Error ORA-03113 when execute procedure via OEM

Hi All,
I got error messages
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
when execute procedure via Oracle Enterprise Manager
Who do you know what 's the problem and how can I resolves ?
Thanks,
Mcka

Solution Description:
=====================
The ORA-3113 error is a general error reported by Oracle client tools,
which signifies that they cannot communicate with the oracle shadow
process. As it is such a general error more information must be collected
to help determine what has happened.
This short article describes what information to collect for an
ORA-3113 error when the Oracle server is on a Unix platform.
General Issues:
===============
1) Is it only one tool that encounters the error or
do you get an ORA-3113 from any tool doing a similar operation?
If the problem reproduces in SQL*Plus, use this in all tests
below.
2) Check if the problem is just restricted to:
[ ] One particular UNIX user,
[ ] Any UNIX user
or [ ] Any UNIX user EXCEPT as the Oracle user.
3) Check if the problem is just restricted to:
[ ] One particular ORACLE logon
or [ ] Any ORACLE logon that has access to the
relevant tables.
4) If you have a client-server configuration does this occur from:
[ ] Any client
[ ] Just one particular client
or [ ] Just one group of clients ?
If so what do these clients have in common ?
Eg: Software release .
5) Do you have a second server or database version where the
same operation works correctly?

  • Error: ORA-03113 while executing complex java code from Oracle PL/SQL

    Hi,
I am trying to execute a complex java code from Oracle PL/SQL. The classes were resolved successfully. But in the middle of execution, I am getting the following error:
    ERROR:
    ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE
    begin
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
    Process ID: 13685
Session ID: 21 Serial number: 20
Is there a way to debug the Java classes loaded into oracle? Or is there any utility to find out why the connection was lost?
    Regards,
    Saravana

    Hi Saravana:
You could use simply System.out.println(..) at your Java code and see the output at the .trc files generated for your Oracle session.
Or better than this adding Java Util Logging messages at your code, to see how to use JUL API at the OJVM please see this blog post [Using JUL API inside the OJVM|http://marceloochoa.blogspot.com/2007/11/getting-logging-entering-exiting-and.html].
    Best regards, Marcelo.
PD: ora-0600 generally are associated with RDBMS bugs, but these bugs can be bypassed by replacing the code which throws the exception by other with a workaround.

  • Error not getting while executing procedure via db link

    Hi,
I am executing a database procedure remotely via database link from SQL prompt (SQL > EXECUTE REPLICATE_DATA@DBLK_SALE), and while getting any connectivity issue system is not giving any error (it is just showing as not responding)..
if I am executing the same procedure directly in the remote database then it is giving error as
ORA-02055: distributed update operation failed; rollback required
ORA-02068: following severe error from DBLK_SALE
    ORA-03135: connection lost contact
Can someone can help me on this
    Regards

    Dear 823755,
You can think the Database link as a new sqlplus session to the distributed database. You should have defined a user to connect to that remote database and the user has to have the necessary privileges to revoke the relevant object. Does it have that privilege? Can you even connect to the remote database instance?
    SQL> SELECT * FROM DUAL@DBLK_SALE;Regards.

  • Error ORA-03113 while install Oracle9i r2 on redhat Advance serer

    Hello All:
Can anyone inform me how to correct the error ORA-03113 when I install oracle 9i on RedHat Advance Server 2.1
This error has something to do with setting my CLASSPATH I think.
    Thank YOU
    Ezra Taylor

    Hi,
You don't mention where exactly you were receiving this error but I was receiving this error when doing the database creation via DBCA. I was able to get around this by altering the 'shmmax' parameter. I suspect that the classpath is not the issue in this case, infact I think it should be unset (as well as other things such as JAVA_HOME).
I initially tried the 100Mb specified at this site: http://www.e-gineer.com/instructions/install-oracle9i-on-linux.phtml
However this wasn't enough so I went for the 'loony' option and set it to its maximum value using sysctl as root (see below):
    sysctl -w kernel.shmmax=4294967295
Obviously you probably don't want to leave it at this size and will want to find the appropriate value. (Oracle reccomends half of physical memory - I haven't tried this yet).
    HTH,
    Gareth.

    Hi,
This is usually a SERVER SIDE DATABASE PROBLEM or SQLNET LISTENER (server side) PROBLEM.  The client side should initially be ignored and instead the server should be investigated. In rare cases, this can be caused by client
side memory or other resource problem, or a DLL version mismatch, but this is
    unlikely.
Enlist the assistance of your DBA.  Then reproduce the ORA-3113 error on your
client application.  Ask your DBA to look at the database side Alert.log and
trace files and look for ANY activity.  Any activity that coincides with your
    ORA-3113 will be a clue.

    Thanks for your reply.
But the funny thing on this compatibility issues is, that this configuration worked before. The only thing we did, was to setup the client-PC on a new hardware with also a new operating system (upgrading from Solaris 5.8 to 5.10). And from that time we encountered this problem.
Are there any OS-related problems known or better to say: is (was) ORACLE 7.1.3 supported on Solaris 5.10 ? Should we look for any patches which might help us ?

AJC MAILTRIGGER STH Error while trying to retrieve text for error ORA-03113 (DBD ERROR: OCIStmtExecute)

An ORA-03113 error would mean that the connection to the database no longer exists so any attempt to get the error message from the the database would result in an error. I think the real issue might be why was the session interrupted.
    03113, 00000, "end-of-file on communication channel"
Depending on the front-end tool a pointer error or failure to properly terminate a string could result in corrupting the message to Oracle.
There have been numerous bugs over the years that have resulted in this error message being returned. I notice that the Oracle version, platform, edition, and client tool set are not mentioned in the post. All this would potentially be important information for someone to recognize what might be the problem.
I would look very closely at the code " at hcommon.pm line 1277 "

    8.1.6
    8.1.7
    9.0.1
    9.2.0

however if the query returns only a few rows, i won't raise such error,
however, when i use sqlplus connect to that remote server, it won't raise such error,
what's the reason is, can any one tell me how to tackle this problem if using the tool toad. thanks/

    hi my oracle vsersion is:

once i query a table, if the result returned more than 30 rows, then it will raise that error, if query returns less than 30 rows, it's ok.

    Dear
I've had my question I can make a connection to the 11g db with release 8.0.6.0.0 which it's coming with 6i package and it's old version also
and also my version working propaly with db 10g r2
for that is not true that Oracle does not grant that old oracle clients work with current release.Actually you are wrong.
With each new version Oracle often introduces new features and syntax to the database.
Older version of the client software do not know or understand the new features/syntax, so if you try to use them they will error.
If you only use features and syntax that was available on the database at the time the client software was written, it may work ok for that limited feature set, but also the way oracle makes connections to the database and the underlying communication between client and database will vary slightly as versions move on. So I woulc certainly expect I could make a connection from a 9i or 10g client to an 11g database as that's just a couple of versions old, though I would be missing the ability to use new 11g functionality. However, using something as old as a version 3 client on an 10g or 11g database, I would be surprised if it even managed to connect.
I think on metalink (oracle support or whatever they call it now), you can find information about the compatibility of the different versions, but the best practice is to use the latest version of the client that matches the database. The latest clients can typically connect to older versions of the database as they of often 'backwardly compatible' though even that has it's limitations.
So Oracle does not guarantee that old clients will work with current/future releases of the database... how could they? they don't know what the future versions will contain.
