Error on ipod classic -  managed to wipe using restore but will no longer sync says i need to restore but does nothing when i do so

When turns on now it goes to choose language page and is just like a brand new ipod except I have no way of being able to put music on as I always get told to restore which doesnt solve problem

Do the iPod Disk Diagnostic as posted earlier by tt2, it wont fix your problem, but helps in troubleshooting.

It sounds like your iPod classic isn't turning on or has a blank black screen. Take a look at the webpage below and try the suggestions provided by the troubleshooting assistant.

  • IPod Classic - AutoSync stops copying music midway, but does not freeze.

I have a brand new 160 GB Classic. When I connect it to my Powerbook, it begins the normal process of auto-syncing my library. I have a total of just over 5000 songs; When it gets to about 3200, it stops, and says Sync is complete. I press "Sync" again, and it starts where it left off, but then stops again at around 4800 songs. I've gone thru this several times, and am now 4 songs away from getting a "complete" sync (where my entire library will finally be copied onto my iPod).
What's causing the iPod to think that it's already copied everything when there's still more stuff it needs to copy?

    Dandy.
Well, for anyone looking at this, I may have figured it out. I had a total of 5366 songs in iTunes; after numerous clicks of the "Sync" button, I was able to get 5365 of them on to the iPod. However, even in Manual mode, I was not able to get the one remaining song to transfer. It took me a good while, but I tracked down which song it was. For whatever reason, it would not copy, even though it was a song ripped from one of my own CD's, and it played fine on my Powerbook and my 4th Gen iPod. I deleted the song, re-ripped it, and it transferred fine. My assumption is that iTunes stopped transferring music once it came to this track in the library.
If that doesn't sound like the case, someone please reply.

  • Ipod no longer syncs says I need an upgrade.

My Ipod touch 16GB was syncing fine with ITunes. Then ITunes said upgrades available. I tried to upgrade and it wiped out everything on my Ipod. Eventually found someone who could get the basics back on it for me. But, when I go to ITunes it states "Ipod cant be used, requires ITunes version 9.2 or later. Download latest version. I'm afraid to do that, because its what wiped out my Ipod the last time. So, I have all my purchases on my computer and no way to "sync" them to my Ipod, as it was before. Please help with any suggestions! Thanks!!

As previous person stated, your ipod firmware is ahead of your itunes version, so your only option for now is to go to apple website and download and install latest version of itunes. Your other ipods should continue to sync fine, I manage 3 ipods on the same computer and everything works fine when I install new itunes version. Back up your purchased music on a disc or an external hard drive before new itunes install, just in case.
To answer your question, you can not update itunes for one specific ipod on the same computer. One computer, one copy of itunes handles all the syncing.

"It" being the iPod Classic I assume.
The iPod Classic does not have Bluetooth.
If the Bose wireless function is Bluetooth, then you could by a Bluetooth transmitter, designed for the Apple 30-pin dock connector. That takes the output from the iPod and sends it via Bluetooth. Power for the transmitter is taken from the iPod.

I can't sync the Not Afraid music video that I purchased this morning to my iPod Classic. It's frustrating because I have no issues syncing other videos and the rest of the album that this video came with synced just fine. Below is an image of what my screen looks like when I try to drag the video across to my iPod:
    Please help!

You can only sync with one iTunes library. If you sync with another one the iPod will be erased and its contents replaced with what is in the library of the second computer.
However, you can manage music among multiple computers. See:
Using iPhone, iPad, or iPod with multiple computers
BTW you posted in the iPod touch forum

  • IPod Classic Screen still black after restoring it

After dropping my iPod classic, the screen went black and I could no longer get it to work.  I was able to restore it however the screen is still black. I can hear it clicking when I spin the will and it connects to iTunes but the screen is still black. Is there any way to fix this?

Put it in the rice for couple of more days. Then
    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - Try on another computer
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
Apple Retail Store - Genius Bar
Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for 16 GB one and $149 for the others. They do not fix yours.

However, using/charging the iPod may have resulted in permentnet damage

    Hi clarity,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
You may want to first try removing and reinstalling the latest version of iTunes by following the steps in this article:

  • HT1351 my ipod classic will no longer sync any movies on latest version of itunes --- why?

Both of my iPods will no longer sync any movies.  They always did before without any problem.  I am using latest version of itunes.  Any suggestions?

If you have an iBook G4, (PPC) you can't do much.
But if that is a MacBook (intel) you may be able to
upgrade the OS X, if the hardware is up to it...
Since there were about nine different build models
of MacBook (not powerpc iBook) to identify what
one you have would be the first step to knowing
what OS X and RAM upgrades it could use.
If the computer is not already at OS X 10.6.8,
it can't go online to get or use OS X 10.7.5. So,
when you more accurately describe the 'Book,
    detailed information is available.
When you find the serial number, there is a web
page that can be used to identify by serial no.
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/identify-mac-serial.php
That'd be a first step. Or even the Model number
which should be visible on the outer case by hinge.
    Good luck & happy computing!

I have an old Ipod 5th gen that I have been using for downloading music from my library.  Upon purchasing an Ipod touch and registering it in Itunes, I can no longer sync tunes to my old ipod.  How can I get that option back on my old ipod?

    - iTunes purchases by maybe
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:

I am trying to sync my ipod classic with itunes 11.0.4 but cant. Cant find source on itunes either. Can anyone tell me what procedure to follow. I also cant find source on itunes. Ipod do show the connection but cant see anywhere on Itunes
can any one help with any information

I'm having sync issues too since I've updated to 11.0.4.  My ipod 160 will no longer sync properly or will hang when attempting to sync yet my 4th gen touch doesn't have any problems.  I am thinking about uninstalling it and rolling back to an older version of itunes.

  • My podcasts will no longer sync with my ipod classic. Also when I tried to sync in itunes, the category "podcast" disappeared under my ipod listed in itunes.

My podcasts will no longer sync with my ipod classic. Also when I tried to sync in itunes, the category "podcast" disappeared under my ipod listed in itunes.

Are you sure your iPod Classic is configured to sync podcasts to your device?  You'll want to double check by taking a quick look at your iPod's Podcast configuration tab in iTunes.
To access this tab, plug your iPod in and click on it from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes when it appears to bring yourself to the iPod's Summary tab. Now locate the Podcasts tab and select it.  Under this tab you can configure how and what podcasts are synced to your device. If you make any changes, be sure to click theApply button in the lower right hand corner.
