Error starting essbase
Hello.
I am installing hyperion in two machine:
Machine 1.
In this machine I installed Foundation and I have started all the service without problem.
Machine 2.
In this machine I installed Essbase but when I try to start the essbase service the sentence show a message error:
./startEssbase.sh
Starting Essbase.properties
Cannot write on the specified log file. Make sure the path exists and you have write permissions.
Finish Essbase.properties
In this machine I have two users, the user oracle for the rdbms database, and the user weblogic for the essbase database.
Do you have some idea about the folder with the problem? The oraInventory is ok.

Is it unix or windows environment, please make sure the admin id should have administrator privilizes, if it's unix, chmod 777 to Essbase complete folder/files.
I am not sure how you configured essbase, is shared services user given correctly...if its windows server try to reboot the server then start & chk the logs

Error starting essbase applications
Hello specialists!
I'm having a problem restarting the essbase applications.
When i restart the essbase i receive the following error message in the applciation log:

Unable to Read [E:\Hyperion\user_projects\epmsystem2\EssbaseServer\essbaseserver1\APP\PlanApp\Plan1\Plan1.ind], Not a Recognized Format
I tried to rename plan1.ind to oldpplan1.ind just to check if the application would start without problems and it worked.
I would like to know what could have caused this problem and how can i regenerate the plan1.ind file?

You can try these steps:
1 - Stop the Essbase Server and delete the Plan1.ind file.
2 - Start the Essbase Server and log into the EAS Console
3 - Navigate to the corresponding application and right click over the database you are having problems.
4 - Select Restructure.
Most Essbase application files are renewed after a Restructure and in this case Plan1.ind will be re-created. -
Error while starting essbase after Installation: Cannot load $DM_APP$

I have installed Essbase on solaris. After installation when I start Essbase it started successfully but with an error:

On starting Essbase, system throws error "CSS Initialization Fails"
Hi
I have been using the hyperion essbase in the past.
Today the someone removed the network cable connecting to the servers. I put them back but since then i am facing issue where i cannot connect to Essbase server.
I tried restarting the essbase server. On starting the server it first gives the warning:
log4j:WARN No appenders could be found for logger (com.hyperion.css.common.CSSLo
gger).
log4j:WARN Please initialize the log4j system properly.
But it continues and then prompts error

What I have attempted:
- Attempted to connect to Shared Services, Workspace url's - YES
- Checked openLDAP & my Database is running - YES
- Added following to Configuration File :
SharedServicesLocation machinex 28080
AUTHENTICATIONMODULE CSS http://machinex:28080/interop/framework/getCSSConfigFile YES, but same error
- Changed essbase.bak to essbase.sec YES but same error
- netstat -an to check for 1423. Port 1423 is not listening, although ALL TCP Ports have been enabled. So YES but same error.
- Read Knowledgebase article # 954322.1 - the suggested things in there don't seem to apply to my case, unless I am missing something.
At this point does anybody have any suggestions ?An update: Just for kicks, I tried restarting Essbase using Start->Programs-EPMSystem->Essbase->EssbaseServer->Essbase.bat and apparently now Essbase is started.
EAS, Studio and Planning however are down.

This is really strange. There is NOTHING that I changed, started or stopped which could have caused Essbase to start magically all of a sudden.

I think that some time during the install, even if you "Run as Administrator", these folders and files do not get created because there is insufficient access rights in Windows 7. I hope this helps someone!

Cannot start Essbase application
Hi-
We could not start our Essbase application after stopping and starting Essbase services. This issue happens randomly, usually when big calcs are running and getting interrupted by the nightly backup process. We are killing all processes and logging off users before stopping the services, however we still seem to be running into "Cannot load application..." error depicted below when trying to start the services back up.. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Is there any better way to get rid of any hung processes besides "alter system kill request all;" command? Thank you in advance..

When you kill a calc script, it can damage your app/db.
I would suggest to make sure that your calc script finish before your backup run, or run after the backup finish.

We have installed Hyperion 11.1.2.1 server on Solaris machine.
When we are trying to start Essbase server on this machine we are getting the below error in the starter logs

Problem starting Essbase 11.1.2.1
Hi. I have the next problem.
When I tried start Essbase, opmn have an error. In log file I see this:
ESSBASE / Error (1320022)
Attempt to find an Agent instance corresponding to arborpath [u01/app/hyperion/user_projects/epmsystem2/EssbaseServer/essbaseserver1] failed.
Looking essbase logs, I found this:

I installed Essbase under Sun Solaris 10. "hostname" command returns right hostname.
Any suggestion?

Unable to start Essbase Studio Server
Hi All,
Am getting an error message when I start Essbase studio. The installation and configuration went without any errors. I have downloaded the jdbc driver for mysql, renamed it and placed it in the correct location. Yet when I start the studio server I get the error message described below. I have also attached the contents of the server.properties. Do let me know if you guys have any suggestions.

2. Bring up the Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and login as sa
a.Expand the Databases node
b.Expand the “epmesbStudio” under the Database node
c.Expand the “Security” node
d.Right click on “Schemas” under the database “epmesbStudio” to bring up the “Schema” dialog:
e.From the Schema dialog, enter ”epmEsbStudio” for both Schema name and Schema owner, then click OK to create the schema.
f. Verify that the schema “epmEsbStudio” is created:

Dear all,
I finished Foundation Services, Essbase and Planning installation and started the applications using start.bat|sh. When I run the EPM System Diagnostic, i had the following error messages:
FAILED EAS: Essbase Server Validating Essbase Server connection to DC-HypT01
Error: Cannot connect to olap service. Cannot connect to Essbase Server. Error:Essbase Error(1054067): Internal error
Recommended Action: Check Essbase Server is started.
FAILED ESS: Essbase Studio Server Validating Essbase Studio Server connection
Error: Network communication with the server failed. Check your network connection and try again.
Recommended Action: Start application
I started Essbase Server and Studio manually, But i still got the same error.
What could be the reason?

I tried the command you said, it looks better, but still with the next error message:
Essbase global application does not exist at Shared Services
And I check the Shared Service, there is no detail below EssbaseCluster_1, simply it is lost. Should I reconfigure Essbase so that essbase can be registerred on the shared service?

on my laptop !!!!!
This is the process of my manual start and then
Start Foundation Services
Start Integration Services
Start Admin Services
Start Essbase
and then start Admin Service on Console
but I have noticed that
once I connect
I am getting a error so i stop the essbase server
and then Restart the service
and after that I Good
my questions are these
do I need Intergration Service in my start up
and why
and i having to stop and start my essbase service
to get too my databases

Anyway your start order is incorrect as hss/openldap would need to be first.
