when trying to clean my local gpo with the command:
secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb

i get this error msg:

As you mentioned the error msg occurred to the secedit.sdb file,
Please follow the actions below:
1. Delete file: secedit.sdb from c:\Windows\security\database
2. Reboot machine.
3. Run the command again: secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\inf\defltbase.inf /db defltbase.sdb
/verbose
4. Reboot machine.
5. Run Gpupdate /force
6. Check your new GPO Settings.
Notice for any changes.

I've been trying to reset .Mac sync, and I keep getting this error msg

what is this?

A bug; probably the result of a corrupt schema. If you really want to wipe the slate clean you can get rid of ~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices/Local, but you should make sure you have a backup handy just in case you lose something you care about in the process.

How to get Error Msg from A step in TestStand into a variable (with Record Result disable)

I have disable "Record Result" in a step (action) that call a Labview VI (Minimise memory usage during long run).
But I want to capture the error msg and put it in a local variable (locals.log).
So in the "Post Expression" of that step, I add:
locals.log = step.result.error.msg
But it always an empty string, Is the post expression executed when the there is an error in the step ?
So How can I capture it ?

Hi,
The trouble is that when a step errors, the Post Expression doesn't get executed.
Try using one of the Override callbacks - SequenceFilePostStepRuntimeError, ProcessModelPostStepRuntimeError or StationPostStepRuntimeError.
There is an example in the Examples\Callbacks.
The Step properties are passed as a parameter to the callback so you can get the error message and do your logging.

Error msg is generated when attempt to crop a TIF that included a 3rd party filter (Win7 Pro SP1)

Error msg is generated when attempt to crop a TIF that included a 3rd party filter not on
local machine. (Windows 7 Professional SP1)
1. File created in CS5 with third party filter applied to smart object (filter:Neat Image
published by ABSoft.)
2 Transfer to another computer that does not have the filter installed.
3. Open in Photoshop CS6.
4. Use crop tool to attempt to crop the photo.
5. Receive error message "Could not complete the command because of a program
error."
6. Crop completes and can be saved, but filter is disabled and cannot be enabled unless
moved back to original computer.
Expected result should be:
Allow filter to be enabled as CS5. Or message similar to message produced with
missing font.

See if you can troubleshoot Safari extensions and third party plugins before Safari crashes.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect: Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.

Clearing local gpo to a blank slate...

Hello,
I've been wondering if it is possible to clear a local gpo to the windows defaults (like if the machine was freshly installed and never had gpo's applied)?
Prior to using ZEN to push gpos, we had manually set gpo on each machine. Once using ZEN, these already in-place gpo settings got merged with new settings being pushed out from ZEN. At times when ZEN would fail to apply those ZEN gpo settings, it would revert to the previously in placed gpo settings.
Example: Prior to using ZEN, we had set our WSUS environment settings via the local gpo. After using ZEN, we had moved our WSUS to a new server and had to change the settings on our clients. Using ZEN, we pushed a gpo with these new settings. That works until the machine doesn't apply these ZEN gpos properly or at all at times, thus reverting them to the old/previous local gpo settings that contained the now invalid WSUS settings. Machines stopped getting updates, etc...
So would it be possible to completely wipe or reset to windows default the local gpo settings, so that we can push fresh, correct gpo from ZEN instead?

On Logoff and Shutdown, ZCM will restore Original Settings that were on
the device when the agent was installed.
These are stored in %zenworks_home%\bin\cachefiles\something (Don't
recall exactly w/o looking, but its obvious once you are down that far.)
You can replace those with copies from a clean PC.

HP developers refer to the ink cartridge as a "pen".
Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model? What operating system? Cleaning the cartrdige contacts as shown in this document may resolve the issue.

when i'm trying to run a query on 0COOM_CO2 cube, the system is throwing a error msg.
error msg:
     No value could be determined for variable 0P_FVAEX.
     Message no. BRAIN632
     Diagnosis
     This error diagnosis is specific only to the variables 0P_FVAEX or
     0P_CTPCA !
     Termination message BRAIN 632 appears:
     Could not determine value for variable 0P_FVAEX (or 0P_CTPCA).
     System response
     1. Operation method of SAP-Exit-Variables 0P_FVAEX or 0P_CTPCA
     With queries from the CO application, both SAP-Exit-Variables look for
     an entry for 'controlling area'. With this controlling area from the
     selection screen, the SAP-Exit-Variables program reads the attributes
     for InfoObject 0CO_AREA (controlling area).
     With queries from the FI application, the SAP Exit Variable 0P_FVAEX
     looks for an entry for 'company code'. With this company code from the
     selection screen, the SAP Exit Variables program reads the attributes
     for InfoObject 0COMP_CODE (Company Code).
     0P_FVAEX determines the fiscal year variant (attribute 0FISCVARNT) from
     the attributes for 0CO_AREA (CO queries) or 0COMP_CODE (FI queries).
     0P_CTPCA determines the currency type of the profit center local
     currency (attribute 0CURTP_PCA) from the attributes for 0CO_AREA.
     2. Cause of Error
     The attributes for the controlling area (InfoObject 0CO_AREA) or company
     code (InfoObject 0COMP_CODE) were not loaded into the BW system, or the
     attributes for the controlling area are not active in the BW system.
     Check whether this is the cause of the error in your BW system. Display
     the contents of table /bi0/mco_area or /bi0/mcomp_code using transaction
     se16.
     Application CO:
     Check whether the attributes 'fiscal year variant' (field FISCVARNT) and
     'profit center local currency currency type' (field CURTP_PCA) are
     filled in the 'A' version (field OBJVERS) for the selected controlling
     area. If the fiscal year variant in the OBJVERS = 'A' is empty, then the
     error is with variable 0P_FVAEX. If the currency type of the profit
     center's local currency in OBJVERS = 'A' is empty, then the error is
     with variable 0P_CTPCA.
     Application FI:
     Check whether or not the attribute 'fiscal year variant' (field
     FISCVARNT) is filled in the 'A' version (field OBJVERS) for the selected
     controlling area. If the fiscal year variant is empty in OBJVERS= 'A',
     then the error is with variable 0P_FVAEX.
     Procedure
     Using InfoSource 0CO_AREA, load the attributes for the controlling area
     or company code into your BW system.
     Afterwards, activate the attribute changes in your BW system. To do
     this, use transaction rsa1, path 'Tools > Hierarchy/Attribute changes',
     functions button 'InfoObject list'. Choose InfoObject 0CO_AREA or
     0COMP_CODE from this list, and activate the attribute changes.

The variable 0P_FVAEX fills the fiscal year variant based on the following checks in the order:
1. If you have a variable for 0CO_AREA the system looks into the first entry and determines the attribute 0FISCVARNT of 0CO_AREA.
2. The same for 0COMP_CODE.
3. Check if there is a variable for IM Program hierarchy and look for 0FISCVARNT.
4. Check project data for fiscal year variant.
5. Check CO area of the asset.
6. Get Fiscal Year variant from Oracle company(!)
7. Get FY variant from Oracle company code.
8. Get FY variant from Oracle organization.
So you need to use one of these info Objects in your variables.

Also on most autmated systems, if you hit 00000, or ##### you can sometimes get thru to a person.
Is Yahoo your Internet provider? Do you have a local provider? ei:AT&T, SBC, cable co, check who you make your check or epatment to...etc, If so I would start there, but if no joy go to the "Mothership"
I may be wrong about this, (it's been a long time now) I may have deleted my mail account from Mail (after writing down all the info from all General/accounts, and the rest of the tabs, and then added a new account using my existing email address, and it may have "walked me thru the rest of the proceedure".
But like I said it was a long time ago 3-4 years, but that may have been the path I ended up taking, make sure to write all the info down in case you need to re-enter it all manually. Then try calling them.

Out of nowhere, I'm unable to run AOL anymore. I get an error
msg stating:

... the choices are "OK" and "Settings...". When I click OK,
or the close X, the window disappears & then reappears in 15
seconds. Nothing happens when I click settings. WHAT is going on?
I've run every Virus checker & computer checker I have and have
found nothing. Do I need to uninstall Flash Player? I need AOL to
run my business! It was working find this AM and suddenly its not!

This is not an issue that can be resolved by Adobe Technical
Support.
This is a content development issue on the AOL side. You can

Windows 7 PC error msg when trying to (re)install Adobe Reader

After manually cleaning up my HD to make room, I'm thinking that could be the reason, but I don't remember uninstalling any Adobe products. The error msg is as follows: "Windows installer does not permit updating of managed advertised products. At least one feature of the product must be installed before applying the update". Please help me workaround this to install it properly. Thx

I suggest that you uninstall any remains of existing Reader versions using http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html then download and run the installer from http://get.adobe.com/reader/enterprise/

App store app giving error msg "ConnectionManager::invoke::Failed to find service connection url." when using correct passord

Hi,
I'm using the correct apple id/pwd. I get this error msg:
ConnectionManager::invoke::Failed to find service connection url.
Too many tries forced me to change my pwd. Using new pwd, still getting that error msg:
ConnectionManager::invoke::Failed to find service connection url.
Am trying to re-download purchases I lost due to needing to do a clean reinstall to correct some mystery issue. I was able to re-download some such old purchases the other day--but not now.

App update error msg

When I try to update my apps on my iphone, I get the error msg "App not compatible with this iPhone." I am able to download a new app. I have the latest software update. I have tried turning the phone on and off. Any other suggestions?

some updates leave old models or old iOS versions behind. That's the way technology evolves. You must then stick with last version that is working with it. ( they are locally in your Itunes music folder, under "mobile applications", good idea to back up these *ipa files - some time in the future they will not be available ). You can drag and drop the apps icons from within PC/Mac to the connected iPhone, that will re-install these locally versions on the iphone.
If you use iTunes AppStore from Mac/PC you can also read the system requirements on ech App's info box.
I would say more and more apps now will certainly require iOS5 instead of 4.x , and as more and more apps make use of Retina Display, the 3GS would be out - even with iOS5 on it.

FYI... your Mac does maintenance for you. There's no need to download purchased or free so called "cleaning" utilities on a Mac.
If you have problems with your Mac, you will need to use Lion Recovery, not third party.

if you're using windows, click the start button>control panel>uninstall programs> and check for adobe acrobat and adobe reader. don't uninstall anything if you find it.
but if you find no acrobat/reader run the cleaner (Download Adobe Reader and Acrobat Cleaner Tool - Adobe Labs) and then try and install adobe reader.
