Error running utility "Maintain database triggers to circumvent mut tab"

Hi,
I succesfully runned the utility to create the table package, but when running the database triggers utility I receive:
Message
Activity aborted with ORACLE internal errors.
-6502 ORA-06502: PL/SQL: numeric or value error: number precision too large
I tried on a smaller table and that one is running ok. Is there a maximum on e.g. columns to have the utility work proper?
Or is there perhaps the column_name what can be the problem?

Jessica,
It sounds like bug 897808 (HSDUTL). It should be fixed in Headstart 2.1.2 patch 11. Are you sure you installed this? Note that installing patch 12 doesn't install patch 11.
If this is indeed the problem you are running into, the offending statement is located in the package HSU_CCMR (revision 2.1.0.2). Within the procedure add_block the variable l_number_of_lines is declared as a number(2), this should be changed to a number(3).

"Fatal error, run database recovery " when there are no txns to recover.

Hi, all.
I have a DB file containing multiple databases. Without using DBEnvironments, I can open it to get the dbnames. I can open the databases RDONLY,
and see that their contents are correct. I can open them RW, and everything works.
But when I try to create a new one, I get this:

Note that this is in the non-transactional case. There is no Env, and there are no logfiles or __db files. So the error code mystifies me.
Strace shows that the file is opened RW, and read through.

Hmm. Other thing to note:

db_verify: trading.db: DB_VERIFY_BAD: Database verification failed
Not sure how that came about or how to prevent it, but it might have to do wit this issue.

Yes - most like that will be the case
But before you do that, I'd check the hardware also (drivers, firmware, OS patches etc.). If the system is connected to a SAN I would also check the logs of that.

I am getting this error when trying to add data to QUEUE. But after I restart my app, this error does not happen anymore.

Do you know the steps that lead up to this error? Can you reproduce it?
Were there any error messages sent to the error log file? Can you confirm that you have verbose error messages turned on by always initializing one of the error callback interfaces in your environment. This will provide verbose error messages:
DB_ENV->set_errcall, DB_ENV->set_errfile, DB_ENV->set_errpfx, and DB_ENV->set_verbose.
What flags are you using when opening the environment and the database?

DB_RUNRECOVERY:
There exists a class of errors that Berkeley DB considers fatal to an entire Berkeley DB environment. An example of this type of error is a corrupted database page. The only way to recover from these failures is to have all threads of control exit the Berkeley DB environment, run recovery of the environment, and re-enter Berkeley DB. (It is not strictly necessary that the processes exit, although that is the only way to recover system resources, such as file descriptors and memory, allocated by Berkeley DB.)
When this type of error is encountered, the error value DB_RUNRECOVERY is returned. This error can be returned by any Berkeley DB interface. Once DB_RUNRECOVERY is returned by any interface, it will be returned from all subsequent Berkeley DB calls made by any threads of control participating in the environment.
Applications can handle such fatal errors in one of two ways: first, by checking for DB_RUNRECOVERY as part of their normal Berkeley DB error return checking, similarly to DB_LOCK_DEADLOCK or any other error. Alternatively, applications can specify a fatal-error callback function using the DB_ENV->set_event_notify method. Please look in those 16 other stack traces for more details, there should be an actual SQLException if
it's a database problem, and/or the actual bean method that caused the problem.

KritiHi. I am no expert, but it sounds like a problem with the privileges the user
has... The best thing is to step back to a simpler environment. Can you try
connecting to DB2 with a simple program like utils.dbping? Please look at our
driver docs for the DB2 driver, because there are several variations in connect
properties depending on the type of DB2 you are connecting to...

The error concerns these two lines:

statement.execute("INSERT INTO Users(user_id,FirstName,LastName,Email,Login,Password) values (" + stringtoinsert + ");");
In the first line above, you have a string which represents the VALUES which you are inserting. There are 5 values. However in the second line above this is your actual SQL execution you are specifying 6 columns of data. If the column "user_id" is an identity or auto-incrementing field in the database, just remove it from this line. If not then you need to supply the "UserID" into the VALUES.
This should fix the problem.

JVM SIGSEGV error running Java 1.5.0_01 on linux

Three times last week we had the JVM come down hard with a SISSEGV error running our web application. Each crash was on a different machine. The offending thread was always in libnet.so shared library handling either a getHostByAddr() or getLocalHostName() call. I included a portion of one of the JVM dumps below. In the other two cases we are in either an Oracle JDBC driver or a SQL Server JDBC driver (tds).
We are not able to issolate and reproduce this problem at will. This is happening in our QA environment and we are planning to go to production soon. Any ideas or information would be most helpful.
We've just decided to upgrade to Java 1.5.0_04 in the hope it might help this problem. Too early to tell if this is making a difference or not.
The JVM is running Tomcat 5.5.9.
OS:Red Hat Enterprise Linux AS release 3 (Taroon Update 2)

So, we started getting this problem again in production (on 1.5.0_06, even).
Following up on Dan Paum's report, I dug around a little deeper:

Both anyLocalAddress() and loopbackAddress() are synchronized, but not getLocalHostName(). The native code for getLocalHostName() calls gethostbyaddr_r in lieu of synchronization. gethostbyaddr_r is a non-standard, non-portable call that, judging from a brief trawl through Google, has historically been problematic for multi-platform code.
I'm guessing this bug is another such problem.
I extracted Inet4AddressImpl.java from src.zip in the JDK, changed the declaration, compiled, and "updated" the modified version into lib/rt.jar:

So far, so good. I will stress test this over the next few days, and if it works, I'll open a bug in the bug database to get this fixed.

Utility "Maintain default events" fails

Hi,
I try to run the utility "Maintain default events for entities" and it fails with an error log whit the following error
RME-00011: Operation 'ins' on EVENT has failed
Activity aborted with API errors.
I also dicovered that the utility is not aborting on the same point each time. And so when i run the utility several times sometimes it manage to complete successfull.

Error running 9i reports from forms.

i am having problems running 9i reports from a form.
i have installed Oracle 9iDS on a Win XP machine with 256 MB RAM and a Pentium 1.4Ghz processor.
i also have a local Oracle 9i database. i have created several reports that i am trying to run from some forms but all efforts to date have failed.
below is some sample code.

pbranchlist is defined in the form,
repsrv is a report server i installed and explicitly started.
on clicking the button to run the above code, i get a message on the browser status bar as follows
opening http://steve:8888/reports/rwservlet/getjobid11?server=repsrv...
that's it. it stays like that forever and a progress bar showing the status of the operation gets to the halfway mark and stays there for up to 15 minutes.
I eventually halted the operation by clicking the stop button of the browser. The form then becomes totally non-responsive with the mouse indicator changing to the hour-glass shape and a small vertical bar moving rapidly back and forth at the bottom of the form window.
My only recourse then is to explicitly close the browser window.
I have already configured Reports to run in non single sign-on mode by setting SINGLESIGNON=NO in the rwservlet.properties file.
Is there anything i have not done properly?

can you check the Reports cache directory if the Reports file got created? I would assume yes, but better check.
