Error messages when copyind cds

everytime i copy a cd it stops after the fisrt song as comes up saying unknown error??
Anyone know how 2fix this??

welcome to macbook forum.
I believe that is more into hardware problem with your laser pointer in the optical drive.
Just bring that to apple store, they might recalibrate / adjust the laser or replace the optical drive with new unit.

When I burn cds in media player, i get error on about half of the songs in the playlist. I delete the errored songs, re-import them and then try to burn. same problem. then the cd tray locks up and i ether use the paper clip trick to open the tray or restart the computer. If, as it sounds, your problem is with Windows Media Player, then your best bet is to post over at Microsoft's Windows Media NewsGroup .

I am running Mac OSX 10.4.11. According to the System profiler the CD/DVD drive is a "PioneerDVD-RWDVR-112D." When I compare the information under this heading, the only unusual difference from my iMac is that the G5 reads "Burn Support: Yes (Unsupported)." My iMac reads "Burn Support: Yes (Apple Shipping Drive)."
Under the System Preferences the options are set to "Ask what to do" when a blank CD or DVD is inserted. Music CD set to open iTunes, Picture CD set to open iPhoto, Video DVD set to open DVD player.
Do you have any suggestions?

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

I've just started getting an error message when importing audio CD's into itunes. +"Error occured while converting the file "........". The disk could not be read from or written to."+ I've been importing CDs for years now and this just started happening last night. The disk image shows up on the desktop, itunes opens and recognizes the disk and searches the database and finds the artist/track names/album etc. Then when I click the import button, I get this message. If I click on the disk image in the desktop and click on a specific file it will play through iTunes. No new changes except for maybe downloading the latest iTunes update. Any suggestions? Iron-Mike, MP3 and AAC were both invented well after CD audio and both algorithms are well aware of CD format. Make sure you have "Soundcheck" settings turned on both for iTunes playback and for CD burning. iTunes Soundcheck is supposed to normalize the volumes in spite of variations in the files. Open Registry Editor:
XP: From the Start menu click Run. In the resulting dialog, type "regedit" (without quotes) and click OK.
Vista: From the Start menu, in the Start Search dialog, type "regedit" (without quotes) and press Enter.
Windows 7: From the Start menu, in the "Search programs and files" dialog, type "regedit"(without quotes) and press Enter.
If Windows needs your permission to continue, click Continue.
Click the plus sign (XP) or arrow (Vista and Windows 7) next to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE to expand its contents.
Expand the contents of SYSTEM.
Expand the contents of CurrentControlSet.

Error Message When Importing Bookmarks From A Network Share

An error message is generated whenever I try to import bookmarks.html from a network share on kubuntu. This same operation is sucessful on the windows version of firefox.
To replicate:
The bookmarks.html is created by Firefox 3.68 on windows 7. And is saved to a network share location. When trying to import this file into firefox 3.6.8 on my kubuntu 10.04 machine, I get the error message/window titled: remote files not accepted. The message states: You can only select local files.
If I copy bookmarks.html local to the kubuntu machine, it imports without error.
On windows, I can import bookmarks.html from the network share without error.
Does anyone know why I can't import across the network on the kubuntu version?

It appears to be any remote file, not just the bookmarks file. When trying to upload a file to a website, firefox threw up the same error:
error message/window titled: remote files not accepted. The message states: You can only select local files.
So what is it about files that are sitting on a server, firefox and kubuntu that causes this? I don't get the error message when using win7 on the same files.

Error message when launching PowerPivot Window using Excel 2010

I have installed the latest version of Powerpivot on several of our workstations. Some of them are running the application just fine and some of them are getting an intermittent error message when trying to launch the PowerPivot Window.
We are running Windows 7 ENT 32bit with Office 2010 32bit
The error message given is : An operation that uses the database driver could not be completed. If the driver is a Microsoft driver, make sure the drvier file isn't damaged, and if it is, reinstall the driver by re-installing Microsoft Query.
You can then try again and it will work.
In fact the majority of the time this error message won't appear.
The application has been removed and reinstalled.

It's just a guess: Power Pivot uses the MSOLAP = "Microsoft OleDB Provider for OLAP" and maybe that Provider is damaged on the machine. You may try to reinstall the Provider, you can get the installer named "SQL_AS_OLEDB.msi" from

Error message when starting MaxDB instance

I am getting the following Error message when starting the MaxDB instance after a series of failed attempts at starting the DB Manager Backup for our PI 7.1 server.
"-24994,ERR_RTE: Runtime environment error
1,Cannot create ipc db directories for SID (OS error code 11000)"
Max DB version : 7.7.02
Does anyone have any specific pointers on where the issue could be.

I'm a complete newbye searching the forums in order to decrypt what is inconsistent to me (I'm acting as a substitute for a real dba): a sapdb refusing any more connection due to an 'user space exhausted' issue.
I do not even know if/where some admin tool is/isn't installed - eventually, what to look for - onto the running demianapachetomcat framework. Actually, all I have been provided was: 1. call 'Henplus' (done); 2. connect this way (jdbc:sapdb://localhost/database&options) and 3. select, upgrade, delete what needed. Problem arises on point (2): connection resufed 'user space exhausted'.
My question is: this issue seems so similar to mine, how can one eventually check/modify this '/sapdb directory space'?
Thanks in advance for any (much appreciated) hint, and be patient about my English and newbyeness (?).

Error message when updating Itunes...can not open Itunes program

I am recieving error message when updating Itunes for my computer. The error message reads "MSVCR80.dll is missing and the other error message reads Error 7 (Windows error 126)" I can not open my Itunes. I have reloaded the Itunes onto my computer but still have the same error messages. Please help.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

I'll go ahead and bust out a full explanation of the issue for those of you who may not want to navigate to the other thread:
I'm getting the following error message when trying to publish my project as a handout:
I'm launching Cap 7 in admin mode on a windows 8 machine and trying to publish to Word 2013.
I'll select a publish location and start the publish, it gets to 10% and then stalls out (the error message doesn't appear at this time). If I hit alt+tab, I'll see a "Save as" window. I'll reselect the directory and name the file correctly and hit save. That moves the progress bar to 100% and the error message appears. I've tried to copy and paste the slides to a new project and the same thing occurs. From what I've seen, others have had this problem but I've yet to see a confirmed fix. If you've run into the issue and solved it, please let me know. Is there a word plugin I need to install? Is there a way to bamboozle my handouts from captivate to .pdf to word? That would be cumbersome but I'm not scared to try it.

I've completely uninstalled vmaware fusion. and would like to install a new copy of windows7 plus my vmware fusion3.0 that I have on a disk. I wonder if windows7 is still buried in my mac hard drive somewhere? I can see some windows files on my mac but they appear a gray and can not be accessed. Could there be a problem installing a new copy of windows through boot camp? It seems to do so wouldn't be a clean install as I suspect that windows 7 is still on the drive somewhere. I've tried to follow the path the file I listed above, but nothing comes up. I'm almost certain it was accidentally deleted completely from the hard drive as it was quarantined while using Clam X anti-virus. I'm a relatively new mac user and long time PC user, but a computer genius I am not. I don't want to have to reformat the whole mac machine and lose my current files, etc.
I've uninstalled vmare completely and reinstalled, it, but the problem persists.
Any help?
