Error sending selection to soundtrack pro

Ok, I can NEVER send an audio file to soundtrack pro without this annoying error. Now, I have regular video and the audio attached. I cant send it is a seperate audio file because it's greyed out...
Only option is multitrack, and how do I get it to work?

I repeated my experiment of creating a multi-track Soundtrack project from FCP. I tried it with 3 different projects, selecting both clips and sequences, and it worked fine every time.
What have I learned from this?
1) it was reported that a shortage of disk space could account for the error that I was having. This time I made sure there was plenty of disk space and it worked. That does not mean that disk space was necessarily the original problem, but at least I have something definite to watch out for next time.
2. It was suggested that I replace the clip with a QT movie before the "Send To" or create a new project. No description of what problems these would solve was offered. I guess that they would solve problems associated with corrupted clips or corrupted project files. Unfortunately, I can't say if that was my problem or not, because I didn't recall exactly which clip I tried the first time, and the project has probably been changed many times since that initial experiment.
3. it was suggested that permission problems might be involved, but not enough details were offered for me to construct a meaningful experiment.
4. My original questions were "how do I get FCP to articulate" and "how do I guess what it's upset about?" No suggestions were offered for the former question. FCP is as taciturn as it was before. I do now have a few new guesses, but since I was unable to reproduce the failure, I can't use them.
I hope that Apple will improve FCP's diagnostic messages to be more illuminating.

  • Final Cut Pro Studio (Sending Audio To Soundtrack Pro Error) No Video

I get error promp when sending (un-linked, no stereo pair) audio clips to soundtrack pro multi-track project. The selection will only go into Soundtrack Pro if I un-check the video check box.
I can, however, send an audio clip as a Soundtrack Pro audio file. The video works fine.

Boy, there are a lot of things I'm just not getting today.
Product endorsements are supposed to generate some cash or other consideration, no? When was the last time you saw painted on the side of a house "Hammers made by Craftsman" or "Nails from Home Depot?"
And why do people wear clothes with logos all over them? Nobody's paying them for it!
And how come realtors always plaster their faces everywhere?
    Oh well.

  • No Video when using the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" Command

    Hello FCP Users,
After reading and rereading the FCP and STP manuals and scouring the boards; I still can not figure out how to view my video clip while I'm editing/sweetening audio in STP. I have even used the DVD tutorial in an attempt to figure it out (all works fine and good with the tutorial example), but I'm stuck here the real world.
I'm thinking their must be some preference setting somewhere in STP that I've missed. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!!
    Best regards,
    Jeff
    From the Manual:
Soundtrack Pro creates a new audio file project (with the file type .stap) for the clip. The clip can contain video and audio or contain only audio.
In the Final Cut Pro Timeline, Control-click the clip, then choose “Send To >
Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project” from the shortcut menu."

    Rob,
The audio consists of two separate audio tracks A1 is from a lav mic and A2 is from an on-camera mic.
    It was captured DV.
If I rt click the video clip in the "video tl" the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" in the dialog box is grayed out/not available for selection, but the Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program is available to select.
If I choose to Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program I get the following an error message: Error sending selection to Soundtrack Pro.
I've tried de-selecting the "linked selection" in the tl and rt click the audio clip in the "audio tl" and that allows me to "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" , but no video in the utility window of STP.
If I select the "linked selection" in the tl and rt click the audio clip in the "audio tl" the "Send To Soundtrack Pro Audio File" in the dialog box is grayed out/not available for selection, but the Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program is available to select.
If I choose to Send To Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Program I get the following an error message: Error sending selection to Soundtrack Pro.
It looked all so simple in the tutorial. I'm going on five hours of trying to find an answer to this issue any other suggestions before I slit my wrists? Thanks for your input.

  • Sending a Subclips audio from Final Cut to Soundtrack Pro

After reading the manual very carefully, I am still unable to send audio to SoundTrack Pro Effectively.
When I have Several clips in a sequence (or even just one) I can select "Send to Multitrack Project." However, even when selecting a single clip from either the browser, or on the timeline "send to audiofile project" is always greyed out, and at this stage in my audio work that's what I need to do! I'm trying to remove background noise, and do other various post work to individual clips.
I have discovered that if I unlink the audio and video, I can send either the right, or left track of the audio to SoundTrack Pro as an audiofile project. The audio was recorded as mono on two tracks and captured on an XL2 as DV Footage.
Can someone please point me in the right direction as to what I need to do? Thanks.

    Jonathan:
You can only send single tracks to "audio file projects."
Try saving the two tracks you want to send as a stereo pair.

  • Sync problems when sending to soundtrack pro

I am currently having a problem with a mono track audio/video clip sliding out of sync when I send it to soundtrack pro as referenced file only with 10 sec handles. When I send the entire clip the sync problem doesn't occur.
I have used soundtrack pro before and never encountered this problem.
    I'm on FCP 6.0.3.
    Thanks.

Turns out the audio needed to be linked to the .motn sequence.

  • Unable to launch Soundtrack Pro 2.0.1 (Fresh Install)

I've just installed Logic Studio on a clean installation of Leopard (10.5.1) on my dual 2ghz G5. For some reason Soundtrack Pro 2.0.1 immediately quits upon launch with the error *"The application Soundtrack Pro quit unexpectedly."*
I've attempted to reinstall only Soundtrack Pro 2 from the Logic Studio disc, but this does not resolve the issue.
Prior to installing Logic Studio, I had installed Final Cut Studio 1 (which included Soundtrack Pro version 1), so I don't know if this prior installation in some way conflicted with it.

If anyone has any ideas or suggestions it would be much appreciated!

    I've figured it out!
I'm posting the solution here in hopes that it will help out anyone else who may be running into this issue.
For some reason the Logic Studio installer was not installing the ProAppsMetaDataSupport framework needed by Soundtrack Pro 2. This may have to do with my previous existing installation of Final Cut Studio 1, which contained Soundtrack Pro 1 and Compressor 2.3.1.
Here's what I did to remedy my issue...
    1) Delete all Soundtrack Pro 1.x system files
    2) Delete all Compressor & QMaster files (for directions, see:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302845
    3) Upon running Logic Studio, I noticed that though I could install Soundtrack Pro 2, the option to install Compressor was grayed out and indicated 'Skip'. I quite the installer and realized it was necessary to install Compressor directly using the package file.
    4) On the Logic Studio disc, control-click the *Install Logic Studio* icon and select *Show Original*. This will take you to a hidden folder containing all of the individual installation packages.
    4) To install Compressor first, open Compressor.mpkg
    5) After I installed Compressor, I chose to run the main Logic Studio installer, and chose to install Soundtrack Pro.The installation for Soundtrack Pro should run normally, and it should install the ProMetaDataframework automatically.
I also did notice that the installation packages folder did contain an entry for ProAppsMetadataSupport.pkg, so you may be able to run this if it for some reason doesn't install.
After this, both applications finally launched perfectly! Ok, time for bed.

  • Can't export audio from FCP to Soundtrack Pro

I'm running FCP 5.0.2 and have Soundtrack Pro 1.0. I'm trying to export audio tracks from a long FCP project I'm working on to ST Pro to clean them up. As shown in Apple's online demo videos, I want to export an audio track and then remove 'pops' and do noise reduction, etc. In FCP I right click the audio track I want and go down to 'Send To' but the option for "Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project" is grayed out and I can't click it.
If I unlink the tracks and then right click the audio track and 'Send To', the "Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project" isn't grayed out and looks like it would work. But that is only highlighting one audio track, not the other stereo track and not the video track. In the demo video all three were highlighted but when I relink all tracks and try to 'Send To' I get the grayed out "Soundtrack Pro Audio File Project" again.
Is there something I need to do or a step I'm missing.

You might be onto something Randy. I noticed in the Timeline if I tried to send an imported .AIF music clip to 'Soundtrack Pro Audio Project' it would allow it and the option wasn't grayed out. So I looked in my Browser window and checked out the file attributes to every clip which are listed to the right of the names. Sure enough, under the AUDIO column the .AIF music files are listed as '1 Stereo' and the rest of my captured video clips are listed in the AUDIO column as '2 Mono'.
So was there a setting for me to choose during Log and Capture that would have made them '1 Stereo' as opposed to '2 Mono'? Or is this a preference setting somewhere to change that for next time? They were recorded on my camera in stereo I'm pretty sure.
Now in terms of the massive project I've already captured and edited, should I be able to export these mono tracks individualy and fix them as needed? When I click the 'Send to' 'Soundtrack Pro Audio Project File' for these single mono tracks it asks me to 'Save' the file somewhere, is there a proper place to do this or just anywhere on the HD?
    Thanks

  • Final Cut Pro Soundtrack Pro - Project linking issue

    hi hello there,
I've completed an edit in final cut. I click on the project and send it to soundtrack pro (multi track project)
I follow the instructions (send with baseline video ref)
Final Cut works it's magic and up pops Soundtrack Pro with the sequenced timeline and the video ref.
I make all my changes and save.
Flip back to final cut and nothing.
    nothing!
No updated audio. no additional timelines. just the same project file i started with in Final Cut.
So now i have to export a self contained edit of the audio and import it to Final Cut to get the job out on time.
No ideal as i've got to make changes to the cut.
    Any ideas?
I'd really appreciate it if anyone knows and can let me know.
I had the same problem with Colour. Did the corrections. sent back to Final Cut and nothing. That was for a previous job which ended up going really tits up because of it. I've not used Colour since.
    any ideas?
    thank you thank you
    Nick

Sounds to me like you need to perform a clean install... i.e. erase and install of OS, and reinstall it all from the ground up.
If you've not done this (especially when you upgraded to Leopard) it's time.

  • FCP & Soundtrack Pro

I'm trying to send my audio from FCP time to Soundtrack Pro, it doesn't give me an option to send it to SOUNDTRACK PRO AUDIO FILE PROJECT, does anyone else have this problem. I like to fix my audio by using Soundtrack Pro, I saw an entry like mine in Soundtrack Pro but so far, noone has any answers to the same inquiry.
    many thanks in advance.
    kchen

I tried what Kevan suggested, change my audio settings and when sending the clip from inside FCP to Soundtrack, the option of SoundTrack Pro Audio Project remains GREY. I also tried copying the same clip and creating a new sequence, then sending that clip through fcp to Soundtrack pro, that option remains grey.
however, when I open Soundtrack pro independently, and then open the original Qtime file of that clip, I am able to see it in waveform. This is not productive because I'm fixing the audio in the original clip, no the clip I am using in my sequence. This is a mystery. I've sent clips from FCP before - there was no problem. Recently I upgraded to 5.1.4 and now experiencing this obstacle.
I will attempt the FCP rescue and will post an update for anyone else experiencing this problem.
    Thanks for your continuing input.

  • Error sending multi-track project back to Final Cut Pro, can't open XML

I am an experienced Final Cut Pro user but just tried using Soundtrack Pro for the first time on a real project. I sent the audio from my Final Cut sequence to a Soundtrack Pro multi-track project, added a few effects and created some fade-ins and fade-outs, and then tried to Export back to Final Cut.
I selected "File > Export", named my file and selected "After Export > Send files to Final Cut Pro sequence."
Now in Final Cut an error appears that says "The document “Name.xml” could not be opened. Final Cut Pro cannot open files in the “Final Cut Pro XML File” format."
Am I crazy or is something wrong happening here? I can get the exported audio files to appear in my sequence if I select "File > Import > XML" in Final Cut, but after this whole process Final Cut seems to be functioning unreliably (after closing Final Cut and re-opening, I even once got a similar error that said "Final Cut cannot open files in the Final Cut Pro Project File format", which is obviously crazy).
Am I doing something wrong? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    hi,
i have the same situation. expirienced in fcp, new in soundtrack pro.

  • Problem sending timeline from Final Cut to a Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project

    Hello,
Thank you in advance for reading.  I am having trouble sending a timeline from Final Cut to a Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project.  Final Cut makes a new Soundtrack Pro project file just fine and opens Soundtrack Pro as it's supposed to, but the project in Soundtrack Pro only has a portion of my audio tracks.  I've tried sending by control clicking the sequence in the browser and selecting 'Send to Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project' as well as highlighting my entire timeline and doing the same.  Both result in the same Soundtrack Pro proejct with about 1/3 of my total 48 audio tracks (lots of sound FX).
I'm using Final Cut 7.0.2 and Soundtrack Pro 3.0.1  My computer is a Macbook Pro running OS 10.6.8, 2.26 ghz intel core 2 duo, 4 gb ram.
Any suggestions (or workarounds, if it comes to that) anyone has will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks again, Gabe

Try building the project to your desktop and then open the Video_TS in the Mac DVD player application.
How does it play/sound?  This application is the best way to see and hear how your burned DVD should play vs. just using simulator and burning.
Just to clarify- are you taking your FC QT file into Compressor and creating a MPG-2 and AC3 file or are you bringing your FC QT directly into DSP?
What codec are you exporting from FC? ProRes422, DV, H264?
Open the FC QT in QT and apple+I to see this.
What does it say for audio?

  • Send to Soundtrack Pro Multitrack Project - All I get are empty tracks

I have a sequence in Final Cut Pro that has a collection of clips and sequences inside of it. When I right click the sequence in the browser and select Send To -> Soundtrack Pro Multitrack project, it opens STP as it should. When STP opens, though, I have a correct video track, but all of the audio tracks are completely empty.
Am I doing something wrong here?

select the sequence in the browser and then send to STP
make sure the in & out are set correctly on the timeline

  • Error with automator & soundtrack pro

I'm trying to make a workflow that will take a finder selection of apple loops (including a folder) and open them with soundtrack pro and save as... AIFF files. I'm getting an error on the last step no matter what I do. I originally thought the aiff file options had to match the .caf attributes (i.e. same sample rate, bit depth, etc.) but fixing that doesn't seem to help.
    Here's the error log:
2009-01-27 10:59:12 -0500: The action “Get Selected Finder Items” was not supplied with the required data.
2009-01-27 10:59:12 -0500: Get Selected Finder Items completed
    2009-01-27 10:59:13 -0500: Open Finder Items completed
    2009-01-27 10:59:13 -0500: (null) failed
An error occurred while converting \U201Ccom.apple.applescript.alias-object\U201D to \U201Ccom.apple.soundtrackpro.document.audiofile-object\U201D.
So here's what's weird: I keep getting this “Get Selected Finder Items” was not supplied with the required data," but the results shows the file I have selected in the file, and subsequent steps in the workflow show the selected file being passed correctly… so I'm not really sure what the problem is. I've written other workflows with the GSFI object and haven't seen this error before, so if anyone has an idea, I'd love to hear it.
    Thanks much.

and the applescript alias of the file I'm working with is:
    {alias "Macintosh HD:Library:Audio:Apple Loops:Apple:Apple Loops for Soundtrack Pro:Apple Loops:Andy Boretto:beepsandclicks1.caf"}
One other note - just to double-check, I deleted the "open w/ soundtrack, save as" actions and replaced them with "copy file, rename file" and the workflow completes without a problem– BUT I'm still getting the "“Get Selected Finder Items” was not supplied with the required data" error, so I'm still not sure what's going on there.

  • Error message in Soundtrack Pro

When I try to send a clip from FCP to Soundtrack Pro to clean up the audio I keep
getting this complicated error message that is way over my head.
This has happened over two different projects. So, it is not the project file that is corrupted.
Any clue or suggestion would be much appreciated.
