Error regarding MPEG-4 format

when trying to export to MPEG-4 format the "Estimated File Size" says: 7MB. Is it reasonable for MPEG-4 to be so small? doesn't it suppose to be large as MPEG-2? when trying to change frame width to 720 i get an error:"invalid frame size/frame rate" etc.
Noam.

You have that correct. AVI, MPEG, MOV, WMV, etc. are all "wrappers," and almost anything can be contained within those "wrappers." This ARTICLE will give you some background.
Hope that helps, and good luck,
Hunt

  • How do I convert an excel (2008) document to Numbers?  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid"

How can I convert an Excel (2008) document to Numbers.  When I drag the Excel document onto the Numbers icon I get, "Import error.  The file format is invalid.

That extension identifies the most current Excel file format, a format that can be opened by Numbers '09 (and by Numbers '08).
A check with Numbers '09 shows it capable of opening .xlsx files when right-clicked (and Numbers chose as the application to open, when double-clicked (if Numbers has been set as the default application to open this type of file, or when dragged to the Numbers icon in the dock.
I see two possibilities for Numbers inability to open it and the message you receive:
    1. The file is not actually an Excel file, and the sender has added the .xlsx extension to the filename manually.
    2. The file is an Excel file, but has somehow been corrupted.
Have you tried opening the file with a different application? The open source Office suites, OpenOffice.org, LibreOffice and NeoOffice can also open .xlsx files. If they're unable to open this one, that would point toward the file itself being faulty. You can download these applications from their rspective websites, linked in the names above. All request a donation to support future development, but only Neo requires one to have been made recently, and that only for the current release (which won't be necessary to open .xlsx files).

  • IWeb 08 error message "The file format is invalid"

I have been reading all of the problems regarding publishing iweb pages at the moment, I too cannot publish my site but I get a different error message
    "The file format is invalid"
Can anyone help as to why I might be getting this message?
My iDisk seems to have a very old version of my website stored and I don't know where to look to find the current versions files?
Why hasn't iDisk got the most up to date version of my iWeb site and how do I get it to have?
Which folder on the iDisk should your iWeb files be stored in?
Sorry to ask so many questions but I am new to the publishing part after spending weeks building a site only to find it I get an error and my iDisk file structure holds old files.

When I opened iWeb I could see the most up-to-date version of my site, I could edit it and save it (to where I don't know). When I opened the web and sites folder on my iDisk it contained only the files from a previous version of my website created months ago.
I tried looking for the Domain file for my iWeb site and looked in my home folder, application support and then iWeb but the iWeb file in App support was empty.
I believe the iWeb file in App support is where the Domain file should be located, correct?
I have used Time machine to go back a week and have located the domain file and have restored it. The domain file now sits in the iWeb folder in App support in my Home, where it should be.
Now when I load iWeb I see the version of my website that was created a week ago which is fine but iDisk still has the old file structure of my site from months ago.
Can I delete the old file structure completely from the Sites folder on my iDisk? this should remove the old version of my website shouldn't it?
How do I get the restored version of my website to appear in iDisk?
Do I simply copy the Domain file into the sites folder on iDisk?
My iWeb files on Mobile me are also the months old versions, how do I update these so my new site is all that I can see?
Any answers to my 'File format' problem when trying to upload, is it because I don't have my iWeb files in the correct places?

  • "Error parsing MPEG Metadata file.

    I have been using Encore for about 4 years: 1.5 -> 2.
Recently I have had problems with projects exported as an avi file from Premier 2 and used in a simple menu and timeline in Encore 2. Typically projects were about an hour long. Chapter points were added in Encore automatically every 3 mins for general navigation assistance. I checked the project was OK and pressed Build. After watching the video transcoding progress bar creep to 100%, the error message appears immediately the process appears to have completed - "Error parsing MPEG Metadata file. Deleting or renaming filename.m2v.xmpses" will allow you to import, but any markers will be lost". On the previous occasion I went back to the assets, highlighted the avi file and transcoded it manually (automatically). No error message. I then built and burned the DVD.
I have sometimes cured problems by removing any info from the final chapter point - delete the visible info. This may have just solved this last problem despite the initial build being reported as being free of problems. Following the first problem I rechecked and was told there was a problem with the final chapter point. I deleted the chapter point info and it has built and burned satisfactorily.
    Two questions.
What is causing this problem. I have burned lots of DVDs over the years with Encore. Is the use of chapter points the cause of the problem. There have been quite a lot of reports of this in other (Matrox) forums. I am using Matrox RTX100. How can I prevent this huge waste of time - a build may take me a couple of hours.
Is it better to export the Premier Pro2 timeline as an avi and use Encore for the transcoding, or is it better to export a trancoded file from Premier directly and just include this in the Encore project. If yes, which format should I export it in. I have the Premier and Matrox transcoding options.
    Roger

Not sure if this is causing the error, but since version 2 Encore automatically adds a chapter point on the last available GOP. It could be that the last of your 3 minute chapter markers is closer to this final chapter point than 0.4 seconds. The DVD-Video specification requires chapter points to be at least 0.4 seconds apart.

    Thanks for the reply.
We are in process of upgrading Oracle Apps R11i into R12. This statement works fine in 11i but not working in R12. I think issue is not with -IN, -XSL and -OUT parameters.

  • Using iMove HD to capture in Mpeg-4 format

I have iMovie HD 5.0.2 and was wondering if there is anyway for me to capture video that is saved directly in Mpeg-4 format instead of as a DV clip. I noticed that when you start a new project in iMovie HD, you can select between the ff video formats: DV, HD, Mpeg-4 and iSight. So I assumed that if I select Mpeg-4, than it would capture my video footage from my DV cam (a sonypc350) as Mpeg-4. But it doesn't. It still caputers it as a DV clip. So is there anyway that I can capture in Mpeg-4 format using iMovie HD. My DV cam has analog to digital pass through and I'm trying to figure out a way to create a make-shift TiVo kinda system with the tools I have available.

...a way to capture directly into compressed Mpeg-4 format because DV clips take up a lot of hard drive space. ...
    Nope.
iM's internal file format/compressor is dv, any other will/has to be converted...
    besides:
mp4 is a lossy codec - you will never get the pic quality as dv...-
video editing is a disk drive consuming process - no workaround.
sorry to say that (owner of ~0,7TB of HD… )

  • Error regarding plug-ins/won't open - unpackaged file is 4 GB - which is huge

When I open a certain file (which has not had any issues) it gives me an error regarding plug-ins/won't open. The odd part is that the unpackaged file is 4 GB - which is huge. The file also doesn't contain that much information to be that size.

    1. Super appreciate your help.
    2. It is saved on my desktop - there are no .idlk files
    3. I sent the file to another person and they cannot open it
    4. The concern is that it is a 4 GB file - which is not normal for an unpackaged file - does that not seem large? Generally even the most populated of docs is in the MB category
    5. All other files open fine
    6. I copied and pasted under a new name, rebooted a billion times

  • Error message "unsupported image format" over red screen

Working my way through a project making corrections to a series of jpegs, when the image preview disappears and turns red with the error message "unsupported image format" in small print over the top, the thumbnail is fine and I know the image to be fine. Move on to the next 2-3 images all with the same message and then the App hangs.
Force quit and relaunch Aperture and the images are ok again.
I am assuming that the previews are corrupting and causing this. Oh the app has been hanging intermittently throughout he day, I have trashed both the pref's and the App support folder, but still I get the spinning beach ball.
    Any thoughts?
    Tony

I just noticed a similar problem. But for me it seems to be only for images referenced from my iPhoto library. I have not seen it yet on images imported directly into Aperture. If I click on a folder of images they appear fine at first, but if I just leave it displaying the first image after a few seconds the image disappears and displays the "unsupported image format" message over a red screen. Or it may display a random icon from somewhere in the application. And then the preview images start changing. Sometimes they change to what looks like system or application icons (arrow, the ratings "star", a printer icon, etc.)

  • Error Parsing MPEG metadata file (repeatedly!)

Hello, I am getting the error message "Error parsing MPEG Metadata file. deleting or renaming <pathname>\cache\temp_transcodes\ss_aJstrm_5\ss_AJstrm_v5.m2v.xmpses" will allow you to import, but any markers will be lost". <br /><br />I have a fairly simple DVD (I think) ..one menu (PAL_Projector-MENU) and 9 slideshows of JPEG images. I start to build a DVD or DVD Folder (tried both). I get "no errors detected" when I do a Project check.<br /><br />I keep cycling through these error messages hoping I am eventually going to get to the end. I delete the files as it suggests, and restart after it forces a save. I have gone round the cycle about 10 times - not sure when it's likley to end.<br /><br />Help anyone?<br /><br />XP Pro SP2, Pentium 4 CPU 3.00 GHz, 2GB RAM. <br /><br />Thanks<br />Mark

    M,
Like I said, i don't use encore for slideshows, so I can't really give expert advice on this one. However I do 90% of my video productions with adobe software and 10% with pinnacle. I have had WAY too many issues burning DVD's and Playback issues and rendering issues with pinnacle, however their music video/slide show automation is by far the best out there. Aside from software we'll get back on topic. I would recommend starting a whole new slideshow from scratch. Create a new project, import new photos, etc. Start with the basics to do your trial and error. Don't use a menu, don't loop anything. Just import, set your title button to the first picture, and set the end action to stop. Then try to burn, however instead of wasting discs, try writing an image file, or even just build the dvd folders. Other than that, I'm not too sure what direction to head, but start basic and trial and error everything from that point. If you have msn you can contact me at [email protected] and maybe i can further assist you. Either way, let me know how you make out.
