Error number 4251 when trying to burn CDs

Ever since I updated my iTunes to the newest version (iTunes 7), I can't burn CDs. I'm using the exact same CDs I've used many times before with no problems. I've read in this forum to change the media, change the burn speed, etc. I've tried both Sony and HP CD's. Is there a particular kind that works for this problem? Anyone else solved this problem?? Thank you!

I had tried a bunch of other things that were suggested on this web site but none of them worked. I just tried it again by creating a new play list and downloading it from there and it worked fine!

  • Error code 0x80020063 when trying to burn cds. HELP PLEASE

I have a brand new Macbook Pro, less than 90 days old and am having CD burning issues.
Every other cd I try to burn it fails at the end when it goes to verify the CD. This is getting old as I am throwing away half my CD's. I have searched all over and cannot find a fix. HELP, whats the deal here.

If this is the error (error code 0x80020063) then it may be happening on verification. The second time it occurred I popped the disk back in and ran disk utilities to verify the "faulty" CD. It came up clean. When I double clicked on it, all the files I had copied were there. I even opened a few to make sure. It may be a spurious reading—at least it was in my case. Hope this helps.

  • How do I fix the 4900 error I get when trying to burn a cd in itunes?

how do I fix the 4900 error I get when trying to burn a cd in itunes?

We are having the same issue.
    Windows 7 x64
    Microsoft Office 2013 (Word)
    Adobe Reader XI (11.0.0)
Whenever someone tries to embed a PDF file into a Word document, the following error occurs:
The program used to create this object is AcroExch. That program is either not installed on your computer or it is not responding. To edit this object, install AcroExch or ensure that any dialog boxes in AcroExch are closed.
I have looked at alot of articles online that say to 'Disable' Protected Mode.  This does not resolve the issue.  This option is not set by default in our environment.
Do we have any confirmation or information from Adobe on this issue?

  • I am getting error code 0x8002006E when trying to burn a DVD

Hi, I am running the latest Lion update, on my MB Pro, and keep getting the error code 0x8002006E when trying to burn a DVD. Could this be a dirty lens issue in the drive. I see that many others have had the same problem, but relly cant seem to find anyone that has a solution that works.. Help

It's an error thrown by Mac OS X's DiscRecording framework (as opposed to an error communicated by the drive's firmware). The message is (as you probably saw)
"The burn failed because of a medium write error."
Could this be a dirty lens issue in the drive.
I don't think there's one single cause for this error. It might be a dirty lens. It might be something else. Not all recordable optical discs work well with all burners. Try a different brand.

I keep getting unknown error occured(4450) when trying to burn a CD, running Windows Vista...any help would be apprciated.

I had this issue to when trying to burn discs recently. I went into the CD creation settings in iTunes and I "unchecked" the option to "Include CD Text" and after I did that, the disc I had been trying to burn several times with error, actually burned without fail. Give that a try and see what happens.

I cannot find any information under support that will help me clear it up. I have made sure that the setting is audio cd and have even set the burn speed to 4x to see if this helps and to no available. The only thing that I have done all night is waste cds.

You would not believe it. I went and purchased a different pack of CD-R's and the problem is resolved. The entire package of memorex CD's were garbage!

  • Error Code when trying to burn cds

    Hi
i have tried to burn cds using my iMac but for the last while i have been getting the same error , "burning of the disc failed because communication to the disc drive failed. Error code 0x80020022"
this error appears if i try to burn music cds or data cds ( documents/photos etc. ) . i searched through all the forums but i can't find a solution. i have tried using disk utility to repair permissions etc. but it says there all fine. i have tried changing cd brands but it doesn't make a difference. i can't use the hardware test on my installation cd because it just spins in the cd and then spits the cd out and just starts as normal yet when i put in a cd it reads it and asks if i want to import it into iTunes. i downloaded Onyx and let it do its thing but that didn't fix it. i also went looking but i can't find a firmware update for the cd drive on my mac. the cd drive in my mac is a "MATSHITA CD-RW CW-8124" . I was wondering if this was a common problem and how do i go about fixing it. one person told me that the cd burner would probably need to be replaced in order to fix this problem is that correct and is that costly . i'm at a loss to what else i can try so i would be very thankful for any help or information you could give to help me get this back working again. Thanks a million

    Hi there,
I am writing here as an "end-user" and not as a professional computer advisor, and because I've had some problems alike with my older iMac. I've written about my case in here:http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1832474&tstart=0
I would also like to know if there are some procedures to do in OS X (I have 10.3.9) regularly to make sure that the internal cd-rw-drive burns without "having it's own opinion" and giving all kind's of stuped error-signals or even throwing-out the cd-rw's when ordered to burn them.
I haven't figured out if there is a straight way to do this in OS X with the original Apple-applications. However, I've found a 3rd party freeware application called Burn X Free (1.5 (v1.5)) which at the moment seems to work and do the job of burning cd-rw's. Earlier I was able to burn them in Finder, after going from OS X 10.2.8 to 10.3.9 I begun to have burnig-problems, but might be that the origin of the problems is not the X 10.3.9. Anyway, with my user short experience of Burn X Free (1.5 (v1.5))-application I can recommend it if nothing else after all maintenance procedures works...
However, I would like to know how you solved the problem after all.

  • Error message 4000 when trying to burn a cd in itunes

I am having problems burning a cd in itunes. I am getting the error message the attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred  (4000). Can someone tell me how I can fix this problem.  Please note that I have looked up other ways to solve problem and have tried them and none of them seem to work.  Such as in program files I clicked on repair and not uninstall to see if there was any possible corrupt itunes files to be fixed.  I changed the burn speed and that did not work. The only thing I did not do was a total uninstall of itunes. I need to know should I do that and if so what site will I need to go on to re-install itunes  and will I have to pay for it? My computer which is Windows XP already had itunes on it when I bought it so I do not want to pay for itunes. So can someone please give me some guidance regarding this matter. And please note that I was able to burn cd's in itunes before and then it just stopped working. And I have tested my computer with the windows media player and I was able to burn music from my music library so I know my problem is with itunes.
    Thanks!

  • HT203175 keep getting error code 81 when trying to import cds into itunes

since installing itunes 11 i keep getting a error message which says an unkown error occurred (81) when trying to impoprt cd's
any ideas as to why would be helpful thanks.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Windows 7 instructions in the following document: How to use CHKDSK (Check Disk)
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • I get "medium write error" when trying to burn cds

I tried to burn a playlist from iTunes and it burned one copy, then when I tried to burn a second copy my computer made alot of noise during the "initializing/finishing" stage, spit the cd out and said "medium write error" - i've tried another cd, and tried burning another playlist with the same results. Any idea what's wrong or if there is anything I can do about it???
    Thanks

First, try quitting all other applications except iTunes.
Second, try burning at a slower rate.
Then try a different brand/batch of CDs.
I believe the default burn setting is 'as fast as possible'.
Today I got perfect results at 20x or slower on my mid-2007 Core2Duo MacBook SuperDrive, and about 1 out of 3 at 24x and faster with a major brand name media labeled 'up to 52x'.
Yeah, it takes a little more time to burn each disc, but if you only have a 50% success rate with a faster speed, you're not really saving any time.
The reason I suggest quitting all other applications is that heavy CPU use seems to diminish my burn success rate on all of my computers, including the Windows boxes. Your mileage may vary.

  • Error 4251 when trying to burn

I've had iTunes for years but just bought and downloaded an album, when I tried to burn I got error 4251. I tried burning three times but got the same error, any idea how to fix this?

"I've had iTunes for years but just bought and downloaded an album, when I tried to burn I got error 4251. I tried burning three times but got the same error, any idea how to fix this?"
I've seen multiple threads on this same error message. Since I'm very new to iTunes, I thought it was me or my PC, so I guess I'm relieved in a way to learn that this problem is being experienced even by long-time iTunes users.
To me, this says that something in a recent release of iTunes is the culprit. What I don't know is if Apple will consider a problem that Windows users are having to be serious enough to investigate and fix.
I actually thought I had a work-around. I went to edit/preferences/advanced/burning and changed to speed from the highest speed to 16X, and I managed to get 10 songs on a disc before it went 4251. I took the speed down to 6X, and got 12 songs. I went to 2X, and it went 4251 after 5 songs.
    So much for that work-around.

  • Please help: strange error message when trying to burn cds

I have been trying to burn an itunes playlist onto cds and I have never had trouble doing this before, but just this afternoon I have started getting an error message and the disc will automatically eject itself immediately following the initializing stage.
The error message I receive is this: "The attempt to burn a disc failed. The device failed to calibrate the laser power for this media."
What does this mean? What can I do to fix the problem? Thank you in advance!!
(Additional information in case this is helpful: The discs are Maxwell CD-R audio cds with 700mb/80min capacity, and my itunes is version 7.3.1. The playlist is long -- spanning multiple cd lengths -- but I have never encountered a problem with that before, so I don't think that is causing the error.)

Same here.Although i've had this problem since febuary of this year.
Just upgraded to 7.4 and it still does'nt work. Its not an uncommon problem, there has been hundreds of threads about this and thousands of users with the same problem, apple don't seem to want to recognise or solve the problem.Disgraceful behaviour on their part.
I've simply had enough now so i've contacted these...
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/consumer/tvand_radio/watchdog/contactindex.shtml
...people.Hopefully they can make apple sit up and take notice of this problem, although i have my doubts.I suggest you do the same if you to have had enough of apple's simply dreadful customer service and faulty software.
Sorry i could'nt be of any help to you but i can assure you that are not alone in this.
