Error: SAP installation of ERP Sr3 with ORACLE 10g on Windows 2008 server

Dear all,
while installaing SAP ERP SR3 with ORACLE 10g on windows 2008 server...
we are getting error as not support.
please confirm wether this version of OS is uspported or not.
thanking you in all,
by
Animesh

actualy we tried to change Oraparam.ini file in the installation folder...
edited ...  windows= 5.0, 5.1, 6.0
we had entered 6.0
Yes - that is necessary.
and started ... but after starting we are getting ERROR like unKNOWN and installation popup (OUI popup) exiting with .. error popup.
Yes - because Oracle delivers its own Java version - which is too old to run on Windows 2008.
if you suggest us to use 2003 64 bit for temporaray .... purpose.
and is there any specified procedure to UPgrade OS.
like... DB should be updated before OS upgradation.
You can run 10.2.0.4 on Windows 2003 x64 nicely and upgrade to Windows 2008. Since there is no "upgrade" (it is the highest version supported) there´s no need to do anything.
The question you have to ask is:
Why do you need Windows 2008? Is there any technical implication?

  • Install Oracle 10g on windows 2008 Server 64bit

Is it possible to install Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 64bit . I read one post below it says , windows 2008 is not certified for oracle 10g ..
    windows server 2008 Oracle 10G 64 bit
before I installed 32bit , it is throwing error message on alert log file on every 5 seconds.
"OER 7451 in Load Indicator : Error Code = OSD-04500: illegal option specified
    O/S-Error: (OS 1) Incorrect function. ! "
if it is possible which version I want to download is best ..
and what is the recommendation whether it is 10g or 11g

You mean to say Oracle 10g 64bit will not work in Windows 2008..?No, i meaned the post you linked was written in year 2008, in that year it's was a unsupported platform for that oracle version. Actually its supported and you can install it.
Furthermore like Aman told you, It's more recommended install 11gR2 version

  • 2 nodes RAC with Oracle 10g on Windows 2000 server

Hi at all. I want to manage a cluster having 2 nodes on windows 2000 server each of them with Oracle 10g. I have VMWare 5.0. Someone can suggest me a detailed tutorial how to start and built it? Thank you very much for your answers.
    Saverio Sergio Mola

    the cookbooks here:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/tech/linux/vmware/cookbook/index.html
will explain how to install.. however the VMware Workstation product doesn't offer in a supportedway the sharing of two nodes of disks.. there are hacks out there, but they are not very stable. We therefor chose to install two instances on one node to showcase RAC, rather than make it complicated and unstable to use and showcase.
there are also ready made VM's from above page, so u can quickly evaluate it for both Red HAt and SuSE.. when vmware can support such sharing in an easy supported way we might re-evaluate.. until then my personal suggestion is to stick to simple case.. 2 instances on one node.. its easier to copy, snapshot.. etc.
    Enjoy..

  • Oracle 10g on Windows 2008 Server Std. edition

    Hi all
We create two partitions C 80 Gb, D 300 GB on HP Server XEON Dual Processor with 6GB installed with Windows 2008 Std. Edition server 32 Bit
We try to install Oracle 10g 32 Bit - We get the following problems
    a) By default it should take the highest partion i.e d:\oracle\product etc.
but it takes c:\users\administrator\documnets\oracle\product which is wrong
However we correct it by typing the correct path. Brows does not take to D partition
    b) On proceeding further - >Installation aborts and and we get messages
unknowkn , unknown etc. for 3-4 aspects.
Windows 2008 server has service pack 1 installed. We installed Service Pack 2 also but without any benefit. Further we also tried to install after removing all firewall , anitvirus etc. but again of no use.
User connected was administrator while installation of Oracle 10g 32 Windows.
We never get any problem with the same CD /Dump on Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server

  • Installation of oracle 10g by window 2000 Server or Window XP professional

    Dear all
Did you tried installatin of oracle 10g in Window 2000 Server and/or Window XP professional
installation on which one will be more reliable and stable?
As I am choosing which OS will be better as a Server
    please help
    Francis SZE

I don't think XP professional would be recommended as server.
would be better if you use 2000 Server or best if you use 2003 if you like windows environment

My legacy 10g server running on older hardware and Win 2003 works, but is now uncompliant with IA requirements now. We are sandboxing this application. My new server will need to have 2008 on it.

  • Dataguard installation oracle 11gr2 on windows 2008 server

    Hi,
I have oracle 11gr2 database on windows 2008 server. I have been given a primary and secondary server with the same setup.
Now i want to install dataguard. AFter installing i need to test it for disaster recovery.
Can anyone please suggest me a document for this? I searched in this forum but i couldnt get any.
    Please help.

An obvious place to look at is our Online Documentation about Data Guard Installation:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11882_01/server.112/e17022/toc.htm
    See
3 Creating a Physical Standby Database
    there.
There is not much special-Windows for Data Guard - of course you need to create Windows Services for both Databases etc. as described here:

  • Oracle Express and Windows 2008 Server

I successfully installed the Oracle Database 10g Express Edition on our new Windows 2008 Server. However, after install I can not open the Database Home Page in IE 7.0? The problem description I get when I click on the Diagnose Connection is "127.0.0.1" is not set up to establish a connection on port "8080" on this computer.
The server is also a domain controller, DNS server and DHCP server.
Is this version compatible with Windows 2008 Server?
Is it a DNS problem or may be a security problem?
    Heinrich

I have not tried it on Windows 2008. But the challenges with your configuration could be endless. Here are some common issues:
    1) XE must be installed by a local machine administrator, not a domain administrator
    2) XE requires several ports (1521, 8080)
    3) Firewalls and antivirus are known to crash the install
    4) Often 3) will block the installation of the database
Note that XE does not use any form of HTTP listener - the database listener does the bassic work and passes HTTP requests into the database. So no Apache or IIS requires with XE.

  • Install Oracle 10g on Windows 2003 Server cluster (MSCS)

    Hi all
How do I install Oracle 10g on Windows 2000 cluster (MSCS installed)?
I have a 2-nodes Microsoft windows 2003 server cluster and I want to install Oracle 10g,
    Do I folloow this order:
    1. Install the software on both without the database
    2. Create the database from the first node
in this case, The second node can see the database as it is available?,
and what about the IP adresses?
If you can point me to some documentation, or help in any way, I would appreciate it.
    Thanks for any help.

    Read here...
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/html/A96685_01/intro.htm
    >>
Oracle Fail Safe comprises multiple components: Oracle Fail Safe Manager, Oracle Services for MSCS, and server components specific to Oracle Fail Safe.
    >>
So I don't know how you can achieve this without Fail Safe.
There might be other link which I cannot find right now.

  • Developer 6i Installation with Oracle 8i on Windows 2000 Server

    Hi Folks,
We are using Oracle 8i (8.1.7) with Developer 6i for the past 2-3 years. Oracle 8i is installed on Windows 2000 Server and the client machines have Developer 6i installed. Using the Net 8 Easy Configuration Utility, the clients and the server are linked perfectly and we have never experienced any major issue regarding the connectivity from the client’s sides.
Now my question is that, is there any possibility that we can also install Developer 6i on the server, ‘cause we have tried this several times and every time after installing Developer 6i on the server, the Net 8 Easy Configuration Utility does not invokes and obviously we are unable to use any of the Developer 6i products and moreover after installing Developer the already installed 8i Database does not gets mounted and we are also unable to use the database.
Are we missing some basic stuff here or do we need to run some patch for Windows 2000 Server?
Another thing, all our forms and reports are residing on client’s hard disks; can we also have the option that the forms and reports should also reside on the server so that we can easily update our forms and reports definitions from the server side?
    TIA
    Hassan

    Hi,
Yeah, I installed both the products i.e, database and developer in separate directories.

  • Oracle 10g and Windows 2008

I'm trying to install Oracle 10g x86 on Windows 2008 x64. Installation crashes in the beginning with the next error message:
Abnormal program termination. An internal error has occurred. Please provide the following files to Oracle Support:
    "Unknown"
    "Unknown"
    "Unknown"
    Any objections?

What do you mean when you say "I'm trying to install Oracle 10g x86 on Windows 2008 x64" You are trying to install an x86 Oracle edition on a 64 bit OS. This is not certified yet. In fact if you take a look at the certify matrix you will find that the 64 bit platform is not certified yet, but it is planned for this year.
The only available edition so far for Win2008 is x86. Patience is advisable.

  • Install oracle 10g on windows 2003 server issues

I am very new to oracle
I installed oracle 10g release 2 Enterprise Edition on a Win 2003 Server.
I got all oracle services running after install
But I can not connect to the database from another machine which is on the same domain
    I set USE_SHARED_SOCKET =TRUE under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Oracle/HOME
(as I learned from the forum)
I turned off windows firewall (or with the firewall turned on add port 1521 to Exceptions list) .
I restarted listener serivces and I even reboot the machine Still I can not connect to the database from another machine.
    What am doing wrong here?
We are on a tight schedule now any help will be very appriciated.

Firewall-related problems normally throw ORA-12535, not ORA-12170 (the message a timeout occurred is the same). Description for this error is:
    Error:     ORA-12170 (ORA-12170)
    Text:     TNS:Connect timeout occurred
Cause:     The server shut down because connection establishment with a
client failed to complete within the allotted time interval. This
may be a result of network/system delays; or this may indicate
that a malicious client is trying to cause a Denial of Service
         attack on the server.
Action:     If the error occurred because of a slow network/system,
         reconfigure the SQLNET.INBOUND_CONNECT_TIMEOUT parameter in
sqlnet.ora to a larger value. If a malicious client is suspected,
use the address in sqlnet.log to identify the source and restrict
access. Note that logged addresses may not be reliable as they can
         be forged (e.g. in TCP/IP).
Hostname in listener.ora has a domain included, while in tnsnames.ora has not. Y Can you ping the host? Does tnsping work? To get more detailed informations you may turn on tracing on the client side (in sqlnet.ora) and the server sid (in listener.ora).
