  • ERROR GETTING LICENSE:license Server Communication Problem:E_ADEPT_USER_AUTH

    Bought this book "Frontline Ukraine in epub format" from kobobooks and digital editions will not download it returning the following message:
    ERROR GETTING LICENSE:license Server Communication Problem:E_ADEPT_USER_AUTH
    Kobo help offer no solution.
    I have and still can dowload the other book I purchased some time back using the same method.
    Any suggestions as to how I might download this book would be very welcome.

    Same issue for me and many others
    I had version 1.7 (win 7, 64bit) working fine until this morning.  Books downloaded ok from both local library using overdrive and school library using EBL.  Then one *.ascm file failed to load citing an IO error on network request.
    I followed the instructions at OverDrive | What to do if there is an "IO Error... and this didn't work.  Same error still appeared.
    Next tried upgrading to most recent version of Digital Editions, which migrated in my borrowed books and my authorisation okay.  Tried clearing cache and ensuring every adblock etc still turned off, redownloaded the *.ascm and got a new Check! Activation error....
    I removed my authorisation, then closed, reopened and reauthorised and then cleared files as per Overdrive link above...  now getting
    Unable to download
    Error getting licence. Licence server communication problem.
    E_Adept_Document_Type_Unknown:
    Occurs with book PDF and ePub versions of the *.ascm and is very frustrating!

  • Error getting license. license server communication problem: e_adept_document_type_unknown

    I began this day with ADE 17.2 and tried every proffered solution to no avail. The last suggestion was to update to ADE 3.0.
    The exact error message is:
    Unable to download. error getting license. license server communication problem: e_adept_document_type_unknown
    I have tried completely disabling the firewall (domain, public, private) and the problem persists. I have tried running ADE as system admin with same results.
    I've read all the posts on this forum and it appears no one has found a solution.
    Please note: I do not have a proxy, currently all firewalls disabled, no anti-virus software used.
    Windows 7 SP 1 32 bit home premium
    Firefox 27.0.1
    Shockwave flash 12.0.0.70
    Network connection is wifi home network
    Content to be downloaded is PDF from Google Play Books
    Is there anyone who can offer a solution ....
    UPDATE:
    My husband figured out how to disable the firewall on the router and we tested again (and simultaneiously with software firewall disabled). Still didn't work.
    I also created a Firewall Rule specifically for this application:
    GENERAL
    Name: Adobe Digital Editions 3.0
    [x] Enabled
    Action: Allow the connection
    PROGRAMS AND SERVICES
    This program: [local path to]\DigitalEditions.exe
    Services: apply to all programs and services
    COMPUTERS
    [nothing selected]
    PROTOCOLS AND PORTS
    Protocol type: any
    local port: all
    remote port: all
    ICMP: [default]
    SCOPE
    local IP: any
    remote IP: any
    ADVANCED
    Profiles: domain, public, private
    interface types: [default]
    Edge traversal: defer to application
    USERS
    [defaults]
    Authorized: [nothing entered]
    Exceptions: [nothing entered]
    UPDATE:
    I was reading other posts on similar topics and one of the suggestions was to try OverDrive. Since I already have it, I tried it and received the following error message:
    The specified OverDrive media file "[local path]\AppData\Local\Temp\Seams-Unlikely-epub-2.acsm" is not valid. (The OverDrive media file root element is not valid.)
    According to OverDrive's help forum that means the ACSM file can ONLY be downloaded with ADE!
    http://help.overdrive.com/article/0644/What-to-do-if-you-get-an-ACSM-The-OverDrive-media-f ile-root-element-is-not-valid-error-when-using-OverDrive-Media-Console-for-Windows-or-Mac
    UPDATE
    Have learned we have a WNDR4500 router with built-in firewall which can not be disabled. On the NetGear forums, there was the uninformative suggestion to "use DMZ in the router settings" to disable the firewall. In looking at the settings for our firewall, the nearest screen I could find to resemble that suggestion contained the following:
    [ ] Disable Port Scan and DoS Protection
    [ ] Default DMZ Server [192.168.1.0]
    [ ] Respond to Ping on Internet Port
    [x] Disable IGMP Proxying
    MTU Size(in bytes) 1500 bytes
    NAT Filtering [x] secured [ ] open
    [ ] Disable SIP ALG
    I'm afraid this is beyond the scope of my understanding and have no idea what I should be doing here so have made no changes.

    Adobe Digital Editions Communications Error When Downloading PDF from Overdrive (and maybe elsewhere too):
    If you get an “error getting license server communication problem” message in Adobe Digital Editions:
    1.  Try downloading any of the PDF files from Adobe here: http://www.adobe.com/products/digital-editions/eBook.html
    2.  Now re-download the book from Overdrive
    3.  Enjoy!!
    I figured this out after many, many hours of frustration . .  hope it helps!!

    What I did was deauthorized and reauthorized my ADE, both the device and computer. It worked. I was able to download my books onto my e-reader. Here is a link to what I did Deauthorizing and reauthorizing Adobe Digital Editions 2.0 on your computer and your reader | Washington County Coopera…
    I would think that it shouldn't matter if the ADE is 2.0 or 3.0.

  • Error getting license: License Server Communication Problem: E_STREAM_ERROR: ???

    This is occuring on DRM ebooks. The vendor where I purchased has reset the licenses and I have authorized my computer. Please help...I need to download these books asap. Thanks!

    First thing to try is to deregister and reregister ADE.
    Often needed after ADE reinstall, and I can easily imagine the Win8 upgrade needing it too,
    That isn't the usual message from that issue, but the message does seem to vary for different people.
    ~~~~~
    Sometimes ADE gets its registration/activation confused and in a semi-authorized state.
    Uninstalling and reinstalling does not help, and indeed installation can even trigger this state.
    Unfortunately, it often then gives misleading error messages about what is wrong.
    A common incorrect message informs you that the ID is already in use on another computer and cannot be reused.
    Another is  "E_AUTH_NOT_READY"
    This can often be resolved by completely removing any authorization using ctrl-shift-D to the Library screen on ADE (cmd-shift-D if on Mac).
    Restart ADE, and then reauthorize with your (old) Adobe ID.
    In extreme cases on the mac, the following extra step has helped some people.  Navigate to /Users//Library/Application Support/Adobe/Digital Editions and drag the activation.dat file to the trash. If you are using 10.7, see Access hidden user library files | Mac OS 10.7 Lion. http://forums.adobe.com/thread/1265248?tstart=0
  • Unable to Download Error getting license. Server Communication Problem: E_STREAM_ERROR:
    I have been trying to move over my Google Play book to my Nook device and this message keeps coming up. I followed all instructions from the google help website in order to download the books correctly to my Nook, but this keeps coming up. Any suggestions on why this is happening? What do I need to do to get the books onto my nook?
    I have the same problems on Mac Yosemite: the message is almost the same, except that it ends with: E_ACT_NOT_READY. I did more or less the same maneuvers with no results.Everything worked before the update; now it doesn't.
  • Error getting license License server communication problem: E_LIC_RESOURCE_UNKNOWN
    The subject line contains the error I get when trying to read two e-books that I purchased from MSBDirect.com.  Their initial reply was basically instructions for finding this forum and looking for support.  The support posts that are related to this same error message suggest getting a new link from the seller.  They are refusing to give me a new link, their replies, obvsiouly canned, state that they don't "support" that product any more because it is over a year old.  So, now two books that I paid for are unavailable.
    I have little hope, but is there anything that Adobe support can do to help in this situation?
    Evan
    Unfortunately no.  This error (Resource Unknown) indicates a misconfiguration on the seller's part (specifying the wrong book id in the link they gave you), or on the part of their back end service (giving the seller the wrong book id).   You will need to contact the seller to get support on this, so that they can work it out with their back end provider.
  • I begin a download it stops. Message reads: Error getting License: License Server Communication Problem: E_STREAM_ERROR.
    I have a working internet connection and this has happened multiple times. ADE is up to date, as well. Any assistance would be appreciated.
    I am running a PC with Vista Home Premium.
