Error reinstalling Photoshop CS 5.1 (already have MC 5.5 installed)

I was having problems with Photoshop CS 5.1. I don't recall when they started, but I was unable to use any keyboard modifier keys (Ctrl, Alt, etc) for commands, and though I could click on items, dragging anything in photoshop would not work. I found some tips suggesting that uninstalling and reinstalling PS would correct the issue. However, I cannot reinstall the program after uninstalling it. I have restarted multiple times. Here is the error message I am getting when the install fails:

Any suggestions? I am at wit's end, and not being able to use Photoshop is really starting to become an inconvenience. For reference, I am on a Windows 7 64-bit machine and trying to install the 64-bit version of PS CS 5.1 from the CS 5.5 Master Collection.

I am still having problems getting Photoshop reinstalled on my computer. I've been without it for almost two months now, with no indication of why it stopped working in the first place. Does anyone know what I can do to get it reinstalled?

I don't think that's true at the moment; the CC version of LR5 is identical to the stand-alone version, and it will interwork with Photoshop in the same way.

You're probably running into the servers simply being swamped. Thousands of people are all going for the software update at the same time. Give it a try again and if that doesn't work, then try plugging it into your computer and trying it that way.
I didn't get a notion of the size, it doesn't seem to be as big as the 700 meg 5.0 update, but it did take me 20+ minutes to download via cable internet so it's a large file. That in and of itself takes a while.
If you're trying to download it directly to your iPhone, you'll need to be on wifi since I'm sure it's well over the 20 meg file size limit for 3G.

Disable anti virus software.
Apps such as Little Snitch, Net Nanny, and Hands Off can prevent apps from downloading including Mountain Lion as well as third party download managers.

If you need to reinstall OS X or repair the the startup disk using Mountain Lion Recovery, that requires broadband access to the internet via Wi-Fi or an Ethernet connection. OS X is downloaded over the internet form Apple when OS X Recovery is used for reinstallation.

If you update using iTunes, the full iOS is downloaded. If you update directly on your phone, this is called a "Delta" update, & only the changes to the iOS are downloaded. That's why you see the difference you see.

Need to reinstall Photoshop CS2 but it can't find a previously installed version so won't reinstall

Photoshop CS2 told me there was a "major problem" and that I would need to reinstall the software to continue using it.
So I used the installer CD, but it told me it could not install because there was already a copy installed, which would need to be removed.
So I removed the old version and tried to reinstall but now it tells me it needs a previously installed version in order to reinstall.
Adobe "customer service"chat is 100% useless on this, referred me to the 800 #, been on hold for over 45 miinutes now, and no relevant topics found on "help" forums.
For a multibillion dollar monopoly, you'd think they could hire a couple of customer service reps but I guess it's all DIY "support" here, so can anyone help?

So, you are NOT trying to reinstall an upgrade, but a purchased version (not in an upgrade path from one version to the next)?
If that is correct, there should be no request for a "previously installed version." That only appears when one is installing an upgrade.
Are you installing from physical media (a DVD), or from a download?

I already have DVDSP4 installed, but i have found that i can't export to MPEG2 from Final Cut HD. I would like to get this back on my 'export' list in Final Cut HD. Can i install DVDSP3 back onto my mac without overwriting DVDSP4?
I prefer not to use Compressor, as i've wasted time on it before with some of the problems it comes with. Also want to have A-Pack on my machine.

Works like a charm. Apple Supports says you can have multiple instances of Bootcamp. Win Server 2008 R2 is up and running, drivers installed (except issues with Bluetooth) and accepting Windows Updates and Service Packs.

I owned Adobe Photoshop 7.0 and the file became corrupted. I still have the serial number. Shouldn't I be able to download another version, even though it's an older version without having to buy the new 7.0.1 update? This doesn't seem right otherwise.

The earliest version offered for download by Adobe is CS2

That version has been offered to CS2 owners because the original CS2 activation server has been shut down.
So CS2 owners can download a version of CS2 which does not require activation when the serial number given at that link is used.
There should be no reason that owners of CS, version 7 (such as yourself) and earlier cannot also download CS2 since you are unable to install the version you have already purchased.

When I go to uninstall I get this message: "The alias “Uninstall Adobe Photoshop CS6” can’t be opened because the original item can’t be found." I don't know how or why the uninstaller would have been moved or deleted, but it appears to be gone. How do I uninstall without the uninstaller?

Issue: Deleted (don't ask why!) photoshop elements 10 . Installation disks think it is still installed but comes up with an error when it trys to remove the program in order to reinstall.
