Error PENDING state, err(0) installing clusterware 10.2.0.4

Hi,
I'm installing oracle clusterware 10.2.0.4 in Windows server 2008, when finish setting up proccess, It run some configuration, the first config failed(Oracle Clusterware Configuration Assistant).
the error is :
Step 5: Starting up CRS stack on all nodes
sdf01 service OracleCSService in improper PENDING state, err(0)
sdf02 service OracleCSService in improper PENDING state, err(0)
we can not use the 11g version because the ERP is not yet certified for this release.
the servers 2008 are virtual machine built on vmware.
the shared storage is external via SAN
My configuration is :
1. Clusterware 10.2.0.4
2. 2 nodes windows 2008R2 x 64
3. shared storage is raw partitions from SAN :

Did you do the Super Duper clone before you tried to reinstall the OS? If so, the original install disc is likely earlier than 10.4.11, and that may be why you are getting the message.
When trying to reinstall the OS, did you select the "Archive and Install" option? If not, you might try that. Here's a link that might help:

Error installing clusterware 10gR2 with OCFS2 Storage

When i ran OUI to install clusterware, i get this error when i specified storage location to OCR as '/dev/sda4' -> The location /dev/sda4, entered for the Oracle Cluster Registry (OCR) is not shared across all the nodes in the cluster. Specify a shared raw partition or cluster file system file that is visible by the same name on all nodes of the cluster."

Error while installing Clusterware for RAC Oracle 10gR2?

I am installing clusterware 10.2.0.1 on Windows XP Service Pack 3.While installing i got the below errors.

Actual Result: 5.1

Problem: Oracle Database 10g is not certified on the current operating system.
Recommendation: Make sure you are installing the software on the correct platform.

Which edition of Windows XP are you running? Home edition is not supported for Oracle products.

Error when install clusterware

Dear gurus,
i try to install RAC server using nfs server. i'm using 3 servers, 2 nodes and 1 nfs. OS using RHEL 4.5. and Oracle Server 10.2.0.1 patch set 10.2.0.3.
i gave the two nodes names deployment and deployment2. for nfs i gave it name nfs.
i created two directories on nfs /share1 and /share2 on nfs. then i mounted both directories into those 2 nodes as /racsoft for /share1 and /racdata for /share2.
i installed the clusterware first, but i got error when Configuration Assistants, these are error messages from installActions.log :

I have the same error while installing clusterware for 11g RAC. The result of cluster verification utilty (runcluvfy) is ok except one warning..
WARNING
"Could not find a suitable set of interfaces for VIPs"
But if I am continuing with the clusterware installation,
"Oracle notification server configuration assistant failed message" is comming..
Please provide solution if you have solved the same issue...

Pre-check for cluster services setup was unsuccessful on all the nodes. I see some failed check but sometimes they are optional :D

Error comes while running runInstaller to install clusterware

I am installing clusterware 10gr2 on Oracle Enterprise Linux.
After complete all the task when i run Installer it ends up with the following message/error:

I have to install clusterware on oracle enterprise linux 4.
have installed the following rpms

but when i install
rpm -Uvh xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.2-1.EL.13.6.i386.rpm \
it says lixX11.so.6 and libXext.so.6 is needed. I cant find these rpms in installation disk...
I think if i install rpm -Uvh xorg-x11-deprecated-libs-6.8.2-1.EL.13.6.i386.rpm setup will run to install clusterware...

Databases in Recovery Pending state

Dear all,
Need your expertise to understand bit more.
Yesterday i came across databases in "Recovery Pending" state problem.
Followed too many recommendations form Google but to no avail.

But none of them could fixed my problem.
What i did:
I installed 2008 r2 on a machine (DEV) which already had 2008; yea instance name was different.
Had to restart the server so i did (yea, i gave all developers enough time but due to some reasons databases were in recovery pending mode).
After restart, some databases (not all) were in recovery pending state. Above links provided enough stuff to recover them but didnt work. For instance after setting database in Emergency mode, it stayed there for ages telling something like "Database is
being recovered, wait until recovery is finished".
How i fixed it:
I attached them onto the newly created 2008 r2 instance. Made them offline (on old instance) in case there is any access conflict. Didnt get any error, like files are in use or something, while attaching them (which raised an eyebrow).
Couple of things i noticed after new instance's installation:
While trying to reattach database on same old instance, I wasn't able to see the .mdf and .ldf files form there respective drives. But i was able to see from the new instance.
WHY?
Both sql server services (old and new) were using same service account. When i gave service account enough ntfs permissions on the drive i was able to see all .mdf and .ldf files.
Questions are:
1) Why it wasnt the case before? Important to note here: service accounts were local admins on the server.
(I think i am answering myself here...would love to get more insight on it).
2) Is it normal that i just have 2008r2 tools in Start>>Program. e.g. there is just 2008 r2 management studio not 2008 one etc.
Dont want to let this happen in production environment (i will have backups though), so is there any approach you guys are using to avoid it.
I hope i made myself clear here, or let me know.

If you dont need your log file, you can:
Detach your database
Move the log file to other place
Attach back the database and from the file list, remove the ldf
SQL server will create a new log file and the database will be online again.

Frustrated. problem installing clusterware. no response from metalink

i've asked metalink and they haven't replied. i'm hoping that the otn community can help.
can't get vipca to run manually, post failure to run thru OUI when installing clusterware. comes back with an Exception Error, yet all the cluster readiness tests were reported successfully. i have included my tar here but have masked the oracle engineer's name as 'm not interested in shaming him, i just want to fix my system. many thanks in advance, John.

i am upto section 4 Installing Oracle Clusterware on Windows-Based Systems.
this is where i did as stated, Using Oracle Universal Installer to Install Oracle Clusterware on Windows
then at step 9, When you click Finish, the OUI installs the OCFS and Oracle Clusterware software on the local node and
validates the installation again. The OUI will also create any required OCFS
file systems. After validating the installation, the OUI completes the Oracle
Clusterware software installation and configuration on the remote nodes.

also noted that even after the 1st attempt to install clusterware the path is as follows :

not sure when there is no change to the path as a result of the oracle install, as there is a JRE and jlib folder under the oracle home : C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\crs\jlib

1st question is you have contradictory statements in your tar. 1) you say no vendor clusterware and the you say you have windows 2003 clusterware installed and configured.
Why are you installing both?
Although I don;t think that is the problem here, I wonder why anyone would want to run 2 independent cluster software on same servers.
Now the output from the installer has whdc-wms-srv-2-vip output from cluvfy shows suitable interface as whdc-wms-srv-1 HEARTBEAT 10.10.10.11:10.10.10.10

TS3212 I cannot get the new iTunes to start in Windows Vista. I get an error that states "This application has failed to start because MSVCR80.dll was not found". Reinstalling does not help.

How to install clusterware on windows 2008 R2 64bit

Hello all,
As you know at otn there is only 10.2.0.4 clusterware setup for windows2008.
I want to install oracle clusterware on 2008R2. I know that there is a patchset 10.2.0.5 for windows 2008R2.
But before using it I must have alredy binary setup for oracle. (I assume)
So when I trying to setup clusterware on 2008R2 I got error
OUI-35073: Exception occured while starting service in the remote nodes. Could not start the service 'OracleClusterVolumeService' in the remote cluster
So I want to know , Is there any way to apply patch to setup files ? So I can install clusterware.
Or how can I install clusterware on 2008R2

Do not install Oracle Database/Clusterware 10g Release 2 on Windows Server 2008, Server 2008 R2, 7 or Vista using the 10.2.0.1 version. You must use the 10.2.0.4 (64-bit) x64 version specifically created for these operating systems. After installation, for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, patchset 10.2.0.5 or higher must be applied.

When i clicked on retry i get following additions in log
(DB) ERROR: db_connect rc = 256
(DB) ERROR: DbSlErrorMsg rc = 29
while debugging found that the Table from which it wants to create view does not exsist in database.
Can someone help me with this. I know its common error but most of the earlier threads are with Oracle database has someone faced this issue with Sql Server?

Hi,
This is not a comman error.Sometimes you have to install from the scrach if this error comes.Here the error comes in the last step in sapview creation phage but actual error may happen before this at some step between 1to 99.
Now do below things
First check that your database is up and running.
Then repeat the installation.
If error comes then open the sapinst.log and check what are the steps where the error comes.

DML ERROR LOGGING STATEMENT FAILS FOR MULTITABLE INSERT

When I use a simple expression in my dml error logging statement for a multitable insert I get 'end of file on communication channel' on the compile(in all guis tested). It works fine without the simple expression for the multitable insert. The simple expression works ok with a single table insert.
example:
this works ok for single table insert and blows up on multitable inserts:
LOG ERRORS INTO ERR$_INVOICE (TO_CHAR(SYSDATE,'YYYYMMDD HH:MI:SS')) REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;
this works ok for both:
LOG ERRORS INTO ERR$_CINVOICE REJECT LIMIT UNLIMITED;
any ideas?

No version number, no DDl, and no DML. No help is possible.

I, for example, have no idea what you intend with the statement multitable insert. Is this a reference to INSERT ALL or INSERT FIRST or some other syntax?

Itunes will not open and error msg states invalid characters

Itunes will not open nor can I unistall and re download the software. error message states "the Program files contain an invalid character"
All other programs, including quicktime run fine. Please advise.

A bit odd. That's usually an installation error. So if it is going off when you try to launch iTunes, it must be happening when the iTunes Setup Assistant runs (that involves running an installer routine).
What is the drive letter of the drive on which you have the iTunes Program files installed? If it's a high letter (higher than C: ), has the drive letter of that drive changed recently?
(Checking on this because a drive letter change out from under the program files can confuse the registry, and produce similar messages.)
