Error on upgrade to 2.01 now problems restoring ...help
hi all
first post here.
I went to upgrade my phone to 2.01 this morn, all fine until it errors saying that it cant complete due to unknown error. The phone then just sits there with the apple egg time / wheel on its screen, left it for 30 mins, no joy so reset it.
Came back on with the initial start up screen of a new iphone - connect to Itunes etc.
Did this, and selected the 'restore phone from my last backup'. Its completed this, however the phone has now sat on 'sync in progress' for the past 2 hrs. On Itunes its gone back to the screen saying 'set up your iphone' only options for ' set up new iphone' or restore from backup' and the continue button.
Anyone else experienced this? Should I just leave the phone to hopefully finish syncing - seems like its had plenty of time already? I can cancel the sync by sliding the bar, which (i've tried before) gives me all the apps, but no music or photos. And of course if I reconnect to Itunes i simply get the 'Set up your Iphone' screen.
Any help appreciated
Neil

Upgraded to HD. Now Problems?
I'm making quick edits of the 1080i 60 footage I shot earlier today. As I'm scrolling in the Viewer selecting in and out points my screens begin to flicker. When I didn't scroll or play my video everything was normal, and then I scrolled through again and wow the whole system froze. Safari was up and running and actually loaded a web page while I let my computer sit for about 30 mins hoping it would come back to life. It never did. Comand Option Esc didn't work of course. Um, Is this a Final Cut Problem? My footage? (It's playing off a firewire 800 drive shot with a JVC HM100U) Could it be Snow Leapard?
I have a new 21.5" iMac btw and Final Cut Studio. Any thoughts, suggestions, or whatever is awesome.
jerAs it appeared during FCP's use I would tackle that initially and the first thing to try when FCP behaves weirdly in any inexplicable way is to trash the preferences correctly.

Problem Restoring - Help very much appreciated
I have a 60 G Color Photo iPod. It was working fine until I loaned it to my son. I have a Windows XP computer, my son downloaded songs from his Apple i-book and he set the import feature to manual. My i-pod is frozen and I have gone through all the steps on Apple support. I've downloaded the updater but the directions say that it is assumed the the ipod has the default setting "automatically import" activated. The install feature will not activate and I could find no instructions on what do if it was set on manual instead. Thank you so much fot your time and help.
Well Not sure what you mean by the last post, iTunes is ment to play songs and transfer to your iPod basic;y. In the latest version it will "Litly" convert some Video formats but not all. WMA and WMV are formats made by Microsoft for its Windows media player. Apple does not support this for various reasons, mainly being the format was developed and owned by microsoft, apple would have to pay Microsoft for the rights to have there program support this format formally in the form of royalties. Thats one reason iTunes will convert an UNPROTECTED wma file but not play it.

I upgraded to a new apple mac book pro and now when I try to download to adobe digital edition I receive this error:Error getting License. License Server Communication Problem: E_ACT_NOT_READY
What does that have to do with Digital Publishing Suite?
We’d love to help but if does have something to do with it, please give us
some details. -
I've upgraded my pc and now Im getting an error message when Im trying to sync my ipod saying I have two itunes libraries. The library thats there is only showing some songs and it's not uploading songs Ive just bought.
You seem to have tried everything, and you say it's syncing fine on your Dad's iMac, so I assume, you have also done a Disk Diagnostic from an earlier post by tt2 and conclude that your iPod Hardisk is good.
You don't have to use it as a heavy paperweight, the problem is only using your Windows 7 machine for syncing.
In your troubleshooting steps, did you try to use another High-Speed USB 2.0 port, USB controller resource are very scarce, so if you use other USB devices, while syncing your iPod, it may just freeze.
Windows have a bad reputation for device conflict, so better don't connect other USB devices, while syncing, better sync it while disconnected from Internet, stop antivirus just before you go to bed.
Have a nice day! -
I upgraded to Yosemite, and now Safari will not even load. It immediately goes to the "quit unexpectedly" error window, with the following information (which means nothing to me, of course). I've seen others posting issues like this, but have yet to see a solution. Apparently I cannot just reinstall Safari, so do I need to figure out how to uninstall the upgrade and try again? Is this worth it, or should I just uninstall and go back to my prior OS until Apple can provide a clean upgrade? Anyone know the answers?

I upgraded to Maverick and now Time Machine will not connect to the external hard drive to back up files. The external hard drive is a Western Digital "My Book Live" 2 TB. How do I solve problem?
I also had problem accessing my WD MyBookLive after upgrading to Maverick.
To resolve the problem, I used Connect To Server (Cmd K) to specify the IP address.
Then I enter a user id and password I created in the MyBookLive.
You can also verify that you have admin access to the MyBookLive using Safari or Chrome.
Just enter the MyBookLive IP address as the URL. -
I just upgraded to yellowstone and now my apple tv is telling me it is not compatible with HDCP. What can I do to resolve the problem?
Hi billzundel17,
If you are having an issue with your Apple TV telling you it can not play HDCP content, I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -

upgraded to Yosemite and now my CS5.1 won't start. Error install Java SE 6 runtime. How do I fix it?
Install the version of Java they want from here: Java for OS X 2014-001
See if CS 5.1 launches.
If not reinstall CS5.1 and any updates.

You mised the last part where none of the hotkeys are working, neither options nor "X" it goes ms 8.1 boot up and asks foe a bootable disc. I am about to pull the HD put it into a case attach it to another computer and delete the file

attempted a down load of an upgrade, it failed, error R6034 C runtime library incorrectly, now I cannot get access to my old iTunes
How do I recover and upgradeI have seen a number of conversations where you need to uninstall iTunes and various other pieces of software and re-install ... if Apple is such a great company, why don't they just fix their update process so we users don't have to mess around with this ... :-(
-
i upgraded to Lion and now itune upgrade will not install (error message appears)
iPhoto needs to be upgraded in order to work with Mavericks. You can do that via Software Update or the App Store.
The iWork apps are free with a new iOS device since 1 SEP 2013. They are free with a new Mac since 1 OCT 2013. They are also free with the upgrade to OS X Mavericks 10.9 if you had the previous version installed when you upgraded.
Upgrading iPhoto does not involve your iPhoto Library. Your photos will still be there. But it never hurts to make a backup first. -
I just finished my multi-device upgrade to iOS X. Now, Keynote freezes and is basically dysfunctional. Anyone else have this problem?
What did you upgrade? There is no such thing as iOS X, there is iOS and OS X. iOS is for iphones, ipads, and ipods and OS X is the Mac operating system.

I recently upgraded to ios7 and now my PC (Windows 7) is not recognizing my iphone. 1) I am getting an error message when itunes opens: "Itunes could not connect to the iphone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iphone before it can be used with itunes." How did it get locked and how do I unlock it without losing my data? What do they mean by passcode? I don't have a 4-number code to get into my iphone activated. In fact, I've never had a passcode.
2) I cannot download my photos from my iphone onto my computer because my computer doesn't recognize my iphone. In other words, my iphone does not show up on my computer (no iphone icon, no DCIM folder).
3) This is a separate issue but it is also very confusing: I went online to check my iCloud and I cannot see any data (icloud.com). But I know that I set up iCloud when I upgraded to ios7 and it backs up my data every night. What am I doing wrong, am I unable to see my data and photos?
Why is this happening? It was bad enough that when I upgraded to ios7, I lost my Notes - I have no idea why they didn't return. But now essentially my iphone is not recognized when connected to my computer and this is very frustrating. I have read numerous previous postings regarding downloading photos onto the PC and regarding this passcode error and cannot find a resolution, so I would appreciate any help.No problem!

Beachballing and "disk0s10: I/O errors" after upgrading to Snow Leopard
Here's my situation: I recently upgraded my iMac (2.93 Ghz Intel Core Duo, 4GB of ram, model id is 9.1) from Leopard to Snow Leopard. I did a basic install (not a clean install), the installation went smoothly, no errors were reported and in less than 40 minutes I was up running Snow Leopard.
But... immediately, on the first launch, after a couple of minutes my Mac started beachballing, leaving it completely unresponsive for like 5 minutes. Afterwards, the spinning pinwheel disappears, my Mac continues running normally, and I don't experience much issues. At first I thought it was a one time thing, probably saving some settings up after the first launch, but... it has been happening every time I start my computer! Every time, it starts up, all my startup programs launch, the desktop icons appear, and then suddenly after a couple of minutes it starts beachballing again.
I now start to suspect there's something wrong. I launch the Console and take a look at the logs. There at the exact same time the beachballing occurs, i find like 3 or 4 subsequent "disk0s10: I/O errors". Now I'm starting to think it's a hard disk issue, so I bring up Disk Utility and check the S.M.A.R.T., it says everything is OK. I verify the disk, and it says everything is OK. Now I don't know what to suspect.
Something tells me it's not the hard disk failing (maybe it's denial), because the problem started happening immediately after installing Snow Leopard. With Leopard I didn't have any problems at all. Also, once the beachballing stops, my computer runs smooth and fast, much faster than with Leopard; and it seems the beachballing and the errors don't happen again until the next restart (though I haven't yet used it for a long period of time since this problem happened like three days ago). Another thing is that I recently transfered like 30GBs worth of files and I didn't receive a single error. Everything seems (as for now) to run perfectly well after the initial beachballing occurs.
So, I'm now facing two options: (1) Make a clean install and see if the problem persists, or (2) Replace the hard disk.
As all of you know, both options are pretty time consuming and annoying, so I really want to troubleshoot everything I can to see if the problem has a simpler solution. What other things can I check? Have any of you had this problem before?
Sorry to make my post so long but I believe the more information you get first hand the better, right? Please, I will really appreciate any advice.OK. Here's what I found out.
When I boot in Safe Mode the problem does not occur (and I discovered why, I'll explain further along). Also, Disk Utility didn't report any errors in either the "Macintosh HD" volume nor the "WINDOWS" volume.
Looking closer at the console errors I noticed a couple of things. Here are the console errors:
6/19/11 4:03:02 AM kernel disk0s1: I/O error.
6/19/11 4:03:02 AM kernel
6/19/11 4:03:02 AM kernel
6/19/11 4:04:09 AM kernel disk0s1: I/O error.
6/19/11 4:04:09 AM kernel
6/19/11 4:04:09 AM kernel
6/19/11 4:05:17 AM kernel disk0s1: I/O error.
6/19/11 4:05:17 AM kernel
6/19/11 4:05:17 AM kernel
6/19/11 4:05:17 AM firmwaresyncd[63] /sbin/mount exited with 71
6/19/11 4:05:17 AM firmwaresyncd[63] Command /sbin/mount output: mount_msdos: /dev/disk0s1 on /Volumes/firmwaresyncd.QsGgXz: Input/output error
First of all, the error is reported on disk0s1. So I ran diskutil list on Terminal to check which drive was this. These are the drives and partitions that were listed:
/dev/disk0
#: TYPE NAME SIZE IDENTIFIER
0: GUID_partition_scheme *640.1 GB disk0
1: EFI 209.7 MB disk0s1
2: Apple_HFS Macintosh HD 605.5 GB disk0s2
3: Microsoft Basic Data WINDOWS 34.3 GB disk0s3
As you can see, disk0s1 is the EFI System Partition (ESP) in my Mac. After a little research I found out that this partition is used as a stage for handling firmware updates. I also found out that this partition is not really needed to run Mac OS X. This explains the subsequent appearance of the firmwaresyncd command which, according to the Apple's developer manuals, runs at boot time to synchronize the firmware files from the root filesystem to the EFI System Partition (ESP). Also, it does not run when the system is performing a Safe Boot.
Now this explains why the problem only happens after I boot and never happens again until I reboot. It also explains why it doesn't happen when I run in Safe Mode.
Therefore, the problem I'm experiencing is basically the following:
At boot time the firmwaresyncd command tries to access the EFI partition to synchronize the firmware files from the root filesystem to the EFI System Partition.
It seems that the EFI partition at disk0s1 is either corrupted or inaccesible so the firmwaresyncd command can't access the partition and after a couple of tries throws the input / output error.
Now the next thing I did was to run Single User Mode and run fsck_msdos /dev/disk0s1 to see if I could repair this partition. Unfortunately, I got the following error:
:/ root# fsck_msdos /dev/disk0s1
** /dev/disk0s1

** Phase 2 - Checking Directories
** Phase 3 - Checking for Orphan Clusters

So that's what I've found out for now.
What do you think I should do now? Should I try to erase and re-partition the disk to see if it solves the issue? Could these errors suggest the disk is about to fail?
I could technically keep using the Mac like this since the EFI partition isn't strictly needed to run Mac OS X and this problem only happens once at boot time (and I do keep a Time Machine backup). But should I?
Any thoughts?
