Error message when setting up .Mac email account on iPhone

Hi - I've tried Apple support, iphone support, and the submit a question/problem to the mac people with no luck. So, I'm taking my question to the next higher level -- you all.
So here is the issue. I have had a mac email account for years. I buy my cool new iPhone a few weeks ago, and add my main apple mac email account to the iphone. All is good, and I can send/receive email messages from my main account. Then I add = three other email accounts I have on mac for internet/web surfing, and all is good there too. So, now I can access my 4 apple mac accounts on my iphone.
Here is the problem -- a few days ago, my main apple mac account stopped working on my iphone. I can still send/receive email messages via web based mac mail, and I can access all my mail on my laptopn (just like usual). But, now, when I go to check my main mac account on my iphone it says unable to verify username or password.
So, I have tried 100 different times now, all to no avail. I deleted it, rebooted it, tried it as a mac account, an IMAP account, POP account, etc.
I have all the latest versions of itunes, iphone, etc.
So, can anyone help me (pleeeese)......
Thanks, Drew

  • Error message when setting up POP3 email account

I have my phone setup with my Gmail account and my work accout. Both were working fine, but after a few weeks I could no longer send email from my work account. I would get the "Connection to the outgoing SMTP server failed" error message.
I tried to delete the account and program it back in exactly as I had it before, and now when I try to save those settings, I get this message:
"Secure connection failed - the certificate for "[email protected]" may be invalid."
Our IT guys says all the info I'm plugging in is correct. Can anyone help??
    Thanks.

    closereach,
It sounds like your SMTP server may be using a self-signed certificate for the SSL connection.
A self-signed SSL certificate doesn't have the same authority as one that has been verified by one of the certificate authorities. It is kind of like the difference between using a business card and a photo ID. For many things the business card was sufficient ID, but when it comes to secured items like encrypted data, it is better to have an ID that has been verified by another authority.
You should have the option to use it, and then continue on.
If you do not have that option, its possible the certificate is not self-signed, but could be showing up as expired.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

I have set up my girlfriends gmail account on her iphone pretty easy. I am currently trying to set up my mac email account on my iphone. I am in my mac email account on preferences and I have checked the box (check mail from an external POP account). I have filled in all of the boxes, the only box that I do not get is the tab (Incoming Mail Server). Any suggestion what has to go into the box to set up my account? Any help would be great...

    Help

    Hello Jen,
Congratulations on your new MacBook Pro!  I understand how important is to have your email account setup on your new computer. I found a couple of resources that I think might help.
You can check the Mail Setup Assistant for the server settings for common email providers.  I recommend checking your email settings here first to verify they match what you have in the Mail application:
    Mail Setup Assistant
    https://www.apple.com/support/macosx/mailassistant/
If the Mail Setup Assistant does not provide settings for your email account, you can use the following article when contacting your email service provider to gather the necessary information to setup your account:
Configuring Mail for your email account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1277
If you are able to setup your account but messages are not being downloaded, I recommend reviewing the following article:
OS X Mail: Troubleshooting sending and receiving email messages
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3276
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

  • I get this error message when I try to email photos using iPhoto: Your email did not go through because the server did not reply.

I get this error message when I try to email photos using iPhoto: Your email did not go through because the server did not reply. How can I get this to work when my internet is connected?

Are you able to email from Mail with those two accounts?  If so:
1 - go to iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete both accounts. Now add them back and try again.
2 - a better solution IMO is to set Mail as the email client for iPhoto is iPhoto's General preference pane.  This gives you better access to your contacts, a sent copy of all emails and, if you want a layout similar to iPhoto's, photo layouts located in Mail's stationary.

  • When setting up my Email on the Iphone 4s, the phone just stays on Verifying. Any ideas would be welcome thanks.

When setting up my email account on the iphone 4s- it just stays on verifying.
    Any ideas whats wrong?
    Many thanks

The verifying message can take longer than usual as it needs to obviously verify.
Sometimes the program can become way-layed and stop working.
A few suggestions i have to make would be:
Click the home button twice, hold down the apps until they shake, and delete the mail and settings applications open.
Then reload the email and try and verify again.
Another suggestion would be to hard reset the phone, which would involve holding the home button and the lock button together which evidently crashes the phone.
That could refresh the data and allow you to access your email.
Similiarly you could set up another email address using the same email operator and see if that works.
If it doesnt, it might be worth trying a different email address e.g. Trying googlemail or hotmail.
Not sure how you set up your email account but try either of these methods.
Go onto settings > Email, contacts and calanders > add account > Choose your email type > enter username and password.
The other way would be to go into the mail app and set your email address and password through that.
If all else fails, try downloading a 3rd party application which can run your email account.
e.g. I have a Googlemail 3rd party application which i find is more accessibly friendly.
    Best of luck.

I have set up 4 email accounts on my ipad fine. Gmail, a work email and 2 pop emails with no problems but i cannot add my yahoo account. after i use the "ipad easy yahoo set up" i get the following message - The IMAP server "imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com" is not responding. Check you connection and that you are entering the correct information in the "incoming mail server field."
i am entering Nothing in the incoming mail server field. Apple must have the yahoo mail server pre programmed for easy set up.. all its asking me to enter is name, email addres and password. IN addition why would "apple" be in the imap server name? does this seem correct? i know there was a simliar question to this one a few days ago but there was no resoultion. Is this an Ipad programming programming problem? HELP?

If you are getting the password incorrect error, try changing the password to be alphanumeric only - no special characters. That worked for me.

  • Error message when setting up a sync from my ipad to my g4

I have just updated my iPad2 to iOS7. I use my mac G4 to usually sync my iPad, and now I get an error message in my iTunes that states "The iPad “******” cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 11.1 or later. Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes." This is a problem since I have a G4 and cannot update my Mac OS beyond 10.5 Leopard. iTunes 11.1 will not install on my architecture because I can't update to 10.6.8. Does anyone know of a workaround other than to use the iCloud??

  • TS3276 error message when trying to send email

On my Apple Iphone 3G, using Rogers as a cell provider, when an email came in and I tried to reply to it, it came up with an error message " A copy of this email has been placed in your outbox. The senders (me) address "[email protected]" was rejected by the server."
I have checked all the settings and they are exactly the same as those on my computer mail settings. I can receive mail but cannot reply to this email.

First unlock your caps lock key. Typing in all caps is inappropriate in online forums (considered shouting) and is hard to read.
iPhoto>Preferences>General. Select the email program or how you wish to email photos from iPhoto.
(There is an iPhoto forum for iPhoto questions).

  • Error message when entering the Mac Store Content Code

I am receiving an error message when redeeming entering the Mac Store Content Code, which I received as part of the OS X Mountain Lion Up-To-Date program. The error says that 'the code has already been used...'. It hasn't. I had just received.

I'm having the same problem. This is a pretty big mix-up. A lot of people seem to be having the same issue.

    Hi,
The Same Network is only needed for the Text Forwarding part of the Messages app on both and the iMessages account's Text Forwarding.
I understand Blue Tooth is On but have your paired the two devices for Handoff and Continuity ?
I cannot do this bit on my Mid 2011 iMac so I am a bit lost as to the actual settings.

  • I get an error message when i try to email photos

i would prefer to email photos using my gmail account, is this possible?
even when i try to use my .mac account and error message comes up...it says it will store the message under my "outbox". whats going on?
is there an easier way to email photos?

To use a web based email account you'll have to export the resized files to the desktop and manually load them into your email by hand.
As far as the message, it could be a number of things. What exactly is the message? You should check Mails preferences to make sure all of the parameters for the .Mac account are entered and correct.
