ERROR! "There is not enough memory to open this scene."
I have a file that is proving impossible to reopen.
Whenever I open it i receive an error message that says
"There is not enough memory to open this scene. Your document is
not damaged and may be safely saved. To increase available memory,
close open documents or quit and use Get Info command in the Finder
to allocate more memory to Flash."
I have looked all over the internet for help and although
this seems to be a pretty popular problem, no one ever has a
solution. Some people claim it is because of a corrupt file they
tried to import. I don't have any files in the library of this
document and it is all completely vector.
I desperately need this file. Do have any ideas regarding
what I can do? Thanks a lot.

You just posted that it seems to be a popular problem. We see
that complaint a lot, ever since MX2004 came out. Usually
associated
with the larger fla files.
Once the fla is corrupted there isn't a recover tool for it
(that I have heard of) You can start over or use a decompiler to
recover the pieces and code from it to use on your new one.
soThink swf decompiler can usually make a pretty good fla from a
working swf file (but not always)

When dowloadning tunes, I receive the error "there is not enough memory. I've deleted tunes from my library & ipod and I still get the error. How do I get around this?
It could be the newer version of iTunes requires more physical memory than your computer currently has available.
Do a right click on "My computer" and check out your computers memory/RAM specifications.
Windows XP is a bit bloated in the latest updates, trying to get people to upgrade to Windows 7, might be little room for other programs, especially one as huge as iTunes.
If you finally do choose a new machine, I have some tips:
For 3D gaming laptops, I wouldn't pick any graphics card scoring less than 1000 on this sites scale. Not scoring less than 2000 for towers.
http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html
I would also choose a quad core processor scoring 5000 or better on this scale, 64 bit, Windows 7 Pro (so you can virtualize your XP programs) or OS X, and 4GB of RAM expandable to at least 8GB or future proofing your investment.
http://www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
I would also choose 7,200 RPM hard drives for both towers and laptops for performance. On laptops while using the battery, set the energy savings to stop the hard drive spinning when not in use. Only choose the slower 5,400 RPM drive option if your always on battery and need maximum life as you lose about 20% with the faster drive, but gain 20% or more in performance.
Dual cores and 32 bit processors/OS with their 4GB RAM limit is soon to be old news.
For laptops, I highly recommend anti-glare displays for maximum use in any environment. -
"there is not enough memory to load this vi"
I have a rather large Labview build application (LV 2013). Sometimes it happens that immediatly after application start the application crashes showing the following error and afterwards a non-conclusive crashlog.
"Sometimes" means that it crashes around every 10th time, sometimes everytime. If it didn't crash at startup it won't crash during runtime anymore.
One problem is that the number of crashes depends on the computer (always Win 7 64bit ) the application is running on. On some computers it happens very rarely on the others every 2nd time.
The good thing is I already know the component where it comes from, which is the ftdi 2DXX library I'm calling. The bad thing is I don't know how to fix it. It looks to me like a memory corruption, but I I took every precaution regarding dll loading and data handling in labview.
Once I thought I fixed it by forcing recompile of all vi's of the project. It disappeared on the computer I was checking, but later appeared on another computer. Last time I thought I fixed it when I switch the dll calls to "run in any thread". It disppeared on the computer I was checking the problem on but now showed up on a different computer.
I'm running out of ideas. I already asked Labview support for help a while ago but they couldn't help me as well.is there any solution?
I got also this error message. I restart Labview, made a backup of the file named in the error message, create a new VI und copied the content into this new one... I tried several things mentioned here and in the internet. The size of the vi is 1,1 MB, Labview 2014.
Strange is: I never open the mentioned VI in the error message, I have never changed or used it.
I extened a .ctl, there is an Enum and I added some items to this Enum. When I choose in the running Main.vi one of my added items, go to next, then a window appears and I want to cancel this window (there is a separate cancel button, not the x), then Labview is crashing, the attached error message is appearing. When I choose an item which exists before, everything is working fine. Any ideas what I can try?

"There is not enough memory to complete this operation. " So what do I do ?
First try with new imac to replace the dead G4. G4 HD connected as an external HD so the files are available.
Have found appleworks and want to change a data base entry and it won't let me, I get the 'not enough memory ' message. I know that extra memory can be allocated to applications but have forgotten 'how to'. What do I do please .
Thanks
4jbl7OS X allocate memory dynamically, so unless you have a lot of other applications also running, the message shouldn't show up there.
In Mac OS 9.x.x and earlier, you must specify how much memory to allocate to an application. This is done in the application's Get Info window, with the application NOT running at the time.
Locate the application's icon in the Applications folder, click it once, then press command-I to Get Info. You'll find either a set of boxes in which to enter the Minimum and Preferred memory allocations, or a pulldown menu bar which will probably read "General", from which you can select "Memory"
Preferred is the amount of memory you want AppleWork to have if it is currently available when the program launches; Minimum is the smallest amount of memory you want AppleWorks to have. In the specified minimum is not available, the Mac OS will not launch the application, and will present an alert explaining why.

There is not enough memory to complete this operation
A student has created a slide show in AppleWorks - version 6.2.9
OSX is 10.4.x as well as 10.3.x - the slide show is 1.6MB and the computers we are attempting to open the document on have 256MB of memory.
I have also attempted to open the slide show on an OS9.1 machine with 192MB of memory (AW 6.2.8, of course).
I think we can cover the 1.6MB in the document, which indicates something else is wrong.
Any suggestions on how, or if, this document can be recovered?
We have already suggested the student attempt to recreate it AND save more often or use smaller pictures.
Oh, yes, we are using Workgroup Manager on an XServe.

System 7.1 "not enough memory to open program"
Yes, I know this is not the corect place but it was the closest I could get.
I have a Macintosh LC II running System 7.1.
The machine has been working fine and I have not done anything new/installed.
I attepmted to open "Making The Grade" when I get an error "There is not enough memory to open "Making The Grade 8.0g" (2,250K Needed, 2,113K available)"
It has never done this before, When I go look at my "About This Macintosh" I see that I have 4,096K total and the Largest unused block: 2,107K. I have removed other programs and removed files from my machine and nothing helps.
So, my question would be what other Software/settings could I use/try to help with this issue.
Should I use the "Virtual Memory" setting and let it use disk space? I have 52M available on the drive.
I havealready turned my Cache size down to 32K, hoping to free up space. But still the same issue.
Also, if I do use the Virtual memory will this have a negative affect on anything else?
Message was edited by: How_weird, Added more information.Hi, How -
Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
The issue probably stems from the fact that in order to open (run) a program, it needs sufficient contiguous memory be available for it to use, not just sufficient memory. A program can not use non-contiguous chunks of memory.
That is why "About This Macintosh" reports the largest unused block (a 'block' is a contiguous chunk) available, rather than the raw total of unused memory.
Often after opening some smaller programs the RAM will become fragmented. Quitting some of those apps may free up a lot of total memory, but not enough in a contiguous chunk for the needs of a large program.
Restarting the machine clears all RAM, which is why Niel suggested doing that. After the machine has finished restarting, all memory not then in use will effectively be contiguous and available for that program. If you have any programs set to be opened (run) automatically at startup, you may wish to disable that for the duration of your need for the larger program.
More info about fragmentation of memory (RAM) here -

I know this is not the corect place but it was the closest I could get.
It's not highly obvious. On the Discussions mainpage, scroll down until you can see and click the link named "Older software products". On the Category page to which that link takes you, you will find a link for OS 7 and earlier OS's -

There is not enough memory available on the Essbase Administration Server to open this outline
When I am trying to open outline it is showing the below error-
"There is not enough memory available on the Essbase Administration Server to open this outline"
Please advise what can be the reason and how can we solve them?
I checked the earlier post https://forums.oracle.com/message/4434719 and JVMOption is set with the current maximum size of the JVM e.g. -Xmx512m. Still we are receiving the error. Could you please help? Thanks John for the reply.
Couple of things
1) We use Block Storage Outline. Does it matter while compacting the outline using ESSCMDQ?
2) At the moment the JVM is set to -Xmx512m. Should we increase from 512 to 1024 or what is recommended.
We are doing ESSBASE 7.1.3 to 11.x (11.1.2.2) migration (AS IT IS migration) and we are facing this problem. Quite strange that we didn't get any memory error version 7.x whereas we are getting error in 11.x My understanding is that the current ESSBASE server has 6 GB RAM and in all ways it has higher capacity than server 7.x. But not sure why we are getting this strange error.
Is it possible to check the JVM size in ESSBASE 7.1.3 (or where we need to check the memory size).
Thanks in advance.

I have elements 9. I am making a panorama using about 10 images. Each time i click in the box to fill in the edges ( content aware fill) i get the error: could not fill because there is not enough memory (RAM).
This is not possible, as i have a machine with 8gb of RAM, and i can clearly see that less than 5GB is utilized.
I tried converting the individual images to jpeg as this is considerably smaller than RAW but i get the same error.
In Photoshop preferences i have set the memory to the max amount it allows ( 3255mb in my case). why will it not let me assign more RAM to it?
I got PSE 9 for content aware fill as i do a lot of panoramas, and if this does not work, its been a waste of 100 euros.Yes, this is very common. You can either up the amount of ram available to PSE in the editor preferences, or just let PSE finish the pano with unfilled edges. There is an action available in the forums at elementsvillage.com that will turn on the same kind of content aware patching that's in Photoshop and you can use that after leaving the pano creation feature.
EDIT I see you've already upped the memory. PSE is a 32 bit program and there's a limit to how much ram such programs can see. -

Im getting an not enough memory to complete this scanning operation error
I am using a WIA-HP CLJ CM1312 Scanner with Adobe Acrobat 9 Standard Version 9.4.6
This machine is Windows XP with 3gigs of RAM and plenty of HDD space....
When I try to make a color copy at a Resolution of 1200DPI I get an error saying that - "There is not enough memory to complete this scanning operation." It only works at 600DPI
I dont understand why I am getting this error. I would have thought my upgrade to 3gigs of RAM would have fixed this error.1200 dpi can actually mean a lot of memory.

Photoshop cs6 error "Could not complete command because there is not enough memory (RAM)"
Hi, I have a Macbook Pro and the Adobe Creative Suite 6, and all of my other adobe programs run smoothy with the exception of photoshop. For about the past year and a half now, I will very inconsistency receive the error message, "Could not complete ___ command because there is not enough memory (RAM)." Sometimes this problem gets so bad that I am not even able to open my preferences.
My computer seems as though it should have plenty of space to run photoshop, and I have taken my computer to a number of differed tech supports, but they have only been able to temporarily make the problem less severe for short periods until it acts up again and completely prevents me from using Photoshop. I recently updated to Yosemite and deinstalled/reinstalled photoshop, hoping that would fix things, but I still get the message almost any time I try to complete a command.
Your help would be very much appreciated, thank you!

3.5Mhz? Do they even make processors that slow?
I'm trying to think back through Photoshop versions, but IIRC it became hungry for RAM with CS5, but it might even have been CS4. But certainly from CS5 onwards a 32 bit system was going to be severely compromised with its 3.5Gb RAM limit, of which Photoshop could access only a bit over 2Gb. You might remember the 4Gb switch that let you use a bit more of your 4Gb of installed RAM. That worked OK with XP but was still flakey, and third party plugins used to fall over all the time through lack of RAM — at least Photoshop has a Scratch drive.
So nowadays you can forget trying to use Photoshop on 32bit hardware. You need 64 bit and at least 8Gb RAM. So like I said, the OP needs to look deeper into the 'apparent' over heating issue, and put that other 4Gb back in. I can't even conceive of why a person would cripple their system by removing RAM. _Especially_ when it leaves just 4Gb -
Error Message - Couldn't complete your request because there is not enough memory
I'm using Adobe CS5 Extended on a PC running under Windows Vista Home Premium with 4GB RAM. When I complete editing a RAW file in ACR and choose to Open Image into Photoshop, I often receive an error message "Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory (RAM)". However, Task Manager shows that about 2.5 GB of RAM is in use, the rest is free. Any ideas?
First, an apology - to John as his original post appears to have got somewhat hijacked.

Did you even TRY the advice given? You have to make the change in the Preferences - Performance panel, then close and restart Photoshop to test it.
YES I did actually - made absolutely no difference whatsoever.

You ARE aware you're talking to just other users here, right? We're just regular folks who have LONG SINCE figured out that we need bigger machines to work on large Photoshop images.
I don't actually class 22MB as a large Photoshop image - you might, I don't. If it had multiple layers, or I was doing massive amounts of processing, fair enough, but just opening the file from ACR?
As for upgrading the machine to open the files, this is Adobe's official requirement for CS5.1:
Windows®
2GHz or faster processor*
Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 3, Windows® Vista® Home Premium, Business, Ultimate, or Enterprise with Service Pack 2, Windows® Vista® 64-bit or Windows® 7
1GB of RAM or more recommended
1GB of available hard-disk space for installation; additional free space required during installation (Photoshop CS5.1 cannot be installed on flash-based storage devices.)
1,024x768 display (1,280x800 recommended) with qualified hardware-accelerated OpenGL® graphics card, 16-bit color and 256MB VRAM
The machine way excedes the requirements, so, I stand by what I said before.
Thanks for your help though, much appreciated.
