Error starting J2EE after EP installation

Hi,
I'm trying to install EP 6.0 SP9 in WAS 6.40 SP9 on Linux PowerPC. WAS is an standalone instance (only JAVA part).
The installation is aborted in the J2EE Start step (the step before the latest step). After that I cannot start J2EE Engine anymore, because the process jlaunch dies suddently, and on logs this error is shown:
ERROR => JHVM_LoadJavaVM: Cannot create Java VM (rc=-6) [jhvmxx_mt.c 480]
ERROR => Cannot load Java VM (<default>) (rc=-1) [jlnchxxi_mt 591]
SigISetIgnoreAction: SIG_IGN for signal 17
JLaunchCloseProgram: good bye (exitcode=-1)
What should I do?
Thanks in advance,
Arnau

Hi Arnau,
I would suggest to check the Java VM parameters. You can look for a section "Adapt Memory Configuration for the J2EE Server" in the installation guide or the SAP notes mentioned in the guide dealing with the Java VM parameters (like 723909 and 716927).

  • Computer won't start properly after Leopard installation attempt

    Yesterday I tried to install Leopard 10.5.6 on my G5 (currently running Tiger 10.4.11) and ran into a ton of problems. First, a message came up preventing me from upgrading without erasing my hard drive. I decided to quit the installer and back up my drive before erasing it, but after trying to start up again on my main disk, the computer will no longer get past the Apple logo screen. It stays that way for several minutes, and the computer revs and revs until it's at max RPM, then the computer just shuts off. I can't access my data to back it up.
    I did some internet research and tried started up from the install DVD again (which still works) and tried to repair my disk using Disk Utility. This didn't work and an error message came up: "Attempted to Repair Disk, attempt failed. Invalid Node Structure, Volume Check Failed. Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit."
    If anyone has any advice I would be VERY grateful, I am hoping to not have to have the computer repaired as I already have my other Mac out of service as well and the cost of repair has been high. I need to back up some important files before I update to Leopard, is there any way to do this while starting up from the DVD since my Startup disk doesn't work now? What happened??!!!

    Is it possible that the piece stuck in the audio jack has resulted in turning off the internal speakers?
    I would say that the Leopard installation is not 100%. Sometimes this happens. Or you may have a piece of software installed that mutes the speakers, and it needs to disable that. If it's not the latter, then I would erase the hard drive and reinstall from scratch. If that's not feasible then you can do the following:
    How to Perform an Archive and Install
    An Archive and Install will NOT erase your hard drive, but you must have sufficient free space for a second OS X installation which could be from 3-9 GBs depending upon the version of OS X and selected installation options. The free space requirement is over and above normal free space requirements which should be at least 6-10 GBs. Read all the linked references carefully before proceeding.
    1. Be sure to use Disk Utility first to repair the disk before performing the Archive and Install.
    Repairing the Hard Drive and Permissions
    Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger.) After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported, then quit DU and return to the installer.
    2. Do not proceed with an Archive and Install if DU reports errors it cannot fix. In that case use Disk Warrior and/or TechTool Pro to repair the hard drive. If neither can repair the drive, then you will have to erase the drive and reinstall from scratch.
    3. Boot from your OS X Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When you reach the screen to select a destination drive click once on the destination drive then click on the Option button. Select the Archive and Install option. You have an option to preserve users and network preferences. Only select this option if you are sure you have no corrupted files in your user accounts. Otherwise leave this option unchecked. Click on the OK button and continue with the OS X Installation.
    4. Upon completion of the Archive and Install you will have a Previous System Folder in the root directory. You should retain the PSF until you are sure you do not need to manually transfer any items from the PSF to your newly installed system.
    5. After moving any items you want to keep from the PSF you should delete it. You can back it up if you prefer, but you must delete it from the hard drive.
    6. You can now download a Combo Updater directly from Apple's download site to update your new system to the desired version as well as install any security or other updates. You can also do this using Software Update.

    I believe I got the server working. The system may have had an issue recognizing the environmental variables being set in the .bash_profile and the setconfig.sh.

  • Unexpected Error Occurred (error code -600) after Leopard Installation

    Installed Leopard for the second time.
    Everything seems to work fine, but after opening and then closing Mail, I'm unable to open it via the dock. Tried to open by selecting from the applications menu, and get the following message:
    The operation could not be completed.
    An unexpected error occurred (error code -600)
    Same thing with Backup, Parallels too.
    Shutdown behavior is odd. From the apple icon, shutdown doesn't work, everything goes away on the desktop, then the spinning wheel (not beach ball), then nothing. Have to power off to quit, can't be good for the hardware.
    Any suggestions, or am I doomed to a clean install and reinstalling all of my applications? Thankfully I have a drive backed up with SuperDuper with 10.4!
    Thanks for the help.

    OK, I've got ContentBarrier X4 installed and this was the cause of my error codes and it looks like several - if not all of my installation issues with Leopard.
    Apparently, perhaps with Login KeyChain update, it wiped out the ContentBarrier administration name, and on launch, it was likely blocking the applications.
    First, install the Login KeyChain update (see Apple software download page).
    Reinstalled ContentBarrierX4 http://www.intego.com/services/updates.asp (make sure to select ContentBarrierX4).
    Open ContentBarrierX4 - you'll have to sign in as the administer. You may have to go into Preferences > Accounts > to make sure that you've got admin rights.
    Once you logged in, exit, then reboot.
    For the first time since installing Leopard, I can shutdown without a hard power off.

  • Error starting SQLPLUS after updating Fedora Core 5

    Hi,
    I ran "yum update" on fedora core 5 and now sqlplus does not start anymore. I get this error:
    sqlplus: error while loading shared libraries: /opt/oracle/xe/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/server/bin/../lib/libnnz10.so: cannot restore segment prot after reloc: Permission denied
    I understand it has something to do with the SELinux policy but how can I configure my system so Oracle still works AND the security policy still works ?
    Thanks !!!
    Coen

    Hello,
    This solution ( tail -f /var/log/audit/audit.log |tee oracle.log; audit2allow -M oracle < oracle.log; semodule -i oracle.pp)
    worked for me. Can somebody explain what it did (I don't understand from the man pages)? ALso, how did this come to be. This happened to me right after a fresh install, and the machine got bounced.
    All answers are apprecaited.
    Thanks,

  • Error starting j2ee and cleanup

    I'm install the following at my Red Hat Linux 7.1 machine:
    JDK 1.2.2 -- "jdk-1_2_2_008-linux-i386[1].tar.gz"
    Tomcat 3.3a -- "jakarta-tomcat-3.3a.tar.gz"
    J2EE -- "j2sdkee-1_3_01-linux[1].tar.gz"
    Ant 1.3 -- "jakarta-ant-1.3-bin.tar.gz"
    And I had set the following in the /etc/profile file:
    JAVA_HOME=/usr/local/jdk
    export JAVA_HOME
    J2EE_HOME=/usr/local/j2sdkee1.3
    export J2EE_HOME
    ANT_HOME=/usr/local/jakarta-ant-1.3
    export ANT_HOME
    CLASSPATH=/usr/local/jdk/lib:/usr/local/jre/lib:/usr/local/j2sdkee1.3/lib:/usr/local/jakarta-ant-1.3/lib
    export CLASSPATH
    PATH=$PATH:/usr/local/jdk/bin:/usr/local/jre/bin:/usr/local/j2sdkee1.3/bin:/usr/local/jakarta-ant-1.3/bin
    If I using "j2ee -verbose" to start the J2EE Server the following will come out:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/naming/Context
    at com.sun.enterprise.server.J2EEServer.<clinit>(J2EEServer.java:59)
    If I execute the cleanup script, the following will message will come out:
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: javax/naming/Context
    at com.sun.enterprise.util.J2EECleanup.<init>(J2EECleanup.java:31)
    at com.sun.enterprise.util.J2EECleanup.main(J2EECleanup.java:45)
    Can anybody give me suggestion to solve it?

    Did you ever solve it because i get exactly the same errors on a windows NT machine.

    Your problem is that you need to tweak the J2EE batch files to run on Windows 98 or Windows Me. See http://groups.msn.com/J2EETools for help.

  • Ora-01017 error starting J2EE: logon refused

    I'm usig Web As 640 Abap+Java Sp16.
    I was not able to logon anymore to the J2EE, both Visual Admin or vie the J2EE Start Page, so i did the following:
    1) i checked in config tool wich was the ume.r3.connection.master.client
    2)with SU01 in the Was 640, into the master client i changed the psw for J2EE_ADMIN
    3) i logged with J2EE_ADMIN to define a definitive psw into the master client
    4) with config tool i selected the 'Secure Store' node, and changed the parameter admin/password/J2EE_ADMIN
    5) restarted the J2EE server and......
    ...it does not come up.
    Into the jvm_bootstrap.log we see the msg :
    "ORA-01017 invalid username/passoword, logon denied
    What's wrong ? About wich user/psw is talking about and how I can modify it as I cannot start the configtool also ?
    regards

    Hi Cornelia,
    You are absolutely right, the issue is due to change of schema user password..
    I faced the same issue, yesterday where i changed the password for the schema user and J2ee failed to start, and then locked the user account. So i had to manually unlock the schema user, reset back the password to old password and j2ee engine could then be started..
    To check if the schema user is locked or not, you can use the following commands:
    sqlplus "/as sysdba"
    select username,account_status from dba_users;
    in case user is locked then unlock it using the command:
    alter user <user_name> account unlock;
    But i have a question here, how does one change the password for schema user in 640 and 700 systems.. if i change it using oracle commands, j2ee fails to come up. So i used the procedure that SAP recommends, changing the password for the schema user, using brtools.. but again i face the same problem, j2ee fails to start and it locks the user account..
    After changing the password using brtools is there something additional that is required to be done.
    In my scenario it is a must for me to change the schema user password because the current password contains the character "@" which is pathetic, because tnsnames really fails to understand this character. If i use sqlplus and try to logon as schema user and current password, it fails becuase of "@".
    Appreciate if some one could share the procedure for changing the password for schema user in 700 systems, specially standalone j2ee stack..
    Thanks,
    Chetan

  • Error starting J2EE server in debug mode

    I am trying to start the Sun 1.4 application server in a debug mode. I get an error

    Error [2] in bind() call!

    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks,

    I changed the port number and it worked. Not sure why port 1044 as specified in the Sun documentation doesnot work.
