Error restoring my iPhone 4.

My iPhone has been having some problems lately so I decided I was going to restore it, however everytime I restore it I got an error that states: "The software for the iPhone "iPhone" was corrupted during download." I have tried restoring it several times and keep getting the same message. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

Has your iPhone been hacked or jailbroken at any time?
If not, download the software on your computer using iTunes (current version: 11.0.2) on a good strong fast WiFi connection.

I am trying to update a 4s. The update did not work for some reason. Now I need to restore the iPhone. When I connect the usb to the computer and phone it says I need to restore. So, I click to restore. It starts extracting the software. But I am continually getting the same error message that it cannot complete for unknown error. I have been working on this for 5 and a half hours. I'm tired, mu husband needs his phone and apple support is a joke and of course I can't find any answers anywhere. Please help!

    Hi MB2751,
As an iPhone user myself, I know it must be very much a problem to have the phone out of service because of an error such as you are seeing. Let's see if we can get you back up and running.
I would suggest that you troubleshoot using the steps in this article -
If you can't update or restore your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

Help needed! I cannot restore my iPhone 5, An unknown error occupied (1)..

That is either going to be a hardware failure or your phone is jailbroken and something has gone awry with the baseband.

  • I get an error 9 when I try to restore my iPhone 4s

The title pretty much sums it up, but a little background.
While reading a kindle book my 4s shut itself off. It then started, went to the apple screen, cut to white screen, and shut off again.  It repeated this in an unending loop.
Since I had not backed up my Iphone since January, I was frantic, because I had over 650 pictures on there. Anyway, I tried charging it and after a while it started working again.  Miracle of Miracles! So I instantly uploaded all the pictures onto my laptop, but was unable to back the phone up again.  But it was late and I figured I'd try it again later.
The next day, during normal activities such as reading a book, playing a game, or even swiping on the home screen, the phone would randomly cut off, restart, and then be fine.
Finally it cut off again, and went into the dreaded cycle.
Even though I hadn't backed it up fully, I decided to try to restore it. It was the only option I could think of. (I've already ordered a new phone, but it won't be here for 2 weeks, so I'm trying to fix this one temporarily to avoid getting a trac-phone.)
Initially I got a high numbered error message when I tried to restore the phone. So I updated my computers OS and Itunes.  Then I tried again.
Now I"m getting an Error 9 message.  After looking up the troubleshooting for that message, I don't know what to do.  I don't have any periphials on my computer: just the power cable and the usb connected to the phone.
Does anyone have any ideas, or am I just the last guy holding the bag and out of luck here?
    TL:DR?
I have to restore my 4S and I'm getting an Error 9 when I try. Nothing extra is attached to my computer, and the OS and Ituns is up to date.
    Thank you all in advanced!

    Hi there,
Do you have icloud account? You need firstly turn off find my iphone (by go to icloud.com -->sign in --> go to "Find my iphone" and erase your iphone in it). And then you restore your iphone with DFU mode.
When you erase your Find my iphone and if you can not restore, your iphone has a problem with hardware.
    Some infos can help you.
    Kind regards,

  • Everytime I try to restore my iPhone I get half way through it then it gives me a -20 system error message and then tells me the back ip is corrupt. Can someone help?

I am trying to update my iphone and once it gets to the restoring process I get " An error occurred while restoring this iPhone (-20)". Once I hit ok I get "iTunes could not restore the iPhone " " because the backup was corrupt or not compatible with the iPhone that is being restored". But about a month ago we updated another iphone we have same model. Can someone tell me what to do or how to fix this?

Are you running modified software on your phone?  This error seems to be common if the firmware has been modified and you're trying to restore the phone again.

  • I can not Restore My iPhone 5s error 1

      Hi;
I have difficulty restoring my iphone 5s.It's strange story,my phone used to work Ok and i just wanted to upgrade to 7.1.1 via ipsw and itunes. This is what i did for many of my friends in last few days and already doing the same for others but this happened to my own iphone. It stops in the middle of restore and gives error 1.I'm using the current version of itunes and considered all security measures like checking firewall.I'm sure of it cause i do restore other iPhones and iPads and they have no problem. Also tried and Mac and still have the same error.
I checked all Apple suggestions in "http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1275" but none could help. Can you please help me with this case?

    Hi there semine,
You may find the troubleshooting steps in the article below helpful.
iOS: Unable to update or restore

  • HT1414 I just got a replacement iPhone 5 (64MB) for one with a cracked face, and tried to restore it.  Got an error message saying the iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available on the iPhone.  Now what?

I just replaced my iPhone 5 because of a cracked face.  I backed up the old phone to iTunes.  When I tried to restore my data off of iTunes to the new phone, I got an error message saying that iTunes could not restore the iPhone because not enough free space is available on the new iPhone.  Now what?
I have Apple Care+, but I'll be darned if I can find any way to contact anyone at Apple to talk to about this.  They take your money, but make darned sure they don't have to support you unless you jump through a bunch of hoops first, like this site.

I've done a restore.. The phone was completely wiped back to factory settings.. It then tells me there isn't enough space on the phone to restore from back up? How when the phone is empty?!

  • HT2693 I am getting an 1015 error while updating Iphone 3G with latest iTunes pls help me to restore iPhone 3G

I am getting an 1015 error while updating Iphone 3G with latest iTunes pls help me to restore iPhone 3G

  • IPhone 4 error while updating to iOS 5 - An error occurred while restoring this iPhone (-35).

After taking over an hour to backup and restore my iPhone to iOS 5 iTunes gave me that error:
An error occurred while restoring this iPhone (-35).
    Anyone know what this is?
None of my apps have been restored, or settings.

Try it again. Or un plug and try again.
Sometimes I have found if the server is busy it will not verify the phone and you start to loose things. If a back up was done before upgrade you will not have lost stuff.

  • I get the -1 error message when i have tried to restore my iphone, the phone will no longer work how can i rectify this?

I have tried to restore my iPhone but when it has gone through all the restore I get the -1 error message and now my phone will not work at all, how do I rectify this please.

    Error 1 or -1
This may indicate a hardware issue with your device. Follow Troubleshooting security software issues, and restore your device on a different known-good computer. If the errors persist on another computer, the device may need service.

  • Hi, my iphone its in recovery mode and when i restore my iphone 5s loading show the blue screen and show note on itunes (unknown error 14) please i need your help please . thanks

Hi, my iphone its in recovery mode and when i restore my iphone 5s loading show the blue screen and show note on itunes (unknown error 14) please i need your help please . thanks

In the article Resolve iOS update and restore errors this is what it says about error 14:
    Check your USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014, or “invalid response."
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you may be unable to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, you can also change up your hardware:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
    Try a different computer.
If necessary, resolve any further issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you're still seeing the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section.
