Error storing authorisation - unable to synchronise iphone etc. solution ?

when i backup my iphone to my computer, get message :
"there was an error storing your authorisation on this computer". goes on to mention
"file not found... permission error"
on clicking "ok" :
message appears "this computer no longer authorized for apps installed on iphone..."
i have tried :
- repairing permissions with disc utility
- keychain aid for keychain issues (none found)
- checked there is a "shared" file in "users" (but nothing related to itunes in there AFAICS)
- tried to "de-authorize" and "re-authorise" my (only) computer on itunes store

Hello,
I have an iPhone 3GS which I updated with the last firmware (iOS 5) 2 weeks ago. Everything goes ok.
And suddenly, while the phone was recharching. It asked me to activate it but I was unable to do it as it was rebooting constantly every time I connected it to iTunes.
I tried both 2 restore modes (Restore and DFU) but since I can't achieve a restore with the last Apple iOS 5 firmware. I got the error code 1.
I I tried on 3 different computers but same error. I really don't know what to do next...
I already called Apple Customer Care and I'm still waiting for an answer. I let you know.
And you, did you manage to get your iPhone back alive ?

  • Error storing authorisation information

I recently installed iTunes on my new computer, but when I want to purchase a song or even play a preview I get to following error message:
"An error occured storing authorisation information on your computer."
I tried reinstalling iTunes to no avail.
This is getting quite annoying because I also can't play previously purchased songs anymore.
Thanks in advance for any insights.

    Ok, finally I solved it (for me that is);
    1.First go to the folder:
    C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info
    2.Then:
In Windows Explorer, go to Tools/Folder Options/View, then
scroll down and remove the checkmark on the "Use Simple File Sharing..." option. Windows XP (pro) use simple file sharing by default. You have more control without it.
Now go to the folder you want to share, right-click and select the "sharing and security" option, select the "share this folder" radio button, click "maximum allowed", click "Permissions" and make sure to select the permissions to the user or group you want. I would select Full Control to Everyone first just to make sure it works.
On the "security" tab, allow everything!
Now iTunes is allowed to save authorisation information on your system!

iTunes is a mess! It couldn't find it's own libraries and I was forced to create a new one. Now I don't know where my music is or if any's missing.

    How crap is that?
    It's not crap at all.
It's not that simple. For example, I've 3500 songs on my MacBook but don't want them all on my phone, so I have to manually select each song again???
There has to be a solution.
Why not simply make a playlist with the songs you want on the iPhone?
and maintain a current backup of your computer.

Check security software. Ensure that communication to gs.apple.com is allowed. Follow this article for assistance with security software. iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting security software issues.

    (1) Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility installer file (msicuu2.exe) from the following Major Geeks page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4459
    (2) Doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file and follow the prompts to install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. (If you're on a Windows Vista or Windows 7 system and you get a Code 800A0046 error message when doubleclicking the msicuu2.exe file, try instead right-clicking on the msicuu2.exe file and selecting "Run as administrator".)
    (3) In your Start menu click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up. The Windows Installer CleanUp utility window appears, listing software that is currently installed on your computer.
    (4) In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any iTunes entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
    (5) Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another iTunes install. Does it go through properly this time?

Thank you for your responses guys!
This is how I managed to fix the problem...and I hope this helps others in the similar situation.
I tried with another program..latest version of Nero, and this was also stopping at the 'initialising' stage. I was now lost! I thought the last resort is to give Evesham (My PC manufacturer) a buzz. They were very helpfull. Basically go into 'Control Panel', 'System', and click on the Hardware tab, then 'Device Manager'. Uninstall everything in the DVD/CDRom Drives. Then uninstall everything under the catagory IDE ATA/Atapi disk controllers. This is where my problem was, as I only had one IDE channel here. You should have 4 or 5! Reboot your machine, and everything will automatically re-load. I tried burning using Nero and it worked. Then the big test was iTunes. It worked 1st time!
I asked why the IDE channels have dissappearred, and he said sometimes uninstalling Programmes occasionally removes them.
I hope this will help others who are having problems to burn stuff on iTunes. I can give more info if you need it.

    Try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more aboutrestoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
From the above Link  >  Frozen or unresponsive iPhone

Then a Visit to an Apple Store or AASP (Authorized Apple Service Provider) is the Next Step...

  • During software update - unable to backup iphone "error -37"

After downloading the iphone 2.0 update, when I try to update my phone's software I get the following error:
"An error occurred while backing up this iphone (-37). Would you like to continue to update this iphone without backup? continuing without backup ..."
I have tried several times, and downloaded the software more than once (by deleting the software package in ~/Library/iTunes/iPhone Software Updates/) to no avail.
I opened the console and see this error:
MobileDevice: AMDeviceCopyValue: There was an error getting the value from lockdown
Any ideas what's going on here? My phone is not hacked in any way.

Little late for me now, but since others may be having the same problem I did, good to know.
Do you have any other virtualization software running or installed? Like Parallels or VMware? Make sure its updated or try uninstalling it.
Ah. As a matter of fact I have both installed. If this is a known issue, guess that was my problem.
This may be caused by a USB connection issue.
Make sure the iPhone is directly connected to the Mac and not plugged into a keyboard or hub.

  • Computer not authorised for syncing with iPhone with IOS 7

Unable to sync iPhone 4S (with IOS 7) to my PC.  Error message is that computer not authorised.  Have tried all on-line steps to rectify.  e.g. Control Panel User settings.
Anybody have any clues on this problem?

    Hi oxman78,
That definitely sounds frustrating! Let's give this a go to see if we can isolate the issue futher:
First, connect your device and choose the "Music" tab. Next, uncheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes (so there is ultimately no music syncing to your iPhone).
Once you have done that, recheck the "Sync Music" checkbox, and apply the changes once more. This will instruct iTunes to completely remove all music from your iPhone, and then copy the files once more. If you have a large amount of music, this initial sync may take a while.
