Error occurred creating OD replica

Question

Hello all, I am trying to create an OD replica and am having some frustrating problems. Recently, I added a second server, created an OD replica, and then changed the hostname on my OD master and that hosed up my replica. Prior to my hostname change, the replica appeared as "mplssv02.domain.com". After I changed the hostname to mplssv01, the replica became "mplssv02.mplssv01.domain.com". On the master, when I attempt to delete the replica, I give it the diradmin username and password, the server admin username and password, it thinks for a few seconds and then does nothing. So I created a DNS A record for "mplssv02.mplssv01.domain.com" and tried deleting it again and this time it finds the server and says it is destroying the replica and then it returns to the OD pane and the replica is still there! Why won't it go away!? I've tried restarting the machine, the OD service and still cannot figure this out.
On the replica server I was able to successfully remove the replica but now I cannot recreate it. I get this error message:

I've tried to create a replica on both machines and I get the same error regardless. I've tried to remove the bad replica on my master machine by running:
sudo slapconfig -removereplica 10.33.1.16 svadmin
I don't get any errors in terminal and it says it has destroyed the replica but it still shows up in the OD pane of server.app.
What else can I try to get this working again?

Solved it!
As it turns out (according to Apple Enterprise Support), if slapconfig -removereplica command does not work it is because the replica records are orphaned and stuck in the OD abyss. The records became irphaned when I changed the hostname of the master. Apparently that's a bad idea.
So I had to use workgroup manager to export my users, groups, and computer records. Then I used slapconfig -destroyldapserver to completely blow away the OD database. Then in Server.app I turned OD back on and followed prompts to create a new domain master. Once that was done I imported my users, groups, and computers into workgroup manager and reset the passwords on all the accounts. Importing and exporting retains everything except passwords.
Then I recreated my replica on my second machine and all is well again. Hope this helps others in the same position.
