Error message when trying to back up

Just bought a new firewire drive, since it appeared my old one had less room on it than my HD, and partitioned it into two 150 gig partitions. When trying to use Retrospect to duplicate my HD, I get an error -116 (size check failed), and "scanning incomplete). I know this happened with the old drive when I did not realize there was a size problem. Question is why am I having this probem now? HD is a 160 gig drive, with about 120 gigs of data.

Normally, your target partition should be at least as large as the HD you're trying to backup. I don't do Retrospect, but that's usually the case with Carbon Copy Cloner and SuperDuper! BTW, if all you want to backup is data, you don't need a backup app. Drag & drop works just as well.

  • Error message when trying to back up iPhone in iTunes

I am running the latest version of iTunes (12.1.2.27) on Windows. I have a iPhone 5s running iOS 8.3. When I connect my iPhone to my PC and select "Back up Now" under "Manually Backup and Restore" in iTunes it will start the backup but then come back and show the error message "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because an error occurred". It doesn't specify what that error is. I tried rebooting my PC and restarting my iPhone and reconnecting, but I am unable to backup my iPhone and keep getting the same error message. I suspect this might be an issue with with either iTunes 12.1.2.27 or iOS 8.3 as it started to happen after I updated both of them.  Anyone have any ideas?

You can try going to iTunes with your device connected, select your device, then click view, show duplicate items

  • Error message when trying to back up from iMac to Time Machine says "sparsebundle already in use"

This is a screen shot of the error message I get.  I don't know what a "sparsebundle" is much less how to find and/or fix it! Can anyone help???

First, restart the iMac and your Time Capsule. In most of cases, this should solve the problem.
    If it doesn't work, read > http://pondini.org/TM/C12.html
This is caused by a bug in Lion and Mountain Lion. This could also mean that you have another Mac and you are using the backup file of your iMac with that computer

Why do Iget an error message when trying to sign in my icloud?  Can you also tell me how to combinned my icloud accounts?

If they were in your camera roll and on your phone when you last backed up, they would be included in your iCloud backup.  If you restored the entire backup you should recover them.

  • Error Messages when trying to install, uninstall or run iTunes 9

I get the following error message when trying to Install iTunes:
The path C:\DOCUME~1\Frank\LOCALS~1\Temp\IXP206.TMP\iTunes.msi cannot be found. Verify that you have access to this location and try again, or try to find the installation package 'iTunes.msi' in a folder from which you can install the product iTunes.
I search my entire computer for the file but it's not there.
Then, when I try to uninstall the iTunes and start the install from scratch I get another error:
"The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable"
Catch-22, I can't install or uninstall and when I try to run iTunes I get:
"The action is only valid for products that are installed"
Very frustrating but I'm stumped and I don't know how to proceed. Any help would be very much appreciated.

wooooooooo!!! got it working again!! having spent the last 6 hours..no joke six f*cking hours trying to sort it ive finally got iTunes back!!
ok here is what you need to do:
go to the link below and download the Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Facility.
    http://www.locksleynet.com/2009/06/09/missing-itunesmsi-problem-resolved/
once you have downloaded it, install it and run it from the start menu. once its up and running remove everything to do with iTunes (so iTunes itself, quicktime, bonjour......the lot). Dont worry about removing iTunes completely, all the music is still there when it works again trust me!!
ok once you have removed everything restart your computer, im not sure if this is a must but i did it.
next download quicktime from the apple website (go to the 'downloads' tab near the top. download and install quicktime and restart your computer so the new settings are put in to place ( i think it asks you to restart anyway).
go back to the apple website, 'downloads' tab and download iTunes itself. install that bad boy and you will be up and running with all your library intact!
Hope it works for you mate!

  • Error message when trying to use config editor

I received the following error message when trying to deploy the changes to the device:
CEDT0031: no command is available to download for the device X.X.X.X. REmove the device from the job and try again.

You can't do that.  Instead, just remove "aaa new-model" from the config then try to deploy it.  Alternatively, you can try "merge mode," but that will send the whole config back to the device.

  • When I start my computer I get a "AppleSyncNotifier.exe Entry Point Not Found message.  I also get an error message when trying to sync with iTunes that a backup session cannot be started.  How do I fix this?

In the last few days when I start my computer, I get a box that opens with "AppleSyncNotifier.exe" Entry Point Not Found in the title.
It says:  "The procedure entry point sqlite3_wal_checkpoint could not be located in the dynamic link library SQlite3.dll.
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes and still get an error message when trying to sync my phone with iTunes
"iTunes could not back up iPhone ####, because a session could not be started with the iPhone."
The last time I tried to sync my phone (iPhone 3G S) with iTunes, everything seemed to freeze up at Stage 4 of the sync process.
    Any advice????

With Windows Explorer, navigate to your C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support folder.
Copy the SQLite3.dll that you should find there, navigate to the nearby Mobile Device Support folder, and Paste it in there also.
Reboot and see if all is well
In case that your OS is Windows 7 (64 bit)
    1. Open windows explorer, go to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
    2. Copy file "SQLite3.dll"
    3. Open new windows explorer, to to location C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support
    4. Paste file "SQLite3.dll" to the location.
    5. Reboot your computer, it should not display that message, it should be clear.
    Good Luck

  • I keep getting an error message when trying to download i tunes. It says it's looking for MSVCR80.dll and I find it on my computer so I don't know what else to do. Any suggestions?

I keep getting an error message when trying to download itunes. It says it can't find "msvcr80.dll, but when I search for it on my computer it is there. My itunes was working just fine before I got the message to download the latest upgrade. I've not had any problems doing that before now, so don't really know what to do.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.

  • Macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was cancelled

macbook pro - iPhoto keep prompting to update after Yosemite update. Error message when trying to update -This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.

I only have 1 apple ID and the same was used to set up this early 2011 macbook pro and iPhoto app. I don't want to loose out on any photos. I tried logging out of app store and back in but no luck. PLEEAASEE HELPP!!!
This problem has been reported by quite a few forum members, who skipped the update to iPhoto 9.5.1 while running Mavericks. In that case try to purchase iPhoto again instead of updating.
After making your backup try the following:
Uninstall iPhoto by deleting it from the applications folder, but do not empty the Trash.
Launch the App Store, click the "Store" menu, and sign in with your AppleID.
Open the main page of the App Store and search for iPhoto.
If iPhoto is listed as "Free", click the "Free" button to buy it with your current AppleID.
If it is not showing as free, there is no help but contacting the App Store Support, as Niel pointed out: http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/contact/
