Error submiting iBook on iTunes Producer

I tried to submit my iBook made on iBooks Author to the iBookstore using iTunes Producer application but I'm stuck with this error: "Error: Internal error: java.net.MalformedURLException: unknown protocol: bundle schema/20/rng/opf.rng" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)"
I've set in my terminal to recognize the latest version of java (1.6.0), I've re-installed the latest package of java and I've lit up 20 candles and prayed 10 Holy Mary's and 20 Our Fathers xD
Nothing worked... help!

This solved my question by t_bard  on Apr 14, 2012 10:02 AM
My clean install (see above) worked for me, but since then I have received a solution from the Apple iBookstore tech support which, if it works, is sure to be much less painful:
ERROR ITMS-9000: "java.lang.Error: Internal error: java.net.MalformedURLException: unknown protocol: bundle schema/20/rng/opf.rng" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)
"You can make an update to your settings in iTunes Producer to avoid this issue.
1. Open iTunes Producer
2. From the iTunes Producer menu, open Preferences.
3. Click on the icon for Advanced settings at the right side of the screen.
4. Uncheck the box next to Signiant.
5. Close settings and reattempt your delivery.
You will be notified by email once Signiant is available again."
Plus there's always the firewall solution (see just above) to try before you do anything as drastic as me.
HOPE THIS HELPS.
This really worked! I can't believe it but it worked! I don't even know what signiant is for but if you're experiencing the same error try this.

  • Hi I created a EPUB with indesign cc and I'm trying to submitted it to iTunes Producer

Hi I created a EPUB with indesign cc and I'm trying to submitted it to iTunes Producer and only thing that happens is the little wheel keep spinning and spinning and spinning can you help? And is there a way to  decrease the size of my EPUB I'm getting a message saying that it is over 200 MB?

You haven't said if you're on a mac or PC. I understand that on a PC you can directly open an EPUB. But, as I am on a Mac I need a utility. I use a little app called EPUB Unzip and then to zip it back up you'll need EPUB zip. Just search on Google for them. They are open source (free). Or you can use Sigil to get into the EPUB without unzipping. Sigil is good, but does change the file structure a little bit, and for that reason some people don't like it. For a reflowable EPUB it doesn't matter much. Though I don't think I'd open a fixed layout EPUB with it. Sigil is also open source—it's very easy to use, too.
You'll also want an EPUB validation app. I use Pagina EPUBcheck 3.01 (open source). Or you can use the free online checker here: EPUB Validator (beta) though it's for SMALL files. I like Pagina because it suggests fixes for errors—even though those fixes may be completely greek to you and me.
Finally, I really suggest you get a subscription to Lynda.com and watch everything Anne Marie Concepcion has ever done on EPUB. While not the be all and end all, her knowledge is a very good place to start. Lynda.com is $25 per month but you can quit anytime (though um, I haven't, because well it's kind of addicting). So, even if you only use it for a month, you'll learn a ton and it'll be well worth it.
Lest I sound like some kind of freakin' expert, let me assure you this is a long and painful process, with little help out there for us "non-programmer" types who've been thrown in the lion's den. I am still learning everyday, by my own wits it sometimes seems.  Even today I am learning (most painfully yet) how to program a fixed layout read-abound book by trial and error, because even after BEGGING Adobe ON BENDED KNEES we don't have support for read-aloud and according to insiders hereabout they have NO PLANS to give us that. Yes. I am going to continue to whine about it, frequently.
It's late, and I've already had a glass or two of wine. (Not that you'd notice. ) Good luck on your journey. (Only 8 more circles of hell to traverse, so I've heard.)

  • ITMS-9012 Error uploading package in iTunes Producer

    Hi Everyone,
I have searched everywhere for this error number but can't seem to find anything about it.
We finally completed our book, and filled out all of the required info for our paid iBook (we have an ISBN, tax and operational iTunes Connect account) but when I try and upload the package via iTunes Producer I get several errors. All of them are ITMS-9012 and it follows with this: "No NCX Extension found for NavPoint" and will reference different pages. When I check some of the pages it references there are no superfluous items on the page (and not even any 'links' for the page, some of them are strictly text content).
I am baffled. It took over 4 hours to upload the file and now it seems I need to re-upload but I don't know how to fix the issue before I do. I tried using the Book Proofer app but that seems to only work with non iBA books.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...

I don't know if this is an issue after all. After checking my iTunes Connect account, I can see that the book is in my account so it appears to have uploaded successfully even though I got that strange error message.

  • IBooks Author-iTunes Producer publishing delivery problem

Why do I get an error message "Path specified for argument -f (/Users/tsoukadaris/Documents//iBooks/10000422963.itmsp) is invalid.", since I've done everything needed and iTunes Producer has got me to the final step of publishing my iBook? Why can't my file be located, since I've exported my iBooks Author project and I have selected it in the Assets/iBook area?

What is the name of the folder with the ? characters?   Does it use non-ascii characters?  If so, you may have to change things so they are located someplace with an ascii name.

  • Trouble while uploading ibook through itunes producer

    hello all
while submitting my epub(mine is an epub3) through itunes producer,i found 3 errors.
ERROR 1:Apple's web service operation was not successful
ERROR 2:Unable to authenticate the package:B_FUEL_FOR_YOUR_LIFE.itmsp
ERROR ITMS-5107:"FuelforYourLife-TheUltimateCookBook.epub:Fixed-Layout books must supply a guide." at Book(MZItmspBookPackage)

oh I think I just fixed it, I removed the <guide> from the .opf file (<package ... version="3.0" >) and added a <nav epub:type="landmarks"> at the end of my nav.xhtml (I followed this template http://apex.infogridpacific.com/df/ePub3Packaging4.html).

  • Submitting screenshots to itunes producer

I am currently submitting my book via itunes producer, I'd like to submit a few screen shots. Can anyone give me a simple and efficient way to do this. Is it simply a question of snapping the image of my book's page on my desktop or is there a better way? thanks

Do you know how to screenshot off your iPad?
Use the power/home buttons to save a screenshot to Photos, then fetch from there.

  • I can't upload my free iBook into iTunes Producer

I am done with my iBook. It will be available free and as such I opened a free iBook account with Apple.
I downloaded iTunes Producer (latest version).
I open iTunes producer and follow the needed steps, filling up all information; including cover image and screenshots.
When I get to the Publication section/Assets and asks me to choose the publication, I try to choose the .itmsp I've created, but it appears greyed out, so I can't select any file.
    What am I doing wrong?

If you use 'Publish', the .itmsp asset should be created and iTP should open with it already in place - doing that manually won't work, as you've found.
If the auto-add step failed for you, I can only guess some sort of glitch got in the way. Adding the .ibooks file manually was simply an optional route to a similar result.
You may want to try again with a test book and see if the publish/auto-add to iTP works or fails again. Works for me  either way
If it continues to fail, my guess is a permissions issue...in a classroom, there is no telling who owns what on a given computer, network drive, etc.

  • IBooks Author / iTunes Producer Import Error

    Looking for some help....
I have now attempted 9 different imports of my iBook Textbook created with iBooks Author - all ended in Import Error.   I have scoured the forums and took some community members'  advice to:
Change all my video formats to iPhone / iPod 3gs .m4v instead of iPad .m4v (even though the documentation says that iPad .m4v should work)
Made sure there is a preview version of the iBook
Made sure all the Metadata is filled out
The ITMSP package validates successfully in Producer and gives me a green check mark on upload.  After watching the package status it goes from Uploading > Uploaded > Internal Processing > to Import Error ever single time.   This is beyond frustrating since there is no error log for me to review to have ANY idea what the error is.  Please advise!
This is going on over a week now of struggling with this and an entire week of work waisted.   I was told it will take about 10 days for the book to be reviewed to get placed in iTunes - BUT I CAN'T EVEN GET IT SUBMITTED!
    Please help!

I struggled with the same issue for a couple of days earlier this week.  My issue was definately related to vido, but not necessarily the format of the videos.  It was related to 2 things:
    1.  We had adjusted the Poster frame from the default to a selectable frame.
    2.  We had adjusted the start/stop of the video
I deleted the videos that had either of these settings changed and added them back into the book without any adjustments and the Import worked.  Unfortuantely, this took me 2 straight days of work to figure out since the error message doesn't tell you anything.
    Good luck.

  • Error submitting feed in itunes, But Feedvalidatororg says it's good

While trying to submit the feed in iTunes, it gives me an error message saying *error parsing feed: Invalid XML: Error on Line 1: The element type "META" must be terminated by the matching end-tag "</META>"*
The feed has been validated by feedvalidator.org as shown below:
    http://www.feedvalidator.org/check.cgi?url=http%3A%2F%2Fdownload696.mediafire.co m%2Fncjmniyxnthg%2Fznijmzmalrj%2FEssentialTrance.rss
Is there something wrong that I am doing? This is the first time I'm doing this.
Thanks in advance for your time!

The URL of your feed, according to the FeedValidator page (which doesn't give me the same error it did you) is
    http://download696.mediafire.com/ncjmniyxnthg/znijmzmalrj/EssentialTrance.rss
Opening this in a browser produces a redirect to
    http://www.mediafire.com/?znijmzmalrj
which gives a link to download the file. This won't work in iTunes: you must give it a URL directly to the feed. The test is that if you open the URL in a browser it will treat it as rss and display the contents.
Although the extension of .rss will work it would be better if the extension was .xml

  • How to solve import error with iTunes Producer?

Please help me out by telling me what is going wrong after I update my ibook with iTunes producer. The fetched statuses goes from internal transfer to import processing to import error. But I can't find out anywhere what is wrong......I'm getting crazy because as you can see I'm busy with it from febr, 16th .... And that is 9 days too long...
I have read a lot on the web and the forums but no one seems to have an answer. I have sent it to Apple, But no answer. Is there a server Meltdown?

The problem was indeed in the videos. Also Apple told me that by mail. This is what I finally did:
I duplicated my iBook version.(.iba file)
    I removed all the video's
I saved that version (.iba file)
I saved that ibook (.ibooks file)
I opened the original iTunesProducer package of the book (.itmsp file)
    I uploaded/delivered the file
I checked the status with the file - history option
and it said as latest status imported.
Now I'm putting the video files one by one back in the book and upload. And wait and see when it is going wrong. Up to now I have done 2 succesfull uploads with movies. So I guess the movies were the problem. To be followed....

  • ITunes Producer for iBooks: Screen shot Asset dimensions

What are the allowable dimensions of the screenshot assets for iBooks in iTunes Producer.  The iTunes Producer manual is not up to date with the latest display specifications and I'm looking for the complete list of new allowed pixel dimensions.

    iBookstore Asset Guide 5.0
    Screenshots
    ● Full-sized iPad 1/2 images (1024 x 768 or 768 x 1024) in PNG (.png) or JPEG (.jpg) format.
    ● Full-sized new iPad images (2048 x 1536 or 1536 x 2048) in PNG (.png) or JPEG (.jpg) format.
    ● For a cleaner look, you can optionally remove the status bar (making the images 1004 x 768 or 748 x 1024
    for iPad 1/2, or 2028 x 1536 or 1536 x 2028 for the new iPad).

  • ITunes producer changed all of my iBook pricing when I submitted a new pub file and now I can't change pricing

I had an existing iBook title on the iBooks store with actual pricing (essentially tier 3 for all countries). Two weeks ago I changed the pricing to "free" for all countries. I then started a marketing promotion offering the free book. Today I changed the actual epub file, as I reduced the overall file size for better download speed. When I submitted the new files with iTunes producer, it changed all of my "free" pricing to the pricing that was originally set in iTunes Producer (which I could not change in thew application). Now all of my pricing on iTunes connect has been changed from "free" to the original pricing. When I try to change the pricing now in iTunes connect it gives me an error and tells me to contact support, which I did, but they are not open on weekends. I need to get ll of my pricing back to "free" for my title ASAP. Any suggestions?

  • ITunes Producer error - "This playlist has already been submitted"

    Hi,
I'm quite clueless here, and would be glad for any help or reference with this error.
I'm an iTunes content publisher, and wanted to start working with Producer to upload new stuff.
I created a new entry, will all details - but when i'm trying to upload, *i'm getting the following error*
    ITMS-6001: Validation Result:
    (MZPackageValidationResultType#3)Error
    (MZPackageValidationErrorType#4)Unsupported Feature:
"Album "5060105331046">> Track "GBJLH0511053":Error Unsupported Feature:
This playlist has already been submitted to iTunes.
*You can see a screenshot* here -> http://i377.photobucket.com/albums/oo211/camilla_es/itunesproducererror.jpg
Anyone knows what could be the reason? really desperate to get this solved, as I just can't submit new stuff.
Didn't find any iTunes Producer support forum, so thought to post here. Feel free to refer to any relevant place or people to check with.
    Thanks in advance

    Hello,
I had the same problem, But just change the Name of the feed and The Link for example:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <rss xmlns:itunes="http://www.itunes.com/dtds/podcast-1.0.dtd" version="2.0">
        <channel>
            <title>Timoteos Miami</title>
            <link>http://www.casarocamiami.org/relacionate/jovenes.html</link>
           <language>es</language>
            <copyright>Casa Roca Miami 2012</copyright>
Change it to whatever you want. Submit it, and when it has been approve just change it back.

  • Has anyone been able to upload an ibooks file with audio only files (m4a) in it? I keep getting the following error message during the upload in iTunes Producer: ERROR ITMS-9000: "Files of type audio/x-m4a are not allowed outside of widgets.

Has anyone been able to upload an ibooks file with audio only files (m4a) in it? I keep getting the following error message during the upload in iTunes Producer: ERROR ITMS-9000: "Files of type audio/x-m4a are not allowed outside of widgets. then it names the file as an m4p file. Everything works beautifully on the iPad through Preview, and validates through iTunes Producer up until the attempted upload. If you've been able to accomplish this, please let me know how you prepared your audio files. Many thanks.

    Hello Fellow iBook Authors!
Today I received the same error that you all have been discussing.  I tried selecting the DRM
and this did not work for me, though I'm glad it did for some.  Here's what I did as a work-around. . .
Since iBooks Author did not have a problem with Videos, I simply used one of my video programs, ScreenFlow to turn the audio into a video file m4v.  I added an image and extended the length or timing of the image to span the length of the audio file.  Then exported as an .mov.  I then opened QuickTime and opened the file and exported the file to iTunes.
You can use iMovie, Camtasia or any other progam that will allow you to export the audio as a movie file.  Does this make sense?  I hope this helps, at least in the short-term.

  • New Ibook/itunes producer delivery error message

I've been uploading ebooks via itunes producer with no plroblem until just recently. Now I get the following error message "com.apple.transporter.util.StreamUtil.readBytes(Ljava/io/InputStream;)[B". The epub file is validated and nothing has changed about how I do or prepare the delivery. This seems like it must be a bug on Apple's side. Has anyone else had this issue and how have you fixed it? I am at a loss. No fixes have worked so far.

I am also having this same problem.  I'm just using iTunesProducer 2.3.1. and OSX 10.6.7.
Has anyone had any response from Apple about this?
I have asked today, but I don't hold out much hope of a reply.
