Error messages language

Hi. I'm a total newbie to the Oracle world. I am using SQL *Plus Worksheet on a computer in Holland and all of my error messages are displaying in Dutch. Since I don't understand Dutch I am trying to find a way to make the messages display in English just for my sessions.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
Barbara

Try these commands in the worksheet:
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_LANGUAGE = 'American';
ALTER SESSION SET NLS_TERRITORY = 'America';

  • Oracle error message language

How to change the language of the eroor message. I've installed oracle in english, but my regional settings were german. I'd like to switch back to english.
    Thanks

    Maria,
The NLS_LANG variable is made up of three components: LANGUAGE_TERRITORY.CHARACTERSET.
Therefore dependent on the character set that you specified for your database, you should set NLS_LANG as specified above.
e.g. If your database character set is 'WE8ISO8859P1' then set NLS_LANG as follows:
    'AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1'

  • How do I change the language of ADF framework error messages?

I'm a beginner in ADF and JDeveloper and I tried to run one of the tutorials for ADF (Build a Web Application with JDeveloper 11g Using EJB, JPA, and JavaServer Faces).
While clicking through the application I got errors like this one:
ADF_FACES-60097:Pentru mai multe informaţii, consultaţi jurnalul de erori al serverului, pt. o intrare care începe cu: ADF_FACES-60096:Excepţie server în cursul PPR, nr. 1
My question is how do I set the JDeveloper/WebLogic to show these messages in English (in order to have better chances while searching this forum :) )?
I'm not talking about messages that I define in my application, but about framework error messages.
I already set USER_LANGUAGE=en in <JDEV_HOME>\.product.properties, but no luck.
Note that WebLogic server messages are in English (e.g. <Warning> <J2EE> <BEA-160195> <The application version lifecycle event listener oracle.security.jps.wls.listeners.JpsAppVersionLifecycleListener is ignored because the application HR_EJB_JPA_App is not versioned.>), only ADF messages are presented in Romanian.
    Thanks,
    Bogdan

I suspect that these messages are considered "system" ones (e.g. not for the user), so they are not generated in the user's locale but in the JVM's default locale. On Windows machines default JVM locale is taken from Windows Regional Settings. If you do not want to change your Regional Settings, you can try Java system properties "user.language" and "user.country". Try to add the following line to WebLogic domain's <tt>setDomainEnv.cmd</tt> script:
set JAVA_OPTIONS=%JAVA_OPTIONS% -Duser.language=en -Duser.country=USA restrart of the server is required.
In Bulgaria we do not have such problems because ADF Faces messages do not have Bulgarian translation, so they are generated in English regardless of the fact that our Regional Settings are set to Bulgarian.

I did a system restore, trying to get rid of the new update (which I HATE), and now when I try to open iTunes, I get an error message telling me that "This version of iTunes has not been correctly localized for this language.  Please run the English version."  You can't change the language option unless you can open iTunes - and IT WON'T OPEN!!!  What a piece of crap!  If there existed an iTunes substitute, I would purchase it in a hot minute!

Strip it out and start again.
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you really want to roll back to 11.4 uninstall all iTunes/Apple components as described in the second box, restore the pre-upgrade version of the library as described in Empty/corrupt iTunes library after upgrade/crash, then download and install from one of these direct links:
    iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (32-bit) - iTunesSetup.exe (2014-09-09)
    iTunes 11.4.0.18 for Windows (64-bit) - iTunes64Setup.exe (2014-09-09)

Let's try a repair install of iTunes.
    Restart the PC first.
If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair".
If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", and click "Change". Select "Repair" and click "Next" as per the following screenshot:

  • "The language of this installation package is not supported by your system" Error Message when installing Office 2010

Hello, I am having a very hard time attempting to install Office 2010 Pro Plus on a system.  The error message that I receive is as follows:
The language of this installation package is not supported by your system.
I have tried running the Microsoft FixIt tool to remove any traces of Office 2007 and Office 2010.  Also, I have followed the instructions in
KB928218 to manually uninstall any traces of Office 2007.
I believe the user had both Office 2007 and Office 2010 installed previously.  There is no article to remove all traces of Office 2010.
Here is some additional output from the Setup log:
    Parsing setup.xml file: F:\Access.en-us\setup.xml
Error: Installation of this product requires operating system supplemental language support. Type: 54::NoSupportedCulture.

I have tried both running setup from a disc and a network share.  I am completely stumped and have been trying to get this to load for hours now.  Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Hello Shawn,
Messages are always displayed in the logon language so what's the big deal in it?
May be the translation is not maintained for this message in the logon language, hence the issue.
You maintain the translation from SE91.
Get the message details from the RETURN table --> Trxn SE91 --> Select the Message to translate --> From the menu bar : Goto --> Translation

  • Error message : Vendor Communication language is for item 0000000002

    Hi,
We are on EBP 4.0, SP11. Classic scenario.
When the requirement is in sourcing without a source assigned/prederred vendor and the buyer adds a source (in work area) and tries to transfer the requirement back to the worklist by holding the changes there is an error message "Vendor Communication language is for item 0000000001".
This is preventing the buyer from adding a source and holding the change. There seems to be nothing wrong with the vendor. Dont know why this message is flashed.
Can someone suggest what can be done.
If there is a way to change this error message to a warning, will it help? ow can this be done?
    Regards,

    Hi
Check if Communication details are maintained for vendor in Manage Business Partners in SRM browser application.
