Error Message when iTunes starts

I have had iTunes and an iPod Mini that have worked fine since February 2005 until now. When i tried to open iTunes, the message said:
Quicktime Unavailable
Quicktime failed to initialize. Error #-2093. Please make sure Quicktime is properly installed on this computer."
Quicktime was installed when i had this message, but to make sure, I uninstalled Quicktime and reinstalled it. During the installation, the same error keeps coming up saying that Quicktime could not initialize. I have tried the iTunes and Quicktime combination download, the standalone Quicktime, and even the version included on the iPod cd, yet none of them will 'properly' install Quicktime. Trying to open Quicktime alone results in the same error message, except with error code #63443. Please help.

hello ack,
I read your post. An Error 2093 will occur when some sort of the Quicktime file is either missing, corrupt, moved or just unusable. First of all, have you ran your antivirus, malware programs lately to scan the computer? Try uninstalling Quicktime and reinstalling it. You may want to download the latest version of windows installer, restart windows in safe mode and run scandisk. Also, you may want to use Microsoft installer cleanup utility to uninstall quicktime.
But, I would scan your PC for malware before I did anything else. If you dont have a program, try EWIDO, which is free, or Trend Micro's Housecall, which is also free.

  • An error message when iTunes starts up.

Lately when my iTunes start I get the following error
    message.
    iTunes Setup Assistant
    Warning!
The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and
burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of
installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes.
I tried to reinstall, but I still get the same error message. It doesn't matter much, I'm not using the iTunes
to burn CDs, just trying to get the message to stop
popping up everytime, keeps the iTunes from starting
automatically when I connect the iPod. Thanks.
    me.

What other burning software do you use on your PC? There is a reason why this happens. When an application (such as Roxio, Nero, iTunes, etc.) is installing a driver file (as a .SYS) or replacing a working driver file that is referenced within your registry. For some people, the replaced driver is still referenced by either an UpperFilterCheck or a LowerFilterCheck, and the device manager is actually seeking out that file that, well... no longer exists. Or, when you try and uninstall the application (iTunes is the frequent transgressor) everything is removed, including the related driver files, but the registry isn't altered... so the device manager continues to try and locate that driver file... which no longer exists...
First, I would tell you to go to your computer manufacturer's website and download all new driver's for your optical drives. Run CD Diagnostics in iTunes and post them here if you still have problems. Here is an Apple Article that discusses this issue:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302976
There are other work arounds as well if you want to know that. Post back if you still have problems.

  • Getting error message when Firefox starts

I am getting the following message when I start Firefox ever since I upgraded to the newest version (4.0.1). This is what it says:
what happened: TypeError: Components.classes[@mozilla.org/extensions/manager;1’] is undefined
Firefox doesn’t load until I click the OK button in the message. What is causing this?

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.
    * https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
    * Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
    * Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
    * [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]]
In Firefox 4 you can use one of these to start in <u>[[Safe mode]]</u>:
    * Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    * Hold down the Shift key while double clicking the Firefox desktop shortcut (Windows)

  • Error message when i start iTunes 7...HELP PLEASE!!

whenever i start up itunes 7, i get an error message, and the details read:
This error report includes: information regarding the condition of iTunes when the problem occurred; the operating system version and computer hardware in use; your Digital Product ID, which could be used to indentify your license; and the Internet Protocol (IP) address of your computer.
PLEASE HELP! I JUST GOT MY iPOD TODAY AND I FEEL LIKE I'VE JUST WASTED $250!!!
      Windows XP

OK first we will see if the issue is on the PC side and not the iPod. Uninstall iTunes,Quicktime, and the updater from control panel>add/remove. Uninstalling iTunes will not delete any playlist, songs, ect ect.
Then run chkdsk in windows to correct any lost or damaged system files. To do this goto "My Computer" rightclick the harddrive (Usually C Drive) Select properties>Tools tab and under "Error checking" hit check now. In the following window that appears, put a check beside "Auto fix file system errors" hit OK then hit yes in the next window. Reboot and after the check is done it will boot back into windows
Now disable any antivirus/security/norton/mcafee products then download/install the latest iTUnes here http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and iPOd updater here http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
If this does not work check the system for malware (General term for adware and spyware) with Ewido, this program tends to catch alot of malware that messes with iTUne and iPod software http://www.ewido.net/en/download/

  • Error message when iTunes tries to start.

Whenever I try to start iTunes I get a send error report message. iTunes was working fine until I had to do a system restore, and then this problem started cropping up. I've tried reinstalling several times, and it doesn't seem to work.

Itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close
the first thing that i check for when people report getting that message when they try to launch their itunes is a broken QuickTime.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Windows keeps giving me "itunes has stopped working" error message when I start itunes?  How can i fix this?

After downloading the newest version, 10.6.1, whenever I open itunes I almost immediately get a "itunes has stopped working" error messsage, in which the only option is to hit the "close the program" button.  Simply closing the error message closes the program as well.  I am operated under windows XP with the latest updates (or so the updater tells me).  It seems like its getting stuck trying to send me a new user agreement because dont you have to agree to one for every new update?  It just can't seem to get past that point.  I tried opening it up in safe mode but that didnt work either.  Any help would be greatly appeciated.

Looks like itunes was still trying to communicate with my iphone and got confused when it couldnt find it.    Found this in another post and it worked great.
    Solution:
Make sure you are not connected to the internet and then open itunes. Sync your phone and then enable the internet again. Then stay connected to the internet and close your itunes and reopen it. Bam problem solved.

Could someone please assist me with the following error messages?

Obviously oc4j is installing, but these error messages are certainly a problem (for example, I can't successfully deploy applications).
When I used the previous version of oc4j none of these errors surfaced. I also have tried installing this new version in a new, clean directory, and still get the same error messages.
    Please help,
    John

Thank you for your quick response.
I hope that you are right, that these errors don't cause any other problems down the line, but I still have a problem trying to deploy applications.
For example, I tried to deploy mapviewer, using the following syntax --
    java -jar admin_client.jar deployer:oc4j:localhost fmwadmin <admin_pwd>
    -deploy
    -file <path-to-ear-file>
    -deploymentName <name>
    -bindAllWebApps
-- and recieved the following errors, which I didn't get before when I was using the previous version of oc4j (Oracle Containers for J2EE 10g [10.1.3.1]):

If you have more than one user account, you must be logged in as an administrator to carry out these instructions.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Select the most recent panic log under the heading System Diagnostic Reports on the left. If you don't see that heading, select
View ▹ Show Log List   from the menu bar. Post the entire contents of the panic report — the text, please, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header and body of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) Please don't post shutdownStall, spin, or hang reports.
