Error restarting/shutting down/starting TomCat web container

Hi guys,
I'm new to TomCat.
I'm currently using TomCat4.1 with J2SDK1.4, J2SDKEE1.3.1 and jakarta-ant-1.5.
I am having trouble stopping or restarting the web container.
i.e. when I run shutdown.bat in %TOMCAT_HOME%/bin/shutdown.bat I have this error:
Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: 4/1"
And I've search in vain to target the problem area.
Please help
Thanks

Must be some classpath problem. Does the error message say which class is not found?

  • I have MacBook Pro and whenever I start Aperature 3 it stays on for about 5 minutes then it shuts down with an error of shutting down unexpected... anything??

Hello, I have MacBook Pro and whenever I start Aperature 3 it stays on for about 5 minutes then it shuts down with an error of shutting down unexpected... anything??
Also does anyone know how to take something from one picture and add it to another in aperature?
    Thank you!!!

I had the exact same problem. Here is what an Apple Support person told me to do - and it worked like a charm!
Go to your APPLICATIONS Folder. Find a folder within that folder called TOOLBARS. Remove the ENTIRE folder. Once you remove that folder, your Aperture should work perfectly.
There is something in that folder that you don't need that messes with Aperture. Try it. Mine worked perfectly!

  • .Mac Auto Syncing of iDisk hindering Restarts/Shut Downs on new Intel iMac?

I have been experiencing a Restart/Shut Down reliability issue with my new iMac and Leopard 10.5.1. This evening an Apple rep I know pointed me to a work-around in Apple Discussions:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5957261&#5957261
This thread notes the discovery by one user that iDisk automatic syncing is not working reliably, and is preventing consistent restarting/shutting down of your Mac. Although, syncing has been working reliably for me both for .Mac stuff, and the iDisk itself, if you do a Get Info on your iDisk it reports, at least for me, that its capacity is 1TB, with 466GB available. I have only the standard 10GB .Mac account, and only 5GB of that is allocated to my iDisk, so something is clearly amiss with the .Mac iDisk setup (iDisk Get Info reports correctly on my G5 Macs w/Leopard), as being reported from the .Mac server. If you check your Console logs, you may also see this recurring error message, which is reporting a syncing error, although my syncs have, as I've said, been working correctly:
    11/25/07 9:11 PM FileSyncAgent192 MKCOL /.FileSync (FAILED), httpStatusCode:405, errorType:100, transactionState:5, txnId:3846B904-9ABB-40E5-9928-B9233FAC05D2, auto-retries=0, manual-retries=0
To summarize, if you turn off your iDisk in your System Preferences/.Mac/iDisk preference pane, you'll have no problems restarting/shutting down. You may also need to do the power management reset (turn off Mac, unplug all devices and power for 15 seconds, reconnect, and start up) and the parameter RAM reset (reboot while holding down the cmd-opt-P-R keys). You can do this in one restart cycle, if you like. After that, restarts/shutting down has worked perfectly for me.
Of course, I actually USE my iDisk, and will be leaving it on. But, at least I know now how to work around the restart/shut down issue. (Note: this morning my iMac had locked up, after the iDisk mounted/unmounted repeatedly during the evening, so I rebooted and switched iDisk syncing to manual. More to follow...)
I hope Apple adds this fix to their 10.5.2 update next month.
Note: This is such an important issue, that in addition to adding it to a reply in another Shut Down thread, I thought I'd post it as a separate topic here.

MacOS X updates have resolved this issue.

  • Did Build 10061 revert back to 8.0's non-obvious approach to restart / shut-down?

After installing Build 10061, it took some hunting to figure out how to Restart and to Shut-Down.
IIRC, part of the awful 8.0 was that it was difficult to figure out how to Restart / Shut-Down, along with a host of other usability issues.
Well, I want to get back to my Win-7 partition on my desktop, after wresting with Build 10061's Spartan browser.
And it took me 5+ minutes to figure out how to accomplish that. I know I can be slow and a "dim bulb", but am I the only one unhappy at this change? Am I missing something obvious on how to get out of Build 10061.
IIRC, Win 8.1 got to be relatively easy to Restart, and Builds from the 9000's to the previous 10049 were easy to Restart.
And now, my experience is that I was back to needing to do Ctrl-Alt-Delete and then notice the widget at the lower right ... which has the fly-over hint of Shut-Down when I really want to Restart.

Thanks, especially for the screen shot.
I infer by "Windows Logo", you mean what I think of as the "Start Button".
I'm not on the Build 10061 partition right now, so I can't check if that works for me. It seems I tried RMB on the "Start Button / Windows Logo", and that didn't offer the option of Restart.
Also, from a Usability perspective, having that choice of words is flawed. The Menu showing up from the RMB click mentions two possibilities (Shut down or sign out), but then there are actually 4 possibilities on the "fly-out menu (also Restart and
    Sleep).
My speculation is that I may have noticed the option of "Shut down or sign out" and was still scratching my head about "so, how do I Restart".
I'll check the next time I boot to the Build 10061 partition.
I think the other Reply post may show another way to Restart, but that screenshot (thanks!) looks different.

Which OS X is installed on your Mac ?
Click the Apple () menu top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac. The version is noted there.
Troubleshooting advice can depend on that information.

  • SCM / APO shut down start up; (restore) activities, procedures, best practice

    Dear ALL,
What are the generic steps that need to be followed from a Functional Consultant perspective?
I am not sure if this must be part of a Basis thread
Anyone can share & enlighten the forum on this
Some of the steps module wise are
    FUNCTIONAL steps
    1.    DP
    1.1  Downloading of CVC's
1.2  Backup of all infocubes / remote query cube
1.3  Download of Planning book data
    2.     SNP PPDS
2.1   Download Product Master, PPM, Resource data of '000'
2.2   Download 'all order data' from the product overview
    TECHNICAL steps
    0. Complete off line back up of the system
    1. Lock users except admin
    2. Stop CIF
    3. Stop live cache
    What are the restore steps
Anything missed out functionally / technically is welcome
    Points would be awarded

    Hi Sridhar,
During shut down & start up of APO system, functional part
involvement is mandatory and it is not an isolated work of
    basis alone.
Moreover, in addition to the steps that you have mentioned,
the following are some of the steps that you can follow it up.
    1) DP:-
Before shut down:-Copy of data to other simulation versions
from active versions if required. Locking users, Postponing or
    rescheduling of jobs accordingly
After shutdown:- Time series consistency checks
Validation of data, Scheduling jobs, unlock users
    2) SNP PPDS:-
Before shut down:- Jobs postponement or rescheduling,
Informing users to take the necessary deliveries from stos
    from snp for execution
After shutdown:- Download of planning data and validation,
    Scheduling of jobs, Order conversions,
    3) Technical Steps:- (CIF / Livecache)
Before shutdown:- Rescheduling of integration model jobs
    if any,
After shutdown:- Scheduling of integration model jobs,
releasing locked users, Livecache consistency checks,
Delta report, Monitoring and clearing inbound/outbound
    queues etc.,

    Hi John,
Before clicking "Restart..." or "Shut Down..." in the  menu, press the Option key ⌥.
You can also use the "Eject shortcuts":
    Quicker (dialog box):
    - (restart) Control-Eject then R    (⌃⏏ then R)
    - (sleep) Control-Eject then S    (⌃⏏ then S)
    - (cancel) Control-Eject then Command-dot    (⌃⏏ then ⌘.)
    - (shut down) Control-Eject then Return    (⌃⏏ then ↩)
    Even quicker (no dialog box):
    - (restart) Control-Command-Eject    (⌃⌘⏏)
    - (sleep) Option-Command-Eject    (⌥⌘⏏)
    - (shut down) Control-Option-Command-Eject    (⌃⌥⌘⏏)

  • Computer from Sleep now starts up and shut downs, starts up shut down, ...

Computer had been running this morning and I was away for a couple of hours.  When I returned I found that my HP S5780t was shutting down then starting up again, then shutting down, starting up, ...  Power supply LED shows green, disconnected hard drive and DVD drive and same condition exists. BIOS screen does not show up.   All three fans working properly.  Monitor shows initial HP screen but machine shuts down before anything can happed.  Tried F10 but machine still shuts down.  Machine will continue in this mode until I press and hold the power button for several seconds.  Looks at some other messages regarding this issue but did not find anything that solves my problem.
    Thanks,
    This question was solved.

I called tech support regarding repair options and they mentioned $299 to fix it no matter what the problem.  This does not sound like a bad deal.
I'll wait until my new computer arrives, move the information from the dead computer's hard drive to the new one and then send in the unit.
    Thank-you for your help.
