This error can appear when the computer that Zune is installed on is connected to a Public network location. The Public network location blocks certain programs and services from running to help protect your computer from unauthorized access while you're connected to a network in a public place. If you're connected to a public network and Windows Firewall is turned on, some programs or services might ask you to allow them to communicate through the firewall so that they work properly.
If your computer is connected to a Public network this behavior is normal and you need to allow the Zune program and the Zune Wireless Configuration Service to communicate through your firewall. If your computer is actually connected to a network at work or at home (or a network you trust) then:
Open the Network and Sharing Center by clicking the Start button, and then clicking Control Panel. In the Search box, type "network", and then click Network and Sharing Center.
Click Public network and then click Work network or Home network.
For a Zune player, try to configure it manually. To do this, follow these steps:
Start the Zune software.
Connect the Zune player to the computer.
Click Settings, click Device, and then click Wireless Sync.
Click Set Up Wireless Sync, and then click Show Advanced Settings.
Enter the name of the wireless network (SSID).
Select a network type.
Click Next.
Enter a network key, password, or a passphrase if you're prompted, and then click OK.
Click Finish.
Note Make sure that the SSID and your password are typed correctly when you configure the Zune player for wireless sync in the Zune software.

  • Do i have to plug my phone in to my pc to wireless sync set up

Due to the fact i am very unlucky, i have had my iPhone exchange because i had a fault with it and now my PC USB ports will not pick up the iPhone so i can not sync with my iTunes, i have tested an iPhone 4 with my computer and it works fine and my iPhone 4s works fine with other computers and it works fine but my full back up is on my computer. and clearly i don't have a cloud back up because i cant afford to pay for the space i needed, can anyone tell me any way that i would be able to get around this issue because all i can find is plugging the phone in to set up wireless sync and this is clearly not an option (gutted!!!).
Any help would be great thank you

To change to wireless syncing you do have to be connected to your computer at first, from then on you can sync wirelessly.  You're going to need to find a way for your computer to recognize your iPhone in order to set it for wi-fi syncing.
But your comment about cloud backup is not correct, you don't have to pay for iCloud (you're thinking of the "iTunes Match" service using iCloud).  You can set up an iCloud account for free and set your iPhone to do its backups to iCloud rather than your computer.  The wireless sync (assuming you can get it going) will interface with your computer, but your backup would be sent to iCloud.  However, assuming you can get wi-fi syncing going, you can also backup to your computer over wi-fi.

  • ITunes wireless sync and Remote App not working in in unison.

I'm running iTunes on a Windows 8 machine, and I'm having issues getting both these above mentioned applications working together.
I did have some issues in the beginning with setting up wireless sync for my iPhone, but these were fixed by restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service that runs in the background.
The remote application seemed to have similar issues in the beginning, so I tried restarting the Apple Mobile Device Service - and this seemed to help, but then wireless sync faulted again.
After having a bit more of a read, I made sure UPnP was enabled across the board - in my PC and router, SSDP on my PC was changed to automatic mode, all bonjour services were confirmed running and there and I couldn't see any funky rules in my firewall that may be causing me issues.
I did find though, that both the remote app and the wireless sync functions operate on the same ports; TCP port 3689 and UDP port 5353. I'd imagine if this would be a problem, it would have been picked up - but I can't find any solid info to disregard this thought. Can anyone confirm or deny that this could be an issue?
    Any other ideas? Cheers.

  • Trouble with wireless sync settings for Yahoo Calendar/Contacts

    Hello,
Today I attempted to sync my Yahoo Calendar and contacts with my Tour.  I was able to get it to synchronize when I connect it to the computer, but I intended to set up wireless sync.
If I go to the Calendar, and then select Options, I can see my email address under "Calendars." If I highlight and select my e-mail address,  I can see the "Wireless Synchronization" option, but it says "No" next to it, and will not allow me to accept "Yes"--- it's just not an option.
    How do I fix this?!
Thanks so much for any suggestions.

I also have the Tour and have the same problem....Did you ever figure it out?

  • Wireless sync - address book

I am using Desktop Manager 4.7 and having problems setting up wireless sync for my address book. When I try to set up wireless sync, I go into options, desktop Wireless sync says not available, and I cant change to yes or no. I have reset the config in desktop manager
Tasks etc are setup ok - but address book is an issue

Our company specializes in wireless BlackBerry sync - using your original BB contacts/calendar/notes/tasks.
A plugin is installed on the BlackBerry, and one in Outlook. The installation/configuration takes no longer than approximately 1 minute, and after the initial process, it runs seamlessly in the background, without any user intervention.
    The sync occurs like this:
    1) BB to our server
    2) Outlook to our server.
Our servers are in the midpoint of all syncing - that way, neither the BB/Outlook needs to be on at the same time. We also have a webmail interface to access your contacts/calendar/notes/tasks online.
You can also sync an unlimited # of BlackBerries with an unlimited # of PC's, provided that the data you want synced between them are the same. Thus, there are several uses of our product - some users use it to simply sync two computers together, some use it to sync corporate BlackBerries together etc.
    Features:
Sync your BlackBerry with outlook Wirelessly
    Sync contacts/calendar/notes/tasks
Online Web Access for Synced Data
Complimentary Full Service Email Hosting (10GB)
    Simple 1 minute install
Daily Backups of all data / and the ability to restore
24 hour technical support via phone and email
Ability to sync multiple BlackBerries and PC's together
    Minimum Requirements:
BlackBerry with OS 4.2.1 or greater
    Microsoft Outlook 2003 or greater
    Windows 2000 or greater

  • Wireless Sync: No need for power?

I set up wireless sync successfully on my 4S.  However, it seems that even when the phone is NOT plugged in, it tries to sync.  I am not sure how often it is doing this, i just randomly was in iTunes and saw the icon for my phone and the sync animation icon turning.  The phone was in my pocket!  My battery is draining very quickly while syncing, so I had to turn it off.  Anyone else get this?

That's true, it happens to my iPhone 4 intermittently.
It's funny because when the iOS 5 first came out (along with iPhone 4S) it indicated that wireless syncing will be available only if the phone is plugged to power, which wasn't to my liking since the word "wireless" implies no wires (including power) in my dictionary.
However, lately I've been noticing my iPhone icon under devices in iTunes, I don't know if Apple has any explanation!

  • I have itunes set up to sync with my Ipod Touch and my Ipad.  As of today, it keeps looking for an iPhone to sync with and give me an error message.  I don't have an iPhone and don't know how to stop it from popping open with this error message.

I have Itunes set up to sync with my Ipod touch and Ipad.  As of today, iTunes has started searching to sync with an iPhone, which I don't have and pops open with an error message stating it cannot locate the iPhone to sync.  I have looked in devices and only the iPad and iPod Touch are listed.  Any ideas on how to stop iTunes from searching for any iPhone it is never going to find? It is annoying to have it popping up all the time with the error message.  Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

You should really read the manual.
"How do you restore from backup? "
Restore.  When given the choice, choose to use backup.
"And how can I check to see if the pics and videos are on my computer somewhere first??"
They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

  • Unknown error when trying to set up Firefox Sync

I try to set up Firefox Sync but as I fill in my e-mail address on the first line i first get the message "invalide e-mail account" (or similar) but then when I continue to complete it with [email protected] it just says "unknown error". I have tried several different e-mail addresses on two different computers but the same annoying unknown error message keeps coming up.
What am I supposed to do about that?

  • Wireless Sync PC Download Install Error 1603

I had successfully installed Wireless Sync on my Centro and used it for several months.  Then I had to uninstall it.  I believed that I had uninstalled it from both my phone and PC.  Now I have been trying to re-install it on my PC for several weeks and keep getting an error message # 1603.  I believe that it is due to the incorrect "path" of the installation, yet there is not a way to change the "location" of the download as the button is grayed out.  Can anyone help me download the Wireless Sync software for PC?  Thanks in advance.

As far as I know, all software is up to date.

I have a MAC computer with Sync. Was set up under sync Beta. I have an Android phone synced to it that was synced using the pair this device function. It works perfectly. I just got a new Android Tablet and am trying to add it to my sync and it does not seem to have the pair my device function. It insists I log into my sync account. So I try it and it tells me invalid userid/password. I verify and it is the exact email address userid that shows as being my sync account on the MAC. I verify the password on the MAC and it tests out fine. Try the tablet again and invalid.. So I try to reset my password on the tablet and am told my email address/account name does not exist. I just verified it AND Synced my MAC using it!! I have my recovery Key but there is no place to input it into the tablet. There is no place on tablet to enter the link device codes. How can my account be valid and in use on two devices but invalid and nonexistant on the new one? And How do I get the New one to sync with other two?

  • Syncing ACT contacts while on automatic wireless syncing with Microsoft Exchange Server?

Does anyone know if this is possible? At the moment, my company is automatically performing a wireless sync between Outlook contacts and their Blackberry Curve 8330 devices. However, employees that travel also need their ACT contacts on their phone. I've researched CompanionLink and know that I can get the ACT contacts directly onto the Blackberry that way, but, the problem arises where the ACT contacts will end up syncing back to the Exchange server -- which we don't want. We want to keep the automatic syncing with Outlook, but periodically we want to do a one-way ACT transfer onto our Blackberries, without having those extra (approximately 5,000) contacts go back into Outlook. Is there an easy way to categorize/separate Outlook and ACT? Any ideas or workarounds?

80072ee2. This is probably a basic question but the server you enter into the Microsoft Exchange settings in active sync is the mail server you have in Outlook 2007? eg mail.internode.on.net. I don't need to do anything to outlook 2007 to "activate" Microsoft Exchange.
I'm looking at the Internode setup guides and it looks as though you have a POP server. In that case, if you want to sync directly to the server, you would want to set it up for POP/SMTP rather than for Microsoft Exchange Server. Does that help?
If you do not want to sync over the air and instead want to sync only by USB/Bluetooth to your PC, I think that works quite differently. I don't have any experience with that.
(Edit: Changed link style so it was more obvious.)

  • Wireless sync only works when I unlock phone. Is there a way to tell itunes my phones unlock code?

Wireless sync only works when I unlock phone. Is there a way to tell itunes my phones unlock code? Itunes tries to sync all night and posts 50 unknown errors. I unlock the phone and it syncs. I dont want my phone sitting around without a lock code but with wireless sync I cant find a place to tell itunes my code so it can sync? Any help is appreciated... Ray O

I have the same problem. I am forced to have a PIN set on my devices because I use my corporate exchange email and sync over wi-fi initially fails until I manually unlock the phone/ipad.  #ckuan needs to read the words wiritten.  We know how it's supposed to work but it won't start until you enter the PIN. Until then I get error messages saying either it cannot find the phone or explicitly telling me I need to unlock it.

  • Cant restart wireless sync when unexpectedly lose wireless connectivity

    Hi,
Have encountered an issue with wireless sync which is driving me nuts. If i happen to lose wireless connectvity during sync (eg i take my iphone with me when i leave the house while it is syncing), when i return the wireless sync will not restart until i have rebooted the pc. If i check the PC it is wireless syncing with, it has thrown a modal dialog saying "Required disk cannot be found". I clear this but the iphone will not recognise wireless sync is available and the sync button on the iphone remains grey. Super annoying as i run the pc headless so a pain to have to keep on rebooting it. Any suggestions as to how to fix or avoid ?
What is  iTunes doing throwing modal dialogs anyway, especially with something background in nature like a wireless sync. Must be some legacy code. Please fix Apple !!

  • Wireless sync with multiple devices? + related q

Does anyone know what happens if you have multiple devices (with different content - but using the same library) set up on automatic wireless sync? My husband has successfully set up his iPhone to sync, but I'm nervous of doing the same for my iPad in case it causes some kind of conflict if they're both trying to sync at the same time.
I've searched and couldn't find anything about this.
Also does anyone know what happens if you shut down iTunes/the PC while a device is syncing in this way? My husband often plugs his iPhone into his alarm clock to charge while I'm still working on the PC, so it's doing the auto sync when he does that. If I don't notice and shut down the PC before it's finished, will that cause a problem?
    Cheers

Thank you a lot Jolly Giant, and I have manual sync.
It seems that there is no way to keep an older version of the same app. Is this correct? I never directly replaced older version with newer version, but I suppose it did so when I did "transfer purchases" from iPad. Then it synced the app on older iPod, and it's not really like I have a choice: if I check its name, it syncs and I have the newer version which does not work. If I uncheck, it removes it from the device altogether.
Does not iTunes realize that I have two devices? Both are registered, etc. etc. can it not keep track of minimal system requirements? In fact it appears it's worse than this, older version are totally not allowed, even if someone has by chance the older file, iTunes will not allow.
And it is not like I have a legacy device, this iPod, even though it can not even run the latest iOS (that is, Apple dropped support after 4.2.1 on Nov 22, 2010), was sold new, and not for a cheap price, not so long ago.... btw branded as "third generation" (not everyone is familiar with hardware specs and technical sheets).
The problem will worsen the day my iPad will eventually abandon 4.2.1 in favor of a newer iOS and sure enough there will be newer versions of apps that no longer support 4.2.1 and which so far, I don't download, but in the future I will want to download for the newer device.
Thank you a lot Jolly Giant for your help and thank you to anyone who will help.
