Error message while burning cds and dvds
imac on Mountain lion will burn cd and dvd but most of the time says there was an error and spits out cd. When check on a different mac the cds are fine, what do I need to do to correct the error message issue?
This can be caused by poor quality media ( = poor quality coating).
Not recommended: Memorex, Sony, cheap supermarket offerings
Recomended: Verbatim, Fuji, Maxell, Taiyo Yuden.
Also, use a slow burn speed like 2x or 4x.

"Error"-message while burning to a DVD+R DL-disc?
Hi,
I'm trying to burn a project to a DVD+R DL-disc (Verbatim). The Project is 5,82 GB (183 min). I have put the project to "PAL", "High Quality", "Widescreen (16:9)" and "Double Layer" respectively in the Project information.
I start to burn, the coding of the menus goes well, but as soon as it's about to start coding the movies, I get an errormessage saying, "An error arise during the moviecoding".
I have tried like 5-6 times, but it always gives me the same message.
Anyone have a guess what's wrong?
(Plus, after a get the errormessage and goes to the Projectinformation, it says that my project is 7,64 GB, but still 183 min....)
Thankful for any tips...

I think (but I'm not sure) that iDVD does not do a very good job of estimating the size of the project until it starts to render/encode. So your project might be too big even for a dual-layer DVD. Can you reduce the size/length of the movie at all. And/or reduce the size of any iDVD slideshows you might also have in the iDVD project.
One small trick (I think this is true, but again I'm not 100% sure) is to reduce the size of the audio. If you use songs from iTunes, what format are they? I keep my songs in Apple Lossless which makes the files large. When I compress them to say AAC 128 or 160 in iTunes, and then use those smaller file versions in my iMovie project or slideshows, it reduces the size of the iDVD project. -
When starting iTunes I continually get an error message " The registry Settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes." I have unistalled and reinstalled iTunes several times and have cleaned up the registry using a 3rd party Windows utility. Any tips on removing this error message for good?
I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

Every time I plug my Ipod Nano or Ipad 2 into my computer I get the same error message. It says that registery settings are missing for importing burning cds and dvds due ot other burning software and to untinstall itunes and reinstall Itunes. I've done this several times and I'm not having any trouble importing cds at all and I can't make the message go away. It always comes up before Itunes will open.

Each time I launch iTunes (latest version) on Windows 7 (w/ latest system updates) I receive the following error msg:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
When I click on "OK" iTunes completes the launch process and the application functions properly. This error msg appears without fail every time I launch the app.
I have reinstalled iTunes four times and continue to receive this message. iTunes is set in the system Control Panel as the default program for all functions that iTunes uses. I never burn CDs or DVDs and have never attempted to do so on this machine. I have had iTunes on this computer since I bought it last November and never had a problem with it until 2 months ago when this message began popping up. I did not notice any action I took that caused this, in terms of creating conflicts.
I hope someone can assist me in finding a way to stop this annoying error! Thanks!

What can I do to correct this error: The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes. I have reinstalled several times but it hasn't changed this error message. Why am I able to burn a CD using Media Player but not iTunes? I am using Windows XP and I have burned cds from iTunes in the past.
1: Follow this support doc to completly remove iTunes (your files remain)
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1925
2: Download, install and run the Registry cleaner portion of the free Ccleaner

3: Reinstall iTunes -
I got an error message while burning a CD in iTunes - "the attempt to burn a disc failed. The burn failed because of a medium write error." What does this mean and how do I fix it?
The disk you are using probably has a defect, not uncommon on consumer grade disks. Try another disk or better yet another disk from a different manufacturer or at least a different batch.

When I attempt to log on to I tunes I get the following message:
"The registry settings used by the I Tunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing.
This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please re-install I Tunes."
To my knowledge no new software has been installed. I have tried un-installing and re-installing I Tunes but I still
get the same message.
Can anyone offer any suggestions? Do I need to download a new driver?
Bill MartinI can get down as far as step 11 but it shows nothing about upper filters and when I type on "If the Upper Filters entry is missing follow these instructions" nothing happens
Do you mean you can't see the instructions on what to do if there is no UpperFilters entry?
If so, here's the relevant instructions for that step:
On the right side of the Registry Editor window, right-click the UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu.
Right-click the empty white space within the right-hand portion of the Registry Editor window. From the shortcut menu, choose New > Multi-String Value.
Name this new value "UpperFilters" (without the quotes). Then, right-click the newly created UpperFilters entry and choose Modify from the shortcut menu. -
When I click on itunes, I get a message that says, "the registry settings used by the itune drivers for importing and burning cds and dvds are missing. this can result from installing other cd burning software. Reinstall itunes." I am a really inexperienced computer user. My computer is a windows 7. Would someone please walk me through this or tell me where to find information on how to do this. Thanking in advance, Laurie
Check out this Apple article -> iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes
The article will walk you through reinstalling iTunes and then checking for or creating device filters. Did it help? Did you run into any problems? -
