Error message when updating to iTunes 8.0

I have been using and upgrading iTunes on my laptop for a long time now, and have never experienced this problem before.
When updating, it begins installing, then gives me an error message saying: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailabe", and asks me to browse my computer and find the location of iTunes.msi.
How do I fix this problem? Will I have to completely re-install my iTunes? I really don't want to have to re-do my entire library.

When you get this message, doing an installer file cleanup often fixes it.
Here is am method for removal, cleanup and reinstall of iTunes:
== uninstall with cleanup ==
Download a fresh copy of iTunes and the stand alone version of Quicktime (the one without iTunes)
http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install Microsoft Installer cleanup utility, there are instructions on the page as well as the download. Note that what you download is the installer not the program – you have to run it to install the program.
To run the program – All Programs>>Windows Install Cleanup
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/
Now use the following method to remove iTunes and its components:
XP
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Vista
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923
*If you hit a problem with one of the uninstalls don't worry*, carry on with the deleting of files and folders as directed in the method.
When you get to deleting Quicktime files in the system32 folder as advised in the method, you can delete any file or folder with Quicktime in the name.
Restart your PC.
Run the Microsoft Installer Cleanup Utility. (Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up)
Remove any references you find to the programs you removed - strictly speaking you only need to worry about those programs where the uninstall failed.
If you don’t see an entry for one of the programs that did not uninstall, look out for blank entries or numeric entries that look like version numbers e.g. 7.x for Quicktime or 1.x for Bonjour.
restart your PC
Install the stand alone Quicktime and check that it works.
If it does, install iTunes

  • Error message when updating Itunes...can not open Itunes program

I am recieving error message when updating Itunes for my computer.  The error message reads "MSVCR80.dll is missing and the other error message reads Error 7  (Windows error 126)"  I can not open my Itunes.  I have reloaded the Itunes onto my computer but still have the same error messages.  Please help.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

Not the iPad - your computer must be running iTunes 10.7 in order to sync. It has nothing to do with iTunes on the iPad.

I am getting an un expected error message when updating the setting to "extend network".  Is there an obvious setting I may be missing?  Cisco router being used.

If you are trying to "extend" using wireless only, you may not be aware that Apple designed the "extend" feature as a proprietary setting to only work with other Apple routers.
It is extremely unlikely that this will work with a Cisco router.
If your plans call for connecting the AirPort Express to the Cisco router using a wired Ethernet connection, it should be possible to configure the Express that way.

    Anybody have any insight?

    Bregol wrote:
Sounds to me like openssl is installed on your system but the info on it is now missing from the local pacman database (/var/lib/pacman/local).  In other words, pacman forgot that you installed it.  So in your second clip of code, pacman is complaining that files belonging to openssl exist in your filesystem, since you do have it installed but it no longer knows that.
Don't know if this is the proper way to fix it, but I imagine forcing a reinstall of openssl (pacman -Sf openssl) should get pacman to reinstall openssl so that it knows it is installed.
    Bregol,
    pacman -Sf openssl
seemed to have fixed it.  Did not know of the force reinstall option.  The necessary directories in /var/lib/pacman/local/openssl have been created.
    Thanks,

  • I Keep getting error messages when updating itunes

The installer has encountered an unexpected error installing this package. This may indicate a problem with package. The error code is 2349.
That the error i get when updateing the itunes iv downloaded it like 5 diff times and still the same message what else can i do about it?
can anyone help me please and thank you for your time

Although it's a better bet with a 2330 error, I'd try running a chkdsk over your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you've got your program files installed on).
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Keep getting an error message when updating 10.6.8

keep getting an error message when doing a software update for 10.6.8

I've tried both ways but it does the same thing.  I have iTunes v 10.3.1.
I get an error message before I try to install iTunes:
iTunes can’t verify the identity of the server “ax.itunes.apple.com”. The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be “ax.itunes.apple.com”, which could put your confidential information at risk. Would you like to connect to the server anyway?

  • HT4623 keep getting a generic error message when updating

I keep getting a generic error message when trying to update my iphone3gs.  I have done it while connected to the computer and through wifi.  When I am connected to the computer it stated, check your connectivity as the update timed out (I did a check and everything worked fine) when I tried through wifi, it just said it failed to update.  Um, no help there.

I received this email from Apple and this corrected the problem for me...  I only had to reset the iTunes cache
    1) Open iTunes
    2) At the top menu, click File > Preferences (iTunes > Preferences on a Mac)
    3) In the Preferences menu, click the Advanced tab
    4) In the Advanced menu, you should see a button that says "Reset Cache". Please click this button.

Try signing out of your account, restart the iPad and then sign in again and see if that works for you.
Settings>Store>Apple ID - tap your ID and sign out.
Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
Sign in again -Settings>Store>Apple ID - sign in.
If that doesn't work either, reset your iPad and see if that helps.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
