Error prevents Windows installation session3 initialization failed

Hello. I have done a search and have not seen a topic related to this. I have a Mac Book Pro with 2G RAM... and have partitioned my drive to allow 32GB for Windows. As soon as it goes through what seems to be an install process...it goes to launch windows and stops... and I get this message. I have connected a keyboard and mouse, disconnected it, tried adding more space... I cannot execute the instructions to restart and press F8... ANY suggestions would be a giant help.

Make that Session3.. not session2... my bad. apologies for the error. I did do some research online and some folks have reported this and solved it saying their drive was faulty. Is it possible to get an external drive and use that for the install? everything else I install with my drive has been fine.

Repair youe Apple Software Update.
Go to START/ALL PROGRAMS/Apple Software Update. If it offers you a newer version of Apple Software Update, do it but Deselect any other software offered at the same time. Once done, try another iTunes install.
If you don't find ASU in All Programs, go to Control Panel, Add & Remove Programs.

I am getting the same message when I try to install the latest version of iTunes, I am running on Windows Vista Home Premium. I have tried so many different things to try to correct this and have now completly unistalled it from my laptop..... Now I have no iTunes what-so-ever on it and still can't install it. I found an older versin of iTunes and it installed without any problems, but I can't access it because my library was created on a newer version! Talk about frustrated..... WE NEED HELP!!!!!

Hi Abdallah,
According to your description, could you please post the summary and detail logs for further analysis? By default, the logs can be found in: C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\100\Setup Bootstrap\Log.
Usually, the error occurs when the Windows Installer Service is not running or the Windows Installer registry settings are corrupted. I recommend you reset the Windows Installer Service settings in the registry and restart the Windows Installer Service,
then reinstall SQL Server 2008 R2. For more details, please review this similar

Error 1601 Windows Installer error

Hi, I was trying to update my Adobe Reader and I got error 1601
It said that the Windows Installer Service could not be accessed, and that this can occur if the Windows Installer is not properly installed.
I tried to go get windows installer "fixed" but when I click anything it always seems to be a program that is trying to get me to buy something.
How do I get Windows Installer working properly? Then once I do that, should I re-upload Adobe Reader entirely?

And "that program that wants me to buy something" being? Sounds like you have malware on your system and it's blocking all your installs.

Am trying to register my new iPhone 3Gs and downloaded the iTunes Windows Installer 64bit and it did not finish executing as it comes up with error saying there is a problem with the Windows Installer. does anyone know how to overcome this issue?

Unfortunately, this sort of trouble has gotten more complicated to deal with ever since Microsoft pulled the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from their Download Center on June 25. First we have to find a copy of the utility.
Let's try Googling. (Best not to use Bing, I think.) Look for a working download site for at least version 3.0 of the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (The results from mydigitallife and Major Geeks are worth checking.)
After downloading the utility installer file (msicuu2.exe), scan the file for malware, just in case. (I use the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware to do single-file scans for that.)
If the file is clean, to install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you've downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Apple Software Update entries and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC, and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

I am getting exact same error.
We are using Tivoli with BRTOOLS and no RMAN at all..not sure why at the end of Backup its executing "'SHELL=/bin/sh /oracle/QAS/102_64/bin/rman nocatalog'" command.

Error on Windows Installation

Help! I am attempting to install the content server on a Windows 2000 desktop machine. I have 1G RAM with a 3G CPU. I am running an Apache 2.2.4 web server and an Oracle 10.2 DB. The installation seems to crank along OK and them at some random place or another I get

The error log file is not very useful (to me, anyway).
The error does not always occur at the same location in the installation, which I find suspicious. In this case, it occurred at statement 48: Creating database tables from 'database/oracle/worklfow.sql'
Just for kicks, I did execute that sql and verified it was not malformed or anything and that the user and connection information I gave the installer was valid.
Has anyone else seen anything like this or does anyone have any ideas as to what could be happening with my installation? I do have administrative privileges on the workstation, and I have verified that there is plenty of space left on the hard drive. I feel it must have something to do with it being a Windows installation...
(This is an installation of 10g rel3, BTW)

That did it! I had tried that in the past and was unable to get the default JDK to update. I changed the Windows environment variable JAVA_HOME to a different JDK. I then edited UCM/ContentServer/resource/launcher-local.cfg to change DEFAULT_JDK_DIR to $JAVA_HOME.
When prompted for Java virtual machine during installation I selected "Specify a custom Java virtual machine". Then when prompted for path, it did not matter what I entered, it took the value that I had set for DEFAULT_JDK_DIR (in this case, C:\jdk1.4.2_06).
And Eureka! The installation completed successfully.

Keep getting error message: Windows installer is not correctly installed

Hello all..
After trying to install some software or getting the thinkvantage update I keep getting this error message.
"The Windows Installer service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running in safe mode, or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance."
So I've restarted and made sure I was in normal mode. Didn't help. Does anyone have any idea before I put this thing into the shop?? LOL

trying to upgrade my ITunes for my Iphone and cannot access content. During upgrade getting message "windows installer did not finish as expected..contact vendor"

Perhaps let's first try updating your Apple Software Update.
Launch Apple Software Update ("Start > All Programs > Apple Software Update"). Does it launch and offer you a newer version of Apple Software Update? If so, choose to install just that update to Apple Software Update. (Deselect any other software offered at the same time.)
If the ASU update goes through okay, try another iTunes install. Does it go through without the errors this time?

Windows Installer starts (and fails) upon Vista starting - Acrobat 7.0.9

Hello all,
For some reason, the past couple of days, upon starting Vista Ultimate (no SP1
yet) something is causing Windows Installer to fire up and try to install Acrobat
7.0.9 - which of course was installed/updated months ago.
This coincided with updating Reader to the newest version. Now Reader is updated
and works, but Acrobat Pro doesn't work.
Any ideas?

Yeah AA7 worked perfectly on Vista until the AR8 update.
I mostly love Adobe products, and use them all every day (Creative Suite CS2)
etc.... but honestly this is the very same sort of scenario that baffles me about
Adobe:
Installing Premiere Elements 4 completely breaks Bridge, and Adobe's own knowledge
base repair is utterly useless. I understand that CS2 and AA7 are not certified
in Vista - but there is absolutely NO excuse for one Adobe product to completely
break one of their own products, and then compound that by 1. Knowing about it,
and 2. Not offering a feasible solution (other than to spend thousands upgrading
your Adobe products.)
I guess the fact that updating free AR8 has broken their own $350 AA7 is typical
and expected. Shameful.
