Error msg at launch says "Registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. ... Please reinstall iTunes."
Each time I launch iTunes (latest version) on Windows 7 (w/ latest system updates) I receive the following error msg:
"Warning! The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
When I click on "OK" iTunes completes the launch process and the application functions properly. This error msg appears without fail every time I launch the app.
I have reinstalled iTunes four times and continue to receive this message. iTunes is set in the system Control Panel as the default program for all functions that iTunes uses. I never burn CDs or DVDs and have never attempted to do so on this machine. I have had iTunes on this computer since I bought it last November and never had a problem with it until 2 months ago when this message began popping up. I did not notice any action I took that caused this, in terms of creating conflicts.
I hope someone can assist me in finding a way to stop this annoying error! Thanks!
David

I can't open the iTunes store and keep getting this error message. "Registry settings used by the iT drivers for importing & burning CDs & DVDs are missing. Reinstall iTunes." I've reinstalled iT a half dozen times with no results.
You might have two different things going on at once here.
Starting with the registry settings message.

cant run itunes on my windows xp,when i install it and try to open itunes,it keeps on saying "itunes cant run because some of its required files are missing. please reinstall itunes... what can i do...
You should first uninstall iTunes completely.
This is not an easy task!
Read this article on how to remove iTunes completely

Then download the latest version of iTunes for your Windows Version and install it. -
ITunes says registry settings for importing and burning CDs or DVDs are missing.
i get a message after installing itunes 10.7 that registry settings are missing for importing and burning CD/DVDS. Says probably due to installing other burning sofware. Re-install ituenes. I never installed anything between the older 10.6 and the new 10.7........just updated when it said new Apple software was available. The update process seemed to delete the 10.6 install and then re-install a new version of itunes, 10.7. Then the registry settings error message started coming up each time I start itunes. What's the proper way to re-install?
Thanks for any suggestions.I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)

It worked fine one day then failed with this error the next. I tried the repair and a completely fresh install with the same result. I also tried installing an older version (7.0). It installed, but would not connect to the server so I ran the upgrade hoping that it would work. No joy. Back to the error... I haven't been able to find any other things that might fix it. Can anyone help?
I did try to uninstall and reinstall. It messed up my computer. I had to "RESTORE" from the prior days backup. This was not helpful at all. I'm used to losing all my stuff when I connect to iTunes, that's a whole other issue, but now I'm completely banned from any updates to my phone at all. Geeze.......

That's crazy. A serial number is not required.
Are you certain you chose the correct version to download?

I have installed iTunes 7.3.1. When I start iTunes, I get an error window titled "iTunes Setup Assistant" The text in the window is "The reggistry setings used by itunes drivers for importing or burning CD's and DVD's are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall itunes." I then click on the ok button and itunes loads just fine but without the burn option. I have uninstalled Roxio Creator 8, Yahoo Picassa2 and any other softeware that might have a disc burning option. I then uninstalled itunes, rebooted and then reinstalled itunes. I still get the same message. What else can I do to get iTunes to be able to imnport and burn discs?xz
First try rebooting and repairing.
Reboot the PC (very important) and then do a repair install of iTunes. In Add/Remove Programs, select iTUnes, click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy there, check for a device filter conflict in registry, as per the following document:

Everytime I connect my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to my laptop, running Win 7 (64 bit) I get the message "The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes" I have reinstalled iTunes several times and it has not fixed the issue. I am running ver 10.2.2.12 of iTunes. I HAVE NOT installed any other burning software to my laptop either. I haven't tried uninstalling iTunes and then re-installing it yet. Would that perhaps fix the problem? I've read that many users have had issues with the new version of the software and I was wondering if that might be causing my issue. I'd like to point out that iTunes seems to work after getting rid of the message, but I haven't tried to burn any CDs or put music from a CD to my laptop. Any ideas on how to get rid of the annoying message?
I also am having trouble hooking up with our other computers using Homegroup. I noticed quite a lot of people are having the same issue and hopefully they come up with a fix for that soon.

If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:

When starting iTunes I continually get an error message " The registry Settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burning CDs and DVDs are missing. I have unistalled and reinstalled iTunes several times and have cleaned up the registry using a 3rd party Windows utility. Any tips on removing this error message for good?
