) with Ewido, this program tends to catch alot of malware that messes with iTUne and iPod software http://www.ewido.net/en/download/
