Error: Out Of Paper

HP 5510 All-in-One, Windows 7 64-bit, Error: "Out of Paper".
When trying to print with the paper tray full, I continuously get the error message "Out of Paper".
Is there a fix or do I need to just replace the printer?

Hi,
You might be getting the message because of a "paper jam" or even "false paper jam" .  The steps to hopefully help clear the message would be following the steps to clear a paper jam in this document Paper Jam.  It may even be the power reset in solution 4 that eventually clears it.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Premium won't print cardstock - error message of "out of paper" appears

My printer won't print cardstock, the error message says "out of Paper".  I have tried 3 different types of cardstock and it won't accept any of them.  It will print on plain paper.  Is this machine defective?  HELP...URGENT
I must be able to print cardstock.  The computer was just set up today...it is brand new and purchased directly from HP.

After trying a lot of different things, for some God-only-knows reason, this is the trick that worked for me. This is really more of a hack than a true fix, but I'm not picky when it's 2 AM and I don't have any other options:
    (1) In the paper tray, alternate one sheet of the cardstock paper with one sheet regular plain paper. Make sure the tray is full, but not over-full. (This HP help article says not to do that but... whatever.)
    (2) In the Print dialogue box (however you can get to it) select the "Plain Paper" preset (not "thick paper" or "cardstock"). I had it on "Best" as you can see it the screen shot, but I don't think this is important.
    (3) I only had a single-page document, which I needed to print 30 copies of, so I inserted a blank page as a second page in the document file (a pdf).
    (4) I then made sure "Collate" was selected in my print settings.
If you have a multi-page document, maybe you will need to insert a blank page every other page... which sounds like a pain, and I feel for you.
Note: You'll need to monitor the printing closely - if ever the printer pulls two pages through instead of one, you'll need to pull the paper tray out and add a piece of paper so it's alternating correctly.
With this, I was able to print multiple copies without ever stopping. After a full day of fighting with the printer (which may or may not have included sacrifices of limbs under a full moon to the printer gods... just kidding) this was like magic.
Hope this works for you - or other people who read this thread. This is a really frustrating situation.
PS. Before I did this, I also did a full reset of the printer, which included:
    1. Turning off the printer and unplugging it for a full minute
    2. Printing 100 blank pages
I have no idea if this helps, but if this hack isn't working for you, this "reset" is worth a try.

  • HP 4215 all in one 'printer out of paper' error message

I cannot clear out a 'printer out of paper' error message that is prohibiting me from printing further documents.  Paper is in holder accurately, I've even copied to ensure it is feeding.
My 'wonderful' son had a 20+ document sitting in the queue that I am sure triggered this error.  I've got the queue cleared but still cannot clear the error.
    Please help!!??!!

I'm having the same problem...but hey, isn't it wonderful how quickly HP support jumps on these issues and helps us fix them????????

  • Photosmart 8050 and 'Out of Paper' Error

I own a Photosmart 8050 photo printer.  I have had it for a little while now and i only print on it every so often when I need to print pictures or other color documents.  I use my laser jet printer for printing most of my documents.  I've had no problems with the print quality or the ink cartridges at all, but all of a sudden it wont take in any paper.  I hear the rollers spinning, and if I push the piece of paper along to "help" it, the paper feeds in.  However, with a single piece or 25 or 50, the printer just refuses to pull in any paper.  I have examined it closely and there is no obstruction of any kind.  No jammed paper, no foriegn objects, no excessive dust or any dried up or spilled ink, yet the paper refuses to feed into the printer on its own.  When this happens, the printer inaccurately displays "Out of paper".  When I try to "help" feed the paper into the printer, it sends the page halfway out, then displays a paper jam error, at which point I have to press the paper feed button to clear (is it so hard for the printer to do that itself?).
So, I ask, is there an easy fix for this problem?  Is there a recall or otherwise warranty covered repair for this problem?
If not, I know the warranty is well over, however I will still have to go out and purchase a new printer to replace this one, and you can be sure it wont be an HP.  I am also aware that there is a repair/cleaning kit made for this very issue, like it was some kind of widespread problem that HP just wanted to make money off of instead of fixing for their customers.  To me, to spend that kind of money to repair something I know will just break again is just more money than it is worth.

I would second that! Exactly same problem and i have wasted hours on this stupid issue. Seems as if some kind of sensor does not work - am scratching my head now - what a waste of money and time (sigh). HP folks, if you see this, please help for at least your namesake if not customer service (my warranty period has expired too).
And other folks looking for HP Photosmart 8050 - its a nice printer while it works, but don't go for it, its a trouble in slightly longer term.

  • Deskjet 3650 Paper Jam or Out of Paper error messages but neither is the case

I've tried printing from both a computer running Windows 7 and an old computer running XP, but neither seems to work.  Less than 24 hours ago, I printed from the XP just fine.  Now when I try to print from either computer, I either get a Paper Jam or Out of Paper error message.  So far I've tried:
    - Cleaning the rollers and letting them dry
    - Reinstalling printer drivers
    - Resetting printer
    - Restarting Printer Spooler in Windows
    - Checking for Paper Jam
    - Inserting new ink cartridges
    - Ensured that in printer settings, paper type is set to normal paper
    - Probably a few other things, but at this point I'm a bit frustrated, so I've probably forgotten exactly what
Each time I try to print, the printer fires up, the cartridges move back and forth, the rollers try to pick up the paper, but nothing happens and I get an error message.  I can move the rollers manually, so they're not stuck.
    Any other kind of advice?

    Hi...
I believe you already done all the TS and its a hardware problem..

  • HP Envy 4500 "Out of Paper" error

My wireless HP Envy 4500 says "Out of Paper" when I try to print from my HP Pavilion.  The printer does work (also wireless) from a Dell laptop and if I use the Copy function.
Any ideas why the printer stopped working from the Pavilion only?

    Hi,
As the issue only appear from a specific computer, it is more likely related to a wrong print settings of the driver.
Follow Solution Five below and check if that may help:

If the same persists also run the HP Print and Scan doctor by selecting Fix Printing and check if that may help:

If there is still no difference, have you tried using another application to print? e.g Wordpad, can you see the same results from any application?

  • Laser Jet Pro MFP M476nw printing lines of nonsense until it runs out of paper

I have a Color LaserJet Pro MFP M476nw, and it has begun printing out pages of nonsense symbols until it runs out of paper.  This is particularly bad when I print from a website, sometimes from emails, etc., and it is wasting tons of paper.  I am extremely dissatisifed with this printer, and it is not even a year old yet.  I have tried turning it off and then restarting it, but the problem comes back.  Is this normal for this particular all-in-one?  I bought it instead of a Brother, which I had last, and expected better for my money.

If the output is repeatable (i.e. exactly the same when reprinting the same document, using the same driver, to the same device), then it is likely that it is caused by a driver (or driver settings) fault.
There may be a more up-to-date driver available, or (depending on the printer model) you may perhaps be able to switch to a driver using a different Page Description Language (i.e. PCL5 or PostScript or PCL6 (the 'marketting' name for the PCL XL PDL), depending on which you are currently using).
If the error(s) is/are random, they are much more likely to be the result of intermittent corruptions of the generated print stream between the workstation and the device (check cables, ports, switches, etc.); it could also possibly be an intermittent problem with the printer itself.

  • HP 720c in windows 7 64bit "out of paper"

Added the driver for the 720 c I found on this site. Windows 7 shows the printer and says it is working properly. It is connected to the PC via a parallel port card in a pci-e slot. Shows on port LPT1 and no conflicts are seen. When  I print to this printer the document shows in the queue but does not print out and after about 2 mins the queue shows "out of paper". I have also tried it as LPT2: with the same results. When I put the printer back on the XP machine it prints fine. Why do I get the "out of paper" error in windows 7 when it is full of paper?

    Hello Talyn16,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I understand your concerns with your Deskjet 720C. Make sure this printer is plugged into a direct wall, not a surge protector.
We want to fix the "Out Of Paper" error message first before we move on. Please follow this HP document on 'Out of Paper' Error Message Displays on the Computer, and the Printer Does Not Pick Up or Feed Pape...

  • Photosmart 7160 Duplex Printing Out of Paper Side 2 Intermittent Windows 7 USB

The printer works fine on XP but 75 percent of the time it fails on Windows 7. I have a removable drive so I can switch back and forth between XP and Windows 7. Symptom: Let's say I want to print 10 documents. Each document is 1 1/2 pages long. I command it to print 10, duplex, fast draft, copies. Usually the first document will print double sided. The second document will fail to reverse the paper after printing the first side. The paper will continue forward to the end of the output tray. Since the paper did not reverse and go into the flip over device, I now get and Out of Paper error and must manually hit the OK button on the printer. It then feeds the next (!) sheet of paper from the input tray. So it takes me 10 minutes to print the 10 documents with only 2 or 3 of them actually being double sided. It would normally take less than 2 minutes for 10 duplex sheets at draft quality. When I boot from my XP drive everything works fine. It seems like the motor that reverses the paper never actually goes into reverse. I have removed the flip over device and cleaned everything in sight including the contacts. There are about 30 drivers listed in Properties. The first one says HPD7100T.GPD 6.10.2009 .

    AND forgot to say,
there is NO OPTION to SET MANAUL DULPEX (in win 7 drivers)
    I also readed your

    but no help with that

  • CS5 will not print on new Epson 3880, message paper out or paper not loaded correctly

CS5 will not print on new Epson 3880, message paper out or paper not loaded correctly

In the Print dialog box, click Print Settings and verify the Paper Size you chose. This is important because the 3880 has three paper feeds (auto sheet feeder, rear manual feed, front manual feed). And for each major paper size you have to choose not only the size but also the correct feed. For example, if you want US Letter, choose US Letter, notice that this menu expands to five more US Letter paper size options, and choose the specific US Letter paper feed you want.
If there is a mismatch between the paper size + feed combination you picked and the feed where the paper actually is, you can get the error that you're seeing. Because the Epson printer driver will look for the paper in a feed where there isn't any paper.
So if you've added US Letter paper to the automatic paper tray, in Paper Size double-check that you chose the US Letter submenu command that says just US Letter, not one of the other options like US Letter (Manual - Front).

  • HP PSC 2175 spits out blank paper while I print.

I have Dell GX520 Desktop PC with Windows XP service pack 3 and HP PSC 2175 all-in-one printer. Since few days I m having trouble printing with my printer. When I try to print it simply picks up the paper scans it and spits out  blank paper instead of printing it. There is no any error message or flashing light or any thing in the printer.
But still I can make copy or print the test page from it. The only thing is I can't print any document from WordPad or NotePad or through Adobe Reader. I don't have Office on my PC.
I have tried every thing that I can do. Uninstall the driver and reinstalled  it  downloading from HP website, updated the drivers manually, replaced new cartridges and what not. But I still have the problem. It would be so helpful if you have any solution to this problem.

    I'm having the same problem....
The computer is a hp pavilion.
When trying to print, It loads the paper, It checks the paper position, then it just ejects the paper.
I opened the print job que and watched it.
When the print job ques up, it shows the job...then deletes the job before printing it.
It has been working fine up until a few days ago.
    Any help would be appreciated.

  • My computer says i am out of paper when i am not

my computer shows its out of paper, when its not

    Unie,
If your Printer indicates the error, then what you do depends on your printer's model.
You can look up the troubleshooting tips for your printer:
    Open  HP Drivers & Downloads
    Enter your Printer Model information
Select your Printer from the “Results” list
Open tab "Troubleshooting" > Select Solve a problem > Jam and Feed Problems >
Select An 'Out of Paper' Message Displays ...
The exact wording may vary.  The point is to find the document that most closely matches your situation.
    Click the Kudos Star!
It is a nice way to say “Thank You” for the help.
Although I strive to reflect HP's best practices, I do not work for HP.
