Error printing large photo to HP Officejet K8600 when using PSE7

I am running PSE7 on a Toshiba laptop using XP home SP3.  I have 1.5 gb of memory.  I have a large color photo scanned in that is 14x10.  I tried printing it out using MS Office Picture manager and HP photo essentials.  Neither program would allow for the custom size photo on the 13x19 paper that I have.  The best they could do was make the photo larger to fit the paper which made the picture slightly fuzzy.  So I purchased PSE7 thinking that this good product would allow custom print sizes.
The page setup and print commands seem to do everything I want.  The print screen shows how the picture should look centered on the larger paper. When I send it to print with the print spooler on the 277 mb photo goes completely to the spooler without going to the printer.  After waiting a short while it sends a second copy of the photo to the print spooler and even though the print documents window only shows one document it shows 2/1 in the page column and robs another 277 mb of memory.  This continues indefinitely without ever printing.  I stop it when it gets to the sixth send (6/1) and is now using of 2 gb forcing the computer into virtual memory.
I decided to eliminate spooling and send directly to the printer without spooling.  It almost worked but, but half way through the print a 1 1/2 inch wide blank stripe the full height of the picture (10") is in the middle of the picture (in other words:  that part of the picture is missing).  I tried a second time thinking maybe there was a memory hiccup.  The second time the first quarter of the picture is cut off and there is a 3/4" wide stripe in what would have been the middle.
The picture prints out using other programs just not in the custom size.  Of course, HP support tells me it is an Adobe problem and since it doesn't occur with other programs I tend to agree.  One final note:  When the picture goes to print it tells me that certain postscript commands will be stript out since the printer does not support postscript.
Has anyone had success printing large pictures to the HP Officejet K8600?

I have not been able to print a photo from my 8x10 paper tray. It always reverts to the photo tray which only accepts 4x6 photos. I need to be ble to print larger photos.

    Hi,
Which operating system and printer? It sounds like you need to set the print preferences for the printer. If you are in Windows, right click on the printer icon in the printers folder and select printing preferences. Within that menu you can specify size and tray options . Also make sure that the application you are printing from mirros the correct size and tray settings.

  • "Print page" doesn't work as intended when using lengthy tables. (Brother MFC 6490CW, possibly others)

I had originally thought this was a printing driver problem, but further testing indicated that this was not a problem in Internet Explorer and it was a problem in Firefox.
When printing some web pages using Mozilla Firefox, particularly those having sizable tables which would extend beyond the length of a single printed page, the remainder of the table is not printed even though the remainder of the web page itself is printed. The behavior is also noted when using Print Preview. See, for example, this web page which I created: http://alltherightwaystowrite.blogspot.com/2013/08/the-basics-capitalization.html
I inquired of other bloggers to see if they were also experiencing this issue. See, for example, the discussion I began here: https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!msg/blogger/EpD6K2ezIZE/a5mPu8CV0HwJ
As you can see, the only response I received indicated it was not an issue for that person with a different printer. This leads me to believe the problem is with either the MFC6490CW printer (unlikely) or the MFC6490CW printer driver (more likely) or perhaps with Firefox, or some combination of those three. This problem is duplicatable by me on successive attempts to print with any web page with a table extending beyond the length of a single page of printed paper. The output error occurs whether printing in portrait or landscape mode.
Saving a web page as "Web Page Complete" and opening up the web page in Microsoft Word created a variety of formatting errors, but otherwise, the entire contents of the page would have printed. Of course, this is not an ideal solution in any event. The entire document should print seamlessly across multiple pages without losing any data or content in the process.
As indicated above, as an additional test, I attempted to print the same web page in Internet Explorer and did not note the output errors described here. The web page printed correctly under those conditions. As a result, I believe that the most likely culprit is Firefox since Internet Explorer was also a good test case for my printer and printer driver, and it passed that test case.

https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=521204 - this is a META Bug which is tracking all the Bugs which are related to '''Wrong page splitting / Missing page content when printing''' - 34 different Bugs, 14 of which are marked as solved.
IMO, that page would be better served with a print css script ''(as jscher2000 mentioned earlier)'' to make that a "printer ready" page, if wanting that page to be "printable" is your intention. As it now is that page is shrunk by about 50% with the "Shrink to Fit" feature engaged. Look at that page in Print Preview when the Scale is set to 100% instead of Shrink to Fit, and see that the page is so large that it shows that about 1/2 the width. Then decrease the zoom level in Print Preview to 50 or 60% to get that page to fit horizontally with the "Shrink to Fit" feature disabled. Looks like a case of "garbage in - garbage out".
I think the css used for that page uses too large a font which ''(IMO)'' forces Firefox to shrink the font too much to make that page fit to a letter size sheet of paper. And relying first upon the Print to Fit feature in the four different major browser engines ''(Gecko, Trident, WebKit, and Presto)'' and then the hundreds of print drivers out there is just looking for failures such as you are seeing; it works for some viewers and doesn't work for other viewers. What appears on the '''"screen"''' doesn't always translate to the '''"printed page'''" too well without proper instructions via style sheets, especially since "screens" are oriented horizontally and most "printed" pages are vertically oriented unless the user shifts to the Portrait view.

  • PDF: Unable to print a document as PDF from APEX when using the BI Publishe

    Hi,
From an APEX application, I am unable to print a document in a PDF format when using the Oracle BI Publisher.\
    Here is the configuration:
    1) Server A is W2K3 and hosts the Oracle BI Publisher server, with IP address ip01.
    2) Server B is a OEL5.2 and hosts the database server of the APEX application, with IP address ip02.
    3) Machine C is a W7 desktop from which through an URL both the APEX applicationn and the BI server are accessed, with IP address ip03.
    4) The APEX application is configured with the following to use the Oracle BI Publisher:
    - Printer server: Advanced (requires Oracle BI Publisher)
    - Printer server protocol: HTTP
    - Printer server host address: ip01
    - Printer server port: 9704
    - Printer server script: /xmlpserver/convert
    - Network services are enabled (at least I did get any warning/error message)
From C, I access the the APEX application through its URL, if I try to download a page by selecting PDF in the download section of the interative report section for that page, I am unable to open if and get the error:
<file>. pdf file can not be opened because the file type is not supported or because it is damaged (because, for example as an e-mail attachment is not sent and correctly decoded)
Yet, still from C, I am able to open any other PDF document.
The same way, still from C, acessing the APEX application through its URL, I have a query report defined with a PDF output format. Then, when I test the report (Test Report in the Report query) for that query, I get the error:
ORA-20001: The printing engine could not be reached because either the URL specified is incorrect or a proxy URL needs to be specified.
At first sight this could be a wong entry in the priinter configuration for APEX. But with this address, through the URL I can log in to the Oracle BI Publisher server.
Does someone has an idea what the problem could be?
    Thanks for any tips.

How are you trying to print to pdf?
Don't go via PostScript or Acrobat Distiller, which are old deprecated technology.
    You use:
Menu > File > Print > PDF (button bottom left) > Save as PDF…

  • Printer Driver Problem?  Page margins shift when using paper tray vs. manual feed

I am printing to an Apple LaserWriter 12/640 PS. The printed page and page margins are PERFECT (WYSIWYG; "What you see is what you get") when printing either to: (a) the MANUAL FEED TRAY of the Apple LaserWriter 12/640 PS; or (b) PDF to view on screen.
HOWEVER, when printing to the LaserWriter using the (ordinary/usual) paper cassette (you know, the thing that holds the 200+ sheeets of blank paper), two margin problems occur: (1) the uppermost portion of page content is shifted down 3/4" (maybe closer to 11/16") vs. its position on the manually fed paper.  This, in turn, causes the botttom portion of the page content to run off below the printed page.  (2) The "unprintable region" on the right edge of the paper expands from 1/8" with the manually fed paper to 7/16" when using the paper cassette.  This shows up as an extra 5/16" (7/16" - 1/8" = 5/16") of white space/missing page content on the right edge.
The problem is consistent and reproduceable.  It happens with cassette fed output from Safari, Word 2011, Acrobat X, TurboTax, Quicken Essentials for Mac, and TextEdit.
BIG problem when printing long documents whose content and margin settings I cannot control (e.g., third-party documents from Acrobat, anything from Quicken Essentials or TurboTax, pages from Safari, etc.).  The only workaround is to feed everything manually (UGGH!).
I suspect the printer driver is faulty since the problem detailed above happens with so many applications.  Is there a way to edit a plist (using the application/utility "Pref Setter" or similar) to overide the driver's margin settings?
I believe the print driver is "Apple LaserWriter 12/640 PS v2015.105" (from Sytem Prefences->Print&Scan->Options and Supplies->Driver).
    Any help greatly appreceated.

Thanks!  It works perfectly!  I even saved my original "oversize" document by printing it to PDF with the scaling so the problem is permanently cured, at least for this document.

  • Advice on printing large photos?

I have a Canon PowerShot SD400 Digital Elph camera. As far as I can tell, the largest it can take is 2592 x 1944, which shows up as 180 dpi when I open it in Photoshop. Based on this, I think that the largest standard size I can order is 10" x 8" through iPhoto, but I'd really like to be able to produce some much larger prints of my photos to hang on the wall - more like posters than snapshots.
Any advice on how large I can safely print?
Also, is it possible to produce more than 180 dpi prints with this 5 megapixel camera?
(Please excuse me if this is a duplicate question - I tried to post it last night, but it hasn't shown up in the bulletin board so far.)
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.2)   iPhoto 6

Each camera generated file has a fixed amount of pixels. In you case 2592 x 1944. If you print at 4 x 6 you'll be at approx. 430 dpi. Going up to 20 x 30 you can achieve only about 86 dpi. Not very good. But in PS if you go into the Image->Image size menu and increase one of the dimensions in the document size section, PS will resize the document at the same dpi as the original. So going up to 30 x 22 (un-cropped), using the
Bicubic resample option you'll get pixel dimensions of 5400 x 4050.
On the screen it looks pretty good but I've not gone ahead and had a really large print, like 20 x 30, made so can't comment on the resulting quality.

  • Photosmart 8450 error print and photo light

Hi, my printer had been working fine but suddenly just stopped and shows a red light around the big 'print' button and a green light next to 'photo' under the 'paper tray' bit on teh display.  It doesn't turn on or off, the ink cartridges don't move when I open the top - it does nothing.
Weirdly, my hp scanner doesn't work if the printer is plugged in but as soon as I unplug the printer the scanner (Scanjet 3530c) springs to life.  They are on the same 4-gang extension lead but that's it!
Any thoughts greatly appreciated, especially as I'd just bought new inks for the printer!

  • TC problem printing large photos

I have a canon mp530 hooked up to the usb port on my 1gig TC. It prints documents fine, but whenever I send a picture file to be printed, it begins to print but stops just a few seconds into it. After a while, the printer just ejects the unfinished document. I tried hooking up my computer via ethernet to see if it was a speed issue as the picture is rather large, but the same problem occurs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a similar problem with my Canon MP830.
Direct USB works fine, but printing thru AEBS, large document just stops.

  • Tile Function in LR ... Printing Large Photos

I have a 360 degree photo, stitched, from the top of Mt St Helens. I'm trying to figure out how to break it up into six pictures so I can frame each. It would be nice to have this feature in LR.
Can someone point me to a program / feature to help me with this task?
    Thanks

Lightroom can do this if the image is small enough to be opened in LR. You could make 6 Virtual Copies, cropping each one to 1/6 size, with or without overlap, and print from there.
Size is dependent on number of horizontal pixels (for normal panos).

  • Print large photo in several sections

How can you print a 16X20 inch photograph with one fourth of the photograph on each of four 8X10 inch photo paper? When complete and alined the full photograph will be shown

Click the crop tool, then in the upper right hand corner, set your width and height for 8x10. Then save each piece that you crop and print them all out.

  • Firefox will disable my HP L7680( error message " turn power off then on again") when using either the printer icon or print in file pull down. .

This happens for em & other print request in my online brokerage account. It has no problem printing PDF files. When the message appears, four lights start blinking at the same time on the auto answer button, on off button, lower SD slot, and the light under the OK button with the directional tabs. At that point I have to power down the printer and change to ie8 to print these. My ie8 browser has no problems with any printing, but it does not function when trying to add notes in my Comcast address book

Mowaffaq, you may want to determine whether you are making those changes in the master printing preferences (versus the adjusting the session printing preferences from within your application).
Click "Start", click "Printers and Faxes" (or "Devices and Printers"), right-click your printer, and select "Printing Preferences". On the "Paper/Quality" tab, you should be able to specify A4 as your default paper for all future print jobs.
    Hope that helps.

  • Why is photo black and color draining when using black only?

I am printing in fast draft, black only, why is my photo black being used?
Am I wrong thinking photo black is just for the photo tray?
Also my colors seem to be used as well.

    Hi,
Color inks will drain slowly even we use black only because from time to time the printer needs to clean the print head(s) specially during warming up process.

  • Error 1030723 Unable to get UTF-8 locale when using Essbase API 11.1.1

Now I got a question about how to connect to an Essbase Server by using essbase client API (11.1.1). I encountered an error “Unable to get UTF-8 locale” when I tried to EssInit((pInitStruct, phInstance) API.
However, I had no problem to call the API if I uses essbase previous client APIs (7.1 or 9.3).
I passed the “ESS_API_UTF8” to usApiType field in the ESS_INIT_T struct. When I openned the “essapi.h” header file, I found these are some new fields (highlighted in red color below) added in the essbase client API (11.1.1)
