Error message "You do not have enough access privleges for this operation"

I am using Windows Vista, and current IPOD and ITUNES versions. I still get this message when trying to sync IPOD. Help please.

So it appears iCloud/iTunes Match isn't the issue - the error message would seem to be complaining about where the music is being downloaded to. So with this in mind:
In iTunes select Preferences and select Advanced. The iTunes media folder should be set to /Users/<your account>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Music. <your account> would be whatever your user account is. If you see something else there I'd guessing it is a folder you don't have permission to write to.

  • Sync Error "You do not have enough access privleges for this operation"

    After up dating to iTunes 7.4.1.2, I get the following error message when syncing my iPhone;
"The iPhone (Phone Name) cannot be synced. You do not have enough access privleges for this operation."
I tried re-authorizing the computer as other users suggested but the error message persists. Restarting, rebooting have not helped.
    Any ideas?

    To fix Home folder permissions
Open the Terminal application in the Utilities folder.  At the command line prompt enter or paste the following command line:
    sudo chown -R `id -un`:`id -gn` ~
Press RETURN.  You will be prompted to enter your admin password which will not be echoed.

Hi! I just realized I have two folders called library, one is inside HD alongside with System and users, then I have also "library" inside users, some of the folders are apparently repeated, some are missing. And all the music is inside a folder called iTunes Music, inside Music, inside users. Now that I relaized some folders are repeated I applied to all related to iTumes r/w permission. But the annoying message keeps coming on.
And yes, I am using Leopard, 10.5.8.
    Any ideas?

I have a similar issue. I can update the music library but iTunes is trying ot automatically update the software on the iPod to v1.2 but I get an error message saying that I do not have the access privileges on this account. I have changed this account to be an Administrator, restarted but still that doesn't resolve my issue. Is it really necessary to have set up a separate profile for this different iPod? (I use two iPods on the same computer, my wife's and mine and set up different profiles with a shared music library). I would like to update the software on this particular iPod but it won't let me.

    Hey there Opal4,
It sounds like you are unable to use iTunes due to this error message about not having enough access privileges. According to the following article you may need to change the permissions on the file directly:
These messages occur if permissions are incorrect on your designated music folder or on a folder inside your designated music folder. Permissions are settings that determine who can read, write to, or execute a file or folder on your computer. Every file and folder on your hard disk has an associated set of permissions.
Example: If permissions are correct on your Music folder, but incorrect on the U2 folder inside your Music folder, you would be able to add other music to your iTunes library, but not that new U2 album.

I'm trying to restore my music library on my windows laptop from discs, but while importing, I keep getting this message ""You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" and a failed import.  I have tried just about everything I can think of to fix, including most of what I've seen on forums dealing with permissions and the like.  Thoughts?

  • HELP! trying to transfer purchases from my iPad but keep getting: "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation" message

I recently had a hard drive crash and lost almost everything except for what I managed to save on Carbonite. When I got the new hard drive, I updated to Lion and began the laborious process of restoring my files. I think it is up to 40% done.
Anyway, I went to try to transfer my purchases from my iPad2 (4.3.3) and received the message:  "You do not have enough access privileges for this operation" followed by: "Attempting to copy to Hard drive failed. You do not have enough access priviledges for this operation."
So, I did a search on the problem and have found similar complaints and some reasonable suggestions, which I attempted without success. So far I have:
    1) Rebooted
    2) Changed all the Permissions on the iPhoto Library and iTunes folders to Read & Write.
    3) Used Disk Utility to Verify & Repair permissions.
    Nothing is working.
    HELP!

Had the same thing happen to me a few weeks back when I switched computers and migrated.  Here's what worked on my iMac, so maybe it'll work on your iPad, too.  Go to User(your home folder)/Music.  Select/highlight your "Music" folder.  Then do Command-I ("Get Info" from the File menu), click on the padlock icon in the lower right of the new window.  Enter your user password.  Click on your username just above the now-open padlock.  Select "Read & Write" if it's on "Read Only," "Write Only," or "No Access."  Now having your user account with "Read & Write" privileges (it may have been this way already; still do this next step), click on the gear on the bottom-center of that window.  Click on "Apply to all enclosed items."  When the pop-up says "Are you sure?" (or the equivalent), say "yes."  This will grant access privileges to your user account for all the music files inside your music folder--all your iTunes stuff included).  Then you should be good to go.

  • You do not have enough access priviledges for this operation

When I try to purchase music from itunes i get the following message, "You do not have enough access priviledges for this operation and I'm not able to download song enough though itunes deducted money from my redemption."

I don't know how much this will help you, I'm no tech,   I went into my USER ACCOUNT and it said I had multiple Apple Ids so I deleted one on both my and my wifes desktop.   Also, in Mac HD I highlighted library and users individually and "got Info" and made sure that all was turned to  read and write and I also did that on the Mac HD icon.   Then I took my music off my phone and re synced
My Mac was updated to Lion and I installed iCloud and was syncing my IPHONE 4S.   We had no problem syncing my wife's iPad2 with the mac at all.
After I resynced  with no warnings I used my utility to fix all my permissions.

  • HT1386 I get an error message when I try to sync my iPod touch - "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation"

I recently installed a new hard drive on my PC, downloaded iTunes, updated the software on my iPod touch and now I get this error message when I try to sync:  "you do not have enough access privileges for this operation."  It never did this before, whether it's the upgrade in software or something in iTunes, but it's very frustrating, since I'd like to add more things to my iPod.
