Hello PR, no-one (I dare say) likes to see old threads closed many months ago surfacing again because someone has the same problem. I suggest you open a new thread - and link to this one if you please.
Explain your problem in a bit more detail in your new question thread - e.g. which workflow container element you have bound to the rule container, and the rule ID (number) of the rule you are using.
If your error message is exactly the same as in this thread it is sufficient to say so (if you have a link to this thread), otherwise you should include the error message (class/number as well as text is nice to have).

    hi Guprit,
based on my experience you must trace why your workflow is wait.
is it because the workflow is waiting for certain events ?
or is it because of an error occured in the step 3 of the workflow ?
if the worfklow is waiting for certain events, you can force it to continue with triggering the events that workflow wait ( transaction code SWUE )
if an error occured in the step 3 of the workflow, you need to trace it what kind of error .... and for certain case after you fix the error you can continue the workflow by using tcode SWPR and restart the workflow after error.
but unfortunatelly based on my experience, some times the workflow just stuck in the middle of the process and no error occured
it this happens, ussually i re-triggered the workflow
    hopes it helps
    cheers

  • Workflow Error Message: System Account - The Workflow could not set Content Approval Status

This is the first time I try an approval workflow. I am using a template in MS Word and assigned an approval workflow to it. The approval workflow is only going to one person in this case.
When I start the work flow the following 3 error messages show up:
Workflow Error Message: System Account - The Workflow could not set Content Approval Status. Enable content moderation for this list and run the workflow again.
Workflow Error Message: System Account - The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the e-mail has a valid recipient.
Workflow Error Message: System Account - The e-mail message cannot be sent. Make sure the outgoing e-mail settings for the server are configured correctly.
Thank you for your kind guidance.

    Hi,
For the first error: Did you set Content Approval in the workflow?  If so, see if you have it in the versioning settings of the list settings.
For the second error: double check your recipient is set up as being valid.  Did you type in the email address or is it referring to a people picker field?  also, make sure that in the workflow for the email that you actually populated it in the
    To: field.
for the third error: I suspect that either your farm is not configured for email.  Or, this error is a knock on from the second error.  If you get the second error rectified it may clear this error.  If not then double check the email settings
    for your farm.

  • Errors were found when compiling workflow in SharePoint Designer 2010

    Hello there,
I've run into a interesting issue in SharePoint Designer 2010 when publishing a workflow. I now get the below error
Normally when I get this message I simply clear the SharePoint Designer 2010 cache described in this
article, however, in this case the issue still continued. Hence I started the process of trial and error and quickly realized that the Update Item action was the culprit. In this action I am updating approximately 70 columns. Currently, I have two such
actions running in sequence. When I added the third Update Item action to do the same, I started getting this error.
Has anyone else experienced this before? In the workflow I am currently working on I am going to have to using the Update Item action several times and update approximately 70 columns hence I am open to other ideas to do the same.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Entan Ming,
Thanks for your reply, Hope you are aware that while we create any new workflow using SharePoint Designer 2013. There are two ways (We can say Platforms) to create the new workflow 1. SharePoint
    2010 and 2. SharePoint 2013.
If I choose second one I. e SharePoint 2013, and try to create, save and publish workflow it`s working fine. But whenever I select option no. 1  i.e. SharePoint 2010  Platform to create
the workflow, I am able to Create it , save it , but while I try to publish it I got an error:
Errors were found when compiling the workflow. The workflow files were saved but cannot be run.
When I click on Advance I got message:
Unexpected error on server associating the workflow
My question is that, I am not able to publish any workflow in SharePoint 2010 Platform, using SharePoint Designer 2013.
Before publishing a workflow, I click on ‘Check for errors’ button, there was no any error found.
Thanks & Regards Mr. Bajirao Shinde

  • Error -17300 is generated when running selected step

Error -17300 is generated when running selected step (with ot without process model).
    Using TestStand 2.0.1f1
See BMP file for error dialog.
I was trying out the example in the Resource Library - TestStand | Process Models | Running Selected Steps via Execution Entry Point -Test UUTs or Single Pass
(link http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/niepd_web_display.display_epd4?p_guid=B45EACE3E2B756A4E034080020E74861&p_node=DZ52222&p_source=external ). This example is a 1.0.1 example but the web page does say that it should work in 2.0.x
I followed the readme file to use from "Execute" menu:
I have attached the resulant SequentialModel.seq file.
The modifications to the SequentialModel.seq file appears to wo
rk, but when I tried to run 'Run Selected Steps Using' menu item. I got the error message -17300 displayed. (see ErrorScr.bmp attached). The only way to close the execution was to launch Task manager and 'End Task'.
I have attached a small demo sequencefile.
    To try example:
    Move the SequentialModel.seq to 'C:\TestStand\Components\User\Models\TestStandModels'.
Launch TestStand Sequence Editor and open 'Debug Example1.seq'.
This is how to generate error condition-
    1. Run the sequence file from menu Item Execute | Single Pass. You should get a full run with test result, it fails but that doesn't matter.
    2. Select Steps 1 and 3 in Main of MainSequence. Run Selected Steps using Single Pass. Again sequence executes correctly.
    3. Now run the same selected steps using the new menu item Execute | Selected Test(s). Again the sequence executes again.
    4. With Steps 1 and 3 still selected. Run Selected Steps using Single Pass (as in 2 above). This time the error -17300 will be gener
    ated.
I also tried running the sequence first doing step 1 (as above), then step 3, then repeating step 1 and this was ok. So the problem appears to be in interactive only.
Any clues as to whats going on and how to resolve it.

    Hi,
    TestStand 2.0.1f1
Attached is a SequentialModel.seq that will run selected steps in a new execution using the process model. (It started life based on the inital
    demo example)
When either Test UUT's or Single Pass is selected a check is made to determine if there is an initial selection.
If there isn't then the normal Test UUT's or Single Pass sequence is run.
If there is then a new sequence file is created with a new MainSequence. The selected steps are cloned and inserted to the new MainSequence. Also
the Setup and Cleanup groups are also cloned. Likewise the FileGlobal Defaults are copied to the FileGlobals of the new Sequencefile and also the
    Locals.
Any Sequences contained in the SequenceFile are cloned to the new sequencefile (except the MainSequence, SequenceFileLoad and SequenceFileUnLoad).
In addition, as the Steps are cloned any break point are also set in the new sequence file.
The new sequence file is executed in a new execution using the process model entry point with the break on first step controlled from the menu
    option.
One thing I am assuming is that there is only one element in the RunState.InitialSelection.SelectedSequences array.
Question: Under what circumstances will there be more than one selected sequence?
I had one problem, I tried my SequentialModel.seq with the demo auto.seq. This contains the SequenceFileLoad and SequenceFileUnload.
When I run this demo with a few steps selected, it run ok but when I closed the results window the UnloadFile callback was executed.
I found an option that can be set with the Engine.ReleaseSequenceFileEx which should have stopped the UnloadFile callback from running. But it
    made no difference.
I then came across SequenceFile.UnloadCallbackEnabled() and using this function it did disable the Unload callback and this worked.
Question: So, Why didn't setting the Option in the Engine.ReleaseSequenceFileEx work?
    Limitation using this SequentialModel.seq,
    1) Any precondition to a step's execution based on the result of an early steps are not check when cloning the selected steps. Therefore this has
to be done manually when making the selection.
    2) All Sequences in the SequenceFile are cloned to the new sequencfile. (May not be a problem when SequenceFile contains only a few sequences.)
    3) The selections are limited to the MainSequence. If steps are selected in a Subsequence then these would be copied to a new MainSequence and
this would be run. Providing this doesn't require any parameters passed from the original caller then this should still run. The problem will
    arise if parameters are required.
    4) This is not really a limitation - If a full run of the SequenceFile using Test UUT's or Single Pass is required then the user must ensure no
    steps are selected.
What I whould like to happen is the ability to make a selection in SubSequence calls either one or two levels down from the MainSequence. The new
execution setup would contain those steps in the MainSequence that are required to call those selected steps in the lower levels.
Would welcome any comments on my SequentialModel.seq attached and answers to my questions.

  • Problem in Workflow matching step

    Hi,
I am facing a problem in Workflow matching step. I have user kaushikb assigned to it.
Execution Type: Any Single, Assignee Type: User and Execution Type: Any Single.
Match Record Scope: Records vs Records, Strategy: MDM_NAME.
    This Strategy: MDM_NAME is based on 3 rules: MDM_NAME1, MDM_NAME2 and MDM_NAME3.
MDM_NAME1 is done based on transformations MDM_NAME1[XFM], MDM_NAME2[XFM] and MDM_NAME3[XFM].
Now my problem is even after matching and merging a large number of records it is not going to
the next step. Do I need to match and merge all duplicate records? If the Matching process is rerun
the score becomes less as the same records are compared again. After this the link assume gets activated and then clicking it activates the next step.
    Regards
    Kaushik Banerjee

    Hi Kaushik,
Match step is an Automated step in the MDM workflow. On selecting this step you need to mention the strategy that needs to run on the records to match them. When you reach the Match step you need to Perform the step to run the mentioned Strategy .
When you Perform the Match step it will display the Matching result provided you select the Matching mode in MDM data manager.
You can merge or not merge the matched records Once your Matching is performed by the system, You can move your Workflow to the Next step which is Process.
When you are selecting Any single as your execution type it means you have more tahn one user for executing this task but you want any single one of them to perform it.
So whenever you have selected Any single as the excution type for any process .The user accepting to perfrom the task needs to Accept the task .
So when User1 wants to perform the task he will have to select Accept and then proceed with the task.
When the owner of the workflow is testing the entire workflow he needs to Assume the task as he is not the Assigned user but the Assumed one.
So if you have build your workflows correctly and moving in step as explained you should be able to select the next step
You can follow the below link to understand the process better:

  • CAT2 & CATS - An error occurred on starting the workflow

We have just finished upgrading from 4.6c to 6.0.
Now, whenever we try to enter time using CAT2, we get an error when saving which states "An error occurred on starting the workflow."
And when we try to enter time using ESS via the portal, we get a message which states unable to save data.
I'd just like to enter some time.
Any ideas on how I can resolve this?

    Hi Jefferson,
I had the same problems before with 6.0 below is the link from sap library about details of the task.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/64/4003e1470211d189720000e8322d00/frameset.htm
Use these tasks in your data entry profiles in the configuration via IMG Activity in transaction SPRO->Cross-Application Components->Time Sheet->Specific Settings for CATS Regular->CATS regular->Record Working time->Set Up Data Entry Profiles.
Take note that you still have to tick the with workflow box and you use these task here.
Now if everything is ok with the time entry and approval for other users check the data entry profile that the user uses in CAT2, it may not be the data entry profile that you have set-up in the IMG.
Also, check the org structure if you have approvers for the CAT user (tcode PPOME). Note that there is no escalation present in these task so if an approver in the org structure is missing it does not get to the next approver.
Although SAP documentation says that the opwrkflow is optional although you have the task this also causes the problem, so it is betther to disable the workflow and use the recommended task.
    Use this link: http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/04/928ad246f311d189470000e829fbbd/content.htm
as the above link is for CATS in general

  • Workflow start step performs Exclusive checkout

We need to upload data to records that are in workflow and checked out by the workflow start step.  Unfortunately the workflow start step performs an Exclusive checkout of the record which means that the background MDM Impor Server user cannot automatically join the checkout, the user first needs to be invited to the checkout, which needs a manual step of modifying the join permissions of the checkout, which is not what we want to do.
I have also noticed that when an existing record is checked out Exclusively the user's roles are pulled through into the permitted roles section of the join permission screen of the checkout.  When a new record is checked out Exclusively the user's roles are not pulled through to the permitted roles section of the join permission screen of the checkout.  This looks like a bug to me.
We are using MDM 7.1 SP08.
Please advise any workarounds to this problem.  I can think of a few, but none are very elegant, e.g.:
    1. Use API to invite import user to checkout before import is started (requires coding)
    2. Get the user that owns the workflow to manually invite the import user (not guaranteed to remember)
    3. Complete workflow and stat new wokflow without chekout before import is started.
    Any advice will be appreciated.

    Hi Johann,
    I got you point.
Its not a bug in MDM these are the constraints in MDM :(.
To understand more read section CHECKOUT AND WORKFLOW FAILURE CONDITIONS of the import manager refernce guide.
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nwmdm71/helpdata/en/4b/72b8e7a42301bae10000000a42189b/MDMImportManager71.pdf
In our lanscape we too have a scenario where we are creating/ records in MDM leaving Material Number Blank (Record Add workflow).
But once this record with balnk Material Number is syndicated to source system we stop this workflow.
Now from source system through change pointer we get a file immediately with material Number and MDMID.
which we process through MDIS and trigger another workflow(Record Import)
I guess this matches with the third option you described to start and stop workflow and trigger import.
