Iam trying to downlaod IOS 7 on my Iphone 4s. Getting error saying " There is a problem downlaoding the software for the iphone. An unknown error occured(502).....Kindly help if any body know fix for this.........Appreciate your help....Many Thanks in Advance................

Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Release the Buttons.

error 1015 usually means you have a jailbroken devices, which per the term of use of the forum, you can't get any help here.

No. Apple only approves iOS 6 for the iPhone 4. So you have to go straight to 6, with iTunes on your computer.

When I try to download iOS 8.0.2 (or even when I tried to download iOS 8), I receive an error message telling me my network connection has timed out. I even tried troubleshooting by chatting with Apple support. Nothing they tried worked either. I eventually had to go to my neighbor's house and use her Mac and her wi-fi. Even that took a couple tries before she stopped receiving that error message too. I have the most up to date versions of my Mac software and iTunes. Thank you for your response, I went throught each and every step without any luck, even got the recovery programme, and painstakingly tried to sift through all that mumbojumbo to find what i needed. finally found the bookmark bit, but it had been fully overwritten :(, so on reading about previous ff versions, found the sqlite thingys, and they were relatively unscathed(partly written over, but saveable apparently TG), saved them to adiff drive, amongst other possibly good folders. Then looked up how to install them, and it said to close FF, and install to profile folder.
So i tried to close FF, and the original problem from a few days ago, where it asked me if 'i was sure i wanted to close this window as it has X tabs open', popped up again. This is where 'open blank page' selection was set, over 'open previous tabs'. Wanting to save that info on how to sort out these friggin files, I reset the Option to 'open previous tabs', and closed FF. After unsucessfully searching for the profile folder on my laptop, i opened FF intending to search online for where i could find said folder.
AND BANG, surprise surprise, the FF I had just closed with only tabs open about finding out what the heck to do, had disappeared, and instead my original saved tabs were up, and my bookmarks are there..... I am gobsmacked! what the heck just happened there???
I have made 3 back up in different folders now, of those friggin bookmarks. I am weary now tho of shutting it all down.... what if its back to the other pages I had with no bookmarks, tomorrow :(

I've tried at least 10 times to download 1.1.3 Each time I'm told the download failed and the reason is error code 3256. Anyone else have this problem? Any ideas?

Has anyone figured out the 3256 error? I've tried getting the Jan 08 iphone update about 10+ times and can't get past this. The link in the prior string didn't address a fix. My firewall says "allow all incoming connections" so I'm still confused as to why I can't get this update.

a google search seems to point to a network issue with security, such as firewall settings, etc etc, but we never had this problem before - for example when updating to iOS4.01 - and nothing has changed since then in terms of settings. I will check these settings at the earliest oportunity, but if anyone has any suggestions in the meantime, i would be very grateful to hear them...

The error 1009 error is normally associated with a blocked country. There are a list of countries that Apple is not allowed to sell their software to due to US restrictions

Are you using iTunes to do the update OTA on your iPhone? If its on iTunes and its giving you the error
I reccomend creating a iCloud backup and then downloading the iOS 7.0.2 .ipsw file and installing it manually from your PC. So follow these steps below to do this. (these instructions are for Windows i dont have a Mac so i don't know what you do haha but if you need it i could help and try.
Connect your iPhone to your PC and open iTunes.
If your iPhone uses AT&T or i think T-Moblie download the file here http://appldnld.apple.com/iOS7/091-9871.20130924.7imYu/iPhone3,1_7.0.2_11A501_Re store.ipsw (its large! about 1.2 GB)

Now once it's downloaded go to iTunes while your iPhone 4 is connected and hold SHIFT AND CLICK "Check for update" and then find where you downloaded the .ipsw file and select it.
It should work if there is a problem please reply and tell me the issue. Oh and btw MAKE SURE YOY DO A BACKUP TO iCloud

I have in my family 2 iPads, 1 iPad mini and 2 iPhones.
All of the upgrades fail with the following error :
"an error occurred in downloading iOS 7.0"
Sometimes the download starts and then a few minutes later terminates in this error, most of the time the error pops immediatly.

I also can not download the new iTunes, that fails as well in error.

Try a different alternative to updating your iPad. If you are using the Software Update on the iPad then try in iTunes. The article below will give the different options for updating your iPad.

Something temporarily wrong with your internet connection?
Be aware that this is a very large file to download, it needs a strong consistent internet connection.
Have the iPhone on the charger cable too.
In the meantime read the threads in this forum about the visibility item and some other possible issues on the 4 and 4S (although a large number of people have these issues, it is still a minor percentage, but anyhow, be aware).
