Error NSURLErrorDomain -1005

I am experiencing problems the last days in 10.4.7. I'm getting the Error NSURLErrorDomain -1005 errors the pages just won't load.
The same pages fail to load in IE and firefox.
Please help

Tiger 10,4,10 6 wks old, new Mac user. Believed I had a hacker, Genius Bar disconnected bluetooth and Wifi. 35 pass erase, reinstallation. While in the process of updating, everything updated (at least 7 items) EXCEPT iLife Support version 8.1 which gave me this error:

I have tried numerous times, still get this message. Any information?

I have gotten that error numerous times both with my iBook and with my MBP. I connect using the internal modem on the iBook and the external modem on the MBP using dial up. I have always just assumed it was a problem with the telephone line but I don't really know. I just keep trying and eventually I get a successful download. But I am curious about this too.

NSURLErrorDomain-1005 when trying to update software

I have twelve MacBooks all running OS X 10.4.11 in my classroom. I need to update them all. SU repeated gives me this:
"A networking error has occurred:
Error NSURLErrorDomain-1005 (-1005).
Make sure you can connect to the
Internet, then try again."
Well, I can connect to the Internet so that isn't the issue. Over lunch, I tried updating my flat panel iMac running 10.4.11 at home, and it worked perfectly. So far, two of the MacBooks have behaved this way. This is not a permissions issue (but yes, I've repaired permissions and checked the disk for failures...nothing turned up). I've deleted plist files and that didn't help. This is not a corrupted disk issue. I've scoured this forum and used Google to try to find an answer, but no one seems to have found a definitive fix for this. Is the only workaround installing the updates manually? That's going to be tough for twelve computers and classes beginning on Monday. Upgrading to Leopard is not an option.
Any suggestions that don't involve repairing permissions?

No. It is just that if you have a dubious connection it is better to do the download under your control and check it properly. There is still the same probability of the connection being dropped, but you can retry, perhaps at a less busy moment.
After manual download, be sure to verify the digest:

(This is done automatically when you use Software Update).

Software Updates - NSURLErrorDomain -1005 (-1005)

I am unable to update software. I keep on getting the following error message: NSURLErrorDomain -1005 (-1005)- What does this mean?
I am prompted to check the network connection. I have checked the connection and there is nothing wrong (as far as I can tell) - I am able to download other files without any problems: the issue seems to be specific to the update program.
What can I do to get update to work? Failing that, is there any way to download update files directly (i.e without using the software update program)?

I have been having the same problem, I never did figure out what it was. I deleted prefs and caches, I replaced the Software Update application, nothing worked. It fails with the same error whether you just click the install button or if you try to download only or install and keep. After other issues appeared, I did a fresh install of Tiger and the problem was gone for a while. Now when I tried to download the firmware update, the problem is back. The update is reported as being 3.2MB in size, but after the download starts the total size is no longer listed and it only reports how much has been downloaded so far. I never noticed a problem like this before 10.4.10, but I'm not sure what else is there that could be causing problems. Disk Utility isn't reporting any problems and I don't see any other odd behavior at this time. As I mentioned earlier in the post, I had other problems the first time before I reinstalled. I don't know if it was related to this problem, but the system was acting very strangely. Random crashes, and windows and dialogs with incorrect text or strange graphics like a corrupted image where the normal error or status dialogs would be.

I am trying to incorporate Crystal Reports XI R2 with in-house application - Windows platform, Oracle9i, Websphere Studio Application Development 5.1, and JVM 1.4.2 with OCI8 driver and JNDI connection.
I am not getting any error while running it in the project where I first implemented. If I import a EAR file from that project and deploy it in another project and run it, I am getting error in the new project as follows:

I suspect it is probably just a WSAD configuration issue. If you have simply moved the EAR from one project to another, it might be missing some libraries or the some of the libraries may have been corrupted in the move, or it might be a problem with the build path. Try deleting and readding the JRC libraries to the project. If you are deploying to the test server within WSAD, try creating a new instance of it and deploying the project on the new instance.

Error message 1005 on Safari

When ever I try to post to a topic, or even sometimes change pages on my web-site, I have a screen come up with the error message 1005 come up.
It doesn't really give me any place to report this message to, but tells me to report it with the number 1005.
I then refresh the page and it goes ahead and loads usually.
Can I change the settings to resolve this issue. I am not real saavy on that so I'd need step by step to do it.
My husbands G-4 power book is doing the same thing. He says he has to refresh each time he goes to another page on our forum.
Our web guy is totally unfamilier with Mac. so we don't know if it is an issue with the web-site software and Mac or not. No one else is experiencing this.

This appears to be an error associated with MS Exchange Servers.
If this is the case, then I believe the server administrators need to install an updated service pack. I don't think there's anything that can be done on the client (user) side.

That error may result from connecting to a cellular network via a phone or mobile broadband device. If that's what you're doing, try another network.

I've been getting the same error from the App Store tonight:
Likely just a problem with the App Store. I wouldn't worry too much about it. The servers aren't completely down, it seems - I was able to update one app before getting the message. But the servers seem to be having some sort of trouble. Try again later in the day - I'm sure that it will be fixed at some point in the near future.

Error NSURLE-error domain 1005

I am operating off Alltell for my internet hook up and am trying to load Apple software updates. Before a subject is finished I get the following error message. Error NSURLE error domain-1005 make sure you can connect to the internet. This is while the Alltell hookup is connected and working. Any suggestions?

Recovery disks displaying error code 1005.

just installed a new hard drive, old one blue screened. when installing recovery disks, at 20% progress, an error code 1005 appears. press ok, then system starts again, yet same thing happens each time. not sure what is happening, nor how to fix problem. is it the disk, the new hard drive or ???
