Error restoring iPhone 5 help

I have tried to restore my iphone 5 on two different computers, one being a mac, and the error message is still appearing. I have done everything that the apple website has told me to do.. what shal I do now?

It might help if you shared that error message. That would add a lot to trying to discover a solution.

    You might try:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • Can't restore Iphone 4 HELP!!

Water was spilt on my phone and after leaving it in rice for a few hours it went into recovery mode, now i cant get out of it
I click restore Iphone and it says extracting then it makes a noise like its unplugged and my phone screen goes dark with no apple sign while Itunes says waiting for iphone after a while it comes up with an error message
Ive tried all the steps apple suggests including using another PC but it didnt pick up the iphone at all
    Im using Windows btw
    any help appreciated

I did brought my phone to Globe (my carrier) and they restored it successfully. It was a huge relief. They told me that it could have been a problem with my computer or USB port or even my sync cable. I thought my iPhone is forever stuck in recovery mode. Thank God the guys at Globe revived and I only have to wait in less than 10 mins.

  • Cannot restore iphone 4 - help please

    hi,
as with many people on here i think, i have reached a milestone frustration at apple and the way in which it is just not possible to tell whether something has hung and should be killed, or is just worked slowly.  anyhoo... any help at all with this would be much appreciated.  thanks for reading.
just got back from holiday and after a week have big iphone 4 problems....
    itunes 10.3.1.55
    ios 4.3.3
    windows 7 home premium
    uk O2 subscriber, not unlocked
since getting back from vacation windows 7 HP has been updated to SP1 with some auto updates which i didn't much notice but may be at the root of this problem (and, if they are, then i am mad as **** with microsoft, naturally).
after this, i found that my phone worked fine but it had lost access to all of its itunes content i.e. no music, no videos.  my contacts, photos, apps all seemed to be ok.
in the iphone window in itunes, and also in the iphone settings app, it showed that all of my music / videos were still there, i just could not access it / play it / see it through ipod app.
so, i tried  few options from the web, basic stuff, to try to help the iphone remember its loaded content.  no luck.
so, i decided to hit restore.  first time it got stuck on 'restoring iphone software", no more than 10% of the way through.
    i had to unplug it.
i turned the iphone off, shut-down and restarted the PC and tried again.  same thing.  i am now on my third attempt at this, but nothing is making any difference.  when i plug it in it does recognise it and goes through steps like "verifying restore with iphone update server", "extracting software", etc, so it does know it is connected.  it just cannot get past this point.
any suggestions on how to fix this would be very much welcome.
thank you in advance for your time.
    steve

  • Error Restoring iPhone

My iPhone is stuck at the "apple" screen, and I can only turn it on and off by holding down the on/off and select buttons. It won't do anything else.
I've read various threads here, and tried Apple's step-by-step help for a stuck iPhone, but I still can't get it to restore.
As I understand (or misunderstand), you first try to Reset it by holding down the two buttons until it turns off and then turns back on. If it boots normally, you're Ok. I try this (over and over), and I just get the Apple screen again. It never goes any farther.
So then you're supposed to try connecting it to the computer (with iTunes open) while holding down the button on the front. This should bring up the Restore option. After lots of causing iTunes (7.7.1) to freeze when I connect the "stuck" iPhone, I finally got iTunes to see it.
Now the real problem: When I try to Restore, I get an error. If I try to restore with a Backup first (probably not a good idea, since the bar at the bottom of the screen shows the content all wrong -- probably corrupted) and I get the error: iTunes could not sync ^0 to the iPhone "Manatee's iPhone" because an unknown error occurred (-19). Ok, so I try the Restore without doing a back up first. Then I get the error message: The iPhone "Manatee's iPhone" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (0xE8000035)
Any ideas how I can get my iPhone back to life?
    Thanks!

Well, I was finally able to restore it. The method? Turning it on and off over and over for hours, and connecting it to the computer while holding down the button each time. I finally saw the icon with the arrow pop up on the screen in place of that bleepin' apple, and I was able to do a restore.
I hope a software update comes out before I have to do this again. I love the iPhone platform, but this has been very frustrating.

  • Restoring iPhone 4 - help I dont want to lose my photos!

iTunes is telling me my phone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored.
I havent sync'd my phone in ages to iTunes so am worried if I restore it I will lose all my photos, data etc.
    Is there anyway around this??

Ok there are a couple of other resources out there that can help you get out of the recovery loop problem. They are a bit outdated but I suggest trying IREB. If neither IREB, Tiny Umbrella or Rec Boot do the job for you, there might be some type of corruption in your configuration files. Unfortunately, you would have to restore your iphone . I'll post the link for IREB below, Good Luck and let us know how it works out for you.
    http://ih8sn0w.com/index.php/products/view/ireb.snow
Once you download it and open IREB, you want to go the next tab and click on Recovery Mode Loop FIxer
Then Click on set auto boot true/recovery loops

  • Error -1 iphone 3GS HELP!

Hi there, i recently purchased an iphone 3gs 8gb from ebay and have found myself locked in a restore loop i have never seen before 'an unknown error occurred (-1)'. I have some knowledge of escaping error messages but this is one i have not heard of and can find no info regarding. The only way i am able to get the phone to turn on is to use tethered 5.1 redsnow jailbreak. Ironically, even then my reception remains 'searching......' before telling me i need to restore via itunes. The itunes restore literally appears to get all the way to the end before giving me the error message. I am totally stuck, any information regarding this error would be greatly recieved. many thanks

Been told by the guy in the aple store that this is a very rare hardware fault which cannot be fixed....

  • Trying to connect to iTunes but says i need to restore iphone!  HELP!

A few month ago my pc's hard drive crashed. I have since got it fixed with a new hard drive and with Windows 7 (previously I had XP).
I have just downloaded the new version of iTunes and when I connect my iphone a pop up appears stating that iTunes cannot read the content of my iphone and that it needs to be restored to the factory settings.
Is there anyway of fixing this problem without having to restore my iphone? If there is no alternative is there a way of saving everything? I haven't done a back up or upgrade in oer 4 months.
Your help is much appreciated. Thanks

Unfortunately, no. If iTunes is giving you that message, there is data or code seriously corrupted in your phone, or there is hardware damage. The only solution is to restore as instructed. This is the downside of not backing up.
Out of curiosity, why did you not install iTunes and backup right after you replaced your HD and OS on your computer?
The only alternative for saving some data (the backup) is to obtain a 3rd party app for windows that can backup and restore some of it independently of iTunes. There are several of these - Google is your friend to find them. The caveat is that if your iPhone flash drive is corrupted, those apps may not work properly either.

  • HT201442 can not restore iphone please help

    Can not restore iphone

You have posted from a Support Article about Error Code 3194...
If Error Code 3194 is your issue and that Article did not resolve it... then you have a problem.
Perhaps a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is required..
Be sure to make an appointment first...
    Note:
That error message may be indicative of the Device being Hacked / jailbroken.... If this is the case then you are on your own.

  • Can't Sync Error 13091 iPhone 4 - Help Resolve please

I have been here for a while, so I thought I can fix most issues. I checked here / searched and there were no posts regarding this error 13091. I looked online via Google and a couple very old posts said to restore as new?
I have not upgraded to 4.3 yet, but may not want to if I can't sync.
It seems it syncs goes through all the steps and then when it finalizes sync it says can't sync with the 13091 error.
A few posts I found said it is related to music or photos, so I disabled those from sync and the error still happens.
Any advice on how to fix w/o a restore as new? I can do that if I need to and then restore from backup, but would hate to if there is another resolve. The phone still works find and back ups fine.
No damage, no drops, no hacks, no JB, all clean.
    Thanks

    Screwed up, wrong error now..

This means that either your firewall/antivirus is blocking access to Apple's servers, or you have used your computer to jailbreak an iDevice in the past. The link above tells you how to resolve this issue.
