Error syncing photos on Vista

I am having this problem:
"dlrgc1_w01.jpg" was not copied to the iPod "iPod Touch" because it cannot be played on this iPod.
My computer is Windows Vista and I purchased this 16GB iPod Touch on Sept. 27th. That afternoon I was able to sync the exact same photo to my iPod without a problem. That night I updated the firmware and iTunes. Since then I have been unable to sync this photo or most any other photo. Every once in a while one will work, but there is a color band across the image.
Here is what I've tried that hasn't helped:
* Reset all of the settings on the iPod touch.
* Completely restored the iPod touch.
* Completely unininstalled and reinstalled iTunes.
* Tried dragging individual photos directly to the iPod Touch in iTunes.
* Tried dragging folders directly to the iPod Touch in iTunes.
* Tried syncing folders from iTunes.
* Called tech support who were little to know help. (who by the way seem to be clueless. When I asked about size limitations for images I was told "I have no idea" and she pretty much blamed my images although I told her that I was previously able to upload the same exact images to my iPod)
Next, I brought my iPod to an Apple store's Genius bar. They restored the iPod and synced photos from a Mac without a problem. Told me to go home and try it again. No luck. Still doesn't work on Vista on multiple computers. The Genius bar told me to try exchanging it with Circuit City where I bought it, but of course they are all out of the iPod touch.
I've read other places that other users are having the same problem. Some suggest using a Flash drive to copy over the photos and say it has something to do with copying from a SATA hard drive. I don't have a Flash drive and this certainly isn't a proper solution even if it works. I should be able to sync from my hard drive.
I hope Apple fixes this problem soon. If anyone knows of a solution, please help.

I too am having the same problem, with an 8gb iPod touch. and Windows Vista Home Premium. It took itunes 12 minutes (and used 100% of the systems resources for all that time) to tell me that it wasn't going to transfer the jpegs to the ipod because the ipod couldn't display them. I don't understand why itunes needs to take complete control of core duo 2.2GHz 2Gb system just to resize 4 jpegs. Anyone from Apple have an answer?
Worse than the photo problem was the hard reset that happened when I tried to import a video into itunes. Since that moment the computer has rebooted unexpectedly several times and my main user profile is somewhat screwed now - I no longer have any items in my start menu and am unable to modify the task bar - it's permanently locked. Also, FF has forgotten that it's my preferred browser but I am unable to set this either.
I didn't spend £2000 on this laptop 6 weeks ago to have it buggered up by half-baked software / hardware.
If anyone knows a solution to either of these problems I for one would be glad to hear it - after all, it would be nice to be able to use the functionality that this thing was advertised as having.

  • Anyone else having problem with RAID and iTunes syncing photos in Vista?

    Hello,
For whatever reason iTunes can not load some of the photos from C drive. It can do it from D drive, though VERY slow. Both C and D are NTFS system, but C is a RAID 0 drive (implemented by hardware on motherboard, Intel 82801G controller). I just wander if this is something related to iTunes not working correctly with RAID drivers, or is it something else? I should say that ALL other programs and games working fine on this drive.
    Thanks for the replies.

The problem is with Windows Vista using the NTFS file system, check out this post for the official solution. This has worked perfectly for me everytime I've tried it:

  • Syncing Photos from Vista to iPhone - a proven method

I, along with many, have had many problems syncing my pictures from my Vista PC to my iPhone. I found a solution. Many said to use a seperate memory device such as a USB flash storage device. i tried this and it didn't work for me. So I used a Memory Stick PRO duo. Some of you might not have a Memory Stick slot in your computers but I do think you can get one at Best Buy or any other retailer with an electronics section. Anyway, once you insert the Memory Stick into your computer you should be prompted to "Open to view files." Do so and make a new folder and label it "pictures" or however you want it to show up on your iPhone. Start clicking and dragging all of the pics you want into this new folder. Now in iTunes, dock your iPhone. Once you see the syncing tabs, click on Photos and change the folder you sync your pics from. Scroll down click on the Computer directory, Memory Stick PRO, and finally the folder you stored the pictures you want on your iPhone. Back in iTunes, leave it "all photos" unless you decided to make subdirectories and whatnot. You should probably make sure all of your photos are in .JPG format. From my little experience, that's the only photo format Apple products recognize. Now this isn't the end-all solution for this problem but it did work for me and i'm not very computer-literate. This did get rid of the distortion problems as well such as the slashes of odd color and so forth.
    Enjoy

Glad you found a solution that works for you, but I wouldn't necessarily assume it's a Vista problem, nor one that is affecting "many" Vista users. I have never had a problem syncing photos from my Vista machine to my iPhone, nor renaming file extensions to make ringtones. I know of at least a half-dozen other Vista/iPhone users in my circle of friends, also with no problems. Maybe it has to do with User Access Control -- that annoying pop-up that wants your permission to make even the smallest changes to your system. I disabled UAC within minutes of using Vista the first time, and haven't looked back. Not saying your issues don't exist -- just that they may be related more to your particular settings & configuration than to Vista itself.

  • Sync photos on Vista

I can't sync my photos to my Ipod on my Vista OS.
When I attempt to sync my entire photo library one of three things happens. 1)Itunes crashes 2) another open program crashes 3) Windows Vista crashes.
When I attempt to sync one folder at a time with number of files between 20 and 150 it only sync a few of the photos, i.e. 6 out of 22 or 30 out of 100, or on rare occasions it will crash in one of the three forms listed above.

Yep - I've got Vista same issue BUT moved the photos that I wanted on my iphone to a seperate folder such as iphone photos. Then browsed from itunes to the folder i set up. Now no problem. Do you have problems syncing your calendar. I've tried everything and it hasn't happened yet. !!!!!

  • Error Sync photos

I have just tried to use the latest Nokia Suite on Windows 7 on a Mac with Fusion software.
I linked with Bluetooth as I didn't have a cable. It done the contacts/messages OK, but on the Gallery for Photos it took about 3 hours (over 800 photos, of my daughter), finished, then said that it had problems with a vast majority of them, only transferred 127!
When I tried again it said it had already been Sync'd, I deleted them, still the same error?
Is there a way for me to unset the 'Sync' settings, or any other way for me to do this apart from a cable, other software maybe that works on Mac OSX as I detest using Windows!
    Thanks in anticipation,

  • Error Syncing Photos

Everything syncs fine with my iPod touch after updating to 2.0 (I've even restored it a few times now hoping that fixes this), except the photos. It says its syncing, then says that it couldn't sync with my ipod and gives me an error code -50. Anyone else have this problem? If so, can I fix it? I use my iPod a lot for pictures.

except the photos. It says its syncing, then says that it couldn't sync with my ipod and gives me an error code -50.
That could be being caused by a damaged photo cache. (Another common error message number with that sort of problem is a -39.) If you delete the photo cache, as per the following document:
Photo Sync creates iPod photo Cache
... can you get a sync to go through without the -50?

  • Photo sync problems with Vista

I have two iPods which I manage on two different computers.
I manage my 2nd Gen Nano on a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop running Windows XP Home, and manage my 5th Gen Video 30 GB iPod on a Dell Dimension E521 desktop running Windows Vista Home Premium. The same photos are on both computers.
The problems is that When I attempt to sync photos to the video ipod on the Vista system, I get an error "some photos weren't copied to Therese's iPod because they cannot be displayed on the iPod". I've deleted the iPod photo cache folder and tried the sync again, but still get the error.
Since both computers are networked, I thought I would try and sync the photos from the laptop over the network as opposed to the ones on the desktop. In iTunes on the desktop system, I selected the photos from the laptop and they sync'd to the the video iPod.
What I am trying to figue out is, Why the photo's from the laptop over the network would sync and not the photo's from the local Vista machine.
Any ideas of what the problem may be?

It is an HP dv6040ca that has vista 64-bit on it. It has a NVIDIA sata driver, that I have tried to up date today.
Drat. HP has been offering a Microsoft Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller Update/Rollback that has been helping with this sort of thing on desktop models (32-bit), but they aren't offering it on notebooks.
Are you up to date on that BIOS update they are offering? (They don't say what it does, but it might be worth a crack.)

  • TS3697 I am receiving an error message(iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPhone "Peter's iPhone". Do you want to keep or remove photos previously synced to your iPhone") I am trying to download pics from my computer to my iPhone. Any ideas? Peter

When I went to download some pics (originally taken with my iphone 4S) from my computer back to my iPhone I got the following error message: "iTunes will no longer sync photos to the iPhone "Peter's iPhone". Do you want to keep or remove photos previosly synced to your iPhone?"
Coincidentally, my wife just purchased an iPhone 4S and syncs to iTunes on the same computer.
    Any ideas?
    Peter

The "best" way to handle it, if you want to keep everything separate, is to create separate user accounts on the computer. make sure you log into your account on the computer before you attempt to sync your phone and log out when you're done using the computer.
Though it's possible to sync both of them to the same iTunes library, and even share an account for the iTunes store, you're inviting confusion and possible data loss (as you've discovered already). Best to just use separate user accounts on the computer. That also gives you the benefit of not polluting the other persons browser favorites, contacts, etc.

  • ITunes has stopped working error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS.  Why?!

For some reason, I keep getting the "iTunes has stopped working" error message on my Dell Latitude E6520 when trying to sync photos to my iPhone 3GS.  I am using Windows 7 on my 64-bit computer.  iTunes will begin to optimize the photos in the folder I have directed it to (I am trying to load almost 3000 photos and videos), and it will go through optimizing all of them singularly, then get to the step where it says "optimizing" again, but does so in bigger groups.  It will get to about 2000, and then the error message "iTunes has stopped working" will pop up, and say that "Windows must close the program and will search for a solution, and if it finds one, it will notify me".  Why can't I sync these photos, and what can I do?  Thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it!

Same problem here! Moreover, for some reason, the pictures in my iPhone 3GS somehow have been divided into 2 folders, Photos and Medialibrary. And when I open iPhone as a folder through the explorer I can see only the Photos folder, but cannot see the Medialibrary folder which stores the photos taken before updating/upgrading the iPhone and getting separated folders!!! What the hack with all of this?!!! When I connect iPhone to PC it automatically opens iTunes and starts syncronizing it, but at the process of OPTIMIZING the photos (and according to the number of photos it shows, I see that it tries to syncronize that invisible Medialibrary folder) the process suddenly stops and error message pops out Tried the sync test, tried the button DEBUG in that pop out message, but NOTHING HELPS!!! Also, when I open the Medialibrary in my iPhone, the screen get sblack all through scrolling it down, only the video clips are shown there... >.<
So, could you, apple developers, please, explain WHAT THIS PROBLEM IS ABOUT?!!!!!! FIX IT! I am getting ****** of to spend hours at the computer and reading those lame advises which do not help at all! I have my own things to do except reading your support websites. And I payed for the product ready to use, but not a halfproduct which problems should further be solved somehow by users..

  • I'm getting the error message "Photos folder syncing has been disabled for the iPhone my iPhone because the folder "Pictures" cannot be found."

I'm getting the error message "Photos folder syncing has been disabled for the iPhone <my iPhone> because the folder "Pictures" cannot be found." lately.
Normally, all I do with photos is move them from my iPhone to my computer's (Windows 7) hard drive. I do this by connecting the iPhone with the cable, a box pops up on the screen asking me what I want to do, and I choose "Import pictures and videos". I've previously selected the "delete photos from the device after move" option (or however it's worded...), simply because I don't want this device to fill up with photos.
Lately, it has been importing the photos fine, but it won't delete them from the iPhone. This used to work just fine, now it doesn't work and I don't know what changed, if anything. In iTunes, I get the error message I list at the beginning of this message.
    How do I fix this?

    Hi there scarbo59,
You mentioned that you are still able to import without issues, but you may still want to run through the troubleshooting steps outlined in the article below.

This is how Apple handles photos.
Just as a song is in your music library and you can access that exact same song from a playlist,  your photos are in the Photo Library and those exact same photos can be accessed from the labum you synced.
It is working exactly as designed.
